Happy Monday! Like many of you, it's TOM for me-so I refuse to W-I....no sense making me feel worse than I already do!! My oldest DD and I walked 3 miles yesterday-probably the most exercise I've had since starting this process. I felt good about it, and she is very encouraging (she's 12yrs old). We hope to walk together at least 4-5 times a week. A little side note that was really funny-When we got back from our walk, my 6 year old son said, "Mama, you're back already....you don't look any skinnier!?" Oh, out of the mouths of babes! A huge congrats to all of you on each of your losses. I'm still new at this, so reading all of your posts encourage me so much. I've yo-yo dieted for years, so my new motto is: Slow and steady wins the race. Good luck to everyone this week! Let's move it so we CAN lose it! :D

Hi Ladies:)
Had to go with Leo to get his petscan,in a new place about 1 hr away from our home. When we got there,I was in the waiting room and a five minutes later the tech told me that they had to pick him 8 x's and we had to cancel the appointment, for another day. My ankle was really bothering me yesterday so I called the doctor & I finally have appointment to have a MRI on my ankle its tomorrow at 7:30 AM. and than a follow up with the orthopedic doctor. My doctor just called and my cholesterol count is down [TOTAL CH 208-TRIGLY 231-HDL 45 & LDL 117] Thanks for all the congrats wishes I really appreciate them as I was struggling the last couple of months with the stubborn poundage. RETIRE-Don't look at the scale for success, looking in the mirror and see your clothes fitting and how you feel inside is what counts. PRIMMY-Having a hungry day pops up in all diets lives. The way I solved that problem is eating more protein or good fat like avocados or peanut butter.Another filler high fiber foods and smoothies. Water doesn't fill me at all. SATRIA-Sometime when you watch to closely you might be depriving yourself but I agree with Vegas you did greatand you should be able to have a good W-I VEGAS-That the spirit, and you'll lose those 2 lbs. Thanks for the congrats, its been a while since my numbers on the scale went down. Oh I hope that i don't have a break like your mom had. Don't want to be in a boot or brace for the next 6 week. I hopes it a tendon and if can be corrected my a cortisone shot. DGRAMIE-Congrats on your 1lb,that's always a celebration in my book as it very hard to loss.,especially wen we're older. MOM OF FOUR-Congrats on your 3 mile walk, that a wonderful accomplishment. I won't W-I either if I had TOM around my house. Have a great afternoon |
That's about the cholesterol improvement.
And ha, guys, several of us seem to be TOM together. I was frankly astonished that I showed weight loss this weekend and on this morning's W-I, because usually this is the one week a month when I definitely don't. Sure enough, I am already showing back up to 189 this afternoon ... but whatever, it is already written in the notebook and my tracker! I have been thinking about my trip, too. For xmas trip I just packed dry goods like fruit and luna bars, but I think I'll bring a cooler this time. There are multiple Chili's on our route, which caught my attention because they have meals in my caloric range and we have a gift card for Chili's. But I don't know about trusting those calorie counts? |
Vegaspunkermom - Subway kind of grosses me out. I think I have had too many bad experiences. Looking into one of those road coolers so I can bring my own sandwich stuff.
Yeah i am going to cut a piece of fruit into 2 pieces and have one half between the first and second parts of my workout and the other half after so I don't wake up feeling physically drained. beach bum I have an avacado upstairs waiting for me. I might have a tiny bit for a snack later. TOM looms menacingly, hanging over me like a sword of Damocles. Little tell-tale twinges, ominous portents of doom on the horizon. Oh the misery that is to be woman. I was up today even though I was good, drank 3618263812 gallons of water, and even rode the bike for 30 on an off day. I blame a combo of PMS bloat and allergy bloat. My fingers felt chubby this morning and that's a sure sign. No amount of water drinking can really combat those two so I am off the scale till TOM is over for sure now. Oh and I have a HUGE zit on my cheek. Awesome. Just what I wanted this week. Actually this whole week is off to a really bad start. There was some debris on the highway that got kicked under our car from another car. Shredded one tire and took a chunk out of another. The bill to get the damage fixed was over $700. My car still has to be towed into the shop tomorrow. I dread how much that is going to be to fix. I might be losing weight by way of shrinking grocery budget. |
prinny- ouch those kind of accidents really hurt.
