Hi everyone. I've been MIA, just busy lately.

Robin, thanks for sharing your weight loss shocker moments. Do you ever read Shape magazine? You'll need to submit your story to their "Success Story" column once you've gotten to your goal. I'm sure we can't all wait to see you ourselves! Saving the best for last I see .

I've been managing on less food lately. Finally got my body to be able to function without that starving feeling on a lot less..but it took about 8 months of cutting back to get there. Unfortunately, even when you eat less you fluctuate. Yesterday I only ate 1540 but the scale jumped back up from my new weight of 142.5 to 144.5. On the other hand, the calories from yesterday were almost all from "bad" stuff that I haven't been eating for a while: whole wheat bagel w/ lots of butter, slice of thin crust pizza, packet of Kashi oatmeal, and a pint of chicken fried rice. Too bad I ate that chinese food last night..probably retaining lots of water. I actually feel really bloated and gross. Today will be healthier food for sure. Just stinks when you're running around and didn't plan well.

The home elliptical is going great. I even did 25 minutes last night at 11:30pm! The night before I went on it after eating quite a heavy meal. So I'm working out at times I would NEVER consider going to the gym or outside for exercise. Sometimes its getting out of your house or over to the gym that's the hardest part of working out.

Haven't weight lifted in about 3 weeks or so. Over the past decade, I've tended to get tired of it after about 5 months, then I take a month or two off, then go back. I really NEED to get back there soon, hopefully tomorrow.

Stay slim ladies

good morning fellow calorie counters!

Mami, your home elliptical sounds just awesome. 11:30 at night. That's just great. I weigh myself every day. I only record on Mondays. Almost every single week I hit my new low on Monday only to go up by 2lbs by maybe Wednesday, then I drop those 2 lbs at one time by Friday and go down steadily towards Monday, with a new low. I don't quite get it, but I am used to it and no longer freak out when I see that 2 lb gain.

And it's funny you said that about the magazine. I saw a neighbor of mine the other day and that's exactly what she said to me. She said "I sure hope you took a lot of before pictures, because you've got to send them into magazines, with pics of your new self." I told her that's the plan. We shall see.

I love TALIPIA. for about 4 servings, I let soften about 1 TBSP of butter and add it about 2 -3 TBSP of flavored corn flake crumbs and mix it up. I lay the fish in a baking pan, sprinkle it with some salt, pepper, onion powder and lots of fresh garlic. Using a large lemon, I squeeze on some juice all over the fish and then I top it with the crumb mixture. I bake it at 350 degrees for about 30 mins. Very, very good.

Bobbo, I've never had a colonoscopy. I just recently had an endoscopy. But I hear it is not painful at all. You sleep through the whole thing. I hear the toughest part is the drink. Although I vaguely recall someone telling me that there are pills available now instead of the drink. That would be phenomenal. I must get one day in the near future. Good luck to you.

Allison, you mentioned that this is your birthday week and that you were going out for lunch on Wednesday so... I'm assuming today IS your birthday? Have a happy, happy birthday and a fantastic year ahead!!!!

Yesterday's calories about about 1300, not enough protein. Oh well.

Have a great day everyone!!!! Healthy and safe.

Good Morning Girls!
Tuesday's menu
Calories...1200

Fiber...59 grams
I can't eat my vitamins/herbal suppliments 7 days prior to my colonascopy, which is a blessing. The calcium pills I eat could choke a horse!
Fiber One with dehy/Fruit
3 slices Cinnamon French Toast with SF syrup.
Lunch: Zucchini Soup ~ Toasted Flat Out topped with SF/FF chocolate pudding & FF/SF Cool Whip.
Supper: Elk Meatloaf ~ Winter Squash ~ Dill pickles and Radishes (Odd huh!)
Snack: SF/FF Coconut pudding with C.W. and Fiber One. FF Milk
Allison... Forgive my memory but was it you that just purchased a new food scale? If so, let me know as I have some thought on it.
Rai... Awesome Fiber count!

Congratulations to all of you on your continued success. I am definitely going to get some more fiber into my diet.
I've been bragging about the added fiber I've been consuming for the last couple of weeks and it has speeded up my weight loss. Since I'm so close to goal my weight had slowed to 1/2 pound a week. With the higher fiber intake it's speeded up again, I'm down another pound this morning. Just be sure to drink lots of water if you increase your fiber.

Robin... Your recipe sounds delicious, It would also work well for chicken.
We're off to the fitness center, catch ya all tomorrow.
I enjoy reading everyone's post, have a good food choice day.

Tilapia~I just can't eat it. Not because it tastes bad, but we live by the Salton Sea and there are yearly (twice yearly this year) fish die-offs and the fish are all tilapia. Just the thought of it churns my stomach.

zenor~okay, I know where you live and it isn't close at all. Beautiful area, though. DH and I went through there once a few years ago.

Susan~I guess I'm losing virgin pounds also! I've been 160-165 for at least 20 years except for the 4-5 years that I lost and kept it off.

Calories were high yesterday due to the leftover lasagna for lunch, but that's gone now so no more worry! Today will be a challenge, going out to my favorite Mexican restaurant for dinner. Will choose the shrimp with veggies, though.

Ok I have a question that might have already been answered. How do you get extra fiber in your diet?? Is it through that Fiber Sprinkle Stuff that you can put in your water or on your food?? I am a VERY picky eater and can't think of anything that I like that has fiber in it. So I am thinking that I am going to get some of that Sprinkle whatever stuff and start trying to drink that? Any input would be great.
Thanks,
Mary

Goodmorning!

Yesterday's calories: 1434 Does anyone else find it scary that I'm always around the same number? I eat a variety of things and normally land around 1450-ish. Not that I'm complaining...

