Rain here are some old pictures of Peek. The are two years old. I will have to get pictures of him with the new cart and harness. I will try and have my DD get an action picture. That boy can fly for about a mile but then he gets tired. He just isn't conditioned for much more than that at this time. I would like to change that but that cart in the picture was just to heavy for his little feet and put to much pressure on his shoulders plus his harness wasn't the greatest but we had one custom made for him this year. DH says I spoil and pamper him to much but he has bad feet and that is why he isn't in the show ring anymore I do believe. Its amazing what a pair of shoes can do for him however.
You can tell he likes his treat time. I give him corn in his rubber tub. My pasture looks better now that I only have ponies in the paddock. I hate the picture of him in the pasture because its all dirt, it isn't anymore. |
Hello everyone!
I love my Calorie King book and my Biggest Loser calorie counter as well. Both very awesome books. |
Hey everyone!! Wow, I haven't been here in a long long time, and I have weight gain to prove it! :dizzy:
My trip to CA was nice, I didn't get anything accomplished. I ended up leaving my Driver's License at home! Do you know how much of a pain it is to be w/o one? The family were great, and were pretty shocked at my weight loss. But I need to stop that before I gain it all back! Ugh! So back on the wagon I go. We are having our reception next year, not this year, who knows now, with DH's job. He works for what was Washington Mutual. So we're playing the waiting game. They are going to let them know by Dec 1, whether he will be let go or be the lucky ones and make it through June 1st, and either get laid off then or work for JP Morgan. It's a bit stressful. So here a I am again. It's been so busy since I came back. But I think I am back on my normal routine. Rain & Grammy- Thank you for missing me! It feels good ;) GrammyL- Are you back on the 6wbmo? I am contemplating going back on it, but I think I will to lose the excess weight I gained. I thought I might try something new, but still thinking. Ok just wanted to stop and tell you guys, I am alive and well, and will catch up later tonight. |

Have a good evening everyone and congratulations to everyone losing weight. |
This is my first time posting about a weigh-in. Over the last two weeks I've lost 3 pounds - YEAH! (Didn't weigh in after week 1 because it was TOM and not worth it, IMO). I've mostly kept within my goal calorie range, but have not managed to do so every day of the week. If I can manage to get more in control and hit the goal every day, I know I'll lose more :)

Hello...I am new to all this calorie counting thing...My husband and I are dieting together, which helps out alot. My children are aware to stop from having any cravings we have basically removed any and all sweets from the house, including all carbonated drinks, juices, etc. drinking nothing but water. (with exception for their snack juices they take to school each day.). My husband and I are on prescription diet pills from our doctor. The problem is getting all the calories in. I have been keeping my own lil excel spreadsheet with every bite of everything we are putting in our mouth, and calculating the calories. We are trying to stay around the 1200 calorie range for the both of us, and we are barely reaching a lil over 1000. My husband weighed yesterday and was down 8lbs since Friday (First day of our calorie counting) I have not weighed as we don't have a scale at home, and I am honestly waiting to get one. My husband is at 317lbs and we want to have a scale that will read his weight accurately so we are waiting until he drops the other 17lbs to buy one since most in our area will only weigh 300 or less. He has a nurse at work and he will go there to be weighed, frequently. So, I guess I am wondering if not quite hitting the 1200 mark will hurt us more than help us. I weighed apx. 220lbs a week or so ago, my goal is 90lbs over time. We have started walking a mile a day, and doing a few crunches after our walks. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Here's our average Breakfast, Snack and Dinner.
Breakfast - Quaker Oats Weight Control Instant Oatmeal Snack (Him) Single Serving Cottage Cheese, and a Med. Peach Dinner - Last night was just Taco Meatloaf 2 Servings each (240 calories a serving) Lunch is crazy, he works 3rd Shift is a sleep, I am back in College and have classes during lunch time, so I grabbed 18 Quaker Mini Honey Graham Rice Cakes (2 servings) to take to class with me. Any Suggestions? |
Hello,
sorry i have been MIA lately. Not alot going on really...cheated yesterday and scales really jumped up today...I had been craving fried chicken so last night i had it. It was good but not worth it!! Still waiting to hear when our granddaughter will be born. We should get answers tommorow. Wedding planning is kinda slowed down for now. She has pretty much everything done that can be done at this point. I have the week off from work and am cleaning house. Wow it sure felt GREAT yesterday to give away 5 bags of clothing all size 20-28. I even tried on a few to remind myself how far I have come now!! IM back on track today and will make sure i up my water to flush out all that sodium from the chicken. Tom is here also and making me miserable. NOt to mention unbearable sinus pressure!! Its that time of year here..corn is being cut and it always gets me. hugs |

I listen to Jillian Michael's radio show podcasts (she is a trainer on The Biggest Loser in case you do not know who she is) and she says men should never....absolutely NEVER go below 1800 calories a day and women should never go below 1200. Anything below those amounts are starvation modes and you both will slow down your metabolisms. |

You need to sit down and plan out your meals and eat what you plan so you'll get in all your caloric and nutritional needs. Your children need to see you and DH eat well balanced healthy meals that look similar to what they are eating. Come and post here as often as you need to. We'll be here to help and support your weight loss. |
Didn't even think about Jillian Michaels having podcasts! I'm so going to check those out right now.

