May Calorie Counters' Chat

OK, about time we had a May thread as it's May 3rd already! :D

retiredone 05-03-2009 01:27 PM

I had a great day yesterday. It's my free eating day and I enjoyed every bite of food, the macaroni and cheese in particular. Yummy. Today I'm back on track counting calories and hopefully getting in my exercise.

I've been on my feet for a few hours though so I'm tired. I was making veggie meatballs for DS's wedding. I made about 250 today so in total I have 397 "meatballs" in the freezer. I also managed to burn both arms reaching into the deep fryer. I did it 3 times so I'm beginning to think I'm a very slow learner. The burns are not bad but I have 3 red patches on my arms. They'll probably be all gone by tomorrow or Tuesday at the latest. I usually bake my meatballs but it was so much faster, doing so many, to deep fry them. My house smells like a greasy spoon diner. :D

Last night I finished all the little favor bags so they are just waiting for the cookies to be put in a day or 2 before the wedding. I'm slowly marking off items on my "To Do Wedding List." I also decorated the comb for the veil. Someday before the wedding I'll take pictures and let you all see what I've been up to all winter and spring.

I've got cakes to bake this afternoon for mom's 92nd birthday in a couple of weeks. I usually do a plain or chocolate cake but this year I decided to make a peach fruit cake that mom likes and then my sister put in a request for a cherry pound cake (her favorite). As she'll be here for the weekend, I'm making that one too. But first I have to clean up the kitchen from the meatball marathon.

Take care and try and stay on plan.

PS: Thanks for the congrats on losing the 1.5. That's a lot at my age.

phatcat 05-03-2009 02:15 PM

Hi there Isabella!
397 meatballs....what a chore! I just came off the low carb diet...and I can relate to the greasy spoon smell....the frying of the meat and the splatter, ugh... too much. I've been eating low-fat for so long, that it kind of grossed me out.
Oh....a wedding...how nice...a time when the family can gather and celebrate!
And 92nd birthday for mom...you come from a healthy gene pool :-) The cakes sound yummy...enjoy.
A little about me. I live in Texas. My husband is working in Iraq...so it's just me and the cats. He'll be home for 3 weeks next month, so I would love to take off 5 lbs. before then.
I'm 51 years old and a full-time student. I'm studying to be a dental assistant. Wished I would of done it 30 years ago :-)
I'm glad to be here!
Kathy

Moved my today's post over here

Good Morning Ladies:)

Still not going to church, gee!! is been a month since I been there. Some people will think I moved away. Going to call the doctor and find out if he heard any of the results from the MRI yet. This ankle is not getting any better, and the anti inflammatory drugs are not helping with the pain either.

VEGAS-I'm going to use the laundry bag system until my ankle gets better. It was fun tossing the bags from the upstairs loft to the living room and than tossing them into the basement. The next time I''ll have DH bring them up.No I haven't heard anything about the MRI I going to call the doctor tomorrow. I'm not the good cook either. I follow cookbooks recipes, especially the ones that cook meals in 30 mins.

BIG CONGRATS on our 1 lb loss that's wonderful, your 2 lbs ahead of me.Have a good time at your baby's first BBQ birthday.

RETIRE-Congrats on your 1.5 weight loss. Hope I can say that at my Mon W-I.

Hope you mom has a better night so you can get some sleep also.

PRINNY-Thanks for explaining your schedule with me I now see and understand. Its hard when you have different schedules. I remember when my DH worked the night shift and I during the day.Do the best you can and that's all that's expected of you.

retiredone 05-03-2009 04:36 PM

Just to let you know Beach, I wasn't referring to you as old. I think we're about the same age and I'm not old!!

Hi Kathy. Wow! Going to school full time is quite the task. Glad you're enjoying it. I'm sure you'll be able to get off 5 pounds or close to it by the time your DH arrives home.

I've got the peach fruit cake in the oven. It takes 3 hours to bake on 275 and there's just under an hour left on the timer. It looks and smells wonderful. I'll have a slice on mom's birthday. I'll switch my free food day to mom's birthday and have an enjoyable day. The worst thing is, my birthday is 5 days after mom's. I won't have a cake as there should be lots left over from mom's feast.

Must get busy and mix up the cherry pound cake so it will be ready to go in the oven when the fruit cake is done.

