    Nice going on the loss.

    ed
Those things you call snacks are probably part of what I include in my 6 meals a day

    Irish
My son said you sound sexy Wanted to say good luck.

    Grammy
Hope with diet and exercise you can help hubby get things back in order. Dairy seems to help me to even though I have to really make myself take in the 2 required a day. I love to make a milk shake out of 1/2 cup reduced fat ice cream, 1/2 low fat frozen yogurt and then a cup 2% milk and dump in banana or some strawberry's. Fills in some food groups ( dietitian/nutritionist said sure use them as food groups they aren't bad for you. I do this once or twice a week.

    oolon
I keep to what I allow myself and that is it. I eat enough and I sure don't need to hear from others that I don't. I did hear this when we would get together and finally had enough. I don't tend to speak up to anyone because what good does it do but I finally did and I was very nice about it. I told them. It isn't that I don't eat enough. I eat the required amounts of the four basic food groups each day. If I still don't have enough calories in ( happens all the time ) I eat something else that is good for me to get more calories. YOU eat to much, that is why you think I don't eat enough. They never commented again on how much I eat or don't eat lol. Most of the people we are around eat three and four heaping plates of food. That is why they think I don't eat enough. Maybe let your mom and a few others know you are wanting to get healthy and part of that means losing weight. You want to cut down on a few things so you are not going to eat somethings.
  • Oolong~Traditional food will get you every time! My Mom's side of the family are German Mennonites and man, the food was always very fattening at family reunions! I can't say that I'm a big fan of German food except the pickled stuff anyway (I LOVE anything pickled.) So, I understand. Try to enjoy yourself and only eat what you feel you really need/want to eat. Don't let them joke and bully you into eating more. I'm not sure how your culture is, but maybe you should let your boyfriend Mom know that you are trying to lose weight and be healthy. Maybe she'll lay off of the jokes? I know where Croatia is too! I'm terrible with geography when it comes to the US, but I'm pretty good with Europe/Eastern Europe (the US is so huge, and the east coast has so many tiny states.) Anyway, you'll do great this weekend! I believe in you!

Irish~Break a leg and all that! My hubby works in the theatre, so we never wish anyone luck. So, break that leg!

Grammy~Your DH isn't going to be too happy about cutting out the carbs I bet, but he'll feel so much better! Does he eat yogurt or take probiotics? That might help with the Graves disease a bit. My best friends Grandma has to deal with that. What he's eating might effect that too.

Well, DH and I went out for Thai tonight and ate too much. Of course this was after we went out for wine and an appetizer earlier. I feel so stuffed! I'm going to have to eat really light while he is gone in NY next week just to even everything out. I did try something new tonight though. Bubble Tea. I didn't think I'd like the big tapioca pearls, but it was yummy. I don't think I'll make it a regular thing, but it'd make a nice treat.
  • Hi everyone. I hop around so much on 3FC that I sometimes forget where I post and which threads I'd like to chat in!

Grammy - that pic of the happy face in the coffee -- fantastic!! Was that your coffee or did you find the pic on the net?

Irish -- Good Luck auditioning for CI. I hope you go all the way and win the prize!

Oolong - if you hadn't said that English wasn't your first language I never would have known either! I admire anyone who attempts and 'gets' the English language because sometimes I wonder what they were thinking when they made up the rules. lol

Just stopping in to say hi. Is anyone else here participating in the 3FC 5K challenge (the thread is in the Weight Loss Support section, a sticky at the top of the page). I did it yesterday and wow, it felt great to accomplish this.

I hope everyone is doing well with their eating plans. So far, so good for me. I will post back here a bit later (my kids are in need of my attention at the moment so I'm typing this uber fast!) and am looking forward to getting to know you all. Cheers!
  • Morning all

Not a terrible weekend eating for me, not as good as last weekend. There might have been some potato chips and a couple of cocktails Saturday night and for some reason yesterday I didn't track anything on fitday . I'm tracking today though and made it to the gym this morning.

I can't wait to hear from Irish about how the audition went!!

    Happy Monday all.
  • hello, ladies

    everything went great this weekend
I went totally off my calorie plan, and now I'm 1kg up, but what the ****
I even ate chocolate and fruit yoghurt and other "off diet" food, but as of today I'll stay on my diet plan no matter what
I just wanted to have that "one last time" day but the thing is, it wasn't hard to control myself. I was a bit nervous because of PMS , but it was ok.