fences- I LOVE CHILis and try to avoid eating at them for the same reason and last time we ate there everything seemed so salty! I think I am really sensative to salt now. beach bum- your right it is harder to lose weigh as we get older..Im 45. I think perimenapause is a big part of my problem now. But hey I weigh so much less than this time last year!!I am also getting excited about getting so close to goal..i mean 38lbs isnt much considering how many i have lost already. mom - my kids are now grown enjoy those little comments. My youngest(19) came in on sunday and said wow mom you look 35..i dont know if she meant it or was just sucking up..but it sure made my day!!! Scales maybe slow moving but I can really tell I have dropped inches this month. Cant wait till friday to measure. retire- how are you?? hows that baby?? how are wedding plans?? |
hey guys! i've been mia. LOL. my dd had her surgery yesterday (tonsils, adnoids and tubes in her ears) so i was super busy preparing for that.
i've been working with a trainer and he's been kicking my *** weekly. i'm very happy working with him though and hoping i can continue on. lol dd is doing fine. it was funny watching her go from sober to drugged. lol. a little sad though since she is only 3. my mom is helping me watch her this week so i don't have to take all week off. happy tuesday! |
Hi Ladies:)
This morning I had my MRI and did it hurt. The tech put up my foot into a holding sleeve of the MRI and flexed it so that the pain went up to my spine. When I had my first picture done I told her to loosen the foot.Than all went well, the doctor will have the results in 3-4 days. We are still waiting for the chemo doctor[whose off today] to make up hes mind whether Leo will work with the intervenes team to insert a needle into his arm and than bought out to the petscan clinic. As I wrote previously that they can find a vain that will draw blood. Until than we have to cancel the doctor appointment until than. WHITE FENCES-My doctor told me the numbers were for an average person.Says I don't have to worry about them anymore. PRINNY-I ran out of avocado I have buy some more. I love them in a salads or just scooping out the flesh from the shin. DGRAMIE-The postmenopausal was the worst time for me I when from 129lbs up to 145 in no time. My doctor told me that was the hormonal changes that were causing the weight gains. NICKIE ROSE-Sorry about your little DD having to go though all of this. The best part I remember was to have lots of ice cream. Glad that you had your mom to help with with your daughter and Happy to hear you like your trainer ,that's 1/2 the battle, don't have a fitness center in our town anymore as curves burned down and never rebuilt. Have a great afternoon & evening |
Oops, I missed a word. Meant to write thats great about the cholesterol improvement.
And I LOVE avocados. May is the month for them too. I am always sad when months later, the avocado selections suck and I eventually stop buying them. I have been thinking lately about revolving dinners around them. Years ago the husband and I used to love avocado, tomato, mozzerella and basil sandwiches for dinner and I was thinking of making a lower cal version (1 slice of bread, a little less cheese). |
Dgramie - Congrats! 1lb. is MUCH better than nothing, or heck, even gaining!
Beach - Please keep us posted on your ankle outcome. Im sorry the MRI hurt and Im hoping its not a break for you! Also, keep that scale dropping! White - Ive had Chili's while doing my plan. I got the Margarita Chicken plate & the whole thing was under 500 calories and VERY filling! YUM! We also love avacados here in our house. Even my son, who is almost a year, LOVES them! Momof4 - A 3 mile walk is great! Its also cool you have an older DD who can be your buddy of sorts. You get a workout in AND quality time. Thats a two-fer for sure! Prinny - Yeah, then Subway is out. Your own stuff is better anyhow, unless you're lazy like me. The fruit will help alot, watch! PMS bloat will for sure put you over, but you might have alot of water still in there. Sorry about your zit. I HATE TOM! I worked out yesterday and did my pilates video AND a new Biggest Loser Bootcamp video on cable. It was a knockout. I was still at 166 this morning though, so, we'll see what Friday will bring. Ive also really gotten into Cooking Light magazine. TONS of recipes and they all have the serving sizes and calories listed. I tried these tuna sandwiches on french bread with olive oil & basil, for 243 calories and it was WONDERFUL! Tonight Im doing chicken enchiladas! |
beach bum Scary health stuff is scary. Hope you guys get past it soon. :(
WhitePicketFences There was a summer in college I ate cheese, tomato and avocado sandwiches almost everyday. Now I want one. Darnit! So I know I said no more weigh ins till after TOM but I forgot and weighed this morning. I was down to 156.4. Whoa. That puts me at 20 lost! I am almost halfway to my goal... and I get another penguin in my sig. I am starting to think my body is just insane and is randomly deciding when to lose weight and such. Then again, I am wondering if I actually need to up my calories a bit because of the muscle I am building/. That last 5 pounds came off really fast and I have been hungry lately. Oh well, whatever. On the down side I am really noticing my boobs are smaller now. /cry Still too big for a C but the D is too big now. I want my Ds back! :(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:( Since you've lost 20.2 pounds, you have 21.4 pounds to go. If you successfully lose 2.0 pounds/week, you can expect to achieve your target weight by July 14th, 2009. |
