Prinny, I have had the needing to try and eat my minimum a few days this week too -- a weird feeling!

Excited for my Mon weigh-in again, because this week I've been fluctuating between 189-191 lbs. I see 190 most often and it's the number I'd like to write down in my notebook on Monday morning -- we'll see. Of course, beyond that I can't wait to get officially into the 180s and see 65 lbs lost when I am at a high of 188.

WhitePicketFences 04-18-2009 01:34 PM

Also, I agree re: eating real food and not just 'diet' food. It's very satisfying, if/when we can handle it. to just have a little bit of baked macaroni and cheese or something like that. I made that very casserole this week and had a little bit for dinner one night with steamed broccoli taking up the rest of the plate.

Which is why I'm a calorie counter :-)

prinny 04-19-2009 08:14 AM

Went dancing but had to grab a fast food burger on the way to the club as nothing else was open, danced for more than 2 hours straight then hit Denny's of all places. I was pretty good about my choices though I think so I should be ok even with the questionable eating locations and booze. tomorrow I will do a proper workout and BE GOOD with food though. I imagine I will have tummy issues from the crap I ate today... but that's life, eh?

Good Morning Ladies:)

Not going to church this morning as I can't drive with the hurt leg. Don't understand why my doctor didn't give me some kind of support that would keep my ankle area from being so wobbly.

Got on the scale this morning and I gained 4 lbs.Now I will have to adjust my calories intake lower than my normal 1300-1500 c. Thinks to go down just a little lower 1200-1400 c.

VEGAS-Thanks,it is minor but it feels like major today. Wish the doctor gave me some kind of support for my wobbly ankle.

Know what your going though, my DD when she was here told me not to cook I take you out to a restaurant, and we wound up in fast food dives and I Gained. All I can say is be very careful of the food & portion sizes.

BIG CONGRATS on your 1 lb loss. you lower tha me as I pushed up to 171 when my GK where here.

PRINNY-I wish I could do some dancing like your doing.I haven't exercised since my bad ankle 3 weeks ago,and I need to get back to doing some sort of activity to get my butt moving again. I trying to do the exercising tips that they give to you on the biggest loser.Hand weights and upper body is all I can do for now. the running up & down the stairs & floor exercisers are not.

Sorry that your tummy is rebelling on the salads you eat. I go from cooked veggies to raw salads from time to time.

MISS LOUD-Hi,happy to your stayed on program and doing so nicely with losing 25 lbs. We understand can't get on the board when you fixing up your house. How is it coming along?????

DGRAMIE-Thanks for checking in,I loved to plant new flowers or flowing shrubs but I have no GREEN THUMB and there no need to ttry now. Glad that your OPing also.

SATRIA-Welcome to the thread. Don't use a ipod either but this is a great thread to post to when you need support or just want to chat.Cheese is my downfall also, tray buying the low calorie brands, that s what I'm doing.

WHITE PICKET FENCE-Glad your mom is seeing the 180's very soon I wish I had the magic # to know exactly how many calories i should be eating to lose weight again. Its back to the drawing board.

Have a great morning, will check in later

prinny 04-20-2009 07:27 AM

Was up a bit today, though I think it might actually be partly due to the amount of sodium I had yesterday and lack of water. I guess we will see when I get up tomorrow if I am the same or down.

I already worked out today, have been good about eating. I think I might ride the bike some more before I go to bed. Being up makes me nervous. I really need to lose at least 2 pounds per week and I am having trouble doing that. It's very frustrating! Please don't tell me 'its a journey' because I have some hard deadlines to be down.

beach bum 04-20-2009 08:50 AM

Good Morning Ladies:)

W-I this morning and I down again from my 170 ticker reading.I down.5 but that a start, after having a eating out meals when my DD & our GK down last week.

Here's to a better OP week to get the scale going down again.

PRINNY-Hi:wave: Do I know the sodium routine I've been there before. Just drink extra amount of water and and try not to use the salt shaker to much. I find if I exercise right before I go to bed find myself wide awake and than I can't sleep. Hope your workouts are earlier in the evening than bed time.

Have a great morning

I think monday weigh days suck... I seem to be higher than any other day of the week.I lost the 2lbs i gained last monday and .4 more.I have seen a few pounds less on other days...not sure if i need to change my weigh day back to sat?? Didnt do anything wrong..ate perfect, exercised alot 90 min of walking yesterday. oH well I will keep going and it will come off sooner or later!!

Amy8888 04-20-2009 10:40 AM

Hello! I'm new here too, but not exactly new to calorie counting. I lost more than 50 pounds 8 years ago and kept them off this way, basically. (I started by following the 90/10 Plan and after I got the hang of it, I basically followed it as a calorie counting plan).

