dgramie I had my wisdom teeth pulled last year. Mine weren't to bad but make sure you keep the sockets clean. My person didn't tell me to but I did it anyway. Later I was told by another person that had theirs out that they were given special tools to help keep things clean. I wish you the best of luck. Great news about the blood pressure meds and sorry to hear about your IBS. Hopefully it all clears up without the extreme measures. I know it must have felt good to get a nice pat on the back also.
Well I better get going, its snack time. I have pickled egg whites and an apple. I know its sounds gross but I love pickled stuff, its just vinegar no salt or anything. It actually hits the spot for me. Talk to you all later. |
Thanks ladies for all the well wishes!! You all have made my day!Better than DH telling me that at least my thumb got caught in a nice sports car! Men! It still hurts like the devil, but I am taking pills when I can't take it anymore.
I am excited to hop back on the wagon, after TOM. I feel so bloated and awful. Yuck!!!! Grammy- No I have yet to try the crepe recipe. Is it on the provida site? I haven't had pickled eggs yet. I love pickled veggies though. I will be so happy to be back on plan. I don't necessarily like the you're gaining a bit comments. LOL :p That's so cool your ODD got a job at the nursing home. You know I have really shut that part off with death, but I still have a couple I get attached and when they pass it will be very hard for me. Dgramie- Well good luck to you with the BP pills, I know I am loving not having to be on them. Good job on getting your stomach issues in check. Take it easy! Canadian- Lil Red ants? Well if you did toast them, they would add a bit of protein. LOL I'm kidding. Retire- I know it will throb for a while, I know I am scared of closing my car door. |

Dgramie, congrats on getting your meds reduced! :carrot:
Hey everyone. I hope that you are all having a great week. I... Not so much. First the toe, then horrid pain in my left chest. A trip to the ER and an EKG, a chest x-ray, blood tests and a hi contrast CT all to tell me I have severely strained chest wall muscles and tendons. So, hard cardio is out. Lifting is out. (I am kinda stoked that I can't vacuum...:D) Rest and lots of Advil are on the menu for a while. I have been on and off track all week, too. Calories have been working out a bit high, for me. And yesterday... Yikes. I am back on track today and I am going to do my best to stay there. I have a busy day tomorrow. I have to go to the Valley with my husband. And we have to leave early. Yuk. I really just want to sleep in and rest. Oh well. We must do what we must do. :smug: Must run. Stuff to get done tonight. I'll catch you all when I can. Have a good one, everyone. :smug: |
heading out to the dentist ..wish me luck..yes i am a wimp!!!
|
Canadianwoman, aren't you glad you didn't swallow those little red ants alive. (((Shudder)))
dgramie, I had an abscess on the root of one of my teeth a few years ago. It took nearly a year to clear up and I had to have surgery on the gum and have the root scraped. Hope you don't have to go through that. I did eventually get a root canal and crown done. I actually had 3 root canals on the same tooth because the infection just wouldn't clear up. That probably didn't help your dentist phobia, did it? Tinky, since I hurt my thumb (I jammed it in the bathtub drain) I'm always so conscious of turning the bath taps on and off with soapy hands. An injury really makes you think about what you're doing. I think I had a good week calorie wise. Just one day of madness but I only went over by about 100 calories on that day. And I've exercised every day since Monday. I was too tired on Sunday but I had a long walk on Saturday which is usually my rest day. So I hope it shows on the scales tomorrow morning. I'm into "ancient" fat stores now. I've haven't been in the 140s for nearly 30 years so I'm figuring the fat that's left is really old stuff. (This is not scientific, mind you, just me thinking that way. :D) If only my belly would shrink. That's where the "oldest" fat is stored. |
Retiredone ~ I know that feeling about the belly. That is the first place to gain last place to lose.
Tinky ~ Yes, I got the recipe from Provida but I will tell you it, its simple. Crepe: take two egg whites, put a cap full of vanilla extract (sm bottle) which is probably a 1/8 to a 1/4 tsp. and two packets of splenda and whip them up and put them in a nonstick skillet and roll them around while they cook so they are thin. Apple filling: I peel, corr (easier to peel first) and slice my apples. Then I put a packet of splenda and some cinnamon on them then place in a covered bowl. Microwave for 1 1/2 minutes. My apples are always done perfectly this way. You can use most any fruit you desire and are allowed to have. I usually mix my crepe first in a bowl the pour it in an unheated pan. Then I rinse the bowl and put my apple slices in it so I can put the splenda and cinnamon on them and mix them up. Then cover and put in the microwave for 1 1/2 minutes. The I start cooking the crepe. That way the apples are done and the crepe at about the same time. This is good with other fruits also and I really like it because no more cravings or ICK of any sort because this taste a lot like ICK to me. I have to say it is one of my favorites and it is very quick. Some have also suggested leaving all the stuff to make it sweet and just use egg whites with spices and fill it with veggies. That works also. I haven't tried it but I bet it would be good. Rain ~ OH MY GOSH that hurts when that happens. I have never actually pulled the muscles in my chest but my DH has when he had a cold. Take it easy and rest so your body can heal. Well I better get going its almost time to go home. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and I will talk to you all on Monday. |
Hi gals! Sorry I've been MIA lately. I started my new job and I'm trying to get used to the schedule. I haven't worked full time in over a year. It's nice, but getting used to waking up early has been a chore. So far, so good, I like the job.
