only 3 weeks and a bit left guys!!!!!!! I am changing my goal...seems I do this alot lol. But since I gained last weekend I am gonna change my goal to 168 :)

jamsk8r 04-17-2008 03:33 PM

FB, congrats on the 2 lbs this week! :celebrate: :carrot:

Daffy, your dog is handsome...love those eyes! The smart ones are the hardest to live with, for sure...much more creative about getting into trouble, lol.

Babysteps, welcome! :hug: Your goal sounds very doable...good luck to you! :cb:

Irish, good luck with your adjusted goal!

My report: another pound down, 5 to go!

Switzie6 04-17-2008 03:54 PM

Trying a spinning class at the gym tonight for the first time. Wish me luck! Hopefully I'll be able to walk tomorrow. I'm trying to mix up my workouts because I got in a rut doing the same things over and over. I need to mix it up to keep things interesting and keep my body changing!
Will have an weight update tomorrow, not sure if there will be a change. I ate out a lot this week but made healthy choices and stayed within calories. Just worried the extra salt in all the food will keep me from losing.

didi123 04-18-2008 08:38 AM

Hey Switzie!!
I didn't realize we are the same height/weight!! Have fun in your spin class tonight..
me? I'm still trying to get a grip on things...auughhhh

Well, I don't think there's any way I'm going to make my original Mother's Day goal of 168. :( I hit a big plateau and it took me over three weeks to lose two pounds. To make my goal now, I'd have to lose eight pounds in the next three weeks. That'd be an average over two pounds per week! I seriously don't think that's going to happen! When I first started, I had an occasional week like that, but, even then, not three in a row!

I'm not giving up on losing weight and I'm still planning to get my exercise in. But, I've adjusted my Mother's Day goal to 171. I'll still have to average over one pound per week, but that's at least possible! :)

southern momma 04-18-2008 11:10 AM

I'm definetly in on this,
I was going to start this thread but
i didnt know if i could. Im really glad you stared this
I'm excited, my goal is 10lbs....This is my 1st challenge too.
~~~GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE~~~
Daffy29 04-18-2008 11:43 AM
Hi everyone!
Despite plateauing (is that a verb?) this week, I am going to stick to my original goal. 4 lbs is do-able in 3+ weeks. Besides, I looked back over my records for the past few days and found more refined white starchy carbs than there should be, so that may well be the reason. I had found these great low-cal cookies (Peek Frean's Cranberry Orange Oat Lifestyles) and was having a couple for dessert every night, but I think I will limit their consumption to once or twice a week.
Duster says thanks for the compliments and sends big slurpy kisses everyone's way.
irishfairy 04-19-2008 09:52 AM
southern momma 04-19-2008 12:37 PM
Hello, everyone. as you probably already know i had got my ear stapled
Well, I waighed myself this morning for the Just beachy challange
and i waighed in at 160. I am just in shock, I am just so
excited to see what happens from now until next Saturday.
I wanted to share that witheveryone..
~~~ GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL~~

Den@ 04-19-2008 12:47 PM

Congratulations, Southern Mama! :congrat:

Cheryl, congrats on another pound down! :bravo:

As for me, I'm still working at it. Counting cals and exercising everyday! I gained a few pounds after Easter, so now it's taking me forever to take those off, but I will. How is it that it is easy to gain and hard to lose? Last night we went out to dinner and I only ate protein and veggies. Yay! :yay:
Hugs, Dena :cool:

southern momma 04-20-2008 10:00 AM

last night for supper we went out for chinese and a buffet at that i at way to much ladies and felt like crap afterwords, bur it supposed to be nice here for a couple of days hopefully i'll walk it off. I probably gained a pound or two but the good thing about chinese it dont stick to you very long.

~~ word of advise "stay away from buffet's~~

hope everyone has a great day.

jamsk8r 04-20-2008 11:43 AM

Switzie, how'd your spinning class go? Did you like it? Are you crippled? ;) I liked the Crossfit workout, but man, my abs were killing me yesterday. Still feeling them today, but I think I'll be able to workout again...yeesh! I might have to hit the Crossfit Kids website and start there, lol!