Good Morning Ladies:)
Nothing new at my neck of the woods, going to stay home and rest. The only think I will have to out to our local bakery and pick up some home made rye bread that they bake with WW brown flour. Don't like the package brands that the supermarket sells. WHITE FENCES-That's Ok I do the same thing with typing fast. I was never a avocado fan but just recently I heard that avocado supposed be a healthy fat.Don't make guacamole with it,just eat it like it is. I use the Haas Brand. VEGAS-Thanks,I think that the tech didn't realize how flexed she put my foot into the sleeve and she apologized when I complained. Should know the results by the end of this week or the beginning of next. Oh!! I hope I will keep my weight dropping, want to get out of the 160's so badly I can taste it,but it going to take longer now that I can't exercise. CROSSING :crossed: my fingers that you have a good Friday W-I. I Look for recipes in my old WW books & magazines also. PRINNY-Congrats on being 1/2 to your goal and I believe you will do it. It was scary but now that is over I can get back to my every day living. Have a nice morning |
Prinny - Congrats on being halfway! Its great to see another penguin in your siggy too! Try not to dwell on the boob thing. I did for a minute, but then thought, "Ya know, I can always buy boobs, but you cant buy true, healthy, weight loss" Besides, mine have went down (also D's) but I LIKE them more now!
Beach - Im right with you there on wanting to get out of the 160's for good. We both will do it, I just know it. Remember, there will be small hurdles along the way (such as your ankle) but we can overcome them all! Today is my best friend's birthday. She's pregnant, so we are going to gamble a bit tonight, and Im going to buy her a cupcake and give her her gift & card. Also, I have some errands to run today and the baby has his 1st birthday pictures to take this afternoon! I made the best chicken enchiladas last night for 343 calories per enchilada. I added a small salad, and wa-la, DINNER! I want to get my entire family eating the way I now do! |
Good morning!
If I leave anyone out I'm sorry-been running back and forth to my computer (I'm at work-lol) all morning trying to post this! :dizzy: Prinny-Big congrats on getting to the half-way mark :carrot: Vegaspunkermom- Those enchiladas sound great!! Maybe because I'm starving-been too busy to eat this morning :( beach bum- I know your foot problem has been a bummer, I hope you get good results and here's to a speedy recovery :) dgramie- Any progress is exciting!! :carrot: inches lost count just as much as pounds! Good luck on measuring Friday. Well, I still haven't weighed-kind of discouraged. I'm so busy with work, kids, games, practices, homework, etc. etc. that I'm finding it hard to make time for exercise. Any suggestions on workout dvds/programs would be greatly appreciated! Take care all! |
Good Afternoon from sunny Florida. I am sitting out back by the pool taking in the wonderful sounds of the waterfall. I also hear the birds singing and see butterfies flying around. This is a beautiful day. I am so thankful to have another chance to get my health back. Enjoy life everyone.
|
white picket That sounds REALLY good. i've only eaten avocados in guacamole
vegas Wow! Quite a work out day for you. Way to go! That sandwich and the chicken enchiladas sound yummy! I may have to sign up prinny Good for you on the loss....but I totall hear you on the boob situation. Same EXACT thing here. I was a C through high school and then got to a D. Those are now down to a C and I am SO bummed out! mom of four Don't get down! Keep your head up! You can do it scale Wow! You brought a smile to my face. Have a wonderful day! Not much here. I am down 3 lbs from yesterday! I was so shocked. But gonna see what tomorrow holds. I am dropping inches though. Checked this morning. My dd's surgery has my work out schedule all off. I am meeting with my trainer tomorrow and possibly this weekend but I don't really have time to do anything else. So I'm sticking to my eating schedule and then next week I am back on track! |
Hello calorie counter. Everyone seems to be melting off the pounds. I'm very faithfully counting and logging my calories on fitday and exercising at least 5 days a week so I'm hoping to see some real progress and get rid of that bouncing 5 pounds.
Dgramie, the baby is wonderful. We were watching him on the webcam the other day and he's getting so chubby. He's breast fed and flourishing. I'm still working on wedding stuff. Today I was trying to finish off the favor bags. I needed ribbon to make the little handles and couldn't get any until last Sunday when we shopped in another town. I have 40 more bags to go and then I'll start finishing the veil which I said I'd do to save a few $$$. We're starting to get the RSVPs back so it seems it is getting closer just knowing that people are replying. Well have a good day all. |
grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Generally speaking this is a really bad week. Nothing life-altering for us personally but friends with serious money problems, one whose house burnt down, sick kitties, and other issues. We have had the car issues and over 1K in repair bills this week so we can't even help our friends who are in trouble. Believe it or not, my car's electrical problems came from mice chewing the wires. MICE.
