Congratuations to jazzang for being the biggest loser this week and to our runners-up Muffentop, shoupfamily and weebleswobble. Good work, ladies. Tremendous weight loss there.

I went for a walk this morning in the drizzle, slush and cold wind and now wouldn't you know it, the sun is shining and it's lovely out there. Haha. That's how it goes.

Well, a new week and lots of possibilities abound. Let's all be as clean as we can in eating and exercising.

dream710 02-08-2010 11:59 AM

Echo- I'm the same way if I don't do my exercise right away I'll make excuses not to do it later.

Babygrant- You can add me to the list of those waiting for the Cotton Pony and eating everything insight.

Well I best hop in the shower, unfortunately I've got to work today. Everyone have a great day!

wow good on ya girl for losing 0.6lbs!! thats really great especially since TOM is coming

and
tell me about it!!!!!!!!!!!! i have absolutely no motivation to do anything. i just wanna sit on the couch and eat and eat and do nothing :p lol i have a little drill sergeant in my head kicking my butt to do stuff.

i just did last chance workout (biggest loser dvd) but i soooooooo didnt feel like working out but now that i've done it - i feel good that i did it.

but oh my god it took everything for me to stop procrastinating and just do it. i was fighting with myself haha. literally had like a little jillian michaels saying to me "i dont care! just do it!! shut up and go do the last chance workout, i dont care whether you feel like it or not"

haha i love it when she says in the workout "shut up and do your mountain climbers " lol

hahaha

okay thats workout 1 done, gonna have lunch and then study, and then ride my bike in the evening for workout 2. :?: if i dont then i'm just going to want to EAT EAT EAT (cause i cant eat if im exercising haha) and i have to stay within 1600 calories today! i just have to!! and for the rest of the week - 1600 calories only, i really want to have a loss for the next weigh in - this week is going to be POP regarding calories! :drill:

---

and way to go blue team!!! well done everyone who lost weight, and we won!! amazing
(i didnt contribute as had 0lb loss, but GO TEAM!!! so proud of my girls!) we are kicking butt this season eh!!!

dream710 - EXACTLY! i find my motivation windles down as the day progresses.

Totally agree with you there Isabella!! :)

Institches21 02-08-2010 01:09 PM

Great Job to our Losers {but I think you are all winners!!} Having a bit of a struggle this past week. Alot going on right now in my personal life, nothing bad, just new, and I hate change, so I will struggle and visit here, which is actually keeping me from slipping away, and back to my old ways of dealing with change and just life in general. Thank You all!!

Soon2BFitChick 02-08-2010 01:15 PM

Hi Blue ladies!! :cheer3:

Echo 02-08-2010 01:34 PM

institches, i'm with you on that. i am going to come to this thread more often this week as a means to stay on track.

What kind of fiber drink do you have/make??

shoupfamily 02-08-2010 01:56 PM

Hey Selina.... we did foster care and had 3 under 2 and 2 more a little older. So crazy!!! Way to go giving them the gift of stability!

it was a VERY late lunch, lol like at 5pm :p

i put 2 teaspoons of psyllium husks in half litre of water, and throw in some orange squash (or apple squash - ran out of orange squash :( ) with the orange squash kinda tastes like orange juice with bits hehe. :D

suprisingly, i'm not hungry, i'm drinking sips of water whilst i do test questions - its nearly 8.30pm. and last time i ate was 2 hours ago.

am aiming to be be done with the questions soon then jump on the bike at 9pm and exercise for an hour :( even though i dont want to and being a total brat

Doragone 02-08-2010 05:22 PM

Yay for all our B-losers!!! Still sick, doing what the TOM gals would like to do, sleeping, doing nothing, but not hungry at all. I'm down another 2 pounds, kinda worried about when the sickness is over . . . will I do a big relapse?

Welcome back scherif (sp?) Glad you had that talk with yourself, and got a little me time too - just the ticket. Glad you're here.

Its getting harder to breathe at times, and I can't sleep with my mouth open, but for some reason I sleep fine on the couch . . .so . . .here I go . . . Take care girls, love you.

Dora

Echo 02-08-2010 06:07 PM

thats really interesting that you can sleep fine on the couch. well important thing is to sleep wherever you do sleep best
--

just did my 2nd workout on the bike. i survived today, and ate within my 1500-1600 calorie range, 1 day down another gazzillian days to go lol. one step at a time eh :running:

good night girls, thanks for the support. :grouphug:

ars 02-08-2010 07:59 PM

Congrats to the blue team on another triumph! I never thought I'd be so glad to be part of a "losing" team!