Llara, Peek is beautiful! Thank you for sharing pictures. :D
Dgramie, hi! :D Hey Tinky, welcome back. I hope that you had a great time in California. :D I am on track and got my exercise, today. I am working back up to where I was before I had to rest this stupid knee. 25 minutes yesterday, 30 today. Not ideal, but better than nothing. I have re-thought the pumpkin thing. I had it the other night and liked it well enough. Then I tried to eat some with lunch and it just grossed me out. So, pumpkin is off the list... Unless it is in pie. Mmmm..... Piiiie..... *shakes head* Sorry about that... Had a moment, there. PantheaWoman, Welcome to 3FC and Calorie Counters. From reading your post, I have to say that I think that both you and your husband are in far too low calorie ranges. You should be eating a minimum of 1200 a day and your husband should be eating at least 1800 to 2000, minimum. The problem with too low calorie levels is that you can lose some weight, fast. But sustaining that low a level over the long haul just isn't doable. You are likely to crash and end up eating and gaining back everything you worked so hard to lose. Plus that weight will most likely bring a lot of new friends to the party. And that just sucks. I know... Been there, done that. Don't really want to see you two go there. *yawn* Sorry about that. Son of mine worked until midnight, last night. Came home, made a lot of racket and totally disrupted my sleep. (Not his fault, it is our living arrangements.I hate my house...) Later, gators. :D |

Did your doctor give you calorie guidelines along with those pills? Did he tell you what you should be eating or give you guidelines as to what you should eat? I agree with the other posters, you should not go under 1200 an your husband should be eating more then that (1800 sounds good to me, but I haven't done the research for men.) Since it sounds like you are having problems getting the volume in, why not add some healthy calorie dense foods to your diet? Nuts, avocados, nut butters, cheese (in moderation) will all help you get the calorie numbers up. Looking at your menu, I'd suggest eating steel cut oats instead of the instant. You can pre-cook them and keep them in the fridge to make the mornings easier. I love oatmeal and this is what I put in it, 1 cup steel cut oats, 1T flax seeds (ground), 2T soy milk, 2T raisins, and 1t honey (works out to 280 calories.) You could add in some chopped walnuts to get more calories. You can also get more calories in by snacking. Cut up veggies, fruit, whole grain crackers with hummus, boiled eggs, cheese sticks, or half a peanut butter sandwich on whole grain bread are all healthy easily transported snacks. Feel free to ask more questions if you want to. :) That's why we are here! I think it's excellent that you set up a spread sheet! Writing everything down is key! |
Well today is the day we find out when our baby comes. I am so excited about getting to hold her. I cant believe im going to be a grandmother!!!
I didnt end up getting my cleaning done yesterday...i was to sick with sinus pressure. I am feeling better today and plan on knocking it out this morning. gotta get back on track with eating today...and really need exercise today as well. I also really slacked on my water yesterday. Gotta get on plan today!! I want to get the next pound off so bad!! hugs to all |
Good morning, fellow counters.
I had a good day, yesterday. On track got my exercise and enough water. Other than that... Not too much going on. Later, gators. :D |
|
Tinky, yes I am doing the 6WBMO again and strict this time. I just need to get my weekends down and its going to just melt off just like yours did. I am down to 185 from 192/3 two weeks ago. Those numbers make me panic when I see them.
