  • I was glad this morning to be just a bit more firmly planted into the 150's with a reading of 158, another lb down. 2/10 for Labor Day goal.

I hope everyone's doing good and staying on track. I'll have to admit that it's been a struggle for me, the past week or so, but my good-choices making side prevailed. ^^
  • Congrats on the weight loss this week, Courtney and Layri! Layri, I know what you mean. I'm glad to be past the holiday and birthday weeks, myself.

No change on my ticker yet. I did hit 193.6 this past week, but I round up for the ticker, so no change there. My average did go down .5 lbs for the week, so I know I'm still heading the right direction! NSV, though: I bought my first pair of 36" waist jeans. I thought they'd be tight, but bought them for a motivator, anyway. I tried them on Weds night, and they are even a little loose! I couldn't believe it! Brand new and everything! That means I can finally, officially, say I'm down a size!
  • Layri- I am so proud of you! LOOK how close you are to goal!

Bit o' water weight disappears and I'm closer to my goal. Yeah!

My trainer is writing up a 5 or 6 day program to follow every week. I can't stay away from it, I love it. Ohmygawd it's addictive, isn't it?

Have a great weekend everyone! Mine will start off with a kick tonite, our city has an organized 17 mile evening bike ride with about 1500 participants. Fun! Hope I don't crash into anyone, I'm a klutz.

And I'm particularly klutzy today, I scraped my car's expensive wheel against the curb and gashed it good, so I used my scooter later this afternoon and scraped it on the same curb! I then hit my head hard on an aluminum awning and nearly cracked my tooth on a fork. I am not having a graceful day. Bah. I'm wondering what mishap I'll have tonite on the ride.
  • Zowee Wowee Jam! Congrats! You posted while I was or you know I would have given you a shout out!
  • I'm on vacation at my son's but I weighed in early before I left this morning. Lost another 1/2 pound towards the Labor Day Challenge. So it's 2/10. Eight more pounds to go!

And congratulations to everyone who has lost or is working hard on their goals for Labor Day. I just found two brand new pairs of pants I bought 2 years ago still with tags on and when I tried them on I knew they'd fit by Labor Day if I lose the 10 pounds so I'm adding that as a little more incentive to lose.
  • I weighed myself in and lost 2 pounds!! I was excited to see the scale go down considering the holiday last weekend and things being crazy at my house and not as much exercising as I should have done.

    So, 2/15-20 lbs
  • FB, how'd the bike ride go? Hope you're still in one piece, after that day you had! I've had those days, too. Congrats on the 3 lbs already!

Isabella and Chele, WTG on the weight loss this week!

I'm off to the Y in a little bit, for a lifting workout and probably a little cardio afterward. Trying to see if a 1pm workout time will be good for me, Tues/Thurs/Sat there. If so, that would put me in the right neighborhood on Tues/Thurs, which are my days to run errands, thus saving a little on the gasoline expense. Also, by going a little later in the day than I have been, my ds11 could come along, at a time when the pool is open for kids to swim, and on Saturdays, at least, I could swim with him, after my workout. It all sounds good on paper, so we'll see if it works!

Diva, I ordered the YRG yoga, and looked at the first workout today. Since it's geared toward getting macho guys to try yoga, I don't know it would be your style or not. There are a couple of corny moments in there, for sure, that are geared toward making it "cool" for guys. Otherwise, it looks pretty normal, and since I bought it, I'm going to try it. If it helps me improve my flexibility, and it looks like it will, then I can overlook the corny bits. I'll be buying a mat today, then I can do the first workout on Monday, since tomorrow is a rest day for me.
  • Jammy- it was amazing!
Amazing because in past years I've always sat and waved at my husband and son as they biked by. I was always wistful, jealous and mad at myself when watching them. No way in the world I could have done it in the shape I was. Heck, getting the bike out of the house would have been enough to zonk me out.
I accidentally lost my husband, son and friends, did the 17 mile course, ended up in the top pack of riders (although I started in the way back) and didn't see my people when I got to the finish.
40 MINUTES LATER they pulled up having finished the 10 mile course. I didn't say anything to them, how far and fast I had gone (didn't want to seem smug), but I was so freaking proud of myself!
That was a seriously amazing experience that validates how much this is worth it. This journey has been worth every drop of sweat, every heart pounding moment of cardio, all of the strenuous weight lifting, every moment of resisted food temptation.
No wrecks either! Just a fear nerve wracking moments.
  • Awesome, FB! You must have been flying!

Well, the Y was awesome today. The free weight room was practically empty, and I got to try some of the equipment I was too embarrassed to try when it was crowded.

Did squats in the power cage with the BB for the first time...form kinda fell apart, so I'll have to keep practicing with lighter weights till I get used to balancing with the BB on there.

Did the bench press for the first time since high school, and that went well, I thought. Didn't bust any records, for sure, but got up to 90 lbs on the last set, despite starting out too low and doing about 3 sets too many trying to find a good weight. Not too shab for a first time, though, and more than I expected.