I went for my lunch time walk again and thankfully it has started to cool down a bit. Today it's supposed to cool down even more. Two days of walking down and three to go this week.

I like to fix most "white" fish fillets in a similar fashion. I bake them in foil packets as well. I vary the herbs and I add a little liquid to steam the fish (some favorites are lime juice, balsamic vinegar, or a splash of white wine or sherry.) Sometimes I'll add veggies too, so that it all steams together. Then I just add a grain and voila! Dinner is served. I also like to use cumin and lime juice (no veggies) and then I flake it and use it for fish tacos. Yum!

Allison--Good luck at your dinner tonight! Mexican food is one of my downfalls. I want to eat it all. I looked up where the Salton Sea is and you must have really hot summers. I'm curious though, I thought Tilapa came from the ocean, How do they get so far inland?

The only way I'll eat tilapia is broiled with mango, papaya, and cilantro. No butter, no oil, none of that. The calories are nil, the mango and papaya rock, and throw all that on the grill, neighbors will be knocking your door down to get to know you.

Yesterday's calories were 699 with 25% coming from fat. They had NO CHEESECAKE! What is up with that???

Went to the gym yesterday and did my legs first. Got on the treadmill and I was garbage. My quads were burning up. Burned a mere 200 calories, as opposed to my usual 700+, but today is a new day and I am NOT going to beat myself up over this.

Mamabanana, the Spanish had no famine. We've got thighs to prove it. I bet the "gain" you're seeing are merely muscles packed full of water and lactic acid. You never weigh yourself after a hard workout.

Jumped on the scale this morning and clocked in at 133.6. Didn't believe it, of course, so jumped on two hours later. 133.6! If I can get that number to hold for the next two days, then I'll know it's my true weight.

Yesterday, while showering for this hot date I had, I noticed my abs POPPING while in the shower! My goodness, what abs can do to one's state of mind! I was tickled pink. So anyway, I bought three pairs of Body by Victoria slacks TWO YEARS AGO in a Size 4 and they didn't fit. I didn't return them for a bigger size because that's the same as the fat saying "I'm here to stay". After my shower, and with my newfound confidence, I slipped into a pair thinking I'd have to be poured into them. AND THEY FIT! Beautifully, I might add. VS clothes are so curve-hugging, so I stood in front of the mirror and turned every angle I could to see if anything was bulging out. Tiny daughter (Size 2) comes up the stairs and says... Dang, Mom! You HAVE lost weight! Wowee for me, I thought! So she says, mom... you get wear that with something really sexy! *gulp* The pants are crimson red and she found a white, off-the-shoulder-very-sexy-made-for-me blouse and she tousled my hair just so. Strappy little sandals with my red toenails peeking out and my gold hoop earrings, red lipstick, and Latina was screaming out of every pore. But not tacky-from-the-Bronx Latina. We're talking Motherland Latina.

Ladies, this has been amazingly fun and wonderful and gratifying. And when life has been at its worst and lowest between freezing temperatures, hectic work schedules, crappy ex-boyfriends, and fighting nicotine addiction, it feels so DANG GOOD to know that I've stuck something through ALL OF IT and that I did for ME and ONLY ME... not for my parents, my children, my government, my man. Only me!

I have earned my self-esteem back and as a result, no one will ever be able to take it from me.

Rock on, ladies! This girl is heading out to the track!!!

;-)

Mary~I use benefiber if I need extra fiber in my diet. That stuff has no taste at all and you can mix it in just about anything (orange juice, coffee, cereal, yogurt, soup, or even sprinkle it on things like salad). But a lot of people use Fiber One Cereal and use it instead of croutons in a salad or put it on yogurt for the extra fiber they need.

The Salton Sea was once part of the ocean, you know billions of years ago. Now it is an inland salt sea. Very salty--like the Great Salt Lake in Utah (where I come from). Tilapia flourish in the Salton Sea. They also have areas around here where tilapia is farmed--obviously in salt water beds that are man made.

ME TOOO!! I weigh everyday and record on Mondays. At first I wanted to record on Fridays, but the Monday recordings help me stay good over the weekends.

These are my numbers for two weeks ago:
Sunday: 178 pounds
Monday: 177 pounds (RECORDED)
Tuesday: 177.5 Pounds
Wednesday: 176 pounds
Thursday: 175.5
Friday:175.5
Saturday: 177.5

These are numbers for last week:
Sunday:176
Monday:174 (RECORDED)
Tuesday:174
Wednesday:174.5
Thursday:173.5
Friday:172
Saturday:172

And these are my numbers for this week:
Sunday:172
Monday: 171 (RECORDED)
Tuesday: 171
Wednesday:171.5

Now, I'll admit that I'm a little sad about this 0.5 gain, but I know (hopefully) by Monday, I will have a new low. (I say hopefully, because I am will be going home to NY to visit my parents. I was supposed to be in a wedding, but it was cancelled).

Oh yeah, HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALLISON!!!!

I use wheat germ for fiber. And Allison, the date did go well. He was articulate, calm, intelligent, good-looking, a gem. Until he asked if I would come over tonight to meet his son! :-o

Unless you've got a brain tumor and three months to live, I see no need to rush anything.

It freaked me out because I just do not want to be pushed, smothered, cornered, but I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt.

Fiber: I eat Fiber One cereal - a lot. 14 gms per 1/2 cup. I eat it for breakfast, I sprinkle it on my salads in place of croutons, add a tbsp to yogurt. I know Bobbo adds it to applesauce. It's grreat stuff.

Berries, spinach, sweet potatoes, pears, oranges, cauliflower, beans, broccoli are loaded as well. Do a search on high fiber foods, they'll all come up for you. I don't eat any grains, but all the whole wheat stuff and brown rice has got a bunch as well.