My neck is feeling good today. I had to stop taking ibuprofen as my stomach started hurting. I'm going to try and bounce on my rebounder for a bit, if it doesn't hurt, of course.

I had the most wicked craving for chicken nuggets today. I picked up some of those Morningstar Chik'n Nuggets instead and had those for dinner. Really yum!

Do any of you ladies drink Slim Fast? I am having trouble eating all my calories on my high calorie zig zag days (never thought "having trouble eating all my calories" would come out of my mouth). The shakes are 190 calories, and I like that they contain some calcium, vitamins, and minerals too. Do you have a favorite flavor? I looked at the Carnation Instant Breakfast mixes too, but I'd rather not have to mix something up since I'd be at work and there is really no room for me to keep milk around to reconstitute a shake.

Hope everyone is having a good day!

Good going Chica! Sorry that I missed talking with you today, but I have been soooooooo busy lately. So I notice that you put orange squash in your psyllium. What the heck is that? Sounds delish:D

Congrats on doing your second workout, so hard to do.I love doing one workout, but a second one would require a tow to the club for me lol.I did workout today like a mad woman, I wanted a weightloss at my club tonight and well 2 and 1/2 pounds lost:carrot::carrot: My weighin should have been today here, I think I peed out a gallon of water :D today.

Anyways, glad that you are back on track, I am definitely back on. I have now lost almost 4 pounds the last 3 weeks at the club, and I am definitely gaining muscle as well as I am losing inches from my workouts.

I will be around Tuesday, I hope you will be chica:hug::hug:

babygrant 02-08-2010 09:25 PM

Today went down the ****ter. I was tired.....crampy....and angry about something really stupid so I ate a lot of chips. Not one or two....alot. I kicked myself in the butt afterwards, but what's done is done. Had a good dinner, and will skip my snack tonight.

Starting tommorow I'm going to eliminate all refined sugars. I find I'm craving more and more sugar...and I want to stop the cravings.

ars 02-08-2010 10:18 PM

@babygrant - Tomorrow will be better! Kudos for turning it around and having a good dinner and skipping your snack! A lot of people would have given up for the day, and you didn't, so be proud!

WOW!!!!!! 2 and half pounds is freaking AWESOME!! way to go!! and 4lbs in 3 weeks, is excellent. way to go!! you are kicking it !

funnily enough its the first workout that i REALLY struggle with , once i get that done then the 2nd one isnt too bad as its just riding a bike whilst watching a dvd. first one is the intense one.

i was flicking through jilliam michaels 30day shred book and decided to do wind sprints today, to shake things up abit. i havent done any running or sprinting for a long time, so that will be good for my body.

glad to hear your back on track too :broc: :carrot:

 fresh start today!!! don't worry we've all done it! chips are my kryptonite.
and like Ars said, good for you for doing damage control!

Ars- cool i have a rebounder too! aint it great!! i use it for all my plyometrics training and jumping jacks, to protect my knees etc.

wow i wish i had your problem of not being able to eat enough calories!
if you're finding it hard to hit your calories, why dont you opt for things like cheese, full fat milk?
what are your calorie zig zags? how many calories do you have to eat on high calories.

thinnerbyjuly 02-09-2010 09:07 AM

Hi everyone. Sorry to MIA. I had a fun busy last few days with friends and family. I thought very very hard about if I should drop out of the challenge or not. I LOVE the support and giving support. However the regular weighing is just stressing me out WAY to much. I feel very positive about what I'm doing etc until I get on that scale. I really think I need to weigh monthly or even LESS.

I don't see how I can really quite participate in the biggest loser challenge when I decided I am staying off the scale. UGH!!!!!!!!! I swore I wouldn't quit but that scale is too negative for me and I won't weigh in weekly anymore and let that number have any control over how I think I am progressing. Hope some of that made sense.

I wont add myself to the last chance or nutritional journals until I find out if i'm allowed to follow along without weekly weigh ins.