So I've gotten married, had a couple of babies, and have been working an 8-5 job, and I've gained the weight back plus some. I've also been on just about every diet ever since having my second baby, although few of those really lasted more than a week. I have done Weight Watchers and I even tried Atkins. Atkins lasted for a full day...until I nearly passed out on the first night (I mean, literally nearly passed out). Yes, carbs are good, indeed. :)

So I have kind of been following the Flat Belly Diet since February, but now I've found that once again I've turned it into a calorie counting plan. So here I am! Something really clicked with me last week, and I signed up for Fitday.com. I had an account there a few years ago but I guess I wasn't ready to actually diet. Now that I'm ready to diet, and I've had experience trying out other things and have decided that calorie counting is the best thing for me, I have had success. I lost 3 pounds last week! Something about that fitday really motivates me to make sure I get in my activity and keep my calories down! I love to see that I really have a calorie deficit at the end of the day, and I love that I can predict how quickly I'll lose the weight based on my calorie deficit each day.

I'm also involved in a challenge with my husband until the beginning of September. Whoever loses the largest percentage of weight by then wins! If I win I'll get a Kindle 2. If he wins, I have to play games at his game store once a week for an entire year.

Well, I hope I can join in the fun here!

prinny 04-20-2009 07:30 PM

I am up AGAIN. WTF?!?!? I was good yesterday, worked out, I am not sore at all, i drank lots of water and I am up over a POUND. It is also REALLY HOT today, I am not happy. In fact I am really cranky, angry and frustrated.

It's too hot to do anything in the house and far too hot to go out and run errands. I really just want to go back to bed. Of course it's too hot to sleep.

Today sucks. I want a refund. :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Hi people. I haven't posted since before Easter. The kids were here with the baby and I got a bit depressed after they left to go home. It's hard living 400 km from the new baby. Anyway, I ate myself into oblivion and now I'm back to reality.

Sounds like you are all doing quite well with a few minor setbacks but that's how weight loss goes.

dgramie 04-21-2009 11:07 AM

retire- great to see you!! I have missed you!! How was the baby?? I dont get to see mine very often either.I sure love the min i have with her.
How are wedding plans coming?? We have graduation next month and then a anv party in june..lots of reasons for me to get the weight off!!
hugs

retiredone 04-21-2009 11:49 AM

Hi Dgramie. The baby is so sweet. He just had his 6 week check up and has gained quite a bit since his birth weight. He was 7 lb 7 oz at birth and yesterday he weighed 11 pounds right on the button. DIL was worried he wasn't eating enough, ha, ha. First baby for sure. The doctor was quite pleased with his progress. He is just starting to smile for real and stays awake for most of the day with little naps in between and sleeps most of the night with a couple of short feedings to break up the monotony of his parents nights. We have a webcam so we do get to see him but it's not the same as holding the darling.

The wedding plans are coming right along except I'm all out of ribbon and couldn't get what I wanted last time I was in town. Time to try another town. DS's MIL-to-be is finally starting to look for her mother-of-the-bride outfit so I'll soon have some idea what she will be wearing. She's wearing pants for sure so I know I'll probably go with some kind of pants or less formal dress. I found a gorgeous dress a couple of weeks ago but there was only one in the store and I need one size larger. It was a cotton dress with a cinched waist and little cap sleeves and a plunging v-neck (but not too plunging). The material had enough structure to it that it didn't cling and show up the lumps, bumps and rolls that need to be camouflaged  and it was fully lined too. It was an olive green or drab green with little darker green flowers embroidered all over. It was definitely perfect whether the MOTB wore pants or a dress as it was dressy enough but not overbearing to outshine the MOTB. Alas, it was full price and too much to buy hoping I'd fit into it by July. The store will have more dresses and other outfits in this week I believe so now I have to find a time to shop by myself so I can have another good look.

You sound like you've got quite a busy social life coming up this summer. I see you've changed your avatar from the gorgeous grandma back to the chicken. Ha, ha. But that 90 pounds lost sign is very impressive. I put on a little weight but not sure how much. I couldn't bear to look at the scales gone up so I'm waiting until this Saturday after a good week (I hope). So far I'm on track. Even remembered to take my vitamins!

Well, take care and I'll catch you again soon.

beach bum 04-21-2009 12:03 PM

Good Morning Ladies:)

Just got back from the doctors for my cholesterol & thyroid blood test. Results will be back in a few days.

I still can't exercise because of last weeks leg episode .So I really have to rely on portion control in my meals.