Southern Momma, you are off to a great start! Congratulations, and good luck with your goal! I'm sure, just starting out, that you can hit 10 lbs by then. Watch your sodium, drink lots of water, and that will help get that initial water weight off. It's the sodium in the asian food that makes you gain like that, otherwise it's not bad for you, except it's so good that I always just want to keep eating past the point of reason, lol!

Daffy, I think you can make that goal in 3 weeks. I've gotten way too hooked on my homemade protein smoothies, which have way too many calories, but are so good! I need to lay off, though, because I don't think I'm working out THAT hard.

Irish, WTG on another pound down...you're a machine, baby! :flame:

Dena, I did not realize how close you are to your goal weight! Holy cow, you are doing awesome! :celebrate:

FB, I just realized that you changed your username. Lucky for me, you didn't change your avatar at the same time, or I would have been, "oh great, there's an 'FB' now...what am I going to call Fatbaby?" I'm a little slow on the uptake, but I get there eventually. Hmm...just like my jogging pace... ;)

Nothing to report on the scale here today, except that I was so sore yesterday, I took the day off, then forgot to drink ANY water, so I'm bloated up like a jellyfish with the water weight. It'll be four bottles of water for me today, and some kind of workout.

The skating rink session on Sunday nights has been kinda lame as far as the music goes, the last two weeks. They've got a new kid in the DJ booth, so I'm debating whether to (a) go to the rink and hope for better music this time (not likely), (b) get my skate workout at home, or (c) make up the lifting and running workouts I had to skip yesterday. Decisions, decisions...

I also need to do something with my dogs today. The past 2 days have been snow, rain and hail all day, but the sun is shining this morning, so they're due for a walk at least, or maybe something that will tire them out a little better.

FB 04-20-2008 12:25 PM

Ha, yep- I changed the username. Because firstly, I'm 31 and so not a baby, secondly I'm less fat and thirdly it was pretty negative. When I picked the name I more had my chubby little guy (who's now 4 and not so baby chubby anymore) in mind and all of my 'baby fat' from having him... but it seemed to translate to something different on screen, you know?

southern momma 04-20-2008 12:58 PM

Thank you JAMSK8R, for the pointers.
i'm soo glad i found you all :hug: I'll try
doing my part in helping everyone as much as i can

~~HOPE EVERYONE DOES GREAT ON LOSING~~
haa haa sounds funny saying that:D

Daffy29 04-21-2008 07:03 AM

:Morning, everyone!:wave:

I got lost in a (Canadian) genealogy website for most of the weekend, but made a lot of headway on my family tree, so it was worth it. We did some yardwork, collecting the 'spring harvest' courtesy of the resident canine. On the plus side, it's been sunny and dry here for a week (sorry, Cheryl, don't mean to rub it in!) so the clean-up was easy and odor-free! :carrot:

With one exception, I was very much OP this weekend...but the exception was Red Lobster, and very much OFF-programme! If the data I found is accurate, that one meal was just over 3,000 calories :dizzy: Won't be doing that again any time soon. So what happens Tuesday morning at the scales is a toss-up. I expected that meal to make it difficult to stay OP afterwards, but quite the reverse. I was barely hungry yesterday, so ate at the bottom end of my scale.

Once this Challenge is done, we should tally how much we lost in total. I will do my share from now 'til Mother's Day, it's just not right for me to leave the bulk of the heavy losing to the rest of you! I gotta say, though, everyone seems to be doing quite well! :D

FB 04-21-2008 02:30 PM

Totally-otally great idea!

Red Lobster can be EVIL. The last time I went I had a live lobster (no butter), which is quite low in calories. It was **** resisting those evil biscuits though.

Switzie6 04-21-2008 02:46 PM

So I'm half way to my goal, but that still leaves 10 lbs. Hopefully I'll at least get close.
I survived my spinning class. I wasn't sore right after but the next day a certain area was really sore! Dumb bike seat! I hear it takes a few times and then it stops hurting. I'm going to stick with it a few more times and see how it goes. I need make sure I keep varity in my workouts so I don't get bored.

