Mother's Day Challenge

I hope it's okay to put this up...I didn't see a thread started yet. I know some folks have already hit their Easter Challenge goal, while others are nearly there. :bunny2:

My goal for Mother's Day (May 11) will be 10 lbs, which would get me to 199. ONEderland here I come!

For those new to the idea, you can post a goal for anything: pounds or kilos or stone you want to lose, staying on plan with eating and/or exercise, a certain number of miles or number of workouts you want to do between now and then. Anything that will help motivate you and help you meet your personal fitness and health goals!

Good luck to all! :cp:

blueyedlvrgirl 03-18-2008 01:00 PM

I'll be joining in once I get to my April 1 goal. Having goals keeps me in check...When I am tempted, I think about whether it is worth it to blow the chance of reaching goal. It usually does the trick.

coldbrightday 03-18-2008 01:18 PM

Let's see, that's almost 8 weeks from now... so I'm going to walk/run a combined total of 150 miles by then.

dgramie 03-18-2008 01:23 PM

I will set my mothers day goal at 260. I may not make it but its a reasonable goal. Right now I am only a pound away from my easter goal. I never thought I would make it...I had a 4lb loss last week. After only loosing a pound and half for a few weeks.

Switzie6 03-18-2008 01:43 PM

My Easter goal is not going to happen since I fell off track hard. My mother's day goal will be first and foremost to stay on plan! I'm going to set my weight goal high so I have something to strive for, and I'm going to start now. I am setting it at 20 lbs so that I will be in the 2 o's and so close to onederland!

FB 03-18-2008 01:59 PM

I have a problem setting realistic goals, although I'm pretty close to the high end of my unrealistic Easter goal which was 15-20. I just may make it!

Like Switzie I like to strive for goals. So I'll go for 20 too. I may not reach it but I'll do a great job trying!

I guess I'd start once I reach my Easter goal or Easter- whichever is first?

Hope I make it!

LouMAK 03-18-2008 02:09 PM

Mothers day challenge!

I will give this a try -- let's see, that's about 8 weeks. A realistic goal for me will be 4kg. Here's to a successful challenge! :carrot:

didi123 03-18-2008 03:33 PM

Hi Everyone..
This will be my first challenge since I've just started calorie counting.
I'll say 10 lbs for me...of course I'll take more!! haha
Good luck everyone
Diana

Daffy29 03-18-2008 04:13 PM

Hmmm....this is my first mini-goal also. That's nearly 8 weeks...10 lbs is realistic for me, I guess. That would put me at my 10%, which would be really great.

Here's wishing everyone :dust: !

Ti'an

peachcake 03-18-2008 04:32 PM

I'm in! Goal is 8 lbs by Mother's Day. That will put me in Onederland!

irishfairy 03-18-2008 08:21 PM

My goal is 163....17lbs from where I am now. WOW...163 when I think about that it amazes me I haven't been in the 160's since...grade 10 maybe. I can't even fathom my end weight haven't been that since grade 6 or 7 :S I am having trouble breaking the 180 mark my body seems to want to stick at the 10's...i got stuck at 210, 200, 190 and now 180. I am hoping to be 178 by friday :)

ladybug2008 03-18-2008 10:19 PM

This is my first mini goal too! 10lbs by Mother's Day. Not too much, but not too little either.

Den@ 03-19-2008 12:04 PM

Cheryl,
I'm in! :yay: My goal is to eat within my calorie range 1200-1400 cals during the week and up to 1600 on the weekend. Plus I will exercise every day! I want to make this a habit!! I would love to finally get to my goal weight. It's taking forever. :(

Hugs, Dena

Gela 03-19-2008 12:30 PM

I'm in! I would love to lose 8 lb. by Mother's day!

Sweetcaroline 03-19-2008 12:55 PM

Thanks Cheryl..
Thanks for starting this thread...This is my first challenge... I'm ready.
I'm going with lucky 13... Good Luck everyone...

jamsk8r 03-19-2008 01:01 PM

Wow, this is going to be a great challenge! :goodluck: everyone!

Dena, you've been doing great with your workouts and eating. You did lose a pound this last time, so hopefully you'll get the rest this time!

:welcome2: to all our new challengers!

irishfairy 03-19-2008 05:24 PM

1 lb down....16 to go!!!!

