This will be an unpopular link, but I read recently in several articles, that 8 glasses of water a day is not really even necessary.

Lori, I like that analogy with the plant. Makes sense to me

i drink coffee tea and water all day...

some days I go more than others.

those are the days that preface a loss on the scale for me.

some nights i get up to pee once
some nights i get up to pee more than once
some nights i get up not at all

just like weight loss it's not predictable.

I think the whole "you have to have 8 glasses a day" has been debunked, but I don't think we need to drink *less* water. I think as a whole, most people don't drink enough.

Actually, I use the word "drink", but possibly consume might be more accurate. It's true that when eating healthily we get a lot of water from our diets as well as the liquid we actually drink, but the average Americans' diet consists of very little fruit and veg and a lot of salty processed foods - which doesn't contain a lot of the water our body needs to function.

that article is very interesting - makes me feel a little better even though who knows how valid it is.

And that is a great analogy. I really don't think I need 64 oz of water a day because I don't work out - I'm not sweating or anything like that. But I know I need water. Obviously. I think I'm going to start drinking 50oz of water a day and see how that goes. Its better then nothing! And thats only about 6 cups a day which is feasible.