Horo 04-21-2008 06:53 PM

Hey, everyone.. I realized that I haven't posted in a while so I'm here to report... my lack of anything to report. :p I've been retaining water for a while now, due to the fact that I'm going through every girl's favorite time of the month :dizzy: But, I should be safe to get on the scale on Wednesday. Hopefully, as far as a loss goes, I'll see at least something.. Though my weight loss has seemed to slow considerably. So I'm a bit afraid.

Oh, right, I DO have something to report - I have been getting active almost every day throughout this challenge.. especially recently, as the weather has been gorgeous outside. I hope this lasts for a while. :df:

Looks like you guys are doing well.. Keep up the good work.

fascinatingmom 04-21-2008 08:29 PM

i'd like to lose 10 lbs by mothers day!

Well, since mine is the only recent post with that info, the above appears to have been aimed in my general direction. I know that my BMR has shifted downwards 100 calories already for a 20-lb weight loss, so for, say, a 50-lb difference in weight, that would translate into 250 calories difference in BMR. I also forgot to mention that I do not count my non-starchy veggies in my calorie counts, and I eat 4 to 5 portions of those a day. I'm also post-menopause. If I'm exercising, I'm around 1700-1800 calories a day, or more, depending. If not, I work at a desk from home, so I keep it low.

It works for me. YMMV.

no not at all directed at you ......I was noticing this over several seperate boards and was just curious is all. Cuz I know for my body what works....I just can't imagine eating so low right now.....once I get to goal I will probably be there but there are days that I get so busy and forget to eat.....I've had a couple of those days where I get 1000-1200 in before I simply pass out LOL and my body just kinda does a melt down around 5pm LOL

I was just generally asking people how they did it....not anyone inparticular.

Thanks though for explaining how you do it! I find it interesting I learn something new each day and most of it from the girls here at 3FC!

DMPLS 04-21-2008 08:39 PM

BTW I have met my Mother's day goal of losing 8lbs and actually lost 2more!

Daffy29 04-22-2008 09:01 AM

Way to go DMPLS! :carrot: You're early!

And Layri, way to go on the keeping active! :bravo:

Well, despite the alimentary indiscretion, I was down a pound this morning...3 to go, and Mother's Day is what, two and a half weeks away? I should be right on target.

C'mon ladies, this is the last stretch! :dust:

southern momma 04-22-2008 08:49 PM

girls i need some motivation here to work out...
if some one could throw me some pointers on the best way
to get rid of the hips and thighs i would love it. i did
go walk for about 2 hours today though. but im stuck at 160

help me... please..:(

start 164
today 160 (4lbs lost)
mothers day goal 151

rabidrat 04-23-2008 09:46 AM

I gained 2 pounds! 30+ hours of driving on my vacation is what did me in.You need sugar and chips to stay awake right? ;) It would have been much worse if I had not walked so much at Disney World. Oh well, had a great time and I changed my goal to 5 pounds. I need to admit defeat to move on!

FB 04-23-2008 01:14 PM

Well- a pleasant surprise during an unpleasant monthly cycle. I normally gain water weight, but today I'm down a pound. That makes it all worthwhile- I tend to get discouraged around this time.

southern mama- I don't think spot reducing is possible. Check in one of the exercise forums. Overall, exercise will slim everything down considerably. Keep up the good work!

That's a lot of driving rat! I'd gain two pounds too. Glad you had fun!

The way I understand it, and I could be wrong, is that you can spot tone but can't spot fat reduce. You can tone particular muscles doing certain exercises but they won't help reduce the fat. You can't control where your body loses the fat, but it doesn't hurt to tone that muscle underneath for when you do lose the fat.

Horo 04-23-2008 05:07 PM

The scale showed me 176 today (After a week of water retention, bloating me back up to 180 for a while.. so FINALLY) which puts me at 8/10 lbs gone for Mother's Day, 2 left to go.