Catch you all tomorrow.

prinny 05-03-2009 10:03 PM

Not much to report. Rode the bike only 45 mins yesterday, but 45 is better than 0 I guess. It was 5AM before I got around to starting so I was just to tired to go longer.

Will be glad when TOM is over. I want to WI, then again I don't. I am worried about the fact I have been working out less.

beach bum 05-04-2009 09:40 AM

Good Morning Ladies:)

W-I this morning and I maintained. Not worried as I had a bad month trying to nurse my bad ankle. Its a great possibility that I'm swelling up with water in that region. Here to next week.

RETIRE-Oh my goodness that was the furthest thing from my mind. Wish we had a option but we don't.We live is a very small townhouse and its great that I don't have to clean that much, but all my storage is in the basement with storage boxes of clothes to normal basement items, and every season I have to go down to get the correct clothing up,and bring the the winter ones down.

Have a great time at your mom's birthday and enjoy that peach cake. I was my mom's birthday present as I came into the world 5 mins before.

PRINNY-I hope that doctor will give me the ok to exercise a little instead of sitting on my butt. You're doing great,we all lose weight in our own time, don't get frustrated life goes on.

Have a great morning.

Thinfor5Minutes 05-04-2009 09:46 AM

I'm 51 years old and a full-time student. I'm studying to be a dental assistant. Wished I would of done it 30 years ago :-)

Yay! Good for you! My husband went back to school in his 40s and is now a certified Radiologic Technologist (fancy term for x-ray tech). He is so happy he did it! My daughter was a dental assistant -- she put herself through college doing that, and she had her pick of jobs. She now has her Ph.D. in immunology, but she could always go back to being a DA if she had to.

I am feeling so good -- have planned my meals out in advance for the week, and got up at 5:30 to exercise today. My husband and I are trying to make that our new habit.

scalewatcher 05-04-2009 11:45 AM

Good morning ladies
When I weighed this morning I was down from 192.6 to 191.8. I know it is not much but it is a move in the right direction. I had a bad day yesterday I have PTSD and I had a series of panic attacks. Then I ended up with a migraine. Some better today. I hope you all have a great day

retiredone 05-04-2009 05:41 PM

Hellew. Another busy day with wedding things. Today I finished the shower favors and photocopied pages for a little wedding coloring book I've put together for the little kids attending the wedding. Tomorrow I'm going to tackle the veil and finish sewing the chiffon ribbon trim and attach it to the comb. I've got a list of things I want to finish by the end of the week and I'm planning on getting everything done.

I think the reason I'm back on track with eating well and exercising is because I've finally got my menus planned for the month and printed out and put up on the frig. I did have a menu done for April but it was only handwritten and a bit sketchy. The end of April was more of a challenge when I decided not to buy any new groceries until I had eaten what was in the cupboards. That worked pretty good and forced me to stay with the menu (as there wasn't anything else to eat). I suppose I lived by a schedule for most of my life, first being a student and then 31 years of teaching, so that's how I function best. A creature of habit I am. This month Tuesdays are soup days so it's vegetable soup, sandwiches, fruit, cake and whipped topping for tomorrow. I love calorie counting because I can have a small piece of cake and not throw myself off plan. We eat dinner at lunch time and have a lighter supper. I only plan dinner and usually we have left-overs or a sandwich for supper.

Prinny, I know how it is to be too tired to exercise if I leave it too late. I never got on my bike until 10 pm last night and I didn't think I'd be able to do much. I lasted about half an hour. I usually don't exercise that late at night but I was determined to get in something yesterday.

Beach, hope that foot gets better. It's hard to concentrate on losing weight when you're in pain.

Thinfor5minutes, I'm right with you on planning meals out. I do so much better that way.

Scalewatcher, anything you lose is a loss. You're doing great.

Have a good day everyone. Catch you all later.

ghost 05-04-2009 06:36 PM

Hi, I havn't been around here forever but wanted to pop in and say hi!

Vegaspunkermom 05-04-2009 07:47 PM

Hello ladies & Happy May!

Welcome to all the new chatter's and hope to see you all around in the future!

Retire - WOW, you are one busy woman! Im sure your son & DIL's wedding will be amazingly gorgeous! Its always nice to have a MIL who is supportive and sweet! When is the big day? I hope your mom has a wonderful birthday & you have a nice visit with your sister! I agree on 2 things you said: 1. Living on a schedule (Im very anal and need everything on a schedule, including my darling kiddos) & 2. I LOVE calorie counting because it leaves room for a tiny bit of cake or what not!

