So, school is pretty much back in session. We had training all day tomorrow, another all day training tomorrow, Friday off, and then Monday is the "welcome back teachers" day with the kids coming on Tuesday. Gah....I am so not ready for summer vacation to be over!!! It's especially hard because it rained and was freezing all throughout June and July. So, now it's starting to finally feel like summer and we're going to be stuck in an old and badly ventilated classroom ;) LOL

I had the weirdest sensation today when i was at the gym. I went at my normal school year time of around 3pm and the place was absolutely EMPTY! I did 35 minutes hardcore on the elliptical and then did 25 minutes of jogging/walking (18 minutes of jogging with 7 minutes of walking sprinkled in there). About 2 minutes into my jogging though, I felt this weird pull in my left leg. I have only had one charlie horse in my life and it happened in my sleep, so I don't really know what it really feels like, but that's what I thought might have been happening. So I had to put the machine on pause and stretch out some more.

I was sweating like a pig when I was done, but it felt great!!! I still can't believe that I can and will jog on a treadmill in a gym with people around! haha

david 08-27-2009 06:37 AM

jam if you really want to learn go out with a guide and really pay attention, then youll know what to do the next time...ill bet youre near tons of great fishing spots

retiredone 08-27-2009 09:45 AM

Hi  Sounds like victories are being won here in this challenge. I managed 2 good days and hoping today will be the third in a row. I'm hoping to get back to exercise by September. I know this challenge is blown for me but there's always next month, right? I'm not even getting on the scales until September as I'm hoping I'll drop a few of these summer pounds and won't be as shocked as I'd likely be today. I thought I'd be at goal by now...sigh...

jamsk8r 08-27-2009 10:45 AM

Chele, I hope you find some ways to enjoy the good weather...maybe you can take the kids outside. :D WTG with the workout!

Isabella, I hope things level out for you soon, so you can be back to your old butt-kicking weight loss self. I know what you mean about goal. I figured I'd be done by now, as well, but what can we do? Keep eating good foods and exercising and living and coming here for support.

David, I am going to look into it. I think it would be a nice thing to do with my boy.

Gotta run to the gym. Later, peeps!

jendiet 08-27-2009 01:53 PM

alright. 174 is my weekly avg now. If I see 170 lbs by the end of this month. I will have met a goal. And I also want to ge to 165 by labor day. I'm still sticking to my goals.

david 08-27-2009 02:16 PM

i know i wont reach my goal for this challenge, i never do!! lol i have made a steady progression towards my longterm goal...these challenges are great but if you dont hit the number you posted it is by no means failure..i know for sure that posting every day has kept me more focused and more on track...its so easy to throw in the towel after 1 or 2 bad days, but when you see the team effort it helps you to regroup and pick up the pieces...have a great day everyone

jamsk8r 08-27-2009 03:44 PM

Hello, my peeps!

I am having my post-workout cup of hot tea, and chillin'. The workout today was fun, and evil, as is usual for crossfit workouts. Deadlifts, Power Cleans, Squat Cleans, and Push-Ups. I needed to practice the squat cleans, and toward the end of the workout, actually felt like I was doing them right, for once!

It's sunny here, warm, but not hot. I enjoy the sunshine, but am ready for winter to happen so I can start running my dog again. She needs it below 55 degree (F) to run in harness. (sigh) In the meantime, I guess I could get off my rear and mow the lawn one more time, wack the edges one more time. (boring!) ;)

My weekly weight average is going down steadily, even though my daily weights can be all over the place, from my workouts. Thankfully, the averaging shows the trend, so I don't go mental and think nothing good is happening. I spend several days each week bloated up with water weight from heavy or long workouts, which can add 3 or 4 lbs overnight, then it leaves just as quickly a day or two later. :dizzy: Anyway, it's heading the right direction, apparently.

I haven't had a chance to work on my handstands again, and while I'm not giving up on getting that goal, I'd hoped to have it done by now. It just seems like my shoulders are always shredded from some workout or another, so it never seems like the right time to try and support my bodyweight with my arms, lol. I might get brave and try some cartwheels in the yard today. I've been thinking that maybe, if I could do those, that might help me learn to throw my weight up there, and indirectly help me get over my fear of the handstand kick-up. The wall scares me, since there's no place to go but on my head, if my arms go out. At least with a cartwheel and lots of room, I have a chance of landing on something besides my noggin!