I'm gonna getcha, you two little buggers :devil:

Den@ 04-23-2008 05:58 PM

Southern Momma,
Keep exercising... that's what really helped my hips go down. I walk a lot. I bought a treadmill and that keeps me staying in shape. Although if I overeat for some irrational reason, my hips are the first thing that start to get heavy. As long as I eat right and exercise, I'm okay. Stay strong and good luck to you! :goodluck:

I've been staying within my calorie range and have exercised 32 minutes on the treadmill so far today. Hope to do an hour total.
Hugs, Dena :cool:

southern momma 04-24-2008 10:28 AM

Thank you all for the help.
i will keep all of the info you all give
me and figure something out that will
work out great for myself..:hug:

thanks again everyone.

jamsk8r 04-25-2008 11:50 AM

WTG on the weight loss this week, everybody! You're all doing great! :celebrate:

I took yesterday and the day before off exercising, because my left knee felt off. I think I got a little too zippy with the workout on Tuesday. The knee feels good today, so I'll go skating tonight, and see how it goes. Nothing to report on the scale yet, but I noticed Wednesday that my pants are a lot looser, so that's a good sign!

blueyedlvrgirl 04-25-2008 12:25 PM

I haven't dropped off the face of the Earth or anything...though this plateau sometimes makes me wish I would! ;) I am still stuck between 304 and 305, where I have been since Easter. I have tried increasing calories, increasing exercise, decreasing calories. I don't know. I ordered The New Rules of Lifting for Women, since I started really working out at the gym. I am hoping maybe this will shed some light on my situation. I can still make it into the 2's before Mother's Day if I get this straightened out soon!!! Wish me luck!

**Irish...you look amazing in the new pic!! Love the blonde!**

jamsk8r 04-25-2008 09:59 PM

Blue, I'm sorry to hear about you being stuck. I've been having similar results with the scale since March, and feel the same, like I could cross that hundred pound marker if I could just figure out how to get things moving again! I know, shouldn't let it be about the numbers, but it's a big milestone, and I can't help it! Sorry, no answers, just saying, "me too!" :hug:

dgramie 04-25-2008 10:10 PM

wow i havent been here in a while.I am still losing but i dont think i will make my motherdays goal.Its ok though i will keep trying. I am still losing but been under alot of stress lately. I have been on plan and exercisng . Tommorow is my weigh in day but TOM appeared finally.LOL

southern momma 04-27-2008 09:28 AM

ladies i've lost 2 more pounds:D

:carrot::carrot::carrot::carrot:

164 start
158 today (6 pounds lost)
151 goal

FB 04-27-2008 10:40 AM

Blue- hugs to you! You're doing the right thing, just sticking it out. I hope the book will answer questions. Stay strong!

_____________________________________

On the challenge front- I've lost a few more! I've been putting in some serious dog walking time and that seems to kick it up a notch. I had slowed down a bit after getting the flu (naturally) but my system seems back on track now. The worst part was the lack of energy, now I'm my normal hyper self. I know if I eat 100% clean and exercise every night that the goal may be in sight for me- or close. I have present incentive, if I make the Mother's Day goal, my husband is going to get me one of those retro Schwinn bikes with the 1950's chassis. I would love that to ride up to the office or run errands in style!

beliter 04-27-2008 08:52 PM

Hi,I'm new to this calorie count thing so I thought this mini goal would help me get started.
Since I'm starting a little late my goal is 5# by Mothers Day.

Horo 04-28-2008 09:39 PM

Lost another pound- I'm at 175 now, which puts me at 9/10 lbs lost for Mother's Day and just one left to go. Very doable!

I hope you're all doing well. :)

FB 04-28-2008 10:07 PM

Yeah and yeah Layri! So you got your parasol I presume? :)
Welcome beliter!

Horo 04-29-2008 01:57 AM

I'm ordering the parasol today... I can't wait to get it. :D

Switzie6 04-29-2008 08:20 AM

Scales not moving except up a little, sometimes I hate being a female! Stupid TOM!