DGRAMIE-I like my Monday W-I its keeps me accountable on the weekends. You lost 2 lbs congrats for that why are you so upset???? Maybe it sodium did you eat anything salty, that's the first thing that come to my mind when a gain happens to me.

AMY-Welcome to the thread and congrats on the 50 lost and never gaining it back.that excellent. I never heard off the 90/10 plan before.I guess I will have to investigate it further.Yeah!! That's way happens after having children,my DD finds it harder to keep the weight off, comparing to before.Hows the Belly Fat Diet working for you??? That the prevention diet, correct???I was thinking about doing it ,but than decided not to as I didn't like the foods that you had on that program.

PRINNY-Sorry about being up again. When you W-I every day you should forget the daily reading and just average it out at the end of the week. Maybe take some lemon or lemon juice in your water as the lemon is a dietetic and You might lose the faster.

RETIRE-Congrats on the new baby and I've been there,it so sad to see your grand kids go,mine were here last Tues - Fri and I still miss them.I trying to go back on program myself as I jsut had a .5 loss this week, need the number going down again.

Have to go and start my dinner, will come back this afternoon

Amy8888 04-21-2009 01:27 PM

Maryann, I like the Flat Belly Diet (yes, it's also the Prevention diet). I needed something that was structured enough to get me back on a diet but that worked with my preferences. I like the idea of eating smaller amounts more frequently, and the book pushes for that. And I love avacados, dark chocolate, almonds, hummus, etc. If you do not like these kinds of foods, then honestly, I'm not sure it's the diet for you because you are supposed to eat something like this with each meal. I have modified it though, as I said, to be more of a calorie counting plan. I'm aiming for 1600 calories a day (like the diet does) but rather than eating 4, 400 calorie meals each day, I do something more like this:

Breakfast-400 calories (2 eggs, English muffin, EVOO, coffee w/milk and splenda)
Snack-150 (Almonds)
Lunch-250 (Lean Cuisine, diet coke)
Snack-140-180 (Meal bar)
Dinner-400 (varies)
Snack-200 (dark chocolate, or wine, or light beer with popcorn)

So adding the almonds, dark chocolate, and EVOO are the parts that I consider to be inspired by the diet, and I do look to the book for recipes whenever I can (especially dinner) because they are pretty good!

So for all of you, have you ever tried to get away from calorie counting? As I mentioned, I've tried everything in the past couple of years and fell into really dangerous territory when I tried the Intuitive Eating type of plans. There are threads here about it. It makes a lot of sense and I'm not knocking those kinds of plans (where you basically eat what you want when you want it, and stop when you're satisfied). For me, this was disastrous. I seriously gained so much weight in the year when I first tried this.

Which leads me to the conclusion I've come to...that I will ALWAYS need to count my calories if I want to lose/maintain weight. Maybe that will become more automatic for me in the future as I become accustomed to real portion sizes again, but my experiences have taught me that this is the only way for me to be able to be successful. And I will need to be accountable, which means jotting down what I'm eating (like the research suggests anyway). And I'm learning that it's okay to diet. There has been such a backlash against the word "diet" (in the weight loss sense, not the general way of life sense) but for me, I'm officially taking it off the dirty word list. Because for me there is no other way. That is the only thing that worked for me in the past and it is annoying to have track every thing I put in my mouth, but I was so much happier with my life overall when I did that because of the effect it had on me.

So, that was my HUGE lightbulb moment last week. Anyone else come to the same conclusion?

Misora 04-21-2009 02:48 PM

2 words: Chemistry lab. Okay that was a joke but I had to make it! Seriously though you might find out if your college has a nutrition or health department and if one of their teachers would be willing to give you advise on the cafeteria food. I hate bothering people when their job isn't to help me but a lot of teachers I know feel so passionately about their subject they would like to help people.

beach bum 04-22-2009 08:54 AM

Good Morning Ladies:)

Woke up to a dense fog, hope it clears by the time we leave for Leos Cataract surgery. Got on the scale this morning and I'm down 1.5 but it only a total since I average out my weight loss at the end of the week.

AMY-Prevention always send me some e-mails about the belly fat diet, but as I told you before I don't like the foods that you must eat along with a healthy diet. The only thing I like is the dk chocolate, and what that sassy water all about. I tried to use lemon & ground ginger in the water and it taste horrible.

So your breakfast & dinner are the highest calories meals, I have switched my lunch & dinner time around since last Sept. at noon I have my dinner and 5, I have supper. I'm using 1300=1500 zigzag calorie range.

MISORA-That a great idea for college students to discuss with their health dept person.