Alright 08-28-2009 07:45 AM

Morning all.

Sorry I haven't been around. I've been posting elsewhere (yes, I'm a traitor.) But I'm still losing weight.

I had planned on dieting till the end of this challenge and taking a week break, but life got in the way and I took my break last week. So I had a nice time to relax, saw the weight go up only 1 lb, and then right back on it this past Monday.

I'm down to 157.2 as of this morning. I don't think I'll be seeing my challenge goal of under 155 unless I lose a bodypart, so I don't think I'll worry about that.

Cool thing is, I'm already signed up for a challenge that starts on Labor Day till the end of the year.

At which point, I will HOPEFULLY be done with the hard dieting part of this diet and on to maintenance.

Hope all have a good day.

retiredone 08-28-2009 01:00 PM

I made it through yesterday and even got in 5k on my exercise bike. Today has been good so far, too. Went blueberry picking yesterday and today. They're wild and free for the picking. Yummy berries. But today the wind was so cold we came home early but still had nearly 4 litres of berries picked before we headed for the car.

david 08-28-2009 02:50 PM

getting ready for a busy weekend...raider game and party at moms on sat...fishing all day sunday,,,gotta squeeze in time for cleaning also or the wife might kill me!! im hoping to lose that 1 lb and keep the streak alive...well see...have a great weekend everyone!!

Lori259 08-28-2009 09:36 PM

Hiya everyone~i have been enjoying my kids being at school all week so I have been lazy about posting~anyways I hope ya'll didn't miss me too much
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA

Alright It's alright!! hehehehe We still Adore ya! 157 is fabulous though ~I would so love to be there at that weight! So good Job.

My goal was for 179.8 at least ~to break into those 170's and hit 80 lbs lost~I did see 182.8 yesterday~but I doubt I make my goal either~but Its fun trying ~I have noticed the smaller you get the slower it seems to come off.....DANG IT.

Anyways jam~I am getting better with the ab slide...I have been using it for a little over a week now...And I think my tummy is starting to shrink some.
I hope anyways~Cause it was a "B" to start out with And still aint that pleasant. hahaha

David~Even if you don't reach your goal this challenge you have been doing super~I am very proud of you~WAY TO GO. And I am proud of all the others who are doing great!!!

BARB~ HOPE ALL IS WELL WITH YOU ,THE HUBBY, & THOSE 2 precious boys!!!

EVERYONE ELSE Continue doing your best for the challenge~looks like everyone is doing great.

I will type again soon

david 08-31-2009 03:07 PM

im getting back into that "all or nothing " mode specifically on weekends...its so easy for me to overeat on saturdays and sundays...if ive got plans i use them as an excuse to go off plan...if i want to acheive longterm success i have to break this cycle...right now im kind of disappointed with myself...i know ill lose this weight eventually but i dont want to gain in back as soon as i lose it...i DID have a really nice weekend otherwise

BarbPA 08-31-2009 10:33 PM

Hi Gang!

Sorry I haven't been around much. Everything is great. Just busy...and a lil painful. I have something going on with my right wrist. It hurts periodically but I never thought much about it because it usually went away quickly. Well, it started hurting again the end of last week and it's worse than ever. I have no flexibility to move it up (like waving at someone) and if I move it certain ways I get shooting pains. I'm thinking a pinced nerve. I have an appt with a specialist on Thurs morning so we'll see.

In the meantime I need to put the ice back on it.

I just wanted to say HI!!!! :D

Lori259 09-02-2009 12:21 PM

HI BACK AT YA BARB!!
I hope all is ok with your wrist.
Let us know what the specialist says.
Lord Knows you need both those hands working to keep up with your precious little boys.

David~I totally agree with ya~break the cycle! It is "all or nothing"
Glad you had a nice weekend. Hope everything goes great for ya.

