Hello all, just got back from the doctors office. As we suspected my have hypothyroidism and and also a progesterone imbalance. Starting me on medication tomorrow for both, also have to get a blood pressure cuff to monitor for hypertension. Also completely negating the wish to get pregnant for right now I am going to start on a low dose birth control just until we can get my body all stable and hopefully loose some pounds. She said the meds would help me to lose weight easier as well, and I am getting a GWF tomorrow my husband bought for me as a gift. Worked with doc on setting up calorie goals and exercise goals today. Also start my gym class tonight, so wish me luck......

Prinny- hope your days get better.
Melwolfe-so glad you had a good time and even lost weight.
Beach- glad to see someone else is zigzagging, thats what doc is having me start.
Vegas- glad to see you are back at 161, now on to some more right!!!

prinny 05-26-2009 06:51 PM

beach bum Glad to see you can exercise again. I know that will make you feel better on several levels.

Vegaspunkermom
Yeah I have no idea what's wrong with companies. I think it makes me so frustrated because I actually feel like I am being discriminated against because of my abnormal schedule.

Of course today I have been up since 7PM last night and I will be going to bed at probably around 7PM tonight since I am trying to shift my schedule around for an event this weekend. It'll be interesting to see how the GWF handles THAT.

Yes I do occasionally stay up for 24 hours... what? I have stuff to do! Like making hats and taking in my DH's clothes for this weekend.

retiredone Intense cooking sessions ARE exercise. I know two years ago when I made a HUGE traditional Thanksgiving for my Husband's family which took 3 days to cook. I actually LOST WEIGHT that week even though I ate and tasted constantly. Of course I was also cleaning between cooking and exhausted. NOT volunteering for that again for a few more years, I tell ya.

Cebsme Good to see your doc is getting you on the right track. Nice to know it isn't all your fault... unlike most of us who were just lazy pigs. ;)

Ok I haven't weighed in a few days because I was afraid to. I think I will weigh in whenever I get up. 24 hour days are usually good for the scale, especially since I never have the energy to pull them without working out just before dawn. We shall see what tomorrow holds.

cincimom11 05-26-2009 10:38 PM

Hey, everyone! I'm new, and I've been counting calories since Thursday. I tried exercising and eating right to lose the baby weight (my bundle of joy is five months old already), but nothing happened. My doctor told me to calorie-count, start a food diary, and increase the duration of my exercise. I'm aiming for 1800 calories/day and 45-75 minutes of exercise/day.

beach bum 05-27-2009 09:25 AM

Good Morning Ladies :)

The rainy weather is among is again so I guess I will be using my bike for exercise today.

Won't be on the board tomorrow morning as Leo is going to have his second eye surgery at 8 AM so we will have to leave every early.

MELWOLFE-Congrats on your 2 lbs.loss.I'm hoping that I will follow suit being on a low carb diet for a while.Know what you mean about the weekends and especially the holiday ones. There's always something extra that you eat that's not on the plan, and does one eat a little,no always goes back for seconds.

VEGAS-That great that your losing again,by all means stay on the calorie range that's working for you.As I told you before decreasing my calorie intake because I wasn't exercising really hurt me, weight wise. I guess that's why some diet plans don't allow you to snack especially in the evening.I stop snacking at 7 PM.

I think any source of exercising is helping getting the stuffiness out of my leg. Not hurting anymore,so when I go back to the doctor I just get the MRI results that the took of my back.

RETIRE-Gee!! Your really cooking there 214 quiches, how you do it is beyond me. I can image with all that baking & cooking your don't have time to exercise ,glad that you at least got some in by watching tv. My bike is in the spare room so I get the pedaling done in the afternoon while watching a movie from the computer.

CEBSME-Yikes sorry about your thyroid &
progesterone imbalance. I'm sure now that you know, you can plan better for losing that weight. Hoping and crossing my fingers that your get the weight off so you can get pregnant and until then good luck starting a gym class.I find that zig zigzagging helped me at WW when I doing the points. Always let your body keep on guessing is my motto.

PRINNY-Thanks,Now if only I can increase the workouts, with out hurting again, that will be a plus.Good Luck at the scale.