As a result of the bad week I am in a VERY bad mood. Overate by 300 calories yesterday, refused to weigh in this morning and haven't been as good as I should be today. It's also the first time since February I almost said 'f*** it' and went and got something really bad like ice cream. My DH stopped me though and we compromised and had some chinese that wasn't too awful especially since I just didn't eat the rice for some reason. I also slept funny and messed up my shoulder so that's at least 3 days with no workout. I *might* be able to ride the bike for a while but even standing still hurts so I don't know. Not doing so good. Worried about money because our reserves are dwindling, all the jobs that are what I used to do pay half of what I used to make and things just seem really bleak right now. I bet I have some brain chemistry making it all worse too, but I just want to hide under the bed till things get better. :?: Sorry to vent like that. I am just having a bad day and feel kind of lost on how to fix it all. |
Good Morning Ladies:)
Can't believe how cold it is outside. We dropped from at 54 degree at breakfast time to a 32 this morning. I glad I didn't bring my winter clothes downstairs for storage. Hoping to hear from the doctor Fri.-Mon. about my ankle. Its really bothering me today,as we're expecting a big storm tonight into tomorrow. VEGAS-Hope this ankle is not going to get the best of me, I really like to get back to a full body exercise,as I feel that if I don't start soon, the scale will be creeping up again. Had to adjust my calorie range and bring it down to 1300-1500 instead of my original 1400-1600.Hope you had a great time at the birthday party. MOM OF FOUR-Thanks,hope that I will be back to my normal life soon. As for exercising it doesn't have to be a reg route just get your self moving is the key. Dancing to some lively music or marching in place when watching TV.Do you have Comcast for your TV supplier, they have exercise tv on the demand, that has great selections. When I do mu videos I like WATP's by Leslie Sasame, hope that helps. SCALE WATCHER-Glad that your happy living in sunny Fla. Some of my friends are back,as its to hot for them. I always loved the 4 seasons and that's the reason I live on the Cape. NICKIE ROSE-:carrot:BIG CONGRATS ON YOUR 3 LB Weight Loss and shrinking in inches:carrot: keep up the good work. Glad to here you dd is getting better with each day. RETIRE-CROSSING:crossed: MY FINGERS that those 5 bounce lbs finally come off. It can be aggravating doing everything right and nothing to show for it. PRINNY-So sorry to hear about your week.VENT all you want, this is a support board along with calorie counting. Just hold on,and have some faith, the sun will shine thought those heavy clouds that are hovering over your life right now. We all have bad days and we can sympathies with you. Just take a deep breath, and start eating healthy again, and if you can't exercise cut your calorie intake a little.Sending [[[[[[Healing vibes]]]]]]]your way. |
Momof - I understand how hard it is to workout with kids. I couldnt imagine working on top of all that. I am going to second Beach's suggestion about Exercise on Demand. Do you have any free on-demand section with your cable tv? I have Cox cable, and do all my workouts free on exercise tv there. It lets me pause & stop, and they change the workouts up every month. Ive lost every pound of weight through ExerciseTV and a set of 5lb. hand weights. No gym, no extra equipment, etc. If you dont have something like that, I am a big Jillian Michael's fan from the Biggest Loser! I do ALOT of her workouts!