    And baby is supercute

irish - how did that Idol thing go? sorry if I missed the day, but that time difference...

btw. it is so great you all know where is Croatia an educated crowd
now, I have to go and make some pancakes for my boyfriend and try not to eat any
  • Good Morning Everyone!!! I am so glad that I made it through last week. It was pretty tiring, and stressful. I slept in until 10:30 on Saturday morning, which is rare for me. To me sleeping in on Saturday is 7-8. LOL I get up at 5:00 on week days. We actually got to 75 degrees on Saturday too! I took the dog to the dog park, and afterwards, DF and I had some coke floats from Wendy's! Yum!
Ok so back on plan today. I am bought some Flat Out wraps. I know some of you used them in the past. I can think of some things I want to do with them. Oh I am down a lb after TOM! Yay! LOL! That is a victory for me since I did alot of whatever eating last week!!

Lynne- LOL it always helps with a cute guy there to help you! congrats on getting to 190! I remember when that happened to me too! I felt so good! keep up the good work!

Irish- I will copy that link and listen to your recording at home, my comp at work won't allow me to do that here. I got a Dinosaur computer. LOL! It's funny you mention about the Inlaws, my FIL thinks I don't eat enough. LOL! I'm flattered, but LOL oy!

GrammyL- Good Luck with working on DH, I am also working on DF, he has gone back into the routine with buying coke and pepsi bulk at Costco! I made a comment, yesterday that I hope his blood sugar stays stable. He of course said it was, since he got it checked. Yeah like 4 years ago! This is why I am going to hit my counting hard, it seems like when I make progress he has a health kick. He doesn't know this, but my biggest fear is losing him at a young age. He is by no means totally overweight, but he can stand to lose some poundage. I also wondered that with my dairy too. I was pondering whether I want to buy yogurt and string cheese like I did in the past!

Zenor- Bubble Tea is good, but then I found out how many calories are packed into those babies! I have them once in a while, as a treat.

Oolong- I know where Croatia is too! It it was one thing I was good in school, it was Geography. I usually don't let family functions get me down. I eat what I want, even if it is little of everything. I also carry my plate of food and eat slowly to make it seem I am still eating. LOL!

Hattrick- I need to get back into doing the 5k thing. I may look into it! Or just read what others are doing.

Shy- I sometimes find myself trying to eat to meet the minimal calorie requirement. LOL! Though on some days I don't know how I ate too many. LOL!

Well I know this week will be lighter and not as stressful for me. I am hoping that is true. I spoke too soon last week! LOL! Have a great day everyone!
Here's to a good week, of eating well, and making our goals!
  • well all I wrote abou tmy entire day on my post when it rains it pours but the just of it is I didn't get passed the first tier and They told me to try again next year but man have I had a rough weekend. I gained 3lbs which I am not sure how I thought I did ok with my eating I knew it wasn't perfect but I did stand outside for 8 hours and go bowling saturday night for 3 hours and walked for 1/2 hour sunday but I heard if your stress level goes up sometimes your metabolism slows down so maybe that was part of my problem. I also just found out I may need to come up with 1500 dollars for my motor being fixed in my vehicle. we think the oil pump went and we aren't sure if we drove without oil getting through it for to long It sucks because we just paid off a large amount of our debt but we still have student loans and computer payments to pay off....now we have to add 1500 back on to our credit card.....shoot me now. I have been randomly bursting into tears since staurday but its nto because of not making it on the show its a HUGE lack of sleep, my berves being shot, standing in the rain ofr 8 hours and a bit of disappointment from the show as well, with my husband stressed as well about the car, money and his job I am VERY emotional!!!!!!
  • well guys this may not be over yet...They just released a new part of this years show. If you attended auditions and didn't get in or live in a city that doesn't hold auditions you can tape yourself singing and the producers will take a second look at you!!!!! I think I am going to do it they give you a list of songs...so I am not sure what to pick...I mean a may as well try right??
  • irish, yes you must try. People who have great success will tell you they had to KEEP trying do NOT give up.
  • Irish ~
I know this isn't easy to do right now but I am here to cheer you up. Look at it this way, they must have liked you or they wouldn't have suggested you try again next year. Now, you have a year to get to your weight loss goal and you can find a new teacher that suits your singing style and they can help you excel. You have a beautiful voice but maybe another year is what you need to build your confidence and become perfect.

Zenor ~ I have strong German roots also, my Grandpa was German. I never got to know that side of the family because he died when my Mom was a toddler in WWII. The family didn't have much to do with my Mom and Uncle after that. Of course her Grandma staying in touch but no one else. I remember her plan as day and I was only a toddler when she passed away. She was SOOOOO scary. I have to agree I would eat most any thing that is pickled. Pickled eggs, bologna (Michigan thing), beets and cabbage are my favs. No, I can't get DH to eat yogurt unfortunately.