CINCIMOM-Welcome to the thread & board. I'm sure the weight will come off if you stay on the program of counting calories and exercising along with your doctors help, looks like your starting on the right foot.

Have a great morning.

Vegaspunkermom 05-27-2009 10:02 PM

Hi everyone! :D

Cesbe - Im sorry about your diagnosis, but I am happy you're taking steps in the right direction. As you know, I have some experience in TTC and I wanted to recommend a website for you. Its alot like 3FC but for trying to get pregnant. It really helped me, so perhaps you could benefit from it a bit. its www.fertilityfriend.com if you're interested. I am no longer on there, but was for about 4 years.

Prinny - How'd the WI go? You havent posted today, so Im hoping it went SO well that you were celebrating instead of posting LOL. Since you're so handy at sewing and creating things, Ill take something while you're at it, HA. Im hardly a joker today!

Cinci - Welcome to the group! I know ALL about baby weight. I have 3 kids (almost 5, almost 3, and just turned 1) and have since lost ALL my baby weight and am now thinner than I was before ever having kids. You can do it!

Beach - Your so good that you can stop snacking after 7! We eat dinner at 630! I have my one snack around 815-830, and then go to bed around 930-10pm. I hope Leo's surgery goes well and we'll miss you tomorrow!

I went to the gym with my mom!! I did a Zumba class for a whole hour and it was HARD! I hope it shows on the scale tomorrow morning (fingers crossed!)

Hope everyone else is well & losing!

Cebsme 05-27-2009 10:19 PM

Vegas-Actually fertilityfriend is what started me on all this. I started using it and took it to my OB/GYN who for some reason thought it was normal for a 25 y/o woman to only have TOM every 40-60 days. When I found this new doc through a friend the first thing she asked for was my printouts from FF. The temperatures, irregular TOM, and other stuff was what prompted her to test for what she did. That site, even though we are putting the baby thing on hold for 6 months, has probably saved my life. I could have kept going not knowing what was wrong for so long.

prinny 05-28-2009 01:19 AM

WI was stupid. I haven't budged. No idea why. Also my TOM is late, and I know I am not pregnant. I think my body is just being weird. It does that like twice a year.

meh.

I refused to go to dinner with my DH and a friend of his because I decided I couldn't afford even one questionable meal right now. I want to 150 by Saturday, dangit. Oh well, lots to do maybe tomorrow will be better.

Vegaspunkermom 05-28-2009 09:28 AM

Its early, I have yet to WI from exercising my butt off yesterday. I happened to have the computer window open from my post last night, refreshed it, and wanted to reply.

Cesbe - Im SO happy you found FF and its helped you. That site was my lifesaver, and I was 19 & 20 y/o with TOM every 3-4 months and I was NOT overweight at all at that time. Finding a good Dr is one of the hardest parts for sure. Its amazing how many are uneducated about newer issues involving TOM & fertility. Actually, it was a woman on FF (not a Dr) who I began speaking to, and she was the one that taught me about PCOS and had me go get tested. She was correct and I was diagnosed with it in 2006. As Ive said before, its taken charting, temping, and Clomid to have 2 out of my 3babies (our middle daughter was an amazing surprise!). A long hard road I know all too well, and I am very lucky. If you ever need to PM to talk about any of it, please go right ahead. Ive been there.

Prinny - Prinny my TOM was 6 days late this month too! I think exercising and having our bodies all wacked around might cause our TOM's to be early or late. I would bet money you'll hit 150 by Saturday!

Alright, Im off to drink my coffee, slowly ha! If any of you think of a way to tell my almost 13 month old son to sleep just a little longer in the mornings, let me know!

melwolfe 05-28-2009 09:31 AM

Prinny, was GWF able to fix your issues?

cincimom11 05-28-2009 10:41 AM

Wow! I LOVE calorie counting! I'm down 5.4 pounds this week! I tried eating healthy and exercising for 2 months, and nothing happened. I am now totally committed to counting calories!

beach bum 05-28-2009 02:52 PM

Hi Ladies :)

Got back from the eye clinic around 12n,but I had to cook my dinner,as I was starving.