Have a great day will be back some time late afternoon

prinny 04-22-2009 10:47 AM

beach bum- Thanks for reminding me of that trick. I wonder if it would hurt to also put in some lime juice since having both in water or club soda is just so refreshing and would be great in this horrid heat.

Well I got up Tuesday, weighed in and I was a full FOUR POUNDS over where I was a few days ago so I basically decided Tuesday was fired, and I went back to bed. Slept for about 22 hours I only got up to pee a few times and drink water and I watched a Jonathan Creek episode with my husband otherwise slept the rest of the time.

Got up today, weighed myself and I was back to where I should be. I am going to watch my salt today, do the workout I should have done yesterday and hopefully I won't have anymore problems this week because I just CAN'T HANDLE IT. Heat wave + weight issues just cranks up the depression beyond what I can cope with.

Yes, I have issues.

My deadlines just make it worse. Why didn't I start this last year when I had more time? I keep making jokes about the wet/dry shop vac, and they keep seeming less funny.

Hello

Hello everyone...I'm new-kinda been lurking for a few weeks. I've really enjoyed reading all of your posts and suggestions. The past three years have been kind of rocky in my life-thus, a 50lb weight gain. I've dedicated my life to raising my four children (and staying married to their dad :dizzy:)-I've pretty much neglected myself for a very long time. A good friend of mine just found out she has breast cancer and starts chemo tomorrow-she and I spent a couple of hours together recently and I had a major lightbulb moment....I cannot keep neglecting myself!! So...here I begin a journey to finding myself again....I look forward to getting to know all of you! Just from reading your posts, I am very inspired :D

Hello Calorie Counters. Another good day for me. And I just finished riding my bike 17.75 km.

Today I was working on making a wedding veil for DS's fiance. They are ridiculously high priced and have only a few dollars worth of tulle in them. So I found out how to make them and got the go-ahead from the Bride-to-Be. I'll probably finish it tomorrow. I'm going to sew a trim of ribbon around the edge and attach a comb to the top and glue a few rhinestones randomly to the tulle.

Welcome Mom of Four. Glad you've joined us. This is the chat for the calorie counters. As you can tell from reading we talk about lots of stuff here. You'll find lots more help in this section and have a look in the other forums as well. There are age related forums that you may enjoy as well.

I was about the same weight as you when I joined 3FC last year and we're the same height and the same goal! But I'm definitely not in the child bearing age range.

Prinny, I see you've found the "Sleep It Off" diet. Maybe I'll try that someday. There are days I could do that as well.

WTG, Beach on the 1.5. Hope you keep that off for your official weigh in.

Have a good evening everyone.

Good Morning Ladies:)

After Leo surgery yesterday a follow up of going to this eye doctor this morning for more instructions. My Ankle didn't hurt just by putting a old back brace on. Hope to continue doing this until the ankle heals.

Than Last night my DD calls to tell me that my son is in a hospital in Ohio somewhere, his blood sugar was extremely high the last couple of days, due to his Type 1 diabetes. He doing fine and out of danger they're planning to release him today.

:stress: STRESS :stress: is certainly hanging around at my house, but I did remember having my adorable grandchildren at our side the week before..So I guess a little rain must fall now and than on all our lives.

Prinny-Glad that I could help. I used to put crystal lite in my water, but I rely on the lemon or lime slices

Have to get ready to drive Leo to the Eye Doctor, will stop in later.

retiredone 04-23-2009 10:32 AM

Hi Everyone.

Beach, glad the surgery went well with Leo and your son is on the mend. Now if you could only get that ankle mended.

We had a minor catastrophe at our house today. Mom's lift chair died. The motor went and we had to bodily lift her out of the laid back chair. She's now in the living room in the Lazy Boy chair. DH and his brother are going to take a look at the motor this evening when they get off work. Of course the warranty is off the chair. A new motor is about $200 but well worth it as the chair was almost $1200 and we use it not only as a chair but mom sleeps in it as well as she won't lie down flat. I hope DH can fix the problem. It may only be a lose wire. Keep your fingers crossed.

Vegaspunkermom 04-23-2009 05:30 PM

Im Back ladies! We had an amazing vacation, and Ill do personals first, and give you an update after below!

Prinny - I havent tried any of the other Special K cereals yet, but sure do plan to try some. Warning, the chocolate one WILL get you in trouble! I second the real food over diet food. My husband is a great cook, and he's learned SO many of my favorites in a healthier way, that I hardly ever have real cravings now. Water could be the reason for the 1lb. gain. Make sure you pee it all out again before you W-I!

Beach - Sounds like you had a GREAT time with your DD & GC! Im glad you enjoyed their visit! Thats awful about your ankle. Id go back to the Dr. ASAP! Im sorry you gained, but Im sure it'll come right off! Im anxious to hear about your b/w results. Im glad your husband's surgery went well, and please keep us updated on your son!