Nicki - Congrats on 3lbs! Thats great and I hope your little girl is healing up nicely! Im sure everything will be back to normal soon, and since you lost those 3lbs. Im confident you're doing something right! Prinny - So sorry about your bad day  I know when things get stressful, our nature is to say "f**k it" & turn to food, but you're above that now. Your willpower and knowing what you know has to prevent you from doing it. Try to do something extra good for yourself to help you relax. Remember TOM is around making things worse, and try to deal with one thing at a time so you arent too overwhelmed. Beach - I hope they have a real answer for you. I really do. Just think of this as a minor setback instead of a huge downfall. No matter what, this too shall pass, and you'll be back it. ;) Besides I need a buddy to break out of these 160's with me! I did great yesterday! Im actually proud. My husband made breakfast for dinner per my request and I had 2 eggwhites with veggies & avacado, 2 pieces of turkey bacon, and 2 slices of my new french toast idea (45 calorie bread, egg whites, 1 tsp. nonfat milk, natural vanilla, and cinnamon) and the smallest amount of sugar free syrup. HUGE meal, SO delicious (Ive missed breakfast foods) and it was under 400 calories for it all! Today my kiddos & I are going to bake some sugar cookies and decorate them. They love to bake, but oddly enough, I dont have ANY desire to eat any of the stuff now. Also, Im planning on doing laundry and cleaning to house. Im going to try to get a cardio workout in. Tomorrow is my little boy's 1st birthday:D My mom & I are going shopping for his BBQ birthday party on Sunday. |
Just a quick pop in- work is nuts this morning!! :dizzy:
Thanks for the work out suggestions- We just have basic cable, but I've looked at WATP and Jillians' videos...maybe I'll try to pick them up this week. It's still TOM, but I broke down and W-I this morning....I've lost 2 lbs, my first accomplishment on this journey :carrot: Vegaspunkermom- that meal sounds great! We will have to try that at my house this weekend! Happy early Birthday to your little one (I miss those days!)...hope the party goes well! Nicki- congrats to you!! Keep it up (or down lol)!!! :D Prinny- I say we run away to a deserted island....just kiddin....I hope things start looking up for you soon! Sometimes just taking it one minute at a time is all I can do, life can be a handful!! |
Oh, prinny. Sorry you have to deal with all that right now. Just try and hold on. You don't have to be ambitious about exercise right now, in fact you might not be able to -- but sometimes just being able to keep a semblence of status quo can be empowering. Not caving in to something you haven't been caving in to, etc.
|
Hi gals. I went shopping today and bought huge amounts of vegetables and some fruit. I still have to get more fruit but I did get a small box of Clementines and were they ever good. So sweet. I think they are about the best I've ever had.
So far this week I've done really well with eating. I didn't get in any exercise as such today but I had my mother shopping. I was pushing her in a wheel chair and at one time I was maneuvering both the wheel chair and the grocery cart until my friend finished doing her shopping and pushed mom for a while. Prinny, sorry things are so horrid for you right now. Sometimes you have to just take a break and take care of life. I'm hoping I can keep everything going well as far as eating goes. Catch you all later. |
beach bum Hope it's good news on the ankle... er... whatever that would be!
Vegaspunkermom Yeah TOM showed up last night right before bed. mom of four & WhitePicketFences & retiredone Thanks, yeah it's been a rough week. Doing a little better today. The shoulder is still sore but I think I can ride the bike later. Made homemade chicken soup for dinner tonight. Got some of the smaller corsets I ordered. The ones that are a little smaller fit so the ones that are now too big are in storage, the tiny one that should fit at goal is like 10 pounds away from getting it on at all but that's good because if I could get it on now it'd be too big at goal. Having to get extra clothes to fit on my way down is expensive and annoying but I have nothing to wear out dancing otherwise. *sigh* TOM time, not weighing till after. Just being good about food and trying to get as much workout as I can with the pulled shoulder. Lots to do, trying to get the house clean for company Sunday. Cleaning is a workout right? |
Good Morning Ladies:)
Can't believe that's its May 1st., and we're almost at the 1/2 way mark of the year. We're having a rainy & gloomy day,not going to do much today except take several trips down to the basement and get my laundry done.I decided to use 3 laundry bags instead of baskets and throw them downstairs. VEGAS-I Know, Its just taking a long time to heal,as I never had problems with my ankle before. I guess patients is a virtue but I don't have that right now, they're so much to be done and and it growing into an over sized monster. Thanks I like to be your cyper buddy by getting to our goals of saying goodbye to the 160's. Have a wonderful time with your mom getting ready for your little boy's 1st birthday party. I remember those days,36 years ago. MOM OF FOUR-Big congrats on your 2 lb loss even when TOM is still hanging around. RETIRE-I love shopping for veggies & fruit especially now that the weather is getting nicer and we have all the fresh stuff from Fla & Cal. I'm looking forward to growing my tomatoes & a few herbs in the beginning of June,as it to cold forr any planting in the month of May. PRINNY-Glad you feeling better today. Can't wait until the doctor give me the ok to go back to my normal way of living.Oh Gee!!! I haven't worn a corset in years,my poor tummy wouldn't appreciate if I started to wear one now. Have a great morning, once I see he new MAY chat thread I move this one over there. |
Happy Friday everyone!