Beach - Any Dr results? Im glad the new laundry method worked out well for you, and CONGRATS on maintaining, thats so wonderful! Seems like you & I will be saying goodbye for good to those 160's in no time.

Prinny - Your TOM is leaving, mine is coming, thanks for sending her over. LOL

Thin - Welcome! I also meal plan now. Ive been using meals for the past 2 weeks from Cooking Light magazine. Where do you find your meals from?

Scale - Im sorry about your gain, but your attitude is WONDERFUL!! I would never be that positive and I look up to you for being able to do so! With that outlook, you'll have the rest of that gain, and then some, gone for good!

The Birthday BBQ went GREAT! We had about 25 people total & the baby not only played in his individual cake 10x more than our daughters ever did, but he made out like a bandit with all of the gifts from everyone. I cant believe our little man is a whole year. Its honestly been the fastest year of my life thus far. My IL's were there, as well as my husband's grandmother. I gave her & MIL their Mother's Day gifts & cards early, and they did the same for me ($30 for a spa pedicure & a card that made me cry!) so I got a little present too.

I stayed OP totally yesterday! The hot dogs (I think Sassy recommended them) were DELICIOUS so thank you for that! I passed up the potato salad, cake & ice cream with ease! I even got comments on "Wow, you have some willpower!" It was nice to hear. It was even nicer to see a .4 drop on the scale this morning. I never expected a loss so Im very happy.

That all being said, I have a down-part too. I uploaded over 120 pictures of yesterday's party, and I have to honestly say, I am NOT yet happy with the way I look at different angles. I have now for SURE decided to increase my goal weight another 10lbs (145) and at that point, will re-evaluate to possible a final 5-10 (140-135) For me, its not the number, its the way I look & feel & Im not happy yet.

prinny 05-05-2009 04:54 AM

I weighed in this morning and I was .2 up. I refuse to acknowledge that, however. I am going to go back to doing proper workouts tonight, after dinner settles. I need to drink more water I know, I am hoping that was the issue from yesterday.

I am looking at how long I have till my events and I am getting frustrated. I have 3.5 weeks to the first event. I hope I can lose 6 pounds by then but I don't know. Then I have my trip in about 6 weeks. I REALLY want to be down 15 pounds by then but that REALLY isn't likely to happen now is it? I pretty much have to be at goal by mid to late July because I have an event in September which is the one I have the really small costume stuff for. I need the extra time to put the finishing touches on everything. See that whole, "it's a journey" thing doesn't work with me. I have deadlines! TICK TOCK!

Of course if I didn't have deadlines, I would be more likely to go off plan.

just.want.it.to.go.away.NOW! :(

GIGANTIC BUTT... GO AWAY!!!

Ok I am going to go do a bit of sewing then workout. Maybe tomorrow the scale will stop being a biznitch and GO DOWN.

EDIT: Well I am going to go :ebike:, already :lifter: & :yoga:. Still feeling frustrated. I am so impatient!

beach bum 05-05-2009 09:00 AM

Good Morning Ladies:)

Its raining again and the dampness it really killing my ankle. My weight in up a little also, can't wait until I can exercise again.

THIN FOR FIVE TIMES-Welcome,I agree with the planning part I would be lost without my food journal.Having your DH planning with you is a plus, more support the easier it gets.

SCALE WATCHER-Big Congrats:carrot: your weight loss, every little bit helps.I find losing a small amount stays off more than losing a large amount.Hope you feeling better today.

RETIRE-Planning & printing out a monthly meal menu is fantastic idea,I have to look in my food journal all the time and just seeing it on the refrig would make it much easier to read. Thanks for the idea.We eat our main meal at noon also, and find that the our tummy's aren't as full,by the time we go to bed.

GHOST-Hi  don't be a stranger always room for one more.

VEGAS-Called the doctor's office yesterday and the receptionist told me that they had the MRI results but they won't give me the results over the phone. She told me that he [doc]will discuss it with my at my Follow-Up on 5/14.So now I have two more weeks before I find out. Meanwhile I told her to have the doctor call me,need some thing stronger for the pain,as Ibuprofen is not helping at all.