I'll check back and read posts later. Everyone have a great weekend! |
hi everyone
A question: I am calorie counting with 1400 calories as my max. I am also doing a lot of exercise. I started 2 mths ago and have lost 25 lbs. For the last two weeks, I have increased my exercise and I am not losing anything. I am thinking that my body went into shutoff mode because I am not eating enough. I averaged around 1250 calories the last two weeks and burned 400. Am I suppose to count the burned calories in with the 1400 max.? So...maybe I should be eating 1800 calories if I am burning 400? Let me know what your advice is. Thanks! |
Hi Hattie. Sorry I can't answer your question but I'm sure someone will know the answer. It's really quiet here on the weekends but check back Monday night or Tuesday morning and there might be an answer then.
|
I am starting to feel human again. My scales were up 2lbs on sat(weigh day) and today are back to my lowest. I tried not to worry but it still is hard to post a gain. I am starting to exercise today..100 pushup challenge..( its a 6 week program). I am also jumping on the mimitrampoline today. I am behind in housework..didnt feel like doing much of anything the past 2 days. Having a wisdom tooth and molar pulled was worse than i expected. I have to go back in a week and get the stitches out.
hugs to all |
Dgramie, you just take care of yourself and things will get back to normal. I so know what you're going through with the teeth.
I've been doing counter push-ups for ages and this week I've started doing them on the floor just like a "normal" person would. Well not like they are really supposed to be done because I can hardly bend my elbows but I can hold myself up which is more than I could do a few months ago. I did 2 the first time and 2 the second time and yesterday I did 4. I've got to work on lowering my body closer to the ground without collapsing. |
im doing the knee push ups..i thought i would have to start with the wall ones so i am impressed with myself..i may try one the reg way and see if i can do it..lol
|
dgramie ~ I sure hope your feeling 100% soon. I didn't have any stitches with my wisdom teeth but I imagine having side by side teeth pulled leaves a big gap. That little gain will come right back off when your feeling better.
retiredone ~ I don't do any exercises that requires me to get on the floor because of my dogs. They think its play time and its to much of a hassle but I have found alternative ways to working the parts of the body that I would normally do as a floor exercise. Well I lose 2 lbs this week so I am not complaining. I really get disappointed at times because I lose so slowly but even doing it slowly will get me to goal just it will take me longer. The advantage is I will have my habits fully formed by then. GS really liked his Car's bed we bought for our house. We were shocked that he slept in this weekend instead of with us but it was nice to get a good weekends sleep. Next step into growing up is potty training. He now wants to be by himself to do his business. We took him for a nice long walk in the woods this weekend and he stopped to do his business and said you go Mimi, go that way now. He wanted us to leave him alone in the woods :-O. Then he did the same thing when we were working on the horse pasture, he said "GO Mimi and Papa, go that way". So he knows what he is doing, its just convincing him to do it on the potty. Well I better get going and I will talk to you all later. |
Zenor glad your job is going well and you will get used to getting up again.
WOW! Did every evacuate or what? Is there some virus going around? LOL! Talk to you all tomorrow. |
Hey all! Well I finally ordered my treadmill. It arrives around Nov. 10th! Yahooooo! I am so excited. I can finally get back on track, and really workout...with no excuses. I am not 100% back on track yet, but will be.
GrammyL- Hmm, i will have to add the crepe recipe to my thing when I start. I don't do floor exercises as well, because my Pug will be all over me.I do put up the doggy gate though, when I do want to do them. LOL about DGS, that is pretty cute though, pretty soon he will be asking for reading material. Dgramie- Take it easy, I'm sorry you had to get stitches with getting your wisdom tooth pulled. You'll be back real soon, I keep telling myself that. Retire- Great job!!! Push-ups are no joke, but you're doing the right thing and taking it one step at a time! Well talk to you all tomorrow!!! Have a Good Night!!! |
Tinky that is great news about the treadmill. I have a gazelle I use in winter at home and my feet are feeling well enough I may start using it when it gets to cold to be outside. I have slowed down on the amount I was doing compared to before and I am losing better now than when I was go, go, going all the time. I am doing my sculpting and light activity still. Don't want to push my feet to much. I am losing just over 2 lbs a week so I am not complaining. It would be nice if it was faster but something is better than nothing. This week I am shotting for slipping back into the 170's.