MomofFour - CONGRATS ON YOUR 2lbs! Thats wonderful, & I bet when TOM is over, you'll drop even more. I usually hold 2lbs during TOM. Retire - Hooray for all the veggies & fruits! You know even pushing your mom in her wheelchair is exercise, as well as walking around the grocery store. I know it probably isnt nearly what you're used to, but its better than sitting at home doing nothing right? Prinny - Glad you're feeling better! Ride out the TOM front, and relax, then get back to it in a few days. Homemade soup sounds yummmmm. I agree with having to buy clothes while losing, but at least we get to look better in the end. Beach - I cant imagine any of my kids being 36, but I can imagine being a grandmother. Odd right? Stay off that darn ankle. Walking up & down the basement cant be good! Here's to us getting out of the 160's! I didnt workout yesterday. I did clean our entire home, from top to bottom. I was sweating from sweeping & mopping. I figure thats some calories burned right? I did great eating. Im REALLY getting into Cooking Light recipes even more since Tuesday's enchiladas and last night's Lime chicken with homemade salsa & rice were both GREAT. The whole family loved them both, so Im going to meal plan for the week, and make fresh low-cal meals for us all instead of any lazy, processed crud. Well, today our little man is 1! This was for sure the fastest year of my life. Everyone says it'll only go faster. Its all bittersweet. I want them young, but love to watch them grow. June is both my daughters' birthdays. I will W-I in just a bit and post the results. I am NOT too confidant, and would usually skip W-I until Monday, but this Sunday is my son's big BBQ, and I want to have extra willpower if the scale doesnt have good numbers today. So I have a Taylor brand scale and was reading around 3FC & saw MANY women complaining about innacuracy. Then when I took my oldest daughter in for a checkup, I W-I on her Drs scale & was a lb. less with clothes on, than totally naked at home on MY scale. I MIGHT get a new scale this afternoon. Any suggestions? Alright sorry for the ramble! Have a wonderful weekend! |
I was going to say Good Morning but I have been sitting here for so long looking at posts that it is now afternoon...I am new here and appreciate being able to join this group and learn what I can and see the wonderful progress that everyone has made. I am in the middle of reading "3fatchicksonadiet" book and it has made me want to take action. I am replying to your post, retire, mainly because we come from the same part of the world and also because my starting weight is the same as your was at the beginning. I hope that I have done all that I needed to do for this post to work, I am not exactly computer savvy. haha!!!
|
Today has not been productive. I have been very naughty about tracking today so when I finally entered it all in I realized I only have room for a piece of fruit later. Yesterday I didn't do a good job tracking either. The day before I was over I think I just don't want to know. I need to work out and be good or I am going to get an unpleasant surprise after TOM.
I don't see how I can possibly get the house cleaned in time for people Sunday. I am just not that motivated. In fact, I wish we could cancel for a few weeks and reschedule. Totally not into company this weekend. meh. |
Good Morning Ladies:)
Look like we're going to have another damp and miserably day.Suppose to rain all day,and it not good for my aching bones. VEGAS-Time goes by fast and before you know it the kids will be that age. Enjoy them while they are young.I found out a better way to get laundry down, put them in 3 laundry bags, and Leo will throw them down the stairs, and when the laundry is done I just fold, and put them in the bags and bring the bags upstairs. This was it won't be to hard on my ankle. VEGAS-Your new way of cooking, and the family liking the meals is a plus, and I'm very proud of you and congrats for changing to low fat & omitting the process entrees. Before you know you'll be out of the 160's eating the healthy way. I used to subscribe to the Cooking Lite & Family circle Magazines than I had too many mags and though out the the cooking light when I switched to low carbing diets.. NOVAGRANNY-Welcome to the thread. You'll find the ladies very supportive here and lots of info on calorie counting. PRINNY-You must plan you meals better. This is what I suggest, start off with 3 meals & 2 snacks by dividing your calorie count into 5 and using the amount for each meal.Add more protein and good fat along with high fiber foods that ill help you & satisfy your hunger. Have a great morning |
Good Saturday to you all ladies!
Nova - Welcome to the group! Here's wishing you fast, easy weight loss & much willpower along the way! :D Prinny - TOM can be a real downfall. Although since losing a bit, I have more energy around that time, it still isnt nearly what Id like it to be. Also, Im ALWAYS more hungry before & during TOM. Im sure you'll feel better when TOM is over & you see some bloat gone from the scale. Beach - Im so happy you figured out a better laundry method. I think you should have your husband bring UP the folded laundry bags as well until you're better. Did you ever get those MRI results? Thanks for being proud about me cooking meals. Honestly, Im a HORRIBLE cook, but recently I realized I need to have my family eat right as well (even though the kids arent anywhere near heavy) its about being healthy. Im hoping to get a Cooking Light subscription for mother's day, if not, Ill order it after that myself. I W-I yesterday and am at 165. Thats only 1lb. lost this week instead of the 2 I was shooting for, but what do I expect when I have been busy with other things instead of exercising. Ill take what I can get, and keep at it. I refused to be discouraged. The baby had a good actual birthday. We met up with my mom to buy food for his birthday BBQ tomorrow. For myself, I bought those Oscar Meyer reduced fat 45 calorie hot dogs, turkey burgers, fat free Pringles and wheat buns. There will also be ceviche, fruit salad, and a veggie tray. My mom is going to eat the healthier things with me. I plan to have a little of all of my healthy things, and no cake or ice cream. Have a wonderful day everyone, Im off to lower my ticker with a smile! :) |
Hello everyone. It's almost 2:30 am and I'm still up. Mom is having a rough night thinking she's dying (she's not!) and she's crying for the last hour or so. So that means I'm up...sigh...some nights are like that. I just gave her something to make her sleep but it might not work if she's too agitated but it will make her drowsy so she may calm down some.
