Hey ladies... just a quick update regarding what will happen in-between challenges. I know there have been questions and hopes of some sort of accountability over the holidays. So we have been trying to come up with something to satisfy everyone.. so this is what we have come up with.. I hope everyone will be happy with the decision.

Our current challenge will end on December 14th. We will then create a combined open thread to all new and returning challengers called Bridging the Gap, to encourage and support one another until the new Winter/Spring teams will be announced, whereupon we will then create a pre-challenge thread for each team until the official start date of January 5th.
During the Bridging the Gap challenge, we will have a weekly weigh-in thread and challenge for any and all who want/need the accountability, especially over Christmas. There is no requirement to participate in the weigh-ins or challenge during this time, it will strictly be there as a support system for all of us. :)

I hope everyone is having a great Monday and don't forget to weigh in!! I have most all weights in, there are 11 team mates left to weigh in for this week. Come on ladies.. We are all here for one another!!!! :D

retiredone 11-30-2009 10:47 PM

I really like that idea for the down time between challenges. Angela so happy to see you've taken over the reigns early.

Institches21 12-01-2009 12:11 AM

:welcome3: Angela, thank you for taking over earlier than planned.

G'morning Ladies! Results are up...I hope I have gotten the posting for the weigh in done properly.. lol :p

We have unfortunately lost 3 more members this week ... Bev, Narnia99, and IdealMuse have all neglected to weigh in on time this week and unfortunately have no more freebies available to them. Ladies, just want you to now that you can still weigh in each week for the remainder of the challenge please do so, it won't be counted towards the final tally but the main and most important goal here is that we are here to support one another!

K .. Its morning and we all need to get our blood moving first thing... so for all of you signing in today... stand up...right now where you are... 10 jumping jacks.. yes I am serious.... UP, Up, Up!!! K.. now 5 Squats... there.. noww I hope you are smiling and feel a little more energized... :D :carrot:

Well ladies I am off to work for another day (another dollar).. I hope everyone has a great and productive Tuesday..

maryshady 12-01-2009 06:57 AM

Had a great day yesterday eating wise. Most of my family is sick. dd in college has flu since Friday think it might be turning into bronchitis too. My ds & his fiancee both have flu, sinus infections, & bronchitis and now my granddaughter is running a fever so they are taking her to dr. today. Thankfully she had a flu shot so hers should be mild. Hoping we either are blessed and don't get sick or get in now cause vacation is two weeks away and def don't want to be sick for that. Scale was down another lb. today. Hoping to get back to 174's before next weigh in. Can''t believe I did it to myself again. Promising to myself it will be the last time I regain weight I have already lost! :(

Angela-thank you for taking over the team.:welcome2: Can't wait to get to know you!!

Isabella-Congrats on being BL! You rock!!!

Congrats to all the runners up.

Have a POP day!!!

dream710 12-01-2009 09:18 AM

Hey team! Woohoo we have a new leader! Thanks Angela for taking on the leader role, I'm excited to see whats to come! I think the Bridging the Gap sounds great, I like the idea of having continued weigh ins and challenges.

Retire-Congrats on being the biggest loser! Great job on your 6k.

Mary-Hope you stay well, and your family gets to feeling better. How was your black friday?

Echo-thanks for the second go round of the POP Challenge.

I had to use my last freebie this last week, lack of motivation, exercise, and poor eating lead me to a 3.5lb gain. :( I did better eating yesterday, but still no exercise. Its sad I know what I need to do, but I keep talking myself out of it. Why is it that we sabatoge ourselves? GRRR! Guess what I need is a good ole butt kickin'.

retiredone 12-01-2009 12:27 PM

Congratulations on winning the runners-up places Cape Breton Chick, Trekkiegirl and Echo. WELL DONE!!!

I modestly concede to winning TBL position and thank you for your congrats, people. (Blushing)

What a rainy day today, No 6k walk today. I'll be on the bike tonight watching the Biggest Loser to get in my exercise and of course I did my 10 jumping jacks and 5 squats as commanded by our leader, Angela. :D

I have to run and practice a Christmas carol I'm singing in church this weekend and then I'm going to bake a million cookies for DIL to take to the seniors home on the weekend.

I'll be back. I'll let you know if I ate any cookies. I'm promising everyone that I will not.

Bigmid 12-01-2009 12:31 PM

Congratulations to this week biggest losers - retiredone, Cape Breton Chick, Trekkiegirl and Echo. WTG!!!!

Cape Breton Chick - once again thank you for taking on the role of leader for the Blue Team.....that said I have to say my original thought after reading you post of the 10 jumping jacks was "whatever" but then I did put down the laptop, get off my butt and do 30 jj and 10 squats. So well done on the up up up. It worked.