I had to place a new battery in my scale ~I was weighing 3 or 4 times a day!
LOL
Anyways, I am gonna start weighing every Sunday Morning Is my new plan unless I have a challenge to where I need to weigh a different day ever so often....I hope I can Because I am definetly a scale addict ~which is ok~but I hate to run the batteries low so quickly LOL!

Anyways~I am weighing on Sunday~Hopefully I will get some results.
I was thinking that if I did get to my 179 (which will more than likely be after labor day)
That I will be at 80 pounds lost & 29 to go ~which I knew but Also I will be just considered overweight at that number also...NO MORE OBESE!
So I am really wanting that number.

A super thing has been happening to me That I would like to share...I have been getting asked on how I lost my weight and people are guessing my weight ~like where I grocery shop at mainly ~And it's kinda exciting.
I have been being guessed at 150 and 155!!!! can y'all believe that?
I am getting guessed to be My goal weight!
I am sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Proud of where I am right now....After I get my tummy in a bit of better shape I may just maintain.
Even if it's before I reach 150.
I Like when I have some curves and I feel my only problem area to me is just my tummy~but my AB SLIDE FROM HECK is helping that problem. I have seen a change in my tummy within the last few days that is very noticeable.YEEEEHAW!
So That 3 minutes day is worth it.
So the ab slide gets to live.
hahahahaha
( Oh and I also tell them I count calories and how to go about doing it for those who ask how I have lost Here in my town I nearly forgot to add that part)

Hope all is well with everyone.
TAKE CARE

Deana 09-03-2009 07:46 AM

Hey all! Just checking in. Well I have 5 pounds to meet my Labor Day goal and unless I cut off my right leg I don't think that is happening lol But the journey has been fun and I'm up for another challenge :-)

david 09-03-2009 08:22 AM

did good today had a potluck at work...hope everyone is well

Lori259 09-03-2009 09:30 AM

Deana~Good Job Anyways~I doubt I make my goal either And we need our legs.(LOL)

David~Glad you had a good day!

Jam.........Must be exercising!!!! Thats girl Is so impressive with all she does!
YOU GO GIRL!
On a more serious note...I hope all is well with you and Your family.

Well I didn't use my scale last night or this morning so I am doing good.(all day yesterday went with out it)

.
I hope everyone has results they are happy with for labor day.
I AM PROUD OF ALL THOSE WHO HAVE TRIED LIKE CRAZY!!! Even if you do not make your goals ~you tried and thats what is important.
Anyways, Gotta get my walking in~Will type again soon
Take care everyone

I did good on the weight goal, but not on the minutes of exercise goal. I think I was a bit ambitious in my goal, but at least I worked hard to get as close as I did.

Chele615 09-04-2009 01:52 PM

So we have a couple more days to see if there are any last minute miracles for some of us! haha Good luck to everyone....can't wait to hear all about the results on Monday!

david 09-04-2009 03:59 PM

im finishing this challenge with a wimper, not a roar...been spinning my wheels the past couple of weeks and not moving the ticker...next challenge im going to focus on more productive weekends and more exercise

jamsk8r 09-04-2009 05:44 PM

Hey all.!

Sorry I haven't beena around...just crazy busy this week. Today is the last day of the craziness, I hope, then things should be calmer on the weekend. The good news is, the crazy busy has been paying jobs, so I can't complain about that! I made enough to pay the last bill I was behind on, plus the Sept bills are paid, I bought a new (but cheap) vacuum cleaner for the house (my old one kept breaking belts), and have money left for the rest of the month...woohoo!

Been working out 6 days a week at the gym, except this week is 7, because of volunteering at the cert last Sunday. I've been feeling good, though, and I asked for and got some practice and help on the olympic lifts this week, so I've been in weightlifting heaven this week! This morning before my workout, I went for an easy (pace) 2 mile run. It was sunny and not too hot, very pretty out. When I got almost back to the gym, I had to sprint, though, because the stinky awful garbage truck was coming up behind, and I did NOT want to get stuck trying to run behind that thing. Did that once and nearly died from the fumes, lol!

I don't think I will make my other LD goals either. I was at 163.6 this morning, and still haven't worked on my handstand kick-up at all. I'm okay with it, though. I tried my best with the weight loss bit, and did pretty well, considering I was at 171.2 on 4th of July! That's about 7.5 lbs, which is good for me, at this point in the game. The handstand, well, I will get it eventually, I know!