I weighed in this morning and lost 1.5 pounds. I'm so happy about that. I'm actually 140 now so that means I'll break into the 130s this week for the third time this year. Hopefully that will be the last time I see 140. That how it goes sometimes. I have only about 10 pounds to go to goal and it's been harder than losing the first 50 pounds. But I'm determined to lose more before DS's wedding in July. Hi Nova. Glad you've joined us. Come and post as often as you can. It really helps to read the posts and also to post even if you don't do personals. Some of the girls are really good at replying back to everyone. I'm always amazed at their ability to do that so often. I noticed you're a few inches taller than I am. I'd love to have those extra 3 inches. But then I'd see the dust on the top of the frig. Guess I'll stay where I am. :D Beach, some of my "older" friends have moved their laundry room upstairs to a spare bedroom. Of course it's arthritis that they suffer from and other age related problems but a bad foot is just as bad when traipsing up and down stairs. Glad you figured out how to get the laundry down. Hope that foot heals up soon. Vegaspunkermom, Ditto on what Beach said about the little ones. I was just looking at baby pictures of my soon to be 30 year old. Our new grandson looks just like his daddy. I hope you took lots of pictures of the birthday party. You'll treasure those in 30 years time. Glad your feeling a bit better Prinny. Mom seems to have calmed down. It's even later now and old, old b&w reruns of the Twilight Zone are playing on TV. Time to have a short nap before it's time to get up again. Catch you all later. ZZZZZZZZZZ |
beach bum Planning meals is much easier said than done. My DH is working part-time at home and what that means is unless our schedules get off from each other we are on the same schedule and eating at the same time so unless I want to spend the whole day cooking I pretty much have to eat when he feels like it. That also means when we eat out, and what we eat is negotiable but mutable. If either of us was working outside the house now it'd be easier but right now I don't have 100% control over when I eat. That is why planning is kind of out. Also when I try and plan everything invariably I do NOT want what I have scheduled. I usually do ok as long as I keep track real-time and that's the only way I can do it. It's just when I get lazy I get in trouble.
Vegaspunkermom Yeah TOM does make me really hungry, but I have been making something that would make all the natural girls here cringe which actually helps... jello made with Kool Aide, Splenda and boxed unflavoured Gelatin. It ends up being 5 calories for a quarter of a huge casserole dish and it keeps me from flipping out and bingeing. I'll probably mutate into something from all the chemicals but, hey, maybe I'll get super powers! I have also noticed that since I have been dieting and exercising my cramps are better. I used to have them so bad 'd have to have a really stiff drink every few hours or I'd be unable to get off the couch for 2-3 days a month. Been MUCH better and so far this round I have gotten away with only one bloody mary today when it got bad. retiredone Oh yikes... sorry to hear about your mom. That's scary for her and annoying for you. Rode the bike last night and will before bed tonight too (It's 3:37 AM here and not bedtime yet). I will return to doing weighhts next week after I am sure my shoulder is better. Not getting any cleaning done, but company was mostly canceled anyway, (YAY!!!). One friend is still coming over and he has seen the place much worse so i don't care. Besides I am cooking so he can deal. He started calorie counting because I was posting about it elsewhere and he was inspired. He said it was a real eyeopener to see what he had been eating, and has completely changed his lifestyle... all because of me. Heh. So I am cooking healthy low fat Chicken Parmigiana with whole wheat spaghetti and my veggie packed sauce. It's a slightly big meal for me at just under 500 calories but perfect for the boys... and I usually only eat half my chicken anyway... something the cats rather appreciate. Anyway. I will be glad when TOM is over because I keep being afraid I am gaining. EEK!!! |
I have a busy Sunday so figured Id come through early!
