What I didn't eat today was cookies and milk chocolate. Seriously, I go through the temptations every time I have to go to the local market here to buy something. It's also Friday (I'm in Israel so it's Friday afternoon here) and weekends are always junk food trigger time for me. I had to go to the market to buy some stuff and I passed right by the milk chocolate and went instead for the vegan super dark chocolate (I'm trying to stay vegan right now as well as lose weight). I also glanced at the cookies and took instead whole wheat pretzels.

So I can't say I totally avoided junk food (since you can consider pretzels and dark chocolate "junk") but I avoided the bad non-vegan junk food in favor of better vegan junk food. That's progress!

This is a weird one - but I really love saltines! They are totally worthless nutritionally though, and can actually add up in the calorie department rather quickly. I had chicken chili for lunch and managed to not have any at all! woo!

Today I chose not to get a bag of chips and a sweet tea from subway w/ my sub. Therefore, saving myself those wasted empty calories! Yay!

What a great starter post. I totally agree about the plain chicken with hot sauce. Just as good for a fraction of the calories!

What I haven't had lately is a lot of fat in my baked goods. I bake breakfast bread for me and my husband. Instead of using oil I substitute unsweetened applesauce. The taste is identical, and I save calories doing so!

On Friday I was down 2 pounds, my first lost in weeks and weeks. Ever since then all I have done is eat and now I am up almost 5 pounds. I know it is water weight but still. So today I am trying to get back on track.

Last night a girlfriend and I went for dinner - I and a semi poor choice and ordered a steak sandwich and fries - at least it was 300 calories less then the burger I wanted and I only ate half. Hey, it is a start.

Today for lunch I had the other half of the sandwich and the fries packed in the fridge. Before I left the house I took all the fries out and left them in the fridge for the fiancé and packed some baby carrots instead. Again it is a start... baby steps.

Really like the idea of the post.

I have been walking around with some of my daughter's candy in my purse for 2 days. Laffy Taffy. Haven't touched it. Or the dum dum's on the receptionists desk. Habit says to grab one on the way by, regardless of if I want it or not.

Time for new habits.

Also, brought 2 string cheese sticks for snacks today at work. Had one this morning when I was getting hungry. Wanted the other one right away. Managed to save it for a yummy snack for this afternoon. Baby steps!

I did not eat every stinkin time I walked through my kitchen yesterday. After the lack of willpower I had Saturday and Sunday, that was a big deal.

I chose not to eat the free food at my office today - sandwiches, salads, chips and cookies. I actually took a sandwich to bring home for dinner but gave it to someone else instead, because I knew it wouldn't be worth the calories.

My sister in law offered me McDonald's when she got some for her son. I was starrrving and really squirming when the smell filled the car, but I had Turkey chili at home and as a special treat, I could even butter my bread. That is a splurge I feel good about.

Today I chose not to eat... anything.

My tummy doesn't feel so good, so today I fasted. I took a fiber supplement to "help things along" and I had a lot of tea.

Hopefully things are better tomorrow.

Halloween candy... I've had maybe two starbursts since Halloween, but really, I've been out of the nasty stuff.

I find a little sweet bite here and there really helps me to stay away from the truly dangerous stuff.

I managed NOT to eat the whole order of waffle fries. Do you know how long it's been since I left waffle fries in the box? I don't either, it's been a really long time.

Went to the mall and resisted all the greasy food court options ;-) I got my 4 year old a pretzel and the "old me" would of eaten her left overs but instead I just threw it out. THAT felt awesome ;-)

So far, I have managed to stick to my planned food. I didn't go for lunch like I wanted, or get anything from the vending machine, or eat an extra snack. I just had some extra water.

I still need to to do dinner, hopefully I can stay on track in the grocery store!
