  • Del,
No not yet but they are calling for some rain or flurries. I use to live in GA between ages 9 thru like 16 or 17. Tybee Island, Willmington Island and then Savannah for 8 years. Being from Maine though I know how different it is down here driving compaired to up north.

I did good eating yesterday and I burned 655 cals between my elliptical work out and 10-15 cool down walk.

Aphil sounds like you are on your way to those dancer legs.....I have noticed suddle changes in myself but still have a lot of fat in my waiste and hips. I carry all my weight there and have nice legs and normal arms.

Well see if we get any snow tomorrow???

    Amie
  • Hi everyone,

Aphil, I am so happy for you that you are starting to see a change in your body, always makes a person feel good and know that your accomplishing something when you can SEE the results!
Amie you are doing just great! I have seen a change in you, for the better, since you have decided to crack down on your weight and I am so proud of you!
Del, if you would like more snow than what you got, come on up to Maine, we just got about 6 inches over the night last night...YUCK!!! And trust me it dont matter what state you live in, there are people that do not know how to drive in this stuff!! Up here its the ones that own the 4x4 trucks and SUVs and think, well I have 4WD, I can drive fast, I am invisible, nothing will touch me, well its those people that cause all the accidents!! Makes you want to slap em'.
    Holly, WHERE ARE YOU???
I have been doing good on my eating, I made the kids and fiance steakums subs last night for supper and I was good I had a salad and a sm. pc. of baked chicken breast. I wasnt tempted at all to have what they were, kinda surprised me! I want to eat better and I want them to eat better to, they all have been doing good about eating what I have been making for supper, just cant get the little one to eat peas yet, but like once or twice a week I will make them all something they all decide on and I will have something good for me. I just dont want to break the cycle I am on now. I want and for my health need the rest of this weight off. My problem areas are the arms (god I hate my arms) (Amie knows ) and my waist/hip area. I AM going to get the pilates DVDs tonight, I wasnt able to last week. If I do those like everyother day, would that be ok?
Hope you all are having a good day..........

    Lori
  • Yes-you can do your Pilates dvds every other day...and your cardio on the days in between. (treadmill, eliptical, aerobics, walking, etc.)
  • HERE I AM!

man, at least the time is flying by, it's my job that's keeping my frazzled; last weekend was MLK weekend, which is a BIG skiing deal here. again, I get close to screaming (crying!?) with frustration at work. I had to email a not-so-great report regarding the manager, to the bosses (they're in Florida) and now I feel like a sneak because today the manager asked me if his job was in jeopardy. ONLY THREE MORE MONTHS OF THIS

Who is it that wants snow?......I agree with angelinabtle, we'll send you ALL that you want from New England I agree about the crazy people who have huge SUV's with 4WD, who drive like a bat outta h*ll and end up off the road They don't seem to realize that 4WD doesn't work on ice, duh

amie, I wouldn't have thought that SC would get snow!!! shows how much I know did I tell you that I rode to Myrtle Beach for Bike Week last spring? I LOVED it. When we left Vermont there was still snow along the roads (and it was the beginning of May) but 2 1/2 days later, there we were in MB, getting sunburned! Warmth, ocean, and thousands of bikers...I was in heaven

aphil, I am enjoying (!!! really) the new fitness tapes. For the sculpting tapes,I see that Gilad is following the classic action of working the muscles to the point of exhaustion...first two reps of 8, then that final rep of 8 is argh!!! but effective. STILL haven't nailed my eating habits to be better!!!! maybe slightly better...aphil, I hear ya about KNOWING the muscles are lurking just under that subcutaneous fat layer...it's awesome to know that they are waiting for us!!!!!!!

I need a reminder...it it okay to do an abs workout daily?

I tried fitday again, but I am so impatient, it seems to take too long for me to enter foods.

I had off today (which meant I only had to be at work for an hour )
and I hadn't really cleaned since Christmas!! so it was dust/vacuum/dust again, windex windows, pick up clutter, etc. It's nice to sit down though and actually see a difference. Until the furry dog walks through the room

Hello to everyone!! and keep plugging away!
  • Holly- My DH would love to go to bike week on a Harley. He wants one so bad! Maybe we will see you there one year?? We are going to the bike show here in Charlotte, NC Saturday. Billy Lane, Jessie James and some others will be there. He went to the last one where Indian Larry died and met him earlier in the day. Keep trying with fit day. It was slow for me at first but after a week it was a lot easier. It keeps your recent foods in the pull down menu so you can pick from there on the more commen items you eat each week and that speeds things up. It has helped me keep a perfect cal record and shows me my progress. I am about to leave for the day! Sorry about the stress at work.....I know that must suck! OH and yes we get snow at least once a year. We get a bad ice storm maybe every other year too. It doesn't stick around though maybe 1-3 days. The weater here is so weird and changes week to week. Just a week or so ago it was 70 then Tuesday a low of 12 ?? next week will get up to the 50's again? Crazy.... Do you and your DH both have your own bikes? I want a fat boy and my DH wants a custom ridgeback (sp?)