Thanks for the congrats on my maintaining, hoping for a loss next W-I Wanted to be out of the 160's by June but, my losing is like a snail crawl, and its going to take longer.

Glad you had a great time at the BBQ birthday party for your son,and controlling your eating, you did great as the scale dropped in your favor this morning. Big Congrats:carrot: for that. Cameras always make you look larger, look in the mirror it might tell you something different.

PRINNY PRINNY PRINNY-Don't beat yourself up,it not worth it. Remember you fluctuate every day and of course the scale is going to go up & down. Don't go by that daily # until the end of your week and than average it out. Other wise your better off weighing-in once a week,if the fluctuation is going to bother you.

Have a great morning

Vegaspunkermom 05-05-2009 01:37 PM

Prinny - Believe me I know its frustrating. I dont have deadlines, but Im impatient anyway. You just have to keep at it. As upset as you're going to get isnt going to make the weight come off any faster. Know that I feel you though.

Beach - No results over the phone, so they make you wait 2 weeks! Id be upset at that! If I were you, Id either move my appt. up, or when you speak with the Dr, Id say walking around for 2 more weeks without an answer just isnt going to cut it! I agree about the camera always adding weight, but I want to be able to take a picture of myself, any angle, and LOVE it! Thats one of my non scale goals now. I have a long way to go.

Im still maintaining. W-I today at 165.2 again. Ill take that over a gain. Im not sure if TOM is about to me here or not. I DO feel more hungry like when its about to arrive, but I also have energy, so Im confused. I guess only time will tell.

Out with my best friend tonight, then tomorrow is James' 1 year old checkup & shots. I always despise shots :/

WhitePicketFences 05-05-2009 02:01 PM

I am going to have to get a cooking light subscription one of these days ... maybe for my birthday.

Beach bum, that is frustrating to wait ... maybe they could make time to see you now and give you results if you are willing to keep your more leisurely follow-up appointment.

Prinny, I feel you. I am going to a family reunion type of event in a week and a half and I wish it could've been a few months later, when I'd actually be, or at least feel, thin. Ditto with the relatives coming to visit me the first week in June. Like all my events are nowish, but I was planning to be actually look hot this fall. Annyong.

I try not to let the fluctuation get me down because I am definitely still losing, but this week in particular I felt like I really 'eeked' out the 2 lbs I officially lost. I didn't see lower than 187 until Saturday, where I had three days of seeing 183-185. Got a solid official weigh-in on Monday and now this morning the scale clearly showed 186. Doesn't sound bad, maybe, but it almost never shows higher like that. After Monday it usually shows the same weight for a few days until a lower fluctuation sets in toward the end of the week. So I feel all nervous that my 185 wasn't real. I try not to get hung up on one week in particular since my trend is so downward, but I am anxious to be 70 lbs down and then get into the 170s.

Anyway. Once I get to rambling about my weigh-in, then there I go ...

Lovely91 05-05-2009 02:25 PM

I haven't lost a pound in 10 days.
Yes, I'm following my plan I eat every 3 hours to keep my metabolism working, I eat my color's, I do my exercise, I just don't know why the number is still the same!!

retiredone 05-05-2009 08:36 PM

Hi Lovely, the scale sometimes does that to us. I went 6 weeks one time without losing an ounce and then I started losing again. This time I'm up and down. Don't give up. One day you'll step on the scale and you'll be down a few pounds and you'll feel great.

Beach, I'd be upset if I had to wait that long for the MRI results. Your ankle could be worse by then or all better (hopefully). I'd see if I could get an earlier appointment. Maybe he could squeeze you in first thing in the morning or something like that.

Well, I blew it today. I made homemade bread and you know what I did, don't you? That's right I indulged in 2 slices for dinner and then at supper time I went hog wild and ate one slice after another toasted with margarine. Oh well, I enjoyed it so much. I haven't had toast with margarine in such a long time and then to have homemade bread toasted was just too much. I'm just glad I didn't have butter in the frig or I might still be eating. I'll lighten up my meals a bit tomorrow though so that'll help some.