Retire - :woohoo: CONGRATS on that 1.5lbs!! Thats so wonderful! I hope you'll never see 140 or above on that scale again! Im sorry your mom had a bad night. :( Can I ask her age? My grandfather lives out here in Vegas, ever since my grandma passed away in 2002, my mom is always checking up on him, taking care of him, making sure his home is clean, his clothes arent ripped, etc. It really upsets me, because my uncle is in Florida, is very well off, and hardly helps with his father at all. I hate seeing everything all on my mom. I plan to take ALOT of pictures of James' birthday party. I am obsessed with taking pictures really. Our girls look alot like me, but James also looks JUST like daddy. Prinny - I think your jello creation sounds perfect. Its better than eating cakes & cookies too! Thats so awesome you've inspired your friend to eat better! I KNOW it feels great! Instead of needing the motivation, you ARE the motivation now! Ive also noticed my cramps have been better during TOM since starting this. Also, TOM lasts a shorter time period & isnt as heavy. I am PMS'ing and mine should be here next week. I was hungrier yesterday, but kept the food I ate GOOD food, so Im happy. I AM PROUD OF ME!! Last night there was the boxing match out here, and we bought it on Pay-Per-View. A bunch of Eric's friends, including my best friends husband and my dad, came over to have chips, pizza, and beer. I resisted it ALL!!! While I watched 6 grown men eat 4-7 pieces of pizza each, I sat right next to them eatin a bowl of my precious Fiber One. 2 of the guys (my dad and another guy) both said to me, HOW in the world do you have this willpower! I feel so proud! :D Off to Walmart for a small grocery shopping for us, and to pick up James' big cake, before this afternoon's BBQ I plan to eat right & stay OP today!!:) |
Good Morning Ladies:)
Still not going to church, gee!! is been a month since I been there. Some people will think I moved away. Going to call the doctor and find out if he heard any of the results from the MRI yet. This ankle is not getting any better, and the anti inflammatory drugs are not helping with the pain either. VEGAS-I'm going to use the laundry bag system until my ankle gets better. It was fun tossing the bags from the upstairs loft to the living room and than tossing them into the basement. The next time I''ll have DH bring them up.No I haven't heard anything about the MRI I going to call the doctor tomorrow. I'm not the good cook either. I follow cookbooks recipes, especially the ones that cook meals in 30 mins. :carrot:BIG CONGRATS on our 1 lb loss:carrot: that's wonderful, your 2 lbs ahead of me.Have a good time at your baby's first BBQ birthday.:hb: RETIRE-:carrot:Congrats on your 1.5 weight loss.:carrot: Hope I can say that at my Mon W-I. Hope you mom has a better night so you can get some sleep also. PRINNY-Thanks for explaining your schedule with me I now see and understand. Its hard when you have different schedules. I remember when my DH worked the night shift and I during the day.Do the best you can and that's all that's expected of you. |
Good morning ladies
I just wanted to say that I enjoy this thread. I haven't been commenting much but I read everyday. I didn't loose and weight in April. Today I weighed and I have gained 2.6 pounds. I am not happy about it but I'm not going to let it get me down. I have decided that I will just attack it with less calories in and more calories out. Thanks for being here. |
This is May!!! I'm going to start a May thread. See you in May (albeit a little late).

Thank you for the warm welcome. I have decided to count calories because I want to choose what I eat rather than have to stick with a regime. I have a neat little book that I have had for many years, it actually shows calories, carbs etc. of foods bought at the store and anything that isn't, it must be old because of course almost everything you buy now tells you the calorie count, which is very helpful. I eat home made food rather than packaged so I think it will be quite easy to keep tabs on everything. I noticed here the other day that someone said that 1700calories a day was acceptable because you mustn't starve youself as it will have the adverse effect, I am trying to keep to 1200 but not add in the equation what goes into my cups of tea during the day, 3 or 4 cups at most.
I have a sweet tooth, love candies and potatoes, I haven't eaten either since starting this on Friday. When I get the urger I chew some sugarless gum, seems to be helping. I can't comment on other posts because I have to spend some time reading them but just wanted to say hi! |
I am answering my own post as I am still getting a bit lost on the board, so many different headings, anyway I decided to purchase a digital bathroom scale, as my original one has the arrow that wavers around as you try and see what the heck it says. My initial weight was 192 but it may have been more, on the digital it is now reading 190, I know I have lost a bit of weight since I started a week ago today because my waist measures smaller. Feeling really pleased and know that counting the calories and sticking to a few meals that I like and a few snacks when added together my total is around 1,200 to 1,300 I know I can keep this going. Just wanted to share and would like to add the cute little measure that you all have showing your losses, how do I do that, I would like to add a photo, not of me probably my two Golden Retrievers..haha!!!