Everything went well, with Leos second eye surgery. This time it was his right eye. Before the surgery the doctor had to check his left eye and hes seeing 20x20,and he doesn't need glasses anymore when driving.

VEGAS-I'm not a saint when it come to not snacking. We eat supper at 5 PM and than and than in bed by ten. So I have to watch not to have anything to close to bed time of I get heartburn, and that not fun. Thanks the surgery went well see above post.

PRINNY-Sorry that scale wasn't nice to you. Don't have tom come around anymore so I can't help you there.

CINCIMOM-Big congrats on your 5.3 weight loss.WOW!!! you're doing fantastic. See counting calories does work.I ditched the diets along ago.

Have a great afternoon,I have banana cake in the oven that has to come out.

prinny 05-28-2009 07:01 PM

Haven't heard from GWF yet. I think my email got lost in the ether.

Was up TWO FREAKIN POUNDS today!!! I have been good the last two days. Whiskey.Tango.Foxtrot.OVER.

My body is officially FIRED.

My DH says I need to stay off the scale till after TOM is over because between PMS and allergies I probably have 7 pounds of water weight. Of course he's probably right.

beach bum 05-29-2009 07:33 AM

Good Morning Ladies:)

Its going to be another drive out to far end of the Cape this time,to have Leos follow up appointment. His reg eye doctor in our area is going out of town,so we have to take this one. After that it should calm down, and its just my follow up appointment to see what the last MRI read.

A little disappointed on the scale this morn,it brought me up 2 lbs from being on a low carb plan, for no reason I can see,but that might be down by the time my Monday W-I rolls around.

Have ageat morning,I have to go and get ready for the long drive, see you gals later.

Vegaspunkermom 05-29-2009 11:01 AM

Prinny - Im sorry for the gain, but I agree with your DH. I know before my TOM Im up 2-3lbs and get pissed. In fact, this month, I was up 2lbs AFTER TOM for a few days.

Beach - Im glad your husband's surgery went well, and that soon you will be able to relax with Dr appts. Good news or not, those are always stressful. Im sorry to hear about your gain, but I hope that falls off by Monday. Im sure it will!

Cinci - Congrats on your loss! I loved the first 2 weeks calorie counting, it really got me motivated! Know it will slow down, but it WILL come off! Keep it up!

Well, I went from 161.8 to 161.0 at my W-I yesterday. UGH. I am NOT satisfied with that. Part of me is upset because now my last few pounds are so ridiculously slow. Another part of me is okay with it being slow because Ive lost most of the weight, and feel great about myself. I hope Monday brings me a lower number. Ill take seeing 160 even on the scale, but would really like 159lbs, which would complete alot of mini goals for me.

My baby really started walking these past few days. I always seem to have later walkers, as he is almost 13 months old. My oldest daughter was 12 months, and middle daughter was 13 months also.

Have a nice Friday everyone :) Im going to be doing some Pilates in about an hour after the baby lies down for his nap.

prinny 05-29-2009 04:41 PM

Ok so today I was 150.8... close but no cigar. I have to actually be 150 to make my mini goal so I am going to miss it by a few days looks like. Feh.

Anyway, waist is down to 28 which is still several inches too big.

Saturday is an event. I will be walking all day but there will probably be a beer or two and I doubt there are going to be many good food choices as well which is no doubt going to screw me up again. We are taking some portable snacks but, well, next week is probably going to be rough.

edit: ARGH! HUNGRY DAY! I know it's because I upped my weights by 5pounds each and 5 on each side of the bowflex. I am sore today, so of course I am HUNGRY. Can of tuna here I come!

retiredone 05-30-2009 08:12 AM

 Hi everyone. This has been one hectic week. So busy with wedding plans and taking care of mom. I managed to rid myself of the birthday poundage. Lost 3.5 pounds this week so I guess next week may be a stand still as far as weight goes.

Have a nice weekend.

beach bum 05-30-2009 09:00 AM

Good Morning Ladies:)

Nothing new, just going out this morning to get my hair cut, before the Hot & Humid weather come in.