Do you have a hubby or friend who would log into 3 fat chicks for you and edit your weight and then us team members will just promise not to mention your weight on the chat, and you'd have to promise yourself not to peek at the weigh in thread? I'm thinking really really really hard this morning because I don't want you to quit. :(

Mercy, this is what wikipedia says

Quote:

Squash (also commonly known as cordial in Australia) is a sweetened or unsweetened fruit-based concentrate which is mixed with a liquid, most commonly water or seltzer, before drinking.[1][2] It is also the name of the resulting drink.

Squash and cordial are common in the United Kingdom, Pakistan, Ireland, India, Scandinavia, South Africa, Kenya, Australia, Israel, New Zealand and Hong Kong, and have a large market share in competition with fruit juices and soft drinks. Typically, squash is created by mixing one part concentrate with four or five parts water (depending on concentration and personal taste) directly into a glass or jug.

Manufacturers of squash include Britvic under the Robinsons, Indian manufacturer Hamdard under the name of Rooh Afza and MiWadi brands, Nichols (under the Vimto brand), GlaxoSmithKline (under the Ribena brand) and Coca-Cola (under the Kia-Ora brand). Australian brands include Cottees, Bickford's, P&N Beverages and Golden Circle cordials. Indian brands include Kissan and Rasna. In Israel, fruit squashes are produced by such companies as Assis and Primor.
LOL, I was thinking of a winter squash or something with orange flesh and I though.....DARN that sounds disgusting!!!!! Buf if it is what the wikipedia article states, then I understand.

Mercy03 02-09-2010 10:39 AM

Hmm never seen anything like that in Canada.

The psyllium husks make things thick right? I wonder how much to add?

Nope don't think dh would do that because he thinks the worst thing I ever did was buy a scale. Thank you so much for brain storming though :) I'm going to ask in the ?'s thread if I can still participate in the chat.

Yep, it's also called Metamucil by it's branded name. If you let it sit for a minute, it thickens to a point where you have to add more water to get it down. They put a scoop in the product so 1 scoop per 1 glass of water.I use the orange flavor, so adding the bits would make it like OJ.

And I assume calorie wise its pretty low?

retiredone 02-09-2010 11:27 AM

Thinnerbyjuly, I don't know if this would be a "legal" strategy but couldn't you just put the same weight in each week and then when you do weigh in for real put that number in for the week you do weigh in? So it would look like this:

February 14: 187
February 21: 187
February 28: 187
March: 6: 184

Just a thought.

Slushy, wet and mild today. Not great for walking but walk I did.

Babygrant: I have psyllium husk that I bought at the Superstore health section. It has 1 calorie per teaspoon and 2 g of fiber.

Have a good on plan day, blue ladies.

Yes, it's 45 cal per serving 5 grams of fiber. Different than retires post so I suppose it depends on what brand you buy. I like it because it keeps things moving lol and high in fiber for relatively low cals. It fills me up for a long time, like oatmeal does.

I am using it twice a day now for the last 3 weeks, and I don't know if it is a coincidence or not, but the weight has been coming off since then.

ohh lol sorry haha

orange squash is Concentrated high juice orange drink. which you then dilute with water. over here we get it with like 50% fruit juice.
Quote:

high juice orange squash is made from more fruit for more of the real fruit taste.
This 50% real fruit squash is free from artificial colours and sweeteners. Contains both whole orange fruit and orange juice from concentrate.
i add it to my fibre, which makes it taste better. :D

lol thanks for answering the question Mercy had! hahaha thats so funny, about the misunderstanding lol!!

yah thats right they do. i personally put 2 teaspoons of it in half litre of water and then add my orange squash to make it taste nice. leave it for 10 minutes, give it another stir so it all mixes up, and then drink it slowly through a straw whilst i'm watching telly or something. and then if you like you can drink a small cup of just plain water afterwards, but because its so diluted i dont feel the need to.

Echo 02-09-2010 12:38 PM

thinner i totally understand your dilema. i'm sure you can still stick around for support and log in your nutrition and exercise, Angela has said that in the past to other members, but your weekly weight loss wont contribute to the teams overall loss if you dont log in your weekly weights, but you can still use the support :D.

Thanks Echo:hug: Tesco is definitely a UK brand and we have a grocery store here that specializes in UK products due to the proximity of Disney. It's convenient for me as I happen to work in the cash office there:D

The psyllium husk is just the husk and looks like a very light, very fine wheat germ. You sprinkle it in juice, cereal, yogurt, etc. It is a different from Metamucil as it is has no other ingredients. You have to increase your water intake when you use it in anything like cereal.