Dgramie - Congrats on your 2lb loss, thats wonderful!

Amy - Welcome! Im also a wife & mommy :) How awesome you have the buddy system with your husband going on! Whats a Kindle? For me, Ive never tried anything other than calorie counting. Before kids I was a size 9. Prior to starting my lifestyle change, after 3 kids and my tubes tied, I was a size 16. My best friend tried to get me to do South Beach, but I knew I couldnt last without any carbs, even for a few days. I thought CC was the best route for me to take, and it was, because Im a size 11/9 in Juniors now, feel better than ever, and unless Im going out to eat somewhere, I now know enough to not even actually count my calories online anymore. Im still losing, so it must be working!

Retire - Glad you got to see your grandson. We live 3-4 hours away from my IL's and they always say how hard it is for them to be away from the kids. :(

Mom of 4 - Welcome! I could say Im in the exact same boat. After finishing having babies, it was time to raise them, and to do that the best way possible, I had to lose weight. I had to feel good about me, so I could be there for THEM even more. Here I am :) Just tell yourself you put your dues in, and in the long run, this will benefit them too!!

As for me, we had a wonderful family vacation. We spent 2 days with the Inlaws and I think I did pretty well. The first night we walked for an hour after dinner and I ate well. The second day we walked downtown for about 2 hours, but after dinner I had 2 small slivers of pie (lemon & coconut cream) that my husband's grandma made. The third day we went to Disneyland and walked ALL over from 10am-7pm. I had some dessert from the character lunch we went to, then regretted it, complained, and my husband told me if I mentioned it again he'd stay home tomorrow HA! The fourth day we went to Disneyland again and walked from 9am-6pm. I did great with 1 piece of french toast at the character breakfast. On the way home yesterday, I had half a quesadilla from my husband's favorite mexican place in San Bernadino. It was so good, I didnt regret that. My husband SWEARS we walked at least 7-10 miles each day in Disney, not to mention the walking the first 2 days.

However, after W-I this morning.. I only lost 1lb. I am VERY depressed about this. (I know, shut up Vegas, you didnt gain!) BUIT I was expecting a 3-4lb. loss from all the walking, and am disappointed.

Back to the grind of real exercise and my old eating schedule. I HAVE to get rid of these pounds. I wont stop until I do!!

dgramie 04-23-2009 09:00 PM

Thanks for the congrats on the 2lb loss...but its the same 2lbs i gained the week before!!! IM hoping and praying this week the scales will be nicer. I so want to get to my 100lb mark soon.
Its hard when you know you are doing everything right and the weight is so slow coming off.I can tell a difference in my clothing and the way my body feels but i have been really exercising hard.
retire- My granddaughter is starting to really try and talk, jabbering and making all kinds of sounds. She is also able to sit up all by herself.I cant believe time flies so fast!! She is 16lbs now. Your little guy may catch up with her. Glad he is growing and doing great!!
hugs to all

prinny 04-24-2009 12:18 AM

My body needs serious professional help, where can you find a psychiatrist for your butt?

I weighed in today and I was 158.6. Wa-huh? That's like a 5 pound difference since Tuesday. MUST have been water, there is no other explanation! I have learned my lesson, NO fast food AT ALL no matter how desperate you are! It totally jacked my system for DAYS and I didn't even have that many calories. URGH.

I ordered some replacement going out clothes because some of my favorites, which can't be taken in, are simply too large now. A few more pounds and they won't be wearable AT ALL. I also need to take in some of my everyday clothes. My favorite pants almost fell off me as I walked into a restaurant today. Er... yeah. People can guess easily enough the colour of my unmentionables, they do not need confirmation.

Satria 04-24-2009 08:27 AM

I'm back from vacation and it did not go well. I had high hopes but completely ignored all my goals.

Actually we got back Wednesday and I took Thursday to reset myself and get back on track. I drank a ton of water and I'm trying to flush all of that hotel food out!
Plus I'm realizing I need to eat more protien so I think I'm going to start eating veggie omelets for breakfast every day. Do you all eat the whole egg or just the whites? I'd hate to waste half the egg

beach bum 04-24-2009 08:38 AM

Good Morning Ladies:)

Going to be a quite day as we're both relaxing and taking it easy.

RETIRE-Thanks for the congrats on my weight loss but I won't know for sure until I average it it out on Monday.

You must be a good sewer, to make a bridal veil,I would never attempt it,as I don't like sewing at all.

Thanks,It was scary both things happening at once. Now everything is fine and and quite again. If I don't get any relief by Monday I going back to the doctor.