Yes, GS is a hoot and it is fun watching him grow up so fast. He is smart as a whip also but that has its down sides because he figures out how to out smart us and how to do things he shouldn't know how to. |
Wow, I was able to go for a wonderful cart ride last night with Peek. The weather was crisp and he was energetic and his feet didn't hurt. His little legs were just dancing while we were going down the road. It was a two apple night last night and he knew it. He was searching my pockets before I even got his harness all the way off. He is such a special little guy.
I tell you I dislike this time of year for one reason, none stop gun fire. Peek was alright with it but everyone is sighting in their guns. We did scare out a buck and doe and unfortunate for them they were headed down a trail that leads past the deer blind of the Sheriff that lives down the road. Soon, it won't be safe to be outside. I always worry about my pony's during this time of year. Well I better get going an dI will talk to you all later. |
after eating carby food for a week while the gums were healing and allowing my colon to settle back down..i am left starving!!! Today i will add real food back into my diet..no nuts or seeds for a long time still. I havent gained any weight from the scales this morning but i am starving already and its not even 6am. I found myself craving a little debbie nutty bar last night..that stuff usually doesnt phase me...well last night it was all i could think of...I didnt eat it..but i sure wanted to eat one or two...LOL
My mouth is much better except for the itching..i guess its healing..according to my mom.LOL time to go and do my pushup challenge..day 2 week 1. I am so sore from it still!! Guess that shows its working!!! |
Ha, ha. All last week I was craving chips and this week it's cookies so I hear ya dgramie. I did give in and had a few. A Little Debbie nutty bar would be good too. Glad your mouth is getting better. I can feel the scar on my gum where I had stitches a few years ago.
I did 5 push-ups yesterday. I'm trying 5 this week and next week I'll try to do 6 each day I do them. I've been getting in all my exercise this week and my eating has been pretty good, besides a few stray cookies. I'm in my size 10 jeans. Did I tell you that before? If I did ignore it (age is cutting in). My DH told me I was looking skinny. Poor man hasn't lived with a skinny woman in all his life and thinks I'm skinny. Ha, ha. Maybe someday I will be able to claim the title slim but I don't think skinny will ever describe me. Anyway no one wants to be skinny. |
Retiredone that is great news about the jeans. I would take a size 10 at this point.
dgramie glad your mouth is feeling better. Carbs don't stay with me and the more I eat the more I want. I love Little Debbie Nutty Bars! They are my fav. Anything with peanut butter and chocolate combo will work for me. LOL! Chocolate really hasn't been agreeing with me lately so I am avoiding it. Work has been crazy today so I have to go and I will talk to you all later. |
Hi all. I'm new to the site but not new to dieting. The last week I've been counting calories and it's working for me. I read somewhere in one of these threads how to find my Metabolic Resting Rate (on Google). That's the number of calories I will burn if I stayed in bed all day and didn't move. So if I eat a little less than that number and move a little, my body has no choice but to lose weight. With that in mind, I can keep at it.

Hello everyone Happy Thursday! Wow, Halloween is tomorrow. I haven't met my goal for it. I am so lacking! But this really helps motivate me to jump back on.....But this weekend I plan on hurling out the junk and starting November on the right foot!!! We plan on doing Christmas photos so yeah I don't want to look like Santa. LOL! DH is dealing with a bad cold,
bad cold= whiny, moody Dh. He passed it to me, so I have a throat cold. Thanks! Tomorrow I will not have to wear my splint anymore. Doc says it's ok to go naked, and the bruising is GONE! Grammy- I haven't weighed myself since I got back from CA, I know I am probably up to the 70's! My 8's are not fitting well. Shame on me.... Be careful out there, with hunting season. That's so scary! I loved the lil Debbie bars too! But now it's only like a once a month thing, more like when TOM hits. Dgramie- Good to hear that your mouth is feeling better too!! How was it adding real food yesterday? retire- LOL about the skinny comment. I know that I wasn't liking my co-workers calling me that too. I prefer to be curvy, but not fat. LOL! With my jugs and booty, I will never be skinny. Deb-:wel3fc: don't be a stranger around here!!! |
Bad day...that little debbie nutty bar won today..we had fought all week and it won today and i ate it!!! along with a lot of other stuff i didnt need..