I lost one pound of the two that I gained yesterday it has to be some kind of hidden sodium in my meals yesterday. Going to continue to drink more water to flush it out.

VEGAS-That great that the scale is moving downward for you again.I know how frustrating it can be doing everything right and some strange gain appears that you can control. Thanks, hope I see some kind of loss this Monday even if it just .5. This month was the worst with doctors appointment hope it eases a bit next month and all the months that follow.

PRINNY-You'll get there, sometimes it can be so frustrating but your losing the weight again and congrats to shrinking in inches.

RETIRE-Big congrats on your your 3.5 weight loss. :woohoo: you should be proud of that loss as I'm sure you DS is with all that you have done to make his wedding successful.

Have a great morning will come back some time to see what you gals are up to.

Vegaspunkermom 05-30-2009 10:51 AM

Weekend, whew. I suppose not really for me, since hubby works Saturdays, and Im still here doing my daily thing. However, a nice day none the less.

Prinny - 150 is 150 girly so congrats!! I freakin HATE hungry days, but it is right before your TOM right? That should explain everything! At least you're aware that you have a tough week ahead. Try & plan your calories accordingly, and drink a flippin beer for me! Ive been refusing all alcohol until I hit ultimate goal.

Retire - CONGRATS on your 3.5lb loss! :cp: Thats wonderful, and I suppose working your tail off it actually working your tail off ;)

Beach - Im happy you lost 1 out of the 2lbs. Im sure you'll lose the other little sucker in no time, and its probably just water weight! You saying you're going to go get your haircut sparked me to tell you, Im a licensed Cosmetologist, and cut hair for awhile before I became a stay at home mommy. I still keep up on my license though, so when my kids are a bit older, Ill work while they're in school. Ive also been to college and have my Assoc. in Criminal Justice, but I love being a mom the best. Anyhow, come to Vegas for a free haircut HA!

Soooooooooooo... I am a VERY VERY happy camper this morning! I didnt have to wait until Monday to see a great number! As of this morning, Im officially 159.2lbs!! I am so happy to see this number, but for SO many reasons!

* I am officially out of the 160's
* I have officially lost 50lbs!
* I am officially in the "normal" weight range for my height (not overweight or obese)
* I am officially of "normal" BMI!

I couldnt be happier, really. :D Alright, Im off to eat breakfast, and do cardio when I lie the baby down for his morning nap! Have a great day!

Cebsme 05-30-2009 11:16 AM

Just wanted to check in. DH have been "spring" cleaning all week since he has been home, its been nice. I am adjusting to my new medication. There is a whole list of foods I cant eat, or have to severely limit and only eat cooked now as they can make my medicine not work as well and they can affect my thyroid function. I have had some reaction too, which I am told is normal, but its not fun makes it hard to do too much when it hits. However it should start going away after a week. Still waiting on one more test result had a pelvic ultra sound on Thursday to check everything out down there, I am slightly worried about how much the lady that did it was writing down, always makes you nervous, especially when they are used for diagnostic purposes you aren't allowed to view the screen here.

Vegas, congrats on the 50lbs! Thats awesome.

Beach, good job getting rid of 1 of the 2, it is probably salt like you say, oh well, its a good reason to drink water.

Retire, great job!!!

Prinny, I despise hungry days, almost as much as I despise not hungry days. As vegas says 150 is 150 great job!

prinny 05-31-2009 04:11 AM

Vegaspunkermom GRATZ!!!!!!!!! WOOT WOOT!!!

retiredone Gratz on the 3.5

Cebsme I hope your med effects back off soon!

So we went to our event thingy Saturday.

I do not go out in the sun. I just don't. It makes me sick and I burn easily, so I avoid it. I wear long sleeves and 85 SPF sunscreen year round, yes even in summer. I don't do yard work except at dusk, and that rarely. Today I had on sunscreen, a hat, long sleeves and a parasol... and I still got burned. In fact I got a bit of sunstroke, and it wasn't even hot today! Like in the low '70's. We also stayed in shade as much as possible and drank water as often as we could refill my bottle. Obviously it was from the sun bouncing off the ground that did me in.