My plans for finishing the wedding veil went out the window today. We had a power outage this afternoon for about an hour. I knew about it and that was OK. But when the power came back on half of our house had no power in the outlets. DH couldn't fix it and couldn't get an electrician until tomorrow. Of course my sewing machine was on the side of the house with no power and I didn't want to move it as I had all my sewing gear set up on the dining room table. Fortunately, we do have the power back now. DH's brother had the same thing happen at his house a few months ago and he knew what to do. There was an overload on the breaker that powered the outlets. We unplugged everything and the power came back. That will save lots of $$$$. So tomorrow I finish the veil.

While the power was out I cleaned my patio doors and the front window and door. I felt like Martha Stewart. She did a demo on cleaning windows this week and that's all I could think about when I was cleaning the windows. Then I dusted the living room and mom's room. A few hours a week without power could be a real boon to my housekeeping skills. :D

I did get in an hour on my bike so the day wasn't a total loss.

Have a good day everyone.

beach bum 05-06-2009 09:37 AM

Good Morning Ladies:)

Its now 4 day straight that its been raining:rain: and damp:brr:. Can't stand this weather,I getting cabin fever, staying in all day all for that amount of time.

Well my doctor called yesterday afternoon and sent my pharmacy a prescription for a pain killer. Leo is going out to get it for me,even if his back is hurting in the dampness.

VEGAS-I was upset, but I'm lucky:lucky: that I got an appointment. The doctor that we have here is very very busy he has lots of hip & knee replacements to do,as 33% of the people in our town are senior citizen. Now that I have the pain killers it won't be that bad to wait.

I haven't taken a photo me since our last vacation in Sept 2008,I not as brave. Big Congrats:carrot: on maintaining like you said it isn't a gain. I hope that my maintain will turn into lose next week now that I'm at the low end of my calorie range 1300-1500 especially when I can't exercise.

WHITE FENCES-Thanks I know the waiting was frustrating ,but as long as I can get get relieve from the pain killers it will be ok to wait.

RETIRE-Its been 4 weeks now that I twisted my ankle and the only thing I'm asking for is a stronger pain killer, and know that I have that I'll just keep on doing the RICE method[REST,ICE,COMPRESS & ELEVATION]I'm sure he looked over my MRI before deciding what pain killer I needed.

Home made bread, Oh I LOVE  BREAD. We were talking about that on another board that I post to. They made there bread with a bread mix where you just add water. Is that what you do or do you have a bread machine???? Would love to try to bake some.

Thinfor5Minutes 05-06-2009 10:09 AM

I'm down several pounds so far this month...I know this is mostly water weight, so I am enjoying it while it lasts!!!

bargoo 05-06-2009 10:30 AM

Home made baked bread ! I wouldn't dare have that in the house. Warm out of the oven with lots of butter......I have no will power there.

CandySue 05-06-2009 12:19 PM

Hi Gang! I'm following the suggestion of my current weight X 7 to determine calorie intake for weight loss. The scale is moving down.:carrot:It really works. Before this calculation I would bump from 1800 calories, back down to 1200 calories, only to be totally frustrated!! Eating lots of packaged foods, but I'm on the run a lot. I have to do what works. Including fruits and veggies too. Thanks for everyone's help!!

retiredone 05-06-2009 05:41 PM

Hi CandySue. Welcome.

Beach, the bread was made from scratch with the only bread machine I possess--my two hands. Actually, I don't like the bread and roll mixes that are very popular in my area. The whole wheat seems to have a bitter taste to it and the white, although it tastes good, is white and I try to have as much whole grains as possible. I've made bread most of my married life except for the last couple of years. I think I'm back to doing it again. I've found a simpler method of using only a little yeast and leaving it overnight. I do knead it but it raises so nicely overnight that I think I'll stick with that method. I was really pleased with this last batch. When the kids were little and we were all taking lunches every day I'd make 12-15 loaves every two weeks.

Bargoo, I lost my will power by supper time last night and ate about half a loaf...sigh...but all is under control today.

Thin4fiveminutes, now how do you know that's water weight? Don't be so hard on yourself.

I've eaten very light today but I'm still hungry and have loads of calories left so I guess there will be a snack later on. Probably an apple and maybe a cheese stick. Have to get on my bike yet today. I was busy today and did get the veil finished. It looks very nice and DS's fiance is pleased with the finished product so that's all that matters.

I also broke my iron today. I knocked it off the ironing board and little pieces broke off and there are several cracks in the plastic body. It still works so I guess I'll hang on to it for another little while. Poor old iron only sees the light of day about once a month, if that. I've had it for years.