grrr tommorow is a new day and a fresh start!! Its like i am starving and cant get full...plus tom is a week late!!!GRRR |

I feel you. I have been fighting with myself the past couple of weeks, too. On track. Off. On track. Off. No binges, but a lot of small derailments. :dizzy: Protein is your friend. Helps you to heal and keeps you feeling full, longer. :D Hello, fellow counters. Life is crazy and I have been busy and haven't had a whole lot of Internet time. But I wanted to catch up with you gals and say hey. Thanks to my waffling on and off track, my weight loss has slowed a bit. But, I am really working on getting back to behaving myself and hopefully it will pick back up, again. I have only lost about four pounds in the last two weeks... Not good. Tinky, I don't think I made my Hallowe'en goal, either. I'll find out, tomorrow... ;) Welcome, Deb! GrammyL, your drive sounds heavenly. :D Be very, very careful out there. Hunting season is scary business. Nothing like a bunch of blood crazed macho men running around with beer and high powered rifles. Some of those idiots will fire on anything that moves. I hope that your ponies will be okay. |
scales confuse me!!! I dont offically weigh in till tommorow but i took a sneak peek today expecting to be up a pound or more from my binge yesterday. But NO Im down a pound!! I looked back at my month and i have stayed the same..kinda down a pound then up a lb. NOt a good month for me overall.Sure dont want to start the stall mode...exercise has been good this week but lacking earlier in the month..time to pump it up again and get some lbs off before the holidays.
hugs |

dgramie ~ I swear its the season. Everyone I talk to just wants to eat and eat right now. Its like our bodies are going into survival mode for winter or something. I couldn't have those nutty bars in the house, I could eat a whole box if they were. We don't keep snack cakes in the house for that reason. Rain how is your toe and torn muscles doing? The ribs sound horribly painful. I don't think a 4 lb loss sounds bad at all. I am only losing about 2 lbs a week myself but it all adds up. I have lost 10 lbs in 5 weeks. I checked my records this morning. Always look at progress as progress. I rarely look at the big picture because its to much to handle. I always wanted to be one of the super losers (sounds funny LOL!) but if I were then I wouldn't learn all I am learning on my way to goal. Doing it slow is teaching me to be consistent on my eating habits and it is also creating a healthier lifestyle. Today I stepped on the scale and walla 180 finally. I was so happy to be so close to be the 170's again. I will get there, yes I will. I only have 5.2 lbs to be back where I was before I started gaining before our trip. I went from 174 to 193 in about 6 weeks. Its amazing how quickly it can come on but how long it takes to get it back off. 6 weeks to gain and about 8 to 9 weeks to lose it all again. Maybe its a lesson to exam and learn from. Well I better get going for now and I will talk to you all later. |
Boo! :D GrammyL, congrats on the milestone! :dancer: My toe is better... Almost all the bruising is gone and it only hurts a little, now and then. I am back in shoes and walking around very comfortably. It is at a funny bit of an angle, tho. My chest wall strain and inflammation is healing very slowly. I ran out of Advil and am hurting, again. So, I need to get some and start taking it, again. I think it is the inflammation that hurts the worst. :?: But, I'll live. :D Thank you for asking. Have a great day, everyone. Watch out for that Hallowe'en candy. It is sneaky stuff. Luckily, I don't have small children or get Trick-or-Treaters, so I don't have any around. |
That is good news Rain on foot and yes, inflammation hurts. I tried to go down to on anti inflammatory a day and it didn't work. The odd part it was my hip that hurt so bad I almost couldn't walk not my feet. So when I run out next week. He said if things still hurt to go back and I am. I am not going to continue to be in pain with this hip. It has been nice this past month walking without pain for the first time in years. Something has to give.
No candy at our house either. We live in the middle of nowhere and we will be gone during that time so I got off the hook. Never in all the years that I have lived there have I had any trick-r-treaters other than my GS. One of the lab groups got together and brought in goodies so I am avoiding the conference room. They are so nice, they brought me a slice of ICK. I closed my eyes and carried it in to my boss and offered it to him. He took it. I said the only thing I can have is the two berries on top. LOL! It looked SOOOO good but I kept saying 180, 180 over and over again and this is the devil. I am off and I will be back on Monday. Have fun everyone! Have a spootacular weekend. |
It's not the candy that gets me. It's the chips. (You guys must be tired of hearing that.) So yesterday I was shopping for some Halloween goodies as we ate all the chips I'd bought and I found Halloween bags of pretzels. Perfect. I don't like pretzels unless they are in the bags of party mix. I also bought a box of Hershey's treat size bars but DH didn't give them out because they're his favorite. He gave out the pretzels and tootsie roll pops but kept the Hershey's for himself. I could probably eat one and not take a second one but I left them alone. I had a mini tootsie pop instead (about 17 calories). We had 72 kids come to the door. The pretzels are gone and half the tootsie pops. DS's GF loves the pops so they'll slowly disappear. Ha, ha. And DH, DS and mom will make short work of the bars.
I'll see you all in the November thread. |