MrsEnigma 03-19-2008 06:15 PM

I'm in! I met my Easter goal a week ago.YAY!

I'm going to go with losing 13 lbs. That would put me at 230.

Another goal is 20 minutes/3 days a week on the elliptical and some kind of other exercise every day. I have Turbo Jam ordered and can't wait to start that. I have WATP too and really like it. And I bought some small weights to give my arms a workout. Surely with all that, I'll find something to do every day! :)

Also want to work on getting more protein in my diet.

jamsk8r 03-20-2008 11:24 AM

Irish, congrats on the weight loss, you're off to a great start! :carrot:

MrsE, WTG on meeting your Easter goal! :celebrate:

Today's my official weigh-in day:
Mar 13 (last week): 210 lbs
Mar 20 (today): 208 lbs
Weight loss this week: -2 lbs

I met my Easter goal midweek this past week, so only 1 of those pounds lost will come off my Mother's Day goal ticker:
1 pound lost, 9 to go for this challenge! :cb:

peachcake 03-20-2008 11:49 AM

Today was my official weigh in, one pound down, 7 more to go by mother's day. I'm sure i can make it! 10 would be great but I know 8 is do-able

FB 03-21-2008 10:22 AM

Hello and good morning! Here I yam!

irishfairy 03-21-2008 10:23 PM

Well...anoter lb bites the dust lol... that leaves 15lbs to my mothers day goal..and 8lbs til my canadian idol goal!!! I put a belt on today that didnt' fit a month ago and now it fits 3 rings in :)

Horo 03-22-2008 01:47 AM

Hello, all... Glad to see the Mother Day's goal thread up. I'll be joining in for what will be my 3rd mini-goal on 3fc. :)

Unfortunately I'm just getting over a nasty cold that has lasted for the past week, and though I was normal as far as calories go, the things I ate weren't exactly "clean"(didn't feel like cooking at all) so I've got no head start like I did for the Easter goal. That considered, I'm going to be shooting for a mere 10 lbs this time.

Seeing as how my weight loss has seemed to slow down considerably, I'm going to add in a certain amount of exercise in to this goal. The weight loss I've had so far has been generally without much consistent exercise and I'd like to change that. So, in addition to 10 lbs, I'm going to be to get in a decent amount of exercise at the very least 3 times a week. Baby steps, baby steps...

::sending positive energy vibes for good luck to everyone with their goals!!::

LessEveryDay 03-22-2008 12:41 PM

My goal will be the magical 168. At 168 I will no longer be overweight, a place I haven't been in at least five years.

I'll also make it my goal to walk/hike/bicycle/whatever twice per week.

Tinky009 03-22-2008 01:34 PM

Jamsk8r- Great post!!!! I love these challenges!

I'm in! My goal for Mother's Day will be my favorite number again 9 lbs!

My goal is to stay within in calories, and exercise at least 4 days a week! :exercise:

:goodluck: Everyone!!! Swimsuit season is around the corner, and I saw a swimsuit that has my name all over it! LOL!

rabidrat 03-23-2008 01:35 PM

Jamsk8r! Ok I'm in. Starting at 174.5 my goal is 160 by Mother's Day. This time I need to stay away from Lazy Town and Cheaterville! :)

Daffy29 03-23-2008 03:22 PM

Even though today is not a regular weigh-in day for me, my body seemed to be telling me to go look. Sure enough, one pound gone! :carrot:

Mother's Day Goal: 10 lbs., 9 lbs to go! Thankfully, there is no Easter chocolate in this house! Here's wishing strength to all those who are having to fight that temptation this weekend...

Ti'an

RoyalAthena 03-23-2008 04:25 PM

OK, here goes. I will be 199 by Mother's Day! Setting this goal in writing is really motivating! I will workout 4-6 times a week 45-1hour at time! Everyone is doing so well, so far. Congrats! I have got to keep up with ya'll!!

jamsk8r 03-23-2008 04:28 PM

Peach, you are off to a running start...woohoo!

FB, good to see you here! Are you going for the big two-oh again, hotshot? :D ;)

Irish, you're a weight loss machine, as always!

Layri, I'm with you on the baby steps! I do best that way, too. What are you thinking about doing for exercise? Something fun, I hope!