Right now I can't really exercise to get the weight off because I have bursitis in my hip and plantar fasciitis in my feet along with a bone spur on one. I didn't have a choice but break down and go to the doctor because the pain was becoming debilitating. The hip 6 years and the feet 3 months. When you can't walking without extreme pain you finally give in and go. Retiredone, I have had horses for 14 years but I grew up around them just never had one of my own until then. I had always had ridding horses and lost my best friend this year, had him 14 years. But about 5 years ago I traded a horse for two driving ponies. I sold the bad one and kept this little guy, Peek. Our personalities work together. Neither of these pictures do him justice but they are what I have. This guys coat just glows in the summer and I can make him park (spread out) so far that he is on his tip toes in the back. When he is working he holds his neck right straight up in the air and tucks his nose in. His feet almost touch is chest and belly because the lifts them so high. Its a lot of work for them to do this so he can't do it for more than a mile or so but it is beautiful. We also have two miniatures right now also, Zeus and Pibbs. Pibbs is headed to a trainer next year to get him cart safe. Zeus is cart safe but bullheaded but I can make him do what I want but he is DD's mini and she doesn't work with him enough. He is a doll and with consistent work would would be as well trained as Peek. Can you tell I love my guys. |
Patheawoman ~ Are the diet pills taking your appetite away that much? I did doctor prescribed diet pills called Fastin. OH MY GOSH! I couldn't eat, sleep or do anything, I was a fastin alright. I eventually had to stop taking them and I think they are off the market now but as soon as I stopped taking them I gained it all back. Diet pills are great as long as you are able to make life long nutritional/exercise changes to keep it off after you stop taking them. My mistake was I learned nothing. I just want you to be careful and kind to your body. Take the pills but learn about proper nutrition and make life time changes.
dgramie ~ I thought you were already a grandmother. LOL! That is what I get for thinking. My first grandchild, I was young only 37 when was born, almost three years ago. It really is a special feeling. I think I was more excited about his birth than my own girls. Lets say, he is a little spoiled. I am not as close with my second GS because his Dad and DH/I don't see eye to eye. He has even threatened to not let us see our old GS. He is a dead beat, jail bird and a major JA but DD just had to marry him last week. ARG! Yep, getting phone calls from people congratulating me on my new SIL. AHHHH! I offer to give him to them but no one else wants him either. LOL! |
Rain nothing wrong with what you had to say. Being on track is a wonderful feeling and its nice to see others that are doing their best to be a success.
Well I need to send a package and do a department errand even though my feet are hurting. I will stop back either later today or tomorrow. |

I can really sympathize with you on your hip and feet. When I was working I had to have physiotherapy on my hip and I've suffered with plantar fasciitis and heel spurs for years. Right now my feet are much better and the inflammation is under control. I thought I was going to be a wheel chair one summer because my feet were so tender I could barely get out of bed in the morning and the pain was intense during the day. I never go with bare feet and I'm often wearing sneakers around the house. I've learned to buy good shoes with good shock absorption in the heel area. I couldn't wear high heels for a long time but since I've lost weight I can wear them for short periods of time but they've got to be as comfortable as a heel can get. I love calorie counting. I had apple pie for supper tonight and I could eat it without guilt (as far as calories are concerned). Not the best supper nutritionally speaking but very good. It was made with whole wheat pastry and non-hydrogenated margarine so it may be a teeny, tiny bit more healthy than a regular pie but the calories and fat were still there. And I didn't go over my calories. Have a good evening everyone. |
Rain Dancer, I have a recipe for Pumpkin Soup that is quite tasty. It could also be made with carrots. I interchange pumpkin and carrots all the time even in pie. I got the idea from reading about Bugs Bunny and his love for carrot pie. I can't remember the name of the book but it was a favorite of my boys when they were little. So one day I decided to make a carrot pie for them and just used the pumpkin pie recipe substituting carrots for pumpkin. It was a huge hit.
|
Thanks for the pumpkin soup idea, Retiredone. I think I am just going to call the pumpkin a wash.
On track today, got a little exercise. Not as much as I was wanting to, because I couldn't get enough time and privacy. I'll try again, tomorrow. Have a good night, everyone. :smug: |
Quote:
Glad to see you back here. I haven't been posting much here since our move, but I lurk. ;) |
Retiredone ~ That is what my fear is, now that I have this problem it will always be there. I am hoping not but I am a very active person and can see flair ups in the future. Maybe I will try buying those shoes that have the little shock looking this in the heal.
Last night I iced my feet and hip and stretched things. I was very active so I figured this morning extreme pain but to my surprise no pain just a swollen feeling. So I am going to do what I did yesterday every night and see how things feel next week. I just wish my doc would have given me the information necessary to help them or sent me to a specialist. Thank goodness for the internet. |
Zenor no such luck on DD. I think she does things just to irritate all those around her. All I care is the get on their feet and take care of themselves financially. If that is what she wants fine but they need to be financially independent because I can't help them and my Mom needs her money for her.