VEGAS-My son was on his way home from the hospital yesterday morning. Now today hes going to visit with is doctor and see what happened and what she can do. He said he was fine for the airplane home. I'll probably hear about the blood works some time today. If the pain continues I will make another appointment this Monday.

DGRAMIE-Congrats on being so close to your 100 mark. Going to route for you, that you make it next week.

PRIMMY-Thats my dream to get out of the 160's big congrats getting there before me.:D:D

Have a great morning, going to rest my foot.

WhitePicketFences 04-24-2009 10:29 AM

Hi Amy and Mom of 4! I am kind of new to the chat myself.

Satria, sometimes I eat a whole boiled egg but other times I just eat half of it and call it half the calories. I am unwilling to give up yolk, so. :-)

I am not too excited about my monday morning weigh-in because it's Friday already and I've been showing the same number(s) all week as I had on this past Monday's official weigh-in. Usually I would be showing the loss already and anticipating what a better number I get to write down. But I guess it's going to be one of those weeks.

Also I have been putting off buying new clothes for awhile now. My favorite brown pants, the pants I was so excited to finally fit into with a pair of spanx over the holidays, are now my only acceptable pair of pants for wearing out -- and even they are so saggy that I think they won't make the 'going out' cut many more days.

Yesterday I went shopping in my closet again, but only salvaged 2 skirts that I should've gotten back into a month ago because now they are loose and won't buy me enough time. I think I've reached the end of shopping in our closets, because everything else I can find is either way too huge or is tiny and won't be worn for a looong time.

retiredone 04-24-2009 10:45 AM

Satria, I usually eat the whole egg. If I don't it's usually Egg Beaters or some other egg white product. I, too, love the yolk. After all a whole extra large egg is only 80 calories and you can make a meal on an egg with a few additions and a piece of bread or toast.

Prinny, I had to laugh at the image of you losing your pants. But what a great thing to almost happen.

Dgramie, DIL sent us the cutest picture of Baby smiling. She said she took about 40 pictures before she got the one she sent. What did we ever do without digital cameras when our kids were small. We had to settle for whatever we snapped.

Vegaspunkermom, glad you had such a great vacation. And, yes, a 1 pound loss over a vacation period is wonderful. You did great.

I was up at 6:30 this morning as mom slept through the whole night and woke up needing to pee badly. I stayed up and have done loads of stuff today. We had lunch rather early as DH had a bus run/job during lunch time I had my lunch with him. Now, I've got lots of time to clean up the house or not. :D

Good day so far.

Retire - How cool you are making the veil! I remember how expensive they were, and bought a homemade one from Ebay for $20! I later re-sold it for $15.

Prinny - Glad all the weight came off, whatever it was. I think Im bloated for some reason right now, so its a MEGA water day today!

Satria - Sorry you splurged oin vacation, but at least it was vacation right? I only eat egg whites now. I usually hate wasting half the egg too, but if you buy Egg Beaters, just whites, they're WAY good! I havent had yolk (except in hard boiled eggs) since I started eating better, and dont miss them at ALL!

Beach - Glad your son is doing better, and I hope you're feeling better today!

White - I think ill be having one of those weeks also. I just feel fat & bloated. Also, congrats on needing actual new clothes! Id recommend cheap stuff for now, unless you need something for work or a special event. I just bought clothes 3 weeks ago, spent about $150, and almost every bottom I bought is now too big and needed to stay up with a belt. So shop cheap but ENJOY it! CONGRATS!

So like I mentioned above, its a water chugging day for me, and I think Ill W-I in Monday. Im going to do the 30DS today, & strength and pilates tomorrow. Also, abs both days. Hopefully Monday's number will be nice.

prinny 04-24-2009 09:07 PM

As previously mentioned I have just been wearing the same pants. I don't care if they are baggy for everyday and when I go out I wear full skirts. Today I decided to actually try on some pants to see what fit. I was in 18s or bigger but today I am wearing 14s. They aren't even tight they actually FIT.

For reference my pants size at goal should be 8, if 8 is the same size it was 6 years ago.

update: Also tried on my BDUs (black military pants I wear the same way most people wear jeans). I am down to a Medium from a Large. Doesn't seem like much, but it's a pretty big deal to me. I can put the big ones back in my husband's closet!

I also got an underbed box for all my too big clothes I won't be taking in. Already put in a few pair of size 18 pants and a few 20s as well I wore occasionally in the upper 170's and on bloat days. Not quite ready to give up the 16s because I am sure I'll wear those soon with TOM looming on the horizon. Keeping the larger shirts for now because the boobs haven't gotten that much smaller (36D instead of 38D), and for this both myself and my DH are greatful!