I'm glad for a new month and hope for better losses this month. I seem somewhat consistant in losses but the percentages are not that great. Now that I am feeling better I need to start exercising again as it will help my body and my mind.

I'm glad for the in between challange this will really help with accountability.

Diva 12-01-2009 01:35 PM

Good afternoon ladies! Angela, I am sooooooooo happy you've decided to take over & lead this team! It remotivates me to know someone cares and we can get this going again! Not that it ever stopped, but for me, for a couple of weeks, I simply lost motivation and didn't care anymore. So a BIG FAT JUICY THANK YOU for doing this!!!!

Anyhoo, Still packing but I did keep out 1 little video tape the WATP 2 miles so I can get some "formal" sort of exercise in everyday. My Blood sugar was 303 this morning so I'ma bit freaked out byu this, so I got up did my WATP, cleaned the house a little abd downed some water, so I am about to check it again after this....Cross your fingers...I really am not one to run to the ER every time this happens...Actually, I never have.

Y'all have a great OP day!
HUGS.

expatter 12-01-2009 03:05 PM

Wow! I haven't had much time in the last month to post or read the chat thread and didn't realize how many people we'd lost! I was feeling guilty that I was only weighing in and now I feel better that I made myself stick to that.

Angela, thank you for taking over as our team leader. This time of year is busy for everyone and taking on extra responsibility is a very generous thing to do!!

Well, it seems like my head is finally in the right place and I've already been doing better with both my diet and exercise than I have been in a long time. DH has been/will be traveling this week so I can focus solely on myself and that helps a lot -- more salads, less things with melted cheese.

I hope everyone has a great day and that there aren't Christmas goodies lurking behind every corner.

Morning ladies...! I am just on my way out to work, but wanted to pop in and wish everybody a great day! And just to add that we are all here for you if you have a bad day.. pop in and post. :D
Let's get some conversation going here...
QOT It is December 2nd and I knoww here the weather is getting miserable..I want to know what everyone has planned as alternates to exercise if you can't get outside or even travel to the gym to work out during the nasty cold months of winter, especially during crunch time leading up to the holidays...??

I do most of my working out at home anyway. I have a treadmill, elliptical(which I hate!), and a bowflex. I also love to do BL and Turbo Jam dvd's. You would think with all this equipment I would be buff!

Has anyone gotten the new BL workout's yet? I think I saw a last chance wo one. I would love to know if that one is worth it to buy. I think I will try to start back tonite with a slow (3 mph) walk on treadmill. My hip only hurts now when I am in a certain position. Here's hoping that sciatic doesn't come back. Watching them run that marathon last night made me miss my running so much! I always combined walking & running and couldn't imagine running 5 miles let alone 26 but I do love my 2-5 min interval runs makes me feel strong. kwim?

Had a great day eating wise yesterday. The scale was back down to 177 this morning. Thought it would drop faster but oh well at least its going back down. I have a plan for this weekend so I don't screw up this weeks work. My dh is locking me in the closet:lol: No I have a menu planned and everything. No more broken self promises.

Hope everyone has a great POP day!!

May I ask what you hate about the elliptical? I've been thinking about getting one, because I love the mindlessness of getting on the treadmill, but I'm concerned about what it can do to your joints, and so far I have only heard praise for the elliptical. I would really appreciate an opposing point of view.

Hey gals! Sorry I've been MIA. Work has been insane and so has home. Lots of family drama, kid drama, work drama. Needless to say I've barely had time to sleep.

I accidentally missed the weigh in this week. Monday came and went before I could realize. Congrats to our winners for last week!

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! Ours was nice (after the 5 hours of cooking, and 4 hour drive to MIL's).

I promise to catch up more later. Love the Purple team thing for the in between time!

Big  to all. I've missed you!!!!

Cape Breton Chick 12-02-2009 12:41 PM

Aghhh... lol this lunch break could not come soon enough.. It has been a busy morning! Just popping in for a second to say hey.
maryshady, I have ordered the Last Chance Workout dvd.. am just waiting for it to arrive. It is with Jillian and the other one, the Jump Start one is with Bob. I am looking forward to trying the last chance workout one, so as soon a s it arrives I will definately let you know what I think!
I too do most of my workouts at home.. BL and Turbo jam dvds, Jillian Michaels Dvds as well are awesome! I do enjoy running but have not been doing it lately and now well.. with the cold I can not see it happening till sprinig maybe lol but I am determined to do my videos no less then 30 - 60minutes a day throughout the winter. I have P90X but am waiting until I lose the majority of the weight and need something to give me the last boost through it all and to tone up nice at the end.. lol haha
Okay ladies..I will be back this evening! :grouphug:

I don't like it because it feels like work and I don't mean in a good way. I am bored to death on it and it feels like an hour has gone by when its only been 10 mins. I love the treadmill and get so much satisfaction out of my workouts on it, same goes for the workout dvd's. I guess its just a matter of preference. I know people who have always ran and couldn't anymore cause of their knees who switched to the elliptical and love it. I bought a fairly expensive one (around $2000) so it's def not the quality. I just don't enjoy the time spent on it. HTH

Thanks Angela! you're so great! well here's me TOTALLY taking advantage of your invitation

you all have been warned !! (ps sorry this is a repeat post Angela from our thread ;) couldnt be bothered to type it out in another way, really wanted to share it with my blue team-mates! )

--------

so i have abit of a strange confession today. so bear with me !

so i met up with an old friend of mine that i hadnt seen for about 4 months. so i meet up with him for lunch and he comments on my weight loss, i'm wearing a big coat, so all he can see is my face. and he says , wow you're looking really healthy , your face i mean. and said i'm looking good healthy and vibrant or something maybe glowing, i cant remember his exact words, but all was positive - he then said - it looks like you've lost weight. so all that fitness exercising is doing you good (i had told him on the phone that i was getting into exercise a couple of months ago

and i smiled and said, "why yes i have, thank you" and then he continues to go on about it and then said, "well its almost like unhealthy skinny though" or something to that effect. which really annoyed me inside but i tried not to show it. and i said, what do you mean? i'm not an unhealthy weight, i still gota few pounds to go! so i just changed the topic.

but then it was really bothering me. and so at lunch i brought it up again, and i asked him straight up and said " what did you mean i look unhealthy ? face wise? i look unhealthy? and then he backtracked and said, no no not unhealthy, and i could tell he wasnt sure how to explain it and then he started saying " well i dont want to say..erm like those models" and i said, " so i look unhealthy in the face"? and then he said, no no you dont. your face has slimmed down and your cheeks...

i cant remember his exact words, and i was like, oh yah, but i prefer my face like that, and not the chubby one , and this was the way my face was like 4 or 5 years ago, before you knew me, so maybe cause you havent seen me in a while it seems like a drastic change for you.

anyways i felt abit better about it. cause i was like, why would he say i am unhealthily skinny. far from it! i would know. i do not want to have a skinny gaunt face at all. i really like my face now. i dont want it to slim down anymore. so i make sure i eat my BMR calories, and i am just exercising to lose my tummy fat and tone up and slim down abit more. and to lose my chubbyness on my back and especially my tummy area.

i am afraid though what if my face slims down more and i wont know it, or i wont know when to stop losing weight. that does worry me abit, which probably sounds ridiculous.

anyways so cut to the end of the story. he then sends me a text in the evening. and talks about his football match and said, hope you enjoyed your film (i went with my best friend) and then he wrote "it was good to catch up. i have to admit you were looking extra pretty. enjoy the film".

why would he say that ? its like one minute he's saying unhealthy skinny. weird! i dont get it lol.

anyways made me feel abit paranoid and i was looking in the mirror and thinking, but for the first time in my life, i actually like my face now, and thats the first time i've said that in my whole life. i've been sooooo critical of my looks and insecure my whole life. but now i feel more confident and happy. i wasnt happy when my face was all chubby and podgy. i like the new me

i dunno why his comment bothered me. but the compliment made up for it though (albeit only by a tiny bit! lol). but its so not like him to give compliments in the first place!, he hardly ever ever gives me compliments! so rare like once a blue moon lol.

anyways i just wanted to share. i told my best friend about it, and she said, boys dont know what they are saying half of the time lol. she's probably right. she told me to just ignore him and he probably didnt even know himself what he was saying!

but its like, even amongst the positive comments, we always tend to just focus on the one negative comment.

anyways thanks for listening

i personally still have a weight loss journey ahead of me. i want to lose my chubby tummy and slim down. but i dont want it to effect my face. so if i continue to eat my BMR calories and just workout hard. that should be okay right? im so afraid of the "gaunt" face look. but thats when you're really skinny though right? i've promised myself i will stop when i hit 140 and then just work on maintaining it. and then just live between 140-145.

its funny, but my friend who's my height , weighed once at 125lbs! i was like shocked and shes now 134lbs but not happy with her body. and i told her, i weigh 154 as of this morning and she looked at me and she said but you look slim! and you look really good. she complimented me on my face and my body which made me feel good. and i said, but i dont get it, i weigh more than you. and she said - maybe you have more lean muscle than me, thats why looking at you you look slimmer but you weigh more. i didnt think of that. but its an interesting theory. i dont feel like i've put on muscle, but its probably like lean muscle that jillian is always talking about.

anyways i feel better talking about it ! thanks for reading, i appreciate it :grouphug:

Cape Breton Chick 12-02-2009 07:36 PM

Echo.... I have a theroy after reading abotu your day... and i may be way off but then again.. I want to share my lil suspicion here. I think your friend may have really thought you to be very attractive in all your new-you-ness and once he complimented you thought O! well maybe that was too forward and being a man came up with a really bad "save" thinking then that once he made a negative-ish comment you wouldnt think anything of his previous compliment if it had been infact too forward and be offended or shocked or whatever men think..lol but then when you questioned him on why he thought that he had no answer cause I mean whats he gonna say.. I wwas trying to cover up that I think you are super cute now and didnt want to appear inappropriate? no. Men do not think that quick when it comes to women n being on the spot lol haha. SO then he felt bad for making you feel bad, so decided to jsut text his real feelings on the subject so then its done. You know? Just a thought... lol :)
But ethier way.. do not let it get you down.. you lookk incredible and about the lean muscle mass .. that makes ALOT OF SENSE. People ask me all the time how much I have lost and when I say 17.. they say really thats it? ..Because it looks liek so much more..
Now I have lost 17 before n no one noticed.. this time i exercised and yea.. ppl are noticing the heck out of it! lol haha
And do not stress on your face looking gaunt.. It does not.. you look radiant.. and I mean that sincerely from my heart.. and I think you will know when when is when... you have this whole weight loss thing down to the science it actually is... Please do not stress.. you are doing phenominal.. keep on going in the exact direction as you have been!

Please do not stress.. you are doing phenominal.. keep on going in the exact direction as you have been!

Hi ya all. I'm dead tired making cookies and Christmas fruit cake. But that's behind me now (until tomorrow, lol). And I didn't eat any cookies. I wanted one so badly but I knew I could wait until my dessert day on Saturday. After all it's not the only cookie in the world and not my last chance of ever eating one.

Echo, now that story of yours made me curious about your face so I took a look at your profile picture and you look so happy and sweet. You definitely do not have a gaunt face. It looks healthy and glowing. No wonder he texted you. And men really don't think things through all the time and Angela's theory may hold some significant water.

QOTD
: I usually walk on nice days but once the ice builds up on the roads and side walks I'm finished with walking. I've bought tracks to go on my sneakers or boots but I still won't walk on hard packed ice. I've had one to many side walks come up and hit me in the head. So on nasty days, ice filled road days I take to my stationary bike. I also have a circuit routine that I do. I found the exercises in a magazine a few years ago. It was based on the "Curves" program. I made a tape telling me when to change stations and have music playing. It's a good thing I still have a tape deck, hahaha. So I have my own workout tape that I do. It takes about 45 minutes to complete and gives me a good sweaty time of it if I put forth any kind of effort at all.

Anyways, I'm off to bed. Have a good one. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Morning Ladies!! Had another great day yesterday. Scale is continuing downward (175.8) today. Should be back to where I was by Monday. Didn't workout last night. Fell asleep at 7:30 but I really needed to catch up. Felt really good this morning when I woke up. We have parent/teacher conferences today so I have to go back to work tonite so no workout tonite. My plan now is to start Sat. morning.

Echo-You look amazing. I agree with Angela mostly and with you. He has never seen you at this weight so he is used to your chubby face. Seeing you with out it was probably a shock for him. Look at it as a compliment. If you hadn't started this and put all that hard work in he might have asked "have you gained weight". Pat yourself on the back for all your hard work and rejoice in people noticing it;)

Retired-My Lord lady you have willpower. I love your philosophy (not the only cookie in the world) and I am stealing it! lol!!! I am going to work on that frame of thinking. :D

:grouphug:

I love working out to the dvd's. I have Jillians 30ds and have gotten to the second set have never braved going to part three! lol! I have Jillians frontside & backside but have never tried it. Love turbo jam for the mere fact of the amount of cals you burn. In 45 mins I can burn 550 cals.
I have tried power90 and it is kinda monotonous but you def feel it the next day. Do love the ab workout on power 90.

....such an awesome catchphrase

well thanks girls! you're the best, i'm feeling so much better about the whole thing and i'm rearing to go!
i have 2 weeks to go till my cousin arrives, and i'm abit scared that i will gain weight... so that bridge the gap challenge will come in useful. you know how it is you tend to eat more with company and relax abit but luckily she is watching her weight too, so we can encourage each other that just cause we're on holiday doesnt mean we go nuts. also it wil be nice cause i can go play badminton with her, i thought about organising a few fun activities, maybe tennis aswell. but yeh i'm really going to have to watch what i eat, cause i get so easily tempted to eat more or eat naughty things when i'm in company. so i bought myself a little notepad where i can keep track of my calories, even when i'm not near my computer.

when does bridge the gap challenge purple team officially start? will the first unofficial weigh in be 21st dec?