Well, have a nice day everyone and stay away from the fresh bread. :D

L.J. 05-06-2009 06:40 PM

Hello....given it much thought, and I think counting calories is the way to go for me. May I join in?
Did the 7X my weight (thank you CandySue)

Good Early Morning Ladies :)

I had to get up early this morning to take my second pill the pain killer lasted 16 hrs.I'm so pleased as now I only have to take one per day, when needed.

The pouring rain has to stop,it did for awhile yesterday afternoon when the sun came peeking thought put I guess during the night the rain started and its pouring again.I can't take it anymore.

Was supposed to go out shopping to Walmarts for some vitamins for my joint pain, but I'm not going to let Leo drive when his not feeling well either.

The one thing we have to look forward to is to watch the Players golf tournament this whole weekend,as we are great golf fans, too bad we don't play.

THIN-Glad your down for the month,I'd take that also, even if it water it s a start. Big congrats for that.

BARGOO-Its amazing how many people love bread,I would love to bake it,but I always have problems killing the yeast and another lady from another board told me about the bread mixes that you only add water,so it sounded so simple and I'll have to try.

CANDYSUE-That's the method that the B/L uses. When I times my weight by 7, I thought that that was to low for me,so I moved mine up a few 100 calories. Good for you that it s working for you and you loss big congrats for that.

RETIRE-Your a pro when it comes to bread making. I don't think I could ever start from scratch,I even can kill yeast when I try. Going to try the just add water mixes and if I don;t like them I will return to my local bakery.

LJ- welcome, if course you can join, the more they merrier I always say.

Time for breakfast,getting hungry

Vegaspunkermom 05-07-2009 11:59 AM

Hello everyone, Im here! :)

All THREE of my kids got the stomach flu Tuesday, all of them are better now. The baby had it the worst by far, but that could be because his molars are coming in to top it off. Luckily hubby & I are fine so far! Please keep your fingers crossed for me!

Retire - Sorry about your bread episode. Im sure it was SO SO good, & I hope you took a few bites for me!! Mmmm homemade bread!! I agree with the power outage being good for housekeeping. I hate cleaning, but keep a very neat home. Odd right? I hope you get all the wedding things in order again!

Lovely - Hang in there, it will come off!

Thin - Pounds are pounds, CONGRATS!! Keep it up!!

CandySue - Welcome! Ive heard you should x your GOAL weight by 10 to get your daily calories. Not sure which. Ive been eating 1300-1400 daily for almost 6 months and feel great. Ive only gotten 1 plateau as well. I hope you lose, lose lose!!!

LJ - Welcome!! :)

Beach - Im sorry its been rainy & blah there. If you want, come on out to Vegas. It was 100 here yesterday, a dry heat. Ive been buying the girls shorts & tank tops to be ready. The baby already has a stocked wardrobe! Im happy the pain killers are working. Have you been doing any upper body things? I hope you have a nice loss soon!!

Soooooooo Im HAPPY!! I W-I this morning & low and behold, I dropped 2.4lbs! Thats freakin amazing, and Im ecstatic, but Im not sure why or how this exactly happened. I didnt exercise hard, I ate regularly. The only clue I have is dealing with the kids tummy bug. Up & down stairs, changing sheets, laundry, etc. etc. At any rate, Im SOOOO happy and this is great motivation for me! I needed that loss because Im SO close I can taste it now!

I took a solo time yesterday while hubby was off & went to Kohls to do some shopping. I got these brown dress pants for an event next week in a Juniors size 9 = to a Women's size 8! I cant believe it! I also got a cute dress for my little sister's high school graduation in June. Its a happy day!

Hope everyone is having a great day!

retiredone 05-07-2009 01:10 PM

WTG, Vegaspunkermom, on the weight loss. You're almost to goal. And I think I probably ate a slice of bread for everyone on this thread. :D

Beach, glad the pain killer worked for you. I'll bet you slept better, too.

I made oatmeal raisin cookies and date squares today. I allowed myself a cookie and some cookie dough. I'm not sure how many calories yet until I punch everything into fitday. The date squares are for the weekend when my friend is coming to dinner. She loves date squares but she's diabetic so I made on pan with Splenda just for her. I was going to tackle the bridesmaid's shawls this afternoon but I don't know if I will as I'm kind of sleepy today. Maybe I'll have a little nap and feel more refreshed when I wake up.