I also tried out the cardio rower machine, and did intervals on the treadmill (first time using a treadmill, too). The treadmill was great to run on, once I got used to it, but getting off, I felt dizzy for about a minute, like I was walking on foam or something...land sickness, we used to call it, when I was sailing.

The only problem with changing my workout to later in the day: now I have to eat more of a breakfast, since my protein shake will end up happening about lunch time. Just have to figure what to eat, that won't mess up my calorie and macro plan.
  • Wow FB that is an AMAZING story!!!! Congratulations! And so awesome that you didn't even tell your family cuz it might make *them* feel bad. My DH is an super cyclist. I don't have a bike of my own, but he lugs me around on a tandem. I really could not keep up with him on a bike of my own.

Jammy... big congrats on the NSV!!! Fitted pants are so motivating! I'm planning on ditching all my stretchy pants except for workout clothes to help keep me in line. Also, congrats on trying new exercises! Eating more of your calories at breakfast is probably a healthy shift if you can manage it.

Congrats everyone on your losses! I think this challenge really helps!

We went to a water park yesterday and had a lot of fun. Afterward, we drove right by the super buffet that is next to the park to an Applebee's a few miles away. Whenever we went to the park in the past, we always ate at that buffet, but buffets are one of my biggest weaknesses. Applebee's has a separate WW menu, and I can stay OP easily there. Maybe someday I will slay the buffet dragon, but for now, at least I can eat out!
  • I will do the Labor Day Challenge. I will lose 14 pounds between now and Labor Day. This might sound like a lot, but I've added a few pounds lately and I'll lose at least 5 pounds water weight pretty quickly. You know how that works!

I will stay on track writing down all calories and get on the treadmill 3 days a week, and walk my pups 5 days a week. I've just started the Jillian Michaels Beginner Front and Back and will do each one twice a week. Along with stretching and a few yoga poses - that is the plan!

We can do it - just keep on track!
  • Kris, That sounds like a good plan! What is JM's Front and Back? Is that like lots of pushups, pullups and the like?

Yoyoma, congrats on skipping the buffet. I'd have a hard time eating right at one of those, too. I had been having my protein shake for breakfast, so I was getting plenty of cals and protein, but now I'll have to think of something good I can eat that early in the day. I've never been a breakfast person, and I'm pretty sure I can't stomach broccoli and salmon for breakfast, lol.
  • Cheryl - Jillian Michaels Frontside and Backside. Two different DVD's, 1 is 45 minutes, the other 55 minutes. 5 - 6 circuits each. Each circuit is 1 minute of cardio and then 2 different exercises - 1 upper, 1 lower, each circuit is repeated 3 times. And then on to the next circuit. JM does not exercise - former Biggest Loser contestants demonstrate while she explains what to do, how to do it correctly, and why. Front is more chest, shoulders, biceps, quads; back more back, butt, triceps, hamstrings. More than you wanted to know, right?
  • Looks like everyone is doing SUPER!
Sorry if I forget anyone, but
    Candykisses-Congrats on the pound!
    Layri-Congrats on your success!!
Jammy-Congrats on fitting into a 36!! Muscles are good like that! Onederland looks awesome!
FB-Congrats on your bike ride and hope your head is ok from the fall. Glad you aren't missing any teeth!
Yoyoma-Way to go on not being tempted by the Applebys buffet!
    Kris2008-Welcome!
    Everyone else super job!

I am back on plan since Friday. Last week on Wed. I thought I was getting better, but then had my final day of toileting and wretching! STUPID FLU! But I am feeling COMPLETELY back to normal now. Glad to be back on track...however, with this flu, I am down 10 lbs on the bathroom scale! HAHA! No WAY is that anything more than water loss. I figure if I ***** about water weight GAIN at TOM, I can't be happy about water weight LOSS during a stomach flu! But I'm sure some fat came out somewhere over the last week or so...I will see when I measure myself on the fancy gym scale later in the week.
Hope you all had a great weekend!
    Cheers!
  • Kris, thanks for the great description. Sounds like an awesome cardio workout!

Sgirl, I'm sure you'll get to keep some of that weight loss, which is cool..you should have SOME reward after being sick so many days! Glad you are feeling back to normal, now.

I went to a BBQ yesterday, at my sister's. There wasn't anything that I'd normally eat. That surprised me, because my sister knows what I eat, and kept saying she didn't want me to bring anything, since I was trimming her hedges for her that day, so I didn't. Then, I got there, and it was burgers, hot dogs and chips, and I wished I'd brought some food to share! Next time, I'll know! Still, I decided not to worry about it, and figured a higher calorie day wouldn't be the end of the world. I've kinda been thinking that my cals are too low, now that I'm back to skating, and also with adding in the yoga this coming week, so maybe the one higher cal day will actually not be against the food plan, even though it wasn't really nutritious.

I feel like I either need to do a maintenance cal week, or just raise my daily intake by 200 cals or so, to get the weight loss back in gear. I'd lowered it to see if I could kick things in gear, but a month and a half later, I'm not really seeing a positive effect, so I'm going to try upping them again and see if that's what is needed. I can't imagine going lower, at my weight, and with all the workouts in there. Seems like that would just shut things down pretty quick. All I can do is tweak it again and see what happens!