Hat trick ~ No, have a place on the internet where I get all the fun stuff. I am not that creative. LOL!

Oolon ~ Sounds like you had a great time and it is probably water weight gain and it will come right back off.

Lynne ~ I had a great day yesterday but was off a little on Friday night and Saturday but no damage done thank goodness. I think I made up for it being super good yesterday.

Tinky ~ Men think in the here and now for the most part. My DH doesn't even know what a carb is and when the doc said just cut the sweets he really thought that was all he needed to do. ARG! So I am stuck trying to explain what a carb is and what things he eats that are carbs. I can't decide what to about dairy, its as bad as soy products. Some reports say they are good, some say they are bad and I just feel like I am running around in circles. I think what I am going to do is get my dairy in and just limit the amount. I also am going to stick with low fat/fat free products. I personally can't see fat free, plain organic yogurt bad for you. I add my own fruit and sweetener. I love string cheese and I just make sure I buy the low moisture mozz sticks. I am also going to cut back a little on the amount of soy I have been eating. Once again good and bad reports so I will just limit it to one or two servings a day.

DH had his first bad experience this weekend with his sugar going out of wach. He said he got dizzy, light headed and felt like he was going to pass out. Mind you, when I was having problems he said it was all in my head and I was faking it. I pointed this out to him and he said sorry. He said until you experience it you have no idea how bad it feels. Don't get me wrong I don't wish high or low blood sugar on anyone, its a horrible feeling.
  • Irish- Go for it girl! What do you have to lose? Don't give up your dreams. Don't worry about the 3 lbs. It could be from salt, water, nerves. I'm sure it's temporary.

GrammyL- I feel the same way, I feel like I am runnin circles as well, but I say hey just eat from both and see how it goes from there. I grew up eating soy products, and enjoy it. There is always going to be an opinon on everything though. Whether it's good or bad. I say go ahead and eat them, as long as they help with the weight loss, keep it up.
  • Irish ~ That is fantastic news!
  • Irish you can't help things like cars breaking down or needing parts, those are life's emergencies. It's not like you're being frivolous so get that car fixed. I would give the CI another shot, you've got nothing to lose.

Tink - I don't give my husband much of a choice, I'm the one who does the grocery shopping and cooking and he eats what I make . If I make something he doesn't like he does let me know so I don't make it again, he's pretty good about eating the right stuff he's just awful about going to the gym with me. I got over that though and am happy to go on my own.

Grammy - are you in Michigan? My husband is from there and all his family still live there, we go visit once a year, he comes from Big Rapids a small town about 90 mins away from Lansing. I like the air up there, none of this awful humidity and I love the snow.

Oolong - everyone falls of plan, I did too at the weekend, the important thing is you are back on plan today.

Hat trick - don't you just love Grammy's pictures and sentiments? Grammy.

Zenor and Shy - hope you're having a great monday.
  • Thanks Tinky! I do love soy products and dairy. All things in moderation.

I have thought long and hard lately about what I want to eat and I am tired right now of research and reading articles. So I am doing what I feel is best for me and my health. So I am combining all kinds of protein in my plan. The only protein that I am no longer going to eat is beef and that is just because I don't like it. If I eat fish, turkey and chicken I can lose weight really fast but I always miss the dairy and pork.

I will also continue to do my protein/carb combining and 3 meals/2-3 snacks a day because that keeps my blood sugars level and prevents hunger pains.

I am definitely going to keep my veggies and fruits where they currently are.

So this is my game plan. DH was happy to hear this and has gotten off my back.

I made Chicken Gumbo yesterday, not traditional, healthy version that is low cal. Then for dinner we had grilled chicken salad with a naughty dessert but I had just a little. I was horrified when I stepped on the scale earlier yesterday but relieved when I got on it this morning.

Well I better get going because I joked with my boss a while ago and said I am swamped and then he just came up behind me and I was playing. OPPS!
  • Lynne ~ I live in Shepherd (just south of Mount Pleasant) not to far from Big Rapids. Matter of fact DH and I drove through there about a month ago on a road trip. I used to live half way between Mount Pleasant and Big Rapids. When looking for a job I applied in both Big Rapids and Mount Pleasant. Its not humid in the winter but the summers are bad to me. Then again I have been in the south during the summer and it is definitely better here. I don't like feeling like I can't breath from the humidity.