I guess he has to pay $100 on his child support by the end of the month or he goes back to jail. I don't really care and refuse to help. She was better off while he was in jail. |
Tinky I feel for you and your DH in this financial crises with his job. I am positive everything will work out but I would hate to have everything up in the air like that. HUGS!
My youngest turned 18 today. Wow, I feel old although I know I am not. I am only 40. LOL! I was talking with a faculty member that is only 2 or 3 years younger and we were laughing because today is his youngest sons birthday, he is 2 yrs old. So we both children born today, mine a girl, his a boy and 16 years apart and we are in the same age group. We were comparing where our kids are in life and started laughing. Well I am off. |
GrammyL, if you buy shoes with the little cushion in the heel walk around in the store with them on for a while before you buy them. I bought a pair and after I got them home and was wearing them to work I had to take them off because I could feel the edge of the cushion where it met the sole of the shoe. It was stitched in and I could actually feel the stitches. My feet are very sensitive. One of the other teachers had a pair just like mine and she loved them because they were so comfortable. I gave mine away because they hurt my feet so much. I found that gel inserts worked for me. I just bought them at the drug store and put them in my winter boots when I walked to school. I found they absorbed the shock much better than the gel shoes. I think my feet have gotten a good rest since I retired from teaching and that's why they don't hurt as much any more. I have occasional flare ups but nothing like they used to be. Hope yours feel better soon (and your hip also).
|
Retiredone ~ I think I might try the gel inserts first because I really like my Nike's that I have. I just wasn't sure how well those worked. DH tried them once and didn't like them but he is a big guy and maybe they didn't have enough padding for him.
OK, I was tricked. I bought a big salad already made up. It had some pineapple in it so I considered that my carb, which now I realize there were only a few chunks and then bell pepper and what appeared to be just a dusting of cheese. I didn't use the dressing that came with it, I just put my tuna on. Well that cheese like substance was coconut. OH, nut the most taste combination for me, tuna w/mustard, over spinach with onion, pineapple and bell pepper fine but not coconut mixed in. YUCKO! It is just palatable. LOL! I won't make that mistake again. Well I don't have to worry about DD getting another tattoo because she almost couldn't handle the pain. The faces she was making were something else and I thought she was going to start crying. She had it in one of the most comfortable spots to get one. ARG! DH had me take pics of her getting it because he couldn't be there and we paid for it. Then, she went and bought cigs. :-O She turned 18 yesterday and has been hiding from us that she smoked or so she thought. Our vehicle smelled like smoke when we came back from vacation and we had a chat about people smoking in our house and vehicles. We quit and now we really smell it on people. Well have to go for today. Talk at you all later. |
Ah to be 18 and rebellious! GrammyL~ I hope that's as far as the rebellion goes, for your sake! The more I talk to friends with teenagers (and the more I remember from my youth) the more I think I want boys when we have kids.
I've done okay the last few days calorie wise. TOM is rearing it's ugly head so it's been hard to not give into the cravings, but I'm doing okay. I had two job interviews last week for the same company and I'm waiting to hear back from them. Waiting to hear is driving me nuts. I hope everyone has a good weekend. |
GrammyL, tuna and coconut??? Ack! :barf: I love tuna, but I don't think I would like it mixed with coconut. I am also a former smoker. I gave it up over 14 years ago. One of the best things I ever did. :D
So, a good on track day going. I got in a 40 minute cardio workout while everyone was out of the house. Oh! Bliss! Time to myself, privacy to exercise without listening for the stairs creaking, signaling an invasion from below stairs. I had a few shout-outs I wanted to do. Should have written them down. (I need a new brain!) So, I will just say... Hello everyone! Congratulations to everyone having a great, on track day and getting their exercise. To everyone who is struggling, having a feeding frenzy day or is ill or injured and not up to exercise,:hug::hug:. Hang in there, it will get better. |
Today has been a good day! Not only is it Friday, it was a payday (we get paid every other week), I have been doing really well with staying on plan so far today and I even walked for an hour this afternoon after school with a friend of mine and her kids. It is such a beautiful day out!! Mid 70's with a breeze and sunny. Can't get much better than that....especially since the cold weather's coming in soon ;)
|
grammyL- I run an inhome daycare so that is the kids i talk about alot. My granddaughter will be here tommorow. Mom and dad are in the hospital now waiting for them to induce labor in the morning. I am so excited i am afraid i wont be able to sleep. I didnt make my goal for her arrival but thats ok..im close..and she doesnt care how much I have lost.LOL
Cant get into the dentist till mid week so my tooth is still packed with dental wax..fun fun Scales didnt budge this week at all..i know with my tooth hurting i havent drank near enough or eaten enough.. hope everyone has a great week.. |
I have great news! I'm employed! Yay! I can now stop stressing about what we would do when our savings runs out. I start mid-week.