Thanks Lori, You have gotten a lot more motovated too. I think when I come up there this summer we will both be shopping for a size 6!

    amie
  • Holly-yes, the abs are the only body part that you can strength train every day (i.e. not waiting 48 hours for recovery inbetween) You should still go by your body though-if your abs are feeling fine-then go ahead-but if you are sore at all in your abs or side muscles (obliques) then definitely recover that day.

(Some of my abs workouts I switch around...and there are a couple where I am sore for the full 48 hours.)
  • Hi amie, you know, I am so in awe of your calorie control, maybe I'll give fitday another try. I didn't know about the pull-down thingee

Motorcycles!! I love 'em My bike is an '02 Honda Shadow 600, black. Husband has an '03 Kaw Vulcan 800. I wouldn't turn down a Harley if someone offered one to me but the price is too steep for us now. But wouldn't it be kewl for me to be Harley Holly

I learned to ride the year I lost my weight (2002) In fact, it was a major motivation. And it's still one of my biggest motivators, thinking how I'll look in my leather pants or chaps if I gain weight.

I really want to go back to Myrtle Beach this year...if we decide to, wouldn't it be great to meet up!!! Would you ride the mechanical bull, if I do first? I liked Myrtle Beach because it was warm, and by the ocean, but also a great place for bike venue because it's 60 miles' worth, instead of, say, Laconia, which has hundreds of thousands of bikes in a tiny little town.

Has your husband ridden before? It's sad but true that lots of times, when the children start to arrive, the bikes get put away because they're just not practical transportation...and unfair if one spouse get to have fun by riding, but not both.

wow, your husband met Indian Larry the day of his crash...how tragic

ooo, I'm happily jealous of you going to the bike show this Sat.! There's a big one coming up, in Boston, that we might go to. If I had the $$$ to play around with, my next bike would be a Honda VTX. Or if I had even more $$$$, I'd love to try a Victory 8-Ball. I've only ridden a few bikes so far; the Honda Nighthawk in the Motorcycle Safety Course; my Shadow; a friend's Vulcan 500; husband's older Kaw 750; and husband's current bike (Vulcan 800). A friend has offered me to try his Victory Vegas; I didn't have the courage at the time, but I might if he offers again.

well, thank you for letting me talk bikes I try to keep it down here, so I don't bore anyone. But as you see, I gladly spill if someone asks and I have lots of pictures.
  • Holly...you know we have a Harley in the family too...you're not boring ME! I have a feelin' that you'll be Harley Holly before too many years go by...

And Holly-we love all the pictures! Over the time since you have been here...my two favorite pictures of you have been the "Naughty Santa" one with the candy cane (that was just priceless!) and the one in your workout attire with your aerobic step. They were both awesome pictures!!!!

I am feeling pretty great the past few days-my eating has been perfectly OP, my exercise has been challenging...and I am all geared up and ready to drop a few more pounds in the next couple months. These last "almost" 25 pounds until I get to my goal I am REALLy going to have to work for. You know what...I have pretty much kicked my diet soda habit...and I am really happy about that.

I was drinking lots of water through my entire weight loss journey-but I was also drinking two cups of coffee in the morning...and a couple diet sodas every day.

I cut my coffee consumption to only one cup in the morning a couple months ago-the only time I will have a second cup is for a special thing...like if we are at the mall and stop in to one of the coffeehouses or something-and then I will have a second cup for a "free" treat caloriewise-usually a flavored bean coffee or something. But-we only do that about once a month.

I have just slowly cut out the diet sodas as well these past few weeks-because I want those to be "treats" as well-saving all the diet sodas for "treats" at a gathering, out to dinner-that sort of thing-and not just keeping them in the house to have every day.

I actually feel TONS better since I have done this!!! It has really made a difference. I am going to try to keep diet sodas/Crystal Light and such to maybe a serving once or twice a week.

Last night was really busy-I had to go fabric and notion shopping for the dance/costume class I am helping to teach-and buy all of their fabrics and supplies. Now I have to separate them into separate bags and such by student-so they each have only what they need.

I also finished a tiny pair of harem pants for my intructor's baby girl for the performance tomorrow night...and I have a few sashes for some students to work on today.

We also went grocery shopping last night-and I bought plenty of my healthy favorites-chocolate soymilk, apples, fresh green beans (to steam), oatmeal...all those sorts of things. I am making my "famous" chicken soup on Sunday and I got the stuff for that as well. It is low fat, high in protein...and really good. One of the only healthier foods my husband will willingly eat.

I hope everyone is having a good day!!! Stay motivated-if we want to look good for all those swimsuits, tank tops, and shorts-then now is the time when we need to be working hard!!!

    Aphil
  • I am Rebecca, 31, sahm, homeschooling 4 boys (12, 10, 6, 23 months). I have kept a little weight on after each pregnancy. I also had to take steroid shots for awhile and put on close to 5 pounds per shot! My highest weight was 210. I am now at 168. I have stopped and started dieting for awhile now. I am finally trying to seriously commit to getting these pounds off so I can be healthier, feel better, and look better.