I noticed while organizing my closet today I have quite a few 20s, 18s, 16s, 14s, and one pair of 12s but ZERO 10s and one pair of 8s oddly enough. Where did all my smaller pants go I wonder? I guess I might have given them to the charity shop not wanting to have them to remind me how fat I had become but I do find this a little odd.

Ok I am just messing around online and procrastinating working out. I am not in the mood but I guess I better if I want to get into those 12s, eh?

Vegaspunkermom 04-25-2009 10:43 AM

Retire - Thanks for the congrats, and Im glad you had a good day yesterday. I always feel when the day is going well, Im in such a better mood, and more motivated to eat right & exercise!

Prinny - Congrats on your 14's, thats awesome! So is going from a large to a medium. I now love the word medium. So far Ive went from a 16 to a 12 in Juniors (I guess I dress younger than my age) and those size 8 capris I bought were in the Womens section, however, they're now too big. Hmm. I want to be a size 7/8 in Juniors. Thats the last goal. Also, on the booby front. I feel you on the bra size. I went from a 38D also to a 36D, however, the girls LOOK better. They're smaller, but more firm. Sorry if thats TMI lol. Anyway, Congrats again! :carrot:

So, I was upset about the 1lb. loss on vacation, until I stepped on the scale yesterday, and it was yet another pound lighter. Im now 166.4 and satisfied having lost 2lbs. on vacation. I mean jeez, I walked at LEAST 15 miles in 4 days. 11 more pounds....

WhitePicketFences 04-25-2009 02:31 PM

Oh, good, Vegaspunkermom. I love that we were just saying it's going to be one of those weeks and now the tide has turned. I'm suddenly showing a range of 187-188 lbs last night and this morning, an acceptable loss for any week, much less this week's looming TOM.

Hopefully it will be the same on Monday morning so I can make those numbers official. If not, oh well, I'll feel good knowing it's temporary bloat.

And I am dreading buying anything new, because I have been spending too much money lately. My hand and ankle weights order isnt even cold yet, the dryer just broke, we are going across the country to visit relatives next month -- ugh, money.

beach bum 04-25-2009 04:09 PM

Hi Ladies:)

Had lots of shopping to do this morning,Walmarts for vitamins and a new ankle guard and than to our local supermarket for next weeks menus.

WHITE PICKET FENCE-Sorry about your scale not moving downward but it wasn't again. Its a possibility that your scale will go down you have 2 days to go and a lot may happen by than. Drink extra water, and be care to portion your meals this weekend. I have to watch and be accountable over the weekend also as Monday is my official W-I also. You see saggy pants is a plus as your losing inches,so hang in there some will give.

RETIRE-I hate those day when you get up early the day feels so long, but than again your did accomplish a lot this morning and that's a big congrats,in my books. Do something for yourself, like a bubble bath or what ever that makes you feel good.

VEGAS-Thanks my son felt that good we went into work yesterday, and now's over the weekend he can have that well deserving rest. I on the other hand was feeling well this morning, but standing and walking in the two store did a tale on my ankle has to take a pain killer. Guess I still need the REST.

:carrot:THAT SUPER NEWS BIG CONGRATS VEGAS ON YOUR 2 LB LOSS WHILE BEING ON A VACATION. :carrot:

PRINNY-Congrats for dropping 4 dress sizes.I love when that happens to me,taking a tuck in at the waistline is always a plus. HEY your gals are losing in the boob area I just the opposite had to go up on the size. Asked my doctor about that and he said that some woman my age gain inches in that area especially when the belly shrinks. I don't care if my hips & boobs are the same size I have a hour glass figure,right.:lol3:

Have a great afternoon & evening will look on you gals tomorrow

prinny 04-26-2009 12:53 AM

WhitePicketFences - Money is not a happy subject in this house right now either. We are having car drama and right now my car is d-e-a-d and his has a doughnut on it instead of a back tire. Monday we have to get both to the dealership to be fixed. ARGH! Well I did end up walking about a mile to the grocery because I didn't want to wait for him to put on the spare. LOL.

Same weight today but I am entering the PMS zone in the next couple days so I am tempted to not weigh again till after TOM is over. I don't need that stress.

We had light 4 cheese ravoli with my meat sauce on it for dinner for about 400 calories for mine and 600 for his. I feel so deprived! Actually I feel stuffed... well not stuffed but FULL. I still have room in the calorie count for a snack or 2 if I am good and workout.