Anyway, we got in a lot of walking, I actually only blew my daily calorie budget by 200 so it's well within the acceptable range. Instead of eating the bun on my grilled chicken sandwich I opted for a beer on our way home. Why would I have beer after being dehydrated in the sun all day? TOM. My cramps are killing me. :(

Otherwise it was a really fun day. I just wish they'd move the event to some place indoors! Right now I feel like partially reconstituted dehydrated, microwaved death. I am going to go lay down and try not to take some of my old hydrocodone meds for the cramps.

beach bum 05-31-2009 07:32 AM

Good Morning Ladies:)

Well today is my first day back to church and seeing my choir friends again after being laid up for 2 months. Suppose to see the doctor next week for a follow up appointment, for a reading of my 2nd MRI.

VEGAS-BIG CONGRATS on all point below you're doing excellent in the weight dept. As for me I have at least a 28 lbs loss before everything is normal for me.Thanks I hope its gone by tomorrows W-I. Oh That's good to know if I'm ever in Vegas I look you up,but than again it would be an expensive haircut via air fare. wouldn't it. That;s great idea to use your talents after the kids are grown,MY DD is going to go back to some kind of home computer job,or work in the schools as she be home when the kids are there.

CEBSME-Sorry you have to go though so many things before the med kick in. Hope its get better with each passing day. Thanks I drinking my water was up 2 x's last night.

PRINNY-Oh MY!!! you really must be sensitive to the sun after preparing to stay safe and still getting the burn. Hope the burn wasn't that bad and now your on your way to healing.

Have a great Sunday, will drop in later.

Vegaspunkermom 05-31-2009 09:01 AM

Thanks for the congrats ladies :) Im very proud of myself.

Prinny - Wow, you're like a vampire! I am so ridiculously used to sun. Here in Vegas our summers are 115 degree dry heat from June until late September. Lately its been 94-97 degrees. However, I DO want a cute parasol, like the old school 50s pinup ones!

Beach - I hope you have a nice time at church and catching up with all of your friends. Dont worry, I wont be finished with this weight loss anytime soon either! I have 4lbs. until original goal, and another 10lbs. after that. Once Im 145lbs Ill re-evaluate and see if Im comfortable with my body. At the rate Im losing now, the 14lbs of remaining weight will take about 4 months to lose. If you ever do come to Vegas, let me know, we can do lunch anyway ;)

Cebsme - I used to HATE getting u/s done and having a tech that has to follow the rules and not show you the screen or tell you anything. The worst one was when my middle daughter was 4 months old, cranky, and I had to take her in the room with me! The lady was SUCH a B! Anyhow, dont worry perhaps she was just noting ovary sizes, measurements, etc. I hope you get used to your meds fast, and more importantly, that they work!

I had a good eating day yesterday, and exercised on the Wii Fit while both my daughters laughed at me hula hooping. I love that game, and its good cardio!

The baby woke up EARLY, Ugh! Im going to read & enjoy some coffee before my girls and husband wake up. We're going to my parents house for dinner and a visit. We also might take a swim in their pool assuming that it isnt cloudy or windy today (yes its been in the mid 90's, but was cloudy the past few days with a blow dryer like breeze)

Have a nice Sunday :)

Cebsme 05-31-2009 09:51 AM

Thanks everyone. Meds get easier every time, and woohoo my GWF alarm just went off telling me I can finally eat. 1 hour after taking my pills. So I will have to make some coffee and wake up DH.

Vegas, I just realized I am only 4 hours away from a free haircut, hmm. This weather has been awful. Cloudy and hot and kind of humid but of course no rain to speak of. We got on the wii yesterday.I unlocked the advanced step which kicked my bum.

Beach, have a great church time, I might end up missing morning services myself today and just going this evening, because I would hate my med reactions to kick in during services and it has been about that time that they kick in.

Prinny, my dad is the same way, he really has to be careful if he needs to go out in the sun. He started some new meds and even though he took all his normal precautions he got really burned and sunstroke-ish, and I believe it was about 70 that day too. Strangeness.
