Barb, glad you didn't kill the hubby, and I hope you got the boy settled without too much trouble.

I have tried that punching bag thing before. I'm not so good. I got to try a speed bag once, and hit it with my face more than I was able to hit it with my hands. It was a like a bad cartoon, honestly. That does seem like it would be fun, though, if a person could get the rhythm down.
I'm back on the exercise wagon, and my own personal challenge for Feb is to not miss a workout. I think I said that last month, but new month, I get to start over! I'm tweaking the plan to include more crossfit than last month. I'm addicted. Plus, I'm hoping it will kick the fat burn into high gear. Or, at least, 2nd gear. Today, I'm exactly 2 lbs from my V-day goal, so I need at least a pound this week and a pound next week.
Tomorrow I have to take the boy shopping for some clothes. Apparently, these things (kids) grow when you feed 'em. I shoulda got a hamster. After that, we've got a date with the Y. The boy wants to swim, which is why I'm going later to workout, instead of at the crack like I prefer. I've got lower body lifting on the menu for tomorrow, as well as a crossfit workout which I'm saving for after the lifting. Thankfully the crossfit workout is upper body only, pull-ups and dips, so I may survive. Of course, Tuesday, I may be digging through the box of pink barbie dumbbells for my bench press.

If you hear a strangled choking noise, come pull the barbell off my neck, k?
BrattySplatty, we don' need no stinking SUNshine, man! We got...we got...like high 30s here, so...yeah, take THAT!
Shauna, you rock! That's almost ten freakin' pounds!

Woohoo, congrats on the killer weigh-in! Ima skerred of spin class! Okay, I have a little bike phobia since I tried to take up cycling last year and made it like a quarter mile before I was exhausted! My
PR is 2 miles, lol.
Angel, that is so cool that you got the Y membership! What a great surprise! My boy loves the swimming.

So, two recommendations for you. If you want muscles you can see, asap, to fill out loose skin and just look gorgeous, I'd recommend googling "Body for Life". It's an upper/lower body split, but you'll see results about week 3, and it's a 3 day a week lifting schedule like you want. There's a book, likely available at your local library, or there's the website, which is almost as good, and it's free. Another book that is good, actually 2 books, "New Rules of Lifting" (the men's version, well worth reading, as it explains things in more detail) or "New Rules of Lifting for Women". Either of those is full body workouts, short but challenging, and you will get stronger fast on that, but it's mostly for strength and functional fitness, so you don't get the showy muscles like you do with the other one. Great for an intro to lifting, though, and definitely worth reading, at least. Oh, one more website, google "exrx exercises" and that will pull up the ExRX website...lots of good info there on which muscles are which, lots of video clips of different exercises, and general info for lifting, which weight machine is which, all kinds of good stuff. There are some great ladies on the weight and resistance training board here at 3FC, too...that board is listed under "exercise" on the 3FC forum index page, toward the bottom.
Oy, I'm going blind, and it's past my bedtime, so Chele, Nicki, and anybody I missed,

and I'll catch up with you ladies next time!