Driving to TN from the SF Bay Area in June then back after about a week, (I do this once or twice a year). Making preparations already for that. I looked up various 'food' places I know are on the way and uh, wow, I can't eat on the road! Taco Bell is the healthiest option for what little I can stand of fast food. :yikes: I think I am going to have to get some low fat/ low sodium canned soups and veggies that I can eat cold, also some fresh fruit of course. That is sure going to add a level of complexity to the trip. It's also going to feel very post apocalyptic/Burning Man like! That could be kind of fun! I mean I will be traveling in Bdus, black tshirts and sweatshirts, knee high combat boots and my sunglasses look like goggles.

beach bum 04-26-2009 08:28 AM

Good Morning Ladies:)

We have a beautiful SPRING day going up in the 70's today but just for today and back to normal tomorrow.
Maybe we'll open the BBQ grill this afternoon.

Not going to church again this week either, even if it gorgeous out.I'm experiencing some new this morning my tendon my the back of my leg is getting sore.I must make a doctors appointment this week to start the MRI process or get a cortisone shot, to end this misery.

WI today instead of tomorrow as Leo & I have to head out to the other end of Cape Cod to get to our new petscan place. some where in Harwich on Monday. We have a 1 1/2-1 3/4 hr drive to get out there.

LOST 2 LBS this morning. Oh you don't know how happy I am, as I not exercising and I was afraid I gain.

Going to have breakfast as I'm starving, see you later

retiredone 04-26-2009 08:48 PM

Wow, everyone is doing so well. I weighed in yesterday and although my weight is above what my ticker says I'm sure it's down from last week. I didn't even weigh last week because I knew I had gained as I could feel it in my clothing.

prinny 04-26-2009 10:54 PM

I seem to be having a hungry day. I'm working on downing a litre of water in sort order to see if it helps. I blame my workout yesterday since I added some new rear toning moves. I am a little sore from it, I think I need to add more weight next time, but every time I switch up my workout I seem to have a hungry day the next day.

Oh well, if the water doesn't fix it I'll go have a can of tuna since I am mostly craving protein. I am sure the cats won't complain about that... unless I don't share.

Satria 04-27-2009 10:13 AM

I had a good weekend! Yay!
Previously I wasn't counting cals on the weekends, but I decided I had better start. I allowed myself a little more than normal, but still kept track and all that.
Saturday I did go over - my MIL invited us over and I ate dinner before hand to not snack a bunch there - but then she made me a special dinner. I've learned not to deny The MIL so I had a small piece of what she made me and a small piece of fruit pizza. I was going to have another but it wasn't that good so I didn't.
Sunday we went out for lunch and I stayed in plan, and only ate 4 chips from the bottomless bowl at our table.
I exercised a bit on Saturday - I had gotten a new DVD from the library and I did that even though DS was around and I *hate* having an audience.
Sunday I cleaned the house, vacuumed, and mopped all in an hour - not usually exercise, but I was really rushing and sweating.

TOM is soon and I have been feeling not so much PMS as normal and that's always a good thing! :)

Vegaspunkermom 04-27-2009 11:03 AM

Thanks for the congrats on the loss everyone!! My number is still the same, but I havent exercised in a few days (I know, Im horribly lazy) so Im not surprised. Im back on it today, and plan to lose 2lbs this week!!

White - Im glad your number dropped, especially when TOM is near. I HATE W-I right near that time. It just makes me more emotional than normal for that TOM. I also hate money. I want a treadmill, and since the one my parents gave me broke, I havent gotten a new one. Someday.

Beach - CONGRATS on your 2lb loss!! Thats wonderful!! So happy your son is doing well. What a scary ordeal to go to, especially in a different city than he lives in. Please rest your ankle, you're not going to be good as new if you keep pushing it! Id make another Dr appt. My mother twisted her ankle back in 2006 at my middle daughter's baby shower. They told her it was only a sprain, but a month later, still in pain, she finally found out it was broken.

Retire - Sometimes feeling better in your clothes mean more than a number! I hope when you do W-I you see a nice loss!

Prinny - Can you stop & get healthy sandwich stuff for your road trip? Theres also always Subway. Im ALWAYS hungry after a workout too. I try to do a piece of fruit to get my blood sugar back up.

Satria - Seems like you did very well this weekend! Isnt it great when family recognizes and helps you stay OP? My parents have been catering to me for months when we visit (they live in Vegas too!) Also, we just went to visit the IL's in Cali & MIL had fat free/sugar free everything for me, low cal bread, & Egg Beaters egg whites. She was awesome!

Off to do some laundry, and then doing some cardio this afternoon!

dgramie 04-27-2009 11:38 AM

Had a 1lb loss this week. Not as much as i was hoping for but much better than nothing.
hugs to all
