Good Morning! Tuesday's Journal: Calories...1,139 Fat...40% High I know but last night I made sesame chicken stir fry and the recipe called for 2 Tablespoons of Sesame oil. I only ate about 1/3 of it so I problably didn't consume that many fat calories and I really don't care! DH and I spent 40 minutes at the Fitness center. He got 40 minutes in, I got about 30min. I was screwing around with the T.V., trying to get it to work. Finally He yelled at me and said, "We're here to exercise, not watch T.V." I yelled back, I can't exercise without watching something. Duh, remember me who hates to exercise! Finally some sweet Samaritan came over and helped me out. She said that happens to # 1 T.V. and # 4 T.V. sometimes. Today I'm going to exercise at the opposite end of the Fitness center then Crabby DH. Sakua...You should try the Flat Outs, get the lower calories ones. Yesterday I cut one in wedges, baked in oven for a couple of minutes and used as chips for hummus and salsa. You can also bake them whole right on the oven rack until crips (2-3 min) and top with pizza sauce, green peppers, turkey pepperoni, FF mozzerella cheese, leftover veggies, etc. You can spray them with zero calorie spray, sprinkle cinnamon and splenda on them and bake for a slightly sweet treat. They make great roll-ups, scramble egg beaters with green pepper and crumbled up turkey bacon make a great breakfast. Julie...I've seen the kid wraps, I'll have to check them out today. Sometimes I'm just not hungry enough to eat the big ones. Webweevil... Peanut soup is delicious, I found a recipe for it in our local newspaper and modified it to be Calories friendly. Later today I'll scrounge up the recipe and post it. What calorie range do you work toward? Valerie Joy...Pulled lat. ?What's that mean? Can you do free weights sitting down? AbsoluteDiva...472 calories and 15% fat, Wow! I think shaking up our daily calories is just what we need sometimes to inch forward. Hope you see a loss! Mami...We had 2" of snow two days ago, I finally got out cross country skiing. Unfortunately it won't last long, we've had recording breaking warm temperatures. I think it has something to do with global warming. Normally in January we have subzero temps, with wind chills it can be 40 below. We have a heater in the chicken coop for anytime the temp goes into freezing mode. We have 6 golden laying hens and they are so sweet. Have a great Wednesday, I'll get back with the peanut soup for anyone interested. Bobbi
1626 for calories yesterday. The treadmill movie was Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall in "To Have and Have Not." I watched about 3/4 of it while walking along.
Mami, if you are hungry, then you are hungry. There's no use in fighting it. Don't beat yourself up over it. I could not function if I were hungry. I just couldn't. You're losing at a steady and healthy pace. Yes, you ARE gonna be HOT, HOT, HOT ......in no time at all!!!
Unfortunately I don't have a Wal-mart anywhere near me. Or a Krugers. I again went to another grocery store yesterday, Pathmark and NO LUCK. Oh well.
Yesterday was a crazy, out-of-control kind of a day for me. I ate completely 100% healthy and low-cal foods, but nevertheless, I picked all day long and never SAT DOWN to a normal lunch and dinner. I ATE EVERYTHING STANDING UP, It was a horrible, horrible feeling and I hated it. I AM SO GLAD YESTERDAY IS OVER!!!!! I ate chicken breast, spinach, carrots, broccoli, 1 tiny meatball, spaghetti squash, red peppers and mushrooms. Just basically went through the fridge eating the leftovers. Never even used a plate or a FORK. I'm sure I stayed within a decent calorie range, but I tell you, I'm not gonna even bother to figure it out.
Ok..I need to get back on the bandwagon and this looks like a good place to start! I used to calorie count and lost almost 30 lbs and then I went through a stressful few months and gained 1/2 of it back :-( I'm back on track now and I have a goal to loose 50lbs by my 7th wedding anniversary in July. I have a mini goal of 5lbs lost for this month and I'm hoping that by joining this board I can get some accountability, encouragement and help to stay on track! Thanks so much for listening!
I've been calorie counting off and on for a few months but have done it faithfully on Fitday since December 24th. It's kind of fun and I love to see all the reports for nutrition. I'm also trying to incorporate whole foods from the SuperFoodsRX book.