Okay, gotta run, peeps. I'll try to catch up with replies this weekend!

My miracle would be to get about 1000 min of exercise in....ya think I can do it by Monday....I think I was a bit too ambitious....

Deana 09-05-2009 04:48 PM

Hey all! I Just wanted to say CONGRATULATIONS! to everyone whether we met our goal or not the most important thing is that we made progress and we are healthier today than we were when we first started. Have a safe and happy Labor Day!

Alright 09-05-2009 07:11 PM

I'm not posting anything until Monday morning when I officially weigh myself.

I just started a new 4 month challenge on another site I use. From one to another...a great way to go.

Good luck to all until Monday morning.

jamsk8r 09-06-2009 01:13 PM

Alright, love the new avatar pic!

Jacque, you've still got today and tomorrow...that's just 500 minutes a day, lol! :faint:

 to Lori, David, Deana and everybody else!

Did some fun strongman stuff at my gym yesterday. Learned two new things I hadn't tried before: the continental clean with the axle (really fat barbell that's hard for me to grip) and the yoke walk. I think my trainer is doing some more strongman stuff on Monday, but not sure if he'll let me play, since I'm such a noob, he has to supervise all my lifts right now.

Today is a stay-home day...phew! This seemed like a very long week, I think because I had to be gone so much working, then had an extra day at the gym with the cert last Sunday. Anyway, I am glad to be home for one day. It's pouring rain, so I guess it will be a good day to catch up on laundry and housecleaning chores. Oh, and I need to cook ahead some breakfast and lunch proteins for the coming week!

Surprisingly (since all I did was lift heavy yesterday), I got a new low on the scale this morning..I guess sleeping in pays off, sometimes! ;) 162.4! I'm closing in on my goal of getting under 160 for the strongman lightweight women's class division. Woot! I can't WAIT to get to maintenance...I'm so sick of trying to make the scale go down, after months of it crawling along at a snail's pace!

I hope you all are getting better weather for the holiday weekend than we are! This is definitely not camping and picnic weather! :D

jamsk8r 09-06-2009 01:19 PM

Lori, I almost forgot...I love YOUR new avatar pic, too! You look hot! Great outfit, too! I'm glad you're liking the ab slide thing. I didn't think of it, but you're right about working the abs, because while that won't spot-burn fat, it will make them stronger and make them tighten up, which would hold things in/up, which we like! Now, if only there was an exercise I could do to get my boobs to do that trick!

Onederchic 09-06-2009 02:23 PM

Well, my goal was to fit comfortably into a size 14. I don't know if I reached it yet because I don't have any 14s to check but I know the 16s I am wearing are ready to fall off me so that's a good sign.

david 09-06-2009 02:36 PM

i didnt make my goal ...im not disappointed about that but i do need to take it to another level as far as weekend eating and regular exercise...i like the way my body is responding to the slow weight loss,...between that and the physically demanding job i have i feel really good about my potential for a decent looking body...i started an nfl kickoff challenge thread, but i know jam is going to start a new thread and ill join that challenge as well...thanks so much everyone, because of you guys i know ill make goal...SOMEDAY!!!

MrsLovett 09-06-2009 03:08 PM

Hi!

I haven't written on this thread in a while:( Sorry! I've been slacking on the exercise front... well, slacking in my eyes. 60 something minutes per day? Today was utter crap. Woke up late, decided to do dishes first, had breakfast, procrastinated... kinda never got to exercise. I'm going to walk a bit though. Haven't done that in a while.

My weight's been holding around 120 lbs. so I made the goal for this challenge and then some! I think my goal was for 125 lbs. I forget what I started at. Anyway, time to go!

MrsLovett

Lori259 09-06-2009 03:30 PM

hahahahaha~how funny Jam~If you figure out that exercise let me know too!!! hahahahaha

Also thanks for the compliment.
AND CONGRADULATIONS ON Being so close to GOAL & maintaining!

well I guess Tommorrow is Labor day I am still around 183ish to 182ish

But I was 193.8 Or so when I started on the 4th of July So At least I aint that weight still. So Unless a miracle happens overnight I Am assuming I will not make my goal For this challenge But thats cool with me.

