  • I was up 3lbs as well this week. I think mine is from to much eating. I have made some bad choices and had to many bridal showers and dinners to attend lately. Today was a perfect on plan day. Tommorow will be also.I have to fit into my dress for my daughters wedding its only 3 weeks away(well less than 3 weeks now).
  • Shhhh.....the kiddo is sleeping. Don't wake him! Man, if he doesn't stay in bed tonight I might lose my mind. I installed new room darkening blinds in his room today that will hopefully help - his room faces the road and I think the lights coming in when cars drive by are one of the things bothering him. We shall see.

Jam - Yeh...he's pretty much given up naps for us. He still needs at least a little bit of one or his is a crazy child. I am hoping/praying this is a phase we get out of SOON!!! It will be interesting to see if the cereal was the culprit. That is one thing I pretty much stay away from. Occassionally I'll munch on some Cheerios, but for the most part cereal doesn't satisfy me and it's so easy to overdo. Yay for the new rink opening soon!!!

FB - You were quite the active little one this weekend. The bike ride and walk both sound wonderful! Today was very nice here...shame on me for not getting out and enjoying it. Instead I was running errands and hitting the gym. Then it was dark and cold again. Be gone with those 3 pounds! Shame on them for showing back up! Shoo!

DG - Great job getting back on plan today and realizing that you'd been overdoing it. It's an exciting time for you right now. Just don't lose sight of your goals!

I hope everyone is having a great night!

    C'ya!

    Barb
  • What weight kettleball should I get, if I happened to want one for at home? I've played at the store but can't get a good feel.

Barb! Hope that helps with the nighttime disturbances. I wish I had advice to offer, practical advice. When my son was three we excited him about his room by letting him pick out some decor, blankets, sheets, a lamp and a few posters - so he would want to be there. But until that point he had slept with me.

dgramie - entirely doable! What an exciting event - congratulations on the wedding!
  • FB, I've been thinking of getting a kettlebell...great minds think alike. If you can try whatever moves you want to do with a DB first, that should give you some idea what kettlebell to get. I figure, whatever I can do with a DB, I might be able to do 5 lbs more with a KB, because the grip would be a little better on the KB (versus trying to swing a DB two-handed, or overhead I imagine the KB would be easier with one-arm moves because the weight is all in one compact ball...easier to balance?). I'm personally thinking of getting a 25 pounder or close to that. I haven't KB shopped yet, so I'm not sure what weights are typically available.

Your workouts sound like fun! You rocked that half mile! My 6'4" 16 yr old nephew has a 7 min mile...you just whooped on him!

On the carbs, can't say I'm low carb, cuz of the sugar in my tea, though I keep my macros 40/40/20 for the day, so it's not high carb. I eat veggie and fruit carbs, but generally not breads, cereals, rice, not even whole grains. It's not a diet thing, but more because I get chronic headaches when I eat them. This was true of the cereal this week, as well, but not as bad as if I was eating grains more than once a day. Not sure what the science is behind that, or if there is any...could be all in my head (head...get it? lol), but I'd rather just drop the cereal and see what happens.

    Barb and DG,
  • Im gonna be MIA for a little while
    Hey Folks,

Just a quick check-in... did good today, and FINALLY started back with the exercise (its day 1 of the 10 day exercise challenge).

This week is a really hectic week for me, so I'm banning myself from 3FC until next week Tuesday afternoon (thats when things calm down again). Which means I wont be able to post on Vals Day. But hey, I need to be taking care of other aspects of my life, so shifting my focus a little bit. Regardless of my absence, I'll definitely stay OP for diet and exercise though.

So, good luck to all you guys for Feb 14th. I hope your weigh-ins go well

And for the rest of the week:
  • Shauna, we'll see you on the next challenge thread, when you get back! I think it will be an Easter challenge, unless I get some votes for shorter challenges. Just come find us and you can post your V-day challenge results there, if you like.

Well, I got a little whoosh this morning, down 2.4 from yesterday, so whatever caused the waterweight, it's hopefully on its way gone.

Yesterday I took back the girl sweats and workout pants. I really wanted some girl pants, but neither pair had any butt in them. They went on, but were so low cut that there would be no squats or deadlifts in those pants, lol. I'm not a plumber's crack kinda girl. Sigh. So, I just picked up a pair of men's sweats for deadlifts. I took the running shoes back, also, because they were a different model, and just not as comfy as the ones I got last time. I'll have to brave the running store. I really want a super comfy pair of shoes that will take me through training and running that 12K this summer.