Now that the pressure is relieved a bit, maybe I can stop stress eating. I haven't gained, but I haven't lost much either. |

I am always worried that people might think I am ignoring them when I'm really not. Edited to add: Tuna and coconut would be gross together. Ick. |
cwoman- well I did get some sleep last night. I am going to head out in a hour or so..got a bag packed just incase i decide to stay overnight. I have 3 adult kids and this sure is a feeling i have never had before!! Your grandson is precious!!
scales have jumped up 5lbs since yesterday. time to get back to eating more food. I am hoping to have this tooth fixed by midweek and then maybe i will be able to eat and drink like normal. I know i didnt gain 5lbs from eating homemade veggie soup.LOL stupid scales!! |
Zenor I wish that was all the more she rebelled. The girl comes up with new things daily and loves to spend money. Now that she has her tattoo she wants to trade her mini for a horse and then of course it has to have all new driving equipment. Her Dad told her absolutely not. She is ticked and why because if I wanted to do it I could. :-O I think I pay for everything I have and I take care of it, she ignores her mini all the time.
Rain I ate way to much one day this weekend. You know when I was done I was ashamed, felt horrible and really mad at myself. I just wish I could figure out why I do this to myself. Maybe I like being depressed and angry. Not sure why. I have to agree with all of you, I will never eat the combo again. Tuna and coconut. YUCK! Sends shivers down my spine just thinking about it still. Zenor that is fantastic news about the job. Wishing you good luck with it. How are you enjoying the new environment. Hopefully you won't have to move for a while now. |
Quote:
Dgramie, you must be sooo excited! Cwoman, your grandson is such a little cutie! Hi everyone! I hope that you all had a wonderful weekend. Ours was pretty good. :smug: I was on track and got a lot of walking done on Saturday. We went to do some shopping and errands. I am getting around sooo much better than I was in June, when I started this whole journey. Instead of having to be dropped and picked up at the door of the store and having to go home, wiped out after one store, I can hike it from the outer reaches of the parking lot to the door. Shop and bounce back to the car and move on to the next destination. Getting in and out of the car is easier, too. No more struggling and wondering if I am going to make it. I still have a long way to go, but the small amount of progress I have made so far has already made a big difference in my quality of life. I wasn't able to work out yesterday, no privacy at all. And today is a bust because of my knee. *sigh* I am not happy about missing days. But I am happy that I am exercising regularly and that it is actually starting to become a habit. :D Have a great, on track, happy day, everyone! :D |
Well the scale didn't move for this week again. Hopefully I can keep it together all week this week and see a movement. Seems as if I am just stuck but I know I can do it with a little determination.
Feet are feeling better and now I think I can start walking again a little. I over did it this weekend but recognized it fast so I didn't cause a big set back. Seems nice to be able to walk and not think about how bad each step hurts. dgramie it will come right back off as soon as you restart, don't fret. Took GS for a drive with my pony last night in the new cart. He loved it because he could sit on the seat next to me or stand between my legs because the cart is big enough and has a back rest, my other didn’t. He went to lean forward to put his hands on the bar and I told him no because the horsey would fart in his face or worse poop. He thought that was SOOOO funny. Every time Peek lifted his tail he would say Peek farted and giggle. Seems good to be able to share my passion with him. He isn’t interested in ridding so I may find a new home for Pibbs. I only have time for one horse and Pibbs deserves better and so does Peek because he loves attention. I was offered a nice ridding/driving workhorse and all his tack and equipment for $500 but I am passing that up also even though its hard. I love workhorses and that is a steal. Still thinking about it. Well I have to get going and I will talk to you all later. |
Canadian woman your GS is such a little doll. I seem to enjoy my GS more than I did my own girls. LOL! I have mine every weekend and he is the center of attention which he really enjoys. He is a ham.
Rain that is fantastic that you are seeing the changes you are seeing. I think back to how tired I was when I was at 235. I just didn't want to move, weekends it just started earlier sitting on the sofa. I would cook a quick junky meal for the family or we ordered out and then hit the chair and smoke. Now, I cook my meals and go and enjoy the great outdoors or clean house. Lately its run the roads but hopefully that is done for a while. I like relaxing when I get out of work. |