I'm keeping on plan so far today (except for the cookie dough but that wasn't much). My Weigh In day is Saturday morning so only one more day to keep "good" until W day. Have a good day everyone.

My sleep schedule is really messed up right now, even for me. Especially if I plan on going dancing tomorrow. So tired but need to stay up to fix it.

Was good and worked out this morning, been good with eating, just need to keep drinking water and try to STOP with the caffeine today even though I feel like a zombie about now.

I'm going to go stare at the wall now while my brain rots.

Oh yeah I finally got around to measuring myself. It's actually been a month since I did last time. Down to 40.5/29/42 I started at 41.5/31/45 so from when I started this a loss of 1/2/3 <--freaky! I have also lost 2 inches off my thighs incidentally. I need to get down to max of 26 preferably back to 24 which I used to have at 135.

24 what?? Not your waist???? Wow, that will be tiny. You'll be Barbie. :D

When I was a dancer I was 36/24/36. Yes that was years ago but I should be able to get close to that again.

Vegaspunkermom 05-07-2009 07:17 PM

Retire - Thank you for the congrats! Both the cookies & date bars sound delicious!! Im not diabetic, but I use Splenda instead of sugar in just about everything now-a-days. Ive realized sugar free = way less calories!

Prinny - Oooo I wanna play! I was just watching Tivo'd Biggest Loser yesterday and kicking myself in the face for not taking total before photos from different angles and doing my before measurments. I guess it was because I never really thought Id get this far with this. I knew I wanted it very badly, but wanting and doing were two different things. Im going to leave this post and go measure myself right now, HA!.....

Alright my measurements are 36/28/38 & Im 5'7". How awful is that for my height?

Tiny young things!!

Good Morning Ladies:)

I can't believe the sun is out,but I'm not going out,Leo is going to the barber and than doing the shopping as the pain killers are making me so sleepy.

Going to attempt to get my laundry done today, and bring some of my light weight clothing upstairs. Have to separate the whites from the other clothes with two laundry bags. TG we don't have any more heavy clothes to wash.

Got a sneak peak on the scale and I'm not doing well this week, it could be the meds or water retention. Lets see what Monday brings.

VEGAS-BIG CONGRATS on your 2.4 lb weight loss. you're doing terrific, you'll be oiut of the 160's in no time. Sorry to hear that 3 of your children have the stomach flu.Oh gee!! How did you manage when they all are not feeling well and need there mommy. You better take care of yourself also. Will say a extra prayer for you.

Thanks for the invite, but DH & I are happy where we are, 100% temps is not our cup of tea. I haven't started to do any form of exercising yet, that's my problem, don't want to stretch or ride my bike until the doctor says is ok.I'm eating at the low end of my calorie range and from what I posted above isn't not helping.

RETIRE-Didn't sleep very well last night as I napped 3x 's yesterday afternoon and that interrupts my sleeping pattern at night. Hopefully I find my ZZZ's tonight. I LOVE raisin oatmeal cookies but I rather lazy to bake than so I buy my from the grocery store. (90cals) for 1 cookie.

PRINNY-WOW retire is correct to say you tiny things,I will never mention my measurements but they doubled yours. Hope you find your zzzzz's not sleeping for for the birds.

Have a great morning

Friday, YAY!!

Beach - Hooray for sun in your neck of the woods today. Its supposed to be 96 today with a light breeze. To me that means its hot with a blow dryer feeling in your face. Thanks for the WL congrats! Im sorry the scale isnt being kind to you right now. Hang in there, Im sure a loss is in the cards for you very soon! The kids only had the bug for one day. The baby had it worst of all, and luckily my younger daughter only vomitted once while my husband was home, so he helped. I kept their food light for 2 days, with no dairy, they rested alot, and all 3 are well!

Things are good over here today! W-I was the same at 163. Last night I went out with my best friend & her dad, and for the first time, I wore shorts out in years. I even paired them with a tank top, and I felt great in it! It was a NSV. I got compliments from hubby, best friend, and a worker at the casino I know :)

prinny 05-08-2009 08:35 PM

Vegaspunkermom Uh, that's not bad at ALL! *wolf whistle*

retiredone I'm not THAT young. I turn 40 this year.

beach bum Slept for about 15 hours last night, but still feel groggy. It'll take a while to even out.