I haven't been exercising very regularly the past few weeks as I normally hike with my dog and we've had two blizzards here in the Denver area the past two weeks. I did brave the foot or so of snow with my dog today and it was fun. I ended up taking off my jacket, hat and gloves from the extra workout trapsing through the snow. We just moved to Colorado about a year ago after living in So.Cal. my whole life so this whole snow thing is new to me.
I belong to a gym right down the street and need to get my butt there! I also have a treadmill that is quite dusty.
I'd like to get pregnant with #2 this coming year (son is 9) and would like to get some of the weight off before so.
Yesterday's calories: 1350 just under
Today's calories: 1350
What calorie, fat, carb, protein ratio do most of you shoot for to lose weight? I know the U.S.RDA recommendation is 45-65%carbs, 20-35%fats, 10-35%proteins
I have a mini goal of 5lbs lost for this month and I'm hoping that by joining this board I can get some accountability, encouragement and help to stay on track! Thanks so much for listening!
Go, Angielynne! You can do it. You've already shown that with your success. 30 pounds is great.
Edited to add in a welcome for Charlene. Welcome! I don't really aim for a ratio. I just try to avoid really super starchy foods like potatoes or rice, and I try to limit high fat foods. Otherwise, I just eat what sounds appealing and limit my calories to somewhere between 1400 and 1800. I think we all have different strategies. Stay warm and don't get caught in a snowdrift.
My calories are 1445 for the day.
I was complaining last week about feeling awful. Yesterday was a pretty good day. Today was just blah.
Good Morning! Thursday's Journal: Calories...1.193 Fat...26% Lunch: 4 oz. Elk Burger...177 cal. Light Wheat Hamburger bun...80 cal. Dill relish...7 cal. Dijon mustard...0 cal. Salsa...5 cal. Peanut Soup...74 cal. (I looked yesterday for the recipe and couldn't remember where I put it, sorry. I'll post it when I run across it) Who was it that was going to post one meal a day with me? We were going to post breakfast one week, lunch the next and Dinner/Supper the next week. I think I've been on lunch too long, time to move on to Dinner/Supper starting Monday. I'd love to hear what you all eat, it would give me ideas for something new. Robin...Did you google the Flat Out site yet? Sitting down to eat should be everyone's priority, it helps so we don't graze. I sit down even for snacks, I like to savor every morsel. Soooooooooo Robin, how many calories did you consume during your "All Day Smorgasborg"? Maybe you'd be surprised if you didn't write it down, because it sounds like it was all healthy foods. Angie...I think calorie counting is the most accurate way to lose weigh and I've tried them all. AbsoluteDiva...1252 calories is great and 29% fat is remarkable since you had pizza! My fat goes higher than I want but I try to get 1 Tablespoon of Olive Oil in everyday because I eat mostly Fat Free foods. The O.O. adds 14 grams of fat onto my food log. I don't know what % that adds to my total but it also keeps my grandmotherly skin from drying out. Charlene...Fitday is fun and I like to check the nutrition out too! Sometimes I get a little carried away with it, now I just consentrate on the calories and fat %. If you're intrigued with the snow, try cross country skiing. It's fun, burns lots and lots of calories and we (DH) enjoy looking for critter prints in the snow. We live in the country and have a big woods across from us so we never know what kind of prints we'll see. We take "Charlie" our 2 year old English Setter with, he has his happy face on the whole time.
Catch ya later everyone, Bobbi P.S. I finally dropped that 1/2 to 1 pound that popped around like a yo-yo.
Welcome to Charlene!!! I also don't shoot for any particular number. I just try to eat mostly low-fat proteins, low carbs and tons and tons of veggies. Okay I just checked my Fitday for yesterday and it was 40/40/20 - protein/carbs/fat. But I'm sure it varies a bit from day to day.