LED, best of luck with your goal! :carrot:

Tinky, glad you could join us! I hear you on the swimsuit. I love swimming, but have hated wearing the swimsuit, because no matter what you put over it to try and hide it, well, you know. How great would it be to just go swimming without worrying about how you look in a suit? :cloud9:

Rat! Been wondering where you went!

I don't have any more weight loss to report yet, but I've started weight lifting this week. It's kicking my...everything! I had to quit skating 15 mins early on Friday night, after lifting on Thursday for the first time (with "real" weights, not milk jugs, lol), because there was NOTHING left in my legs. That is called, "skating to failure," right? ;) I did it again yesterday, but am not near as sore today. Hopefully, that's a good sign, because I know I was using enough weight and pushing my limits yesterday, too.

After the lifting, I ran 50 minutes. I'm seriously tempted to go for this 12K run that's coming up in June. It's a challenging run, with killer hills...that would be a good motivational challenge for me to train up for. It's a run/walk, so even though I wouldn't expect a good time, I probably wouldn't be last, either, which is always a bonus. If I could just run the distance, without having to walk (me?), man, that would be something! I hadn't planned to up my running distance, but after my 5K, I think I've got the running bug even worse than before. Maybe I'm doomed to be a freak of nature, because I think I could love the distance running and weight lifting at the same time, which isn't supposed to be a real champion combo, but I guess I'm just a rebel!

Okay, sorry, I'll shut up now. :blah: Keep those reports coming in, and let's do this thing!

Lizzyg 03-23-2008 05:35 PM

I'm new to the calorie counting board, but not 3fc :)

Anyway, I'd like to join this challenge too!

I have a mini goal right now to get down to 260, and I'm 8 lbs away from that. But maybe for this challenge, I'll add 5 lbs to that, and my goal will be 255. That will be 13 lbs, hopefully not to unrealistic. And to work out on a more regular basis - 3 times a week.

jamsk8r 03-23-2008 08:27 PM

Ti'an, we have easter chocolates, but I've got my own stash of dark chocolate and SF dove chocolates if I get a craving. Congrats on the 1 lb loss!

Athena, welcome! We have the same goal for this challenge...ONEderland, here we come! Go for it!

Lizzy, glad you made it over! Good luck! :carrot:

Bev 03-23-2008 10:56 PM

Den@ 03-24-2008 01:10 PM

The Easter challenge is over, and now time for me to start our new challenge. Here goes... Good Luck, everyone!
Hugs, Dena

jamsk8r 03-24-2008 04:57 PM

Bev, welcome and good luck! :carrot:

Tavinni 03-24-2008 05:25 PM

I'm in going for 16 lbs ... I know its a lot but hey why not go for it and see how close I get

M a g g i e 03-24-2008 10:12 PM

I'm with Tavinni! I want to lose 15-16 pounds this challenge. I got a new scale and WHOA do I weigh more than I knew!! That sucked. I'm now at 210. I'm guessing I started anywhere between 215-220 at the end of January...so here's to a better few weeks!

Good luck everyone!

Horo 03-25-2008 02:17 AM

Exercise, for the most part, is going to end up as a LOT of dog-walking. Not only do I love taking my dogs out, but the dogs benefit greatly too. :D But, when the weather is being cold and nasty (like today) I'm probably going to just clear a spot in my room and do some standard exercises - sit ups, jumping jacks, et cetera. And, finally, I'm going to learn how to belly dance. I certainly have enough belly for it, as I say. :D

Oh, what I came on this thread for! I'm here to report staying right on track for this week so far, and that I've got 1/3 minimum weekly exercises in. That, and I've dropped a pound. 1/10, 9 to go. Yay :df:

dgramie 03-25-2008 08:32 AM

I made my easter challenge with 2 pounds extra. SO i have a head start on my mothers day challenge. I need to loose just 13 more lbs.

findingfawn 03-25-2008 10:08 AM

Yay.. I'm new here but I want to join you all!!!! I want to set a goal of 16 pounds by Mother's Day, that will put me at 240, a number I haven't seen since I was pregnant with #2 (I have 3) in 2003!

Switzie6 03-25-2008 11:19 AM

After struggling and struggling to get on track...always saying I'll start again tomorrow...I am back on track as of yesterday. I'm sticking with a high goal of 20 lbs for Mother's Day, I figure at least the first 5 lbs or so is water weight and should be gone fast. But my current weight is 235 not 229 so 20 lbs will get me to 215.
Best of luck to everyone!