Although I haven't tried those size 10's on for awhile so That I will do later....Maybe I did reach a goal ~Doubt it ~LOL!

GLAD TO ALL THAT DID!!! AND GLAD TO ALL WITH LOSS of come sort~OR OTHER GOALS ACOMPLISHED~GOOD JOB EVERYONE.

What will next challenge be Jam? halloween????

will Type again 2morrow.

david 09-06-2009 08:11 PM

lori, youre a star...i bow down to you

Well since I didn't do anything yesterday I have to get all 860 in today. That is about 14 hours of exercise....Nah...don't think that will happen...

Lori259 09-07-2009 10:51 AM

OK~I looked back and my official start weight of challenge was 193.6 So I was close with my guess above.
My todays weight is 182.6 So I lost a total of 11 lbs during the challenge.
Didn't reach my Goal(My overnight miracle didn't happen!!! I am sooo unlucky LOL)

I have 1 pair of my size 10's that fit comfortably~So I will mark that as Sorta accomplished~(LOL ~Although that was 1 pair out of about 12 pairs )

I am excited to start a new challenge and have some new goals~So I will sign up as soon as you get another one started Jam.

GOOD JOB EVERYONE!!!!!

Thanks David~By the way,You did awesome this challenge .

Chele615 09-07-2009 01:58 PM

My goal weight didn't happen, as I am only at 191.2....but it's a smaller number than I started with, so that's a good thing. Now that school is back in session, I find that there is a lot more structure in my day than when I was home during the summer, so hopefully things will start going down again. My weight pretty much stayed the same throughout the entire challenge until the very end.

I was able to accomplish some things non-number wise. I began jogging on the treadmill throughout this challenge and have made it to 15 minutes straight jogging without stopping. I am very proud of that!

jamsk8r 09-07-2009 09:08 PM

Hey all! Well, I think we all gave it a good try, and got some victories along the way, so I'm calling this one a success. :)

My final report:
Start weight: 171.2
End weight: 162.4 (2.4 from my challenge goal, but still 8.8 lbs down..woot!)
Handstand kick-up goal: nope, hardly got a chance to work on it this round.
Pull-up goal: yes! My one goal reached. Now, if I could just get more than 2 in a row, lol!

Peeps, I hate to disappoint you, but I'm actually NOT going to do another challenge. To start the thread is to commit to being there for every person, keeping up with replies even if nobody else does, and lately I find I just don't have that kind of time for my 3FC habit. If somebody else wants to take over the holiday challenges, feel free, or join David's challenge, or start something totally fresh and new!

I can still be found on the Weight & Resistance Training board here at 3FC, in the monthly chat, where I usually bore them with the details of my daily workouts :D. Also, feel free to PM me, if you want to keep in touch. Make every day count, my peeps! :grouphug:

BarbPA 09-07-2009 11:02 PM

Happy Labor Day! :) I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend!

I've had a difficult time being active on this last thread. Life is wonderful and crazy...just not much time to chat.

My goal for this challenge was to firmly get out of the 230s. I feel comfortable that I've done so...My Friday weigh in was 222.6 and today was 224...I typically float up and down a couple pounds especially this time of the month. :p

I look forward to chatting with you guys around the board! If someone decides to start a new challenge I'll definitely pop in when I can.

Jam...you can't get away from me! :p

Alright 09-08-2009 09:50 AM

I started at 169.8 (we'll just say 170 so the math is easy.) I'm hovering right around 158, so I lost 12 solid pounds. My goal was to see under 155, but that didn't quite happen.

I'm really pleased with the loss.

I'm continuing on with a challenge on another site.

Good job to everyone, I need to read back and see what you all accomplished.

Lori259 09-08-2009 12:00 PM

Jams ~I will start the halloween challenge. I am not sure about the rest but maybe someone else will take it over....I will pm you bunches! I will do my best to keep up with it.I hope thats ok~I will just copy and paste your start outs if thats ok~HOPE SO~Off to start the new challenge.

Lori259 09-08-2009 12:25 PM
