Hi all! So as much as I love calorie counting for chosing what to eat, I also find it useful for chosing what not to eat. For example, yesterday, I made for myself a Lean Cuisine and some celery and light ranch on the side for dinner. My man was eating mac and cheese, and some breaded, fried, buffalow chicken strips (yeah, and he's 5'8 and weights 150 lbs). I thought, "I'll just have a small chicken strip too, it looks so yummy, and I've been so good!" I even heated one up for myself, and then checked the cals. About 175, not that bad. But it was only about 2 bites of food. In addition, when I saw it put my cal count from 1350 to over 1500, I thought, "Not worth it", gave it to the boyfriend, and he ate it up!
I'll take an entire grilled chicken breast with some hot sauce for about the same amout of calories over a *tiny* fried piece of chicken on MOST days - of course, there will always be a few days where fried chicken will not be off limits. But yesterday, I didn't give into temptation.
What did you choose not to eat that made you proud of yourself?
A second helping of mashed potatoes! My boyfriend made a delicious, yet calorie-filled dinner, and I managed to refrain from eating more than one serving of anything.
he always makes late dinners. At like 9 or 10. and they always smell up the house. I didnt have any and until this journey is over. (wich it never will be) i plan to not have any. (if its healthy i ask him to make me a small serving and i have it for lunch the next day. : ) )
At our bi-weekly staff meetings, the kitchen ladies make the yummiest cinnamon rolls. I haven't been able to resist all year...but yesterday I did! I ended with a 1450 calorie day instead of well over 1700 (I really have no idea how many cals are in the rolls...I'm guessing at least 300.)
This morning before I work I stopped in the convenience store to get some coffee and passed the donut case. They smelled HEAVENLY! I was so tempted to buy a cake donut to go with my coffee. I reminded myself that I'd feel like crap after eating it and it wouldn't be worth it.
I'm going to start making my own coffee at home! I can't get that donut out of my head. lol
Fiance and my son stopped at Sonic last night for dinner. Oh, those onion rings sounded soooooo good. I know that I could have had a small order and stayed under my total for the day. But, I decided I'd rather be full and not have cravings later in the night. So, I went home and had leftover salmon and broccoli. Good choice - they were both sick to their stomachs from the burgers and chili tots, while I was able to go get a late night walk in. Yay!
I was at Walmart (I really do hate that place..anyway..) they had 1/2 off Halloween candy. I put 2 bags in my cart. When I got up to the register, I put them back.
I'm not typically the type to resist foods if I really want them. I have learned though that if I want a Reese's pb cup, then I buy a regular size bar and share it with someone. Then I'm done. I don't buy the big bags anymore. So, I didn't buy the big one! YES!
I made full-octane brownies and low carb cheesecake for my bible study group tonight. I ate a tiny sliver of low-carb cheesecake, but I passed on the brownies.