Yes Bobbi, I did try to search for the Flat Out site, but no luck. Ummm as far as my all day food fest the other day, yeah I'm sure I didn't do terribly on the calories, it most certainly was healthy stuff. Thank G-d I keep only healthy stuff in the house. But like I said it was the feeling I didn't like, like ummm not sitting to eat - YUCK, I mean what the heck was that all about? It's not acceptable. But yesterday was back to normal . Sat for every meal and snack as well. And that's the way I'd like it to remain. I mean I'm just so much happier this way. So yesterday's calories were aabout 1050.
On an unrelated note while doing some produce shopping early this morning I ran into an acquaintance who I had seen 2 months earlier and at the time she mentioned my weightloss. Today she says to me "Wow, you're getting skinnier every time I see you. Did you have surgery?" Surgery? Ha. I just don't get it. Do people really think the only way to get a substantial amount of weight off is through the knife?!?!?! Are we the only one's who know the right way to take off weight??? Helloooo world eating healthy and moving thy body works, it really really works!!!
Have a great day every one!!!!!

Bobbi - it wasn't me who said I would post the meals with you, but I would love to anyway. I am always willing to share my meal plans for ideas. I don't update fitday (I use *********** which I just like 100x better), so writing them out on here is the only way to share them.
Charlene - I don't aim for ratios perse, but I do have ranges I like to stay in. I lift heavy and like to get more protein than most people probably would think of getting in a day. I aim for 104-194g of carbs and protein, and 20-45g of fat per day. I try to stay in the 1400-1500 calorie range for weight loss. I don't think there is really any "right" or "wrong" carb/fat/protein range to stay in, as shown my the many diets around that limit certain food groups and yes, people still lose weight on them. I'd just try to find what ranges feel best for you and stick to them.
Yesterday I bought a ton of Lean Cuisines. My store is selling them for 50% off! I usually keep around cans of soup for when I have to eat but have no time etc, but I prefer having actual food... So I was really excited to see some of the meals were on sale for only $1.18-1.55. I bought 6 of them, which also gave me a coupon for $1 off 8, so I will buy 8 more today or tomorrow. This will give me go to meals for probably about half a year, for way cheaper than I usually get them for. (Cans of soup are usually 1.50-1.98 each!) I'm glad something at least semi-healthy was on sale for once. It seems it's always pizza, chips, fatty ground beef (not the lean ones), etc.
CALORIES FOR YESTERDAY:
Calories in: 1433
Exercise: 45 minute upper body weights, 30 minutes high-impact aerobics
Robin, that is really quite rude of that woman, huh? She should have asked "How are you losing the weight!?" rather than assuming (out loud mind you) you've had surgery. Nothing necessarily wrong with surgery, but gosh, why assume??
Well, I suppose you're right. It certainly would have been more rude as far as I'm concerned if I did indeed have the surgery. But in her defense, I didn't tell you the whole converstation. As soon as she said "Did you have surgery?" She immediately followed it with "Ohhh, I'm sorry I shouldn't have asked that" I said, it's ok. She is quite overweight herself, and picture this we're in the PRODUCE asile. So when I tell her no, I didn't have surgery, ,she then asks me, then how?, as if there's a magic pill or something. So I tell, her the calories and the proteins, low carbs, veggies yada, yada. And we're standing front of the cauliflower. Which happens to be my favorite and I point to it and tell her I could not have done it without it. And she tells me "Oh, yeah I just got a good recipe with cauliflower, and breadcrumbs and .......... And I'm thinking why am I wasting my breath? She wants to add breadcrumbs and butter to a perfectly good VEGETABLE? Yeah, she was definitely looking for a quick fix. She wasn't interested in my boring, in her opinion, not mine, "diet".
Hi everyone,
I posted last month but in the craziness that the holidays are I didn't follow thru with the calorie counting. Well I started again on Jan 1. I have been under 1300 everyday, but want to be between 1200-1400. I am sure when I average it out for the week it will be ok.
Monday 1140 cal 10 min on the gazelle
Tuesday 1260 cal
Wednesday 975 cal
I need to work on my fitness. Today was my last day of physical therapy, which was really more just working out. So I am defienalty going to have to step it up.
Look forward to talking with everyone and getting to know everyone.