I can't stand heat and sun. YUCK! I burn really fast even with sun screen and if it's over 75 I absolutely melt.

SO... I am supposed to go dancing tonight. My DH is taking a nap right now to see if he can handle going out since he got up really early. I got up early, for me, at 9:30 so I am going to be really tired if I go too. Bleh. I am afraid if I take a nap neither of us will get up though. *sigh*

If no dancing then I will ride the bike for a while tonight. Was down to 155 this morning but want to get out of the 150's ASAP. I wore some size 12 pants today even if they were a little on the small side. I am out of clean pants... guess I need to do laundry. bleh.

Good morning...
Few quick questions...any idea how many calories burned doing WATP 2 mile tape or how I can find out.
Calories in 4 oz chicken breast and 4 oz ground turkey burger?
How often to you check your weight progress?

Any input would be appreciated. I did my calorie intake check with the suggestion of CandySue..I can live with the out come, just have to readjust my "way of thinking" First 3 days were a bomb, trying to adjust..used to counting 'another' way.

I'm just hoping I can stay focused. I walked the 2 miles tape this AM so I'm motivated. Had my breakfast and thought I'd jump on here and ask for some input...
Have a lovely weekend wherever you all are...they go soooo fast.

Hi Ladies,

I'm new to Calorie Counting and have read up on previous posts so I just wanted to say hello.

Background: I am 29, married, live in Richmond IN, work full time as a CSR for Land O Lakes Purina Feed, and am starting this weight loss journey with my head held high. I've tried LAWL, Atkins, S.Beach, and most recently WW. I lost of LAWL but they have since gone out of business.

I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone.

Regards,
Michelle

Good Morning Ladies:)

Nothing new, going to see if I can go joy riding with Leo to the grocery store as I getting cabin fever and must get outside.Suppose to rain again, but I guess its better than snow.

Had to take my meds early this morning as the pain was severe that actually woke me up from my sleep. TG I have a doctors appointment this Thursday and the mystery of the MRI will be revealed.

Going to do something different next week with my meal plans as I'm slipping up on the scale again. Going to cut some of the bread carbs that I'm having.

VEGAS-Thanks I hope your right.Congrats on your NSV its always nice to hear compliments after working hard trying to improve you health. I do sympathize with you with sickness going thought the house my DD has 4 small children all under 8 and when one gets it the whole family gets sick.

PRINNY-Wow that's a long time, I lucky to get my reg 8 hrs. But I understand the older you get the less sleep you need.
I'm not a sun lover either,I'm not saying I don't go out in shorts & short sleeve top in the summer but I don't lounge in the backyard for sun bathing. Oh Prinny to be in the 150's again I would give anything.

LJ-I'm not use how many calories are burn off din a WATP's video. I'd go to Leslie's Web site and if there a message board there I would ask and find out.

A 4 oz chicken[roasted without skin 175c] or ground turkey burger[170c] from my calorie counter book from Calorie King .

I w-i every day and than average it up on my official W-I day.

Have agreat morning will come back later

retiredone 05-09-2009 05:00 PM

Hi Michelle. Come and join in the chat any time you want.

L.J. I weigh in every Saturday morning. I can't take the pressure of everyday but I think when I get down to goal I may go back to every day just to make sure the weight doesn't slip back on without me noticing.

Beach, you need some to kiss your foot and make it all better. How's the doctor at that? Hope you soon get some relief from the pain.

Prinny, I don't do the sun very well myself. I have a sun intolerance and break out in a rash if I get much exposure at all. By August I'm fine again as I've adjusted to the sun but June and July can be very trying to my skin...sigh...And BTW, 40 is young if you are almost 57 (me). :D

Vegas, shorts are great. So glad you felt so good about yourself.

We had no water for half the day (12 hours). The main water line had a break and everything was turned off all over town until it was fixed. We were rationing water all day trying to get teeth brushed and dishes washed. No baths or showers until late this afternoon when the water finally came back on. Boy or boy do you ever miss water when you can't have it. I'd rather be without electricity (in the warm weather anyway) than water.

I weighed in this morning and lost a pound this week. Finally out of the 140s again. I'm turning my back on the 140s and embracing the 130s for the next few weeks. I'm determined to be at goal by DS's wedding day in July.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.