I don't believe in fad diets, cutting out food groups, etc. I believe almost everything is okay in moderation. I have been cutting calories, aiming to stay at about 1500, with a top of 1800 on the occasional off day. I keep track of my calories on fitday.com. I have also been exercising 30 min. a day at least 5 days a week with Gilad on fit tv. I hope to work up to 60 min. a day. I am also asking DH for a treadmill.
  • Welcome Rebecca!!!! Sounds like you are doing great!!!
  • Morning all,

Aphil thanks for the advice on the Pilates, I will do that. I went and bought the Windsor Pilates DVD last night so tonight will be my first time trying them out! I cant wait till next week so I can go and get my elliptical, I am the type of person that if I dont work up a sweat or my heart rate isnt racing then I feel like I havent done an "effective" workout! And I agree with you Aphil, that summer is coming and for once I want to look good in a bathing suit!! That is definatly a modivation for me!
Holly, that is cool that you have a Shadow, that is what my fiance wants to get to for us! I want my own bike to but for now I will be happy riding on the back of his! I havent ever driven a "full size" motorcycle yet, but I want to learn, it looks like so much fun, and the feeling of freedom when your on one is great! We are hoping by next summer we will be able to afford one, right now the money we save is going towards a down payment on a house!! I wish I was able to be down there with Amie to go to that bike show too I to am "happily jelious" as you put of her to I always watch Jesse on TV. I would love to try and meet him! I am a big OCC fan to. Paul, Pauly, Mikey and Vinney are all awsome! So in case you think your "boring" me with bike talk...NEVER.. OH, and Amie showed me fitday and I do it also everyday, it does get easier as you go along! I love to be able to see what I have eaten and keep track of those peski calories and fat
Hope you all have a great day! Weigh in is Sunday, lets pray for loss

    Lori
  • Welcome Rebecca. We are glad to have you join us. Keep up the good work.

I am telling on myself today. I have been doing terrible for 2 days! My son has a big bowl of chocolate in his bedroom. I have been able to stay out of it until last night. A customer gave me a container of chocolate kisses today and I have been eating them. I am going right now and putting the candy in the lunchroom so the guys can eat it all and I am not going to touch the chocolate in my sons room anymore!!!

    Deb
  • Deb...I do the same thing when a temptation just gets to be too much. I give it to someone...on one occasion I have even thrown half a cake into the trash can.
  • welcome Rebecca! I also think you are off to a great start. And you exercise with Gilad?? Everyone here knows HOLLY LOVES GILAD!! I have his Step and Tone tape, his 45/split tape, and I just got his Quick Fit tapes. He kicked my butt today with the Hips, Thighs and Buns routine...killer!

Lori, that is just so cool that you also want to learn to ride. When you're ready, I will give you any and all info I can. One thing, check out your Dept. of Motor Vehicles website, to see what info they have on the Motorcycle Safety Foundation classes. They have a course just for beginners, I saw ladies who had never been on a bike before start the course on Friday evening, and by Sunday afternoon they had their motorcycle endorsement!

Women on their own motorcycles ROCK!!!

I will also be praying for a loss for each and everyone one of us

aphil, congrats on being OP consistently!!! And what a big thing it is to be down to just one cuppa coffee! I know a nutritionist once told me that coffee stimulates the appetite. But for me, that's psychological, 'cause I just crave a little cakey sweet to go with that coffee, if it's in the afternoon or evening. So, better to just cut it out, right? And yay to you on cutting the diet sodas, also. They taste so good, that's a hard thing to do. But we can't allow them to get in our way of drinking that water. So leaving them for a special treat, that's smart.

    Little harem pants, how cute!!

I got a haircut today (just maintaining that new 'do, though even growing out it still looked okay) and saw they are having a tanning special, 10 visits for $15.00. So I signed up, and did 8 minutes right then and there!! I didn't have my sunscreen for my face on me, of course, so I just covered my face with a towel. For those who are newer here, I have decided to do the tanning, because these Vermont winters get me down! I crave the warmth of the beds, and I LOVE tan lines, but I don't love the fact that they dry out the skin. So I'm compromising by covering my face with either super-heavy-duty suncreen, or a towel.

aphil - of course I wear the little eye protection guards, but is it OK if I have my contact lenses in? they're not going to melt on me, are they? ew! and ow!

I bought a pound of brown rice today. It's something that Gilad suggests to have for breakfast, along with some fruit. I'm already into my winter breakfast of 1/2 cup oatmeal with cut-up apple, so I guess the brown rice is kinda like that Yet something else for my husband/kids to make fun of , sigh

I see that I am in the routine of doing very very well until dinner, and after dinner. I am going to blame no one but myself from now on!!! I could heap the blame of anyone else, but it comes down to me if I decide to have ice cream like everyone else. I WANT to be leaner!! I WANT to see how much better my legs could look. I WANT to know that my butt looks good from all this exercise!!!

    Hello to everyone else!
  • Deb

Who hasnt had a so called "bad" day? I have had plenty! But good for you that you took them into the other room for the guys to eat! Let them gain the weight, lol....

And Welcome Rebecca, glad to have you!! Sounds like your on the right track to loosin!

    Lori