Not much else to report here. Keeping POP, no more cereal, walked for my workout yesterday as a recovery workout. Crossfit is kicking my...everything, but I'm loving it.
  • my goal... I am doing slim fast right now for this week and next week, and my goal is to lose 6 lbs this week.

I was doing weight watchers, but I think I am going to change my diet to good old calorie counting... lets see if I lose!
  • I like my Nike Shox for weights Jammy, but they suck for running. The Shox help my posture somehow.

Kettleballs are somewhat expensive. I'm thinking 25 or 30 pounds. Do you need two like with dumbbells do you think?

You know who has awesome workout girl pants? Victoria's Secret online of all places. There's always a sale or something going on. They aren't flirty looking, just nice pants. I swear, no hearts on the butt or anything cheesy. I've gotten all of mine for under 10.00 a pair there. If you sign up for email specials they'll email good coupons. They seem to run big though, be forewarned. I've been buying XS lately, and they are plenty roomy. Strange to me, XS. I wear a size 6 or 8 in jeans FWIW.

I also like Adidas and Fila for girl style. Nike pants fit me weirdly.
  • I am wishing it was nice out so I could go walking, the temp isn't bad but it has been raining for the last two days.
I still haven't had any caffiene yet.
My boyfriend and I had our pictures taken yesterday and I thinik that my chin is going away.I haven't weighed myself lately.I thinik that I am going to hold out until the 14th.
    Everyone have a great day.
  • I think Easter would be good for the next challenge. I might make my Valentine's Day goal by Easter.
  • FB - I briefly checked out the VS website to find the pants. Are you shopping in the yoga pants section? I am thinking about ordering myself a pair of XL to work my way into so I can say I fit into something from VS! Since they seem to run a lil big they might work. I'm wearing mostly 2xl pants right now but some brands are a bit baggy...although the XLs that I have are a little too tight.

Shouldn't be here right now....back to work!
  • FB, I wouldn't need two, not of the same size, because I mostly want it for the swing and for one-arm (at a time) moves. Whoa, those are expensive! I'm thinking, bowling ball, and a rope, lol! JK, I am also thinking 25 pound minimum, but would probably see if I can lift the 30 overhead at the store. Might mean fewer reps to start, but should be enough to last a while, cuz a person could crank up the reps or mix it in with some other killer exercises for a pre-fatigue effect.

I will have to check out the VS store at the mall, to see what size, but those pants look hopeful, thanks! I couldn't figure why they put a VS in the mall, lol, but I didn't realize they had branched out into clothing and shoes. I'm so behind the fashion times!

Hey Barb, you were posting while I was typing this novel.

Chubs, I live in rain central. I walk or run in the house when it's gross out, just going room to room, back and forth. It's actually good once you get used to it. Cushy carpet, your own bathroom, your own music or an audio book, don't have to carry your water bottle...deluxe!

MizzA, welcome to 3FC, and the challenge!
  • Sorry been MIA. Been sick for the past three days and still not feeling right but back at work. Down to 201.5 now...woo hoo!!!! Almost at that goal which i think was 201!!!!
  • Go Nicki!

I just came back to say that I my new sweat pants. They're men's, but they fit nice, not too low, not too high, not too long. I'm gonna hafta get another pair of these. Nice shin protection for deadlifts, too. I did a little warmup at home today, to test them out for that. Then, I did a killer upper body lifting and abs workout, lighter weights, killer reps, no rest, circuit style. Fun! And painful. Then 20 mins of running after. Was gonna be 30, but had a little head butting session with the 12 yr old over Algebra, then I was too -headed to finish.

Okay, I go now. You talk.
  • Barb! Yep, the yoga and lounge wear area is where I'm finding these pants. They have some in the winter clearance right now too. I like the pants with drawstring waists - to help with the bagginess part.

Jam! The mall stores have the frou-frou stuff, underwear and bras. You know girly crap for those girls who do pedicures. You'd probably have better luck online. The great thing is the coupons - you can stack them and mix them, always a plethora of codes online.

KB's are costly, in my modest little opinion. I keep gazing at them longingly and then restrain myself. I also think of all of the damage I could do in our house. Letting me loose with one will be deadly. For someone.

Retired, me too. Seriously. I had goal and then inexplicably shot back up.
Nicki and cphotographer - good going!
