Hey Ladies, Sorry I didn't get a chance to pop in this morning, I overslept, through my alarm and all. I never do that I am usually up between 530 and 630am... I opened my eyes and my clock read 7:14.. I have to be at work to start at 8:00am.. I jumped up pretty quick..lol
I have done really well so far today in regards to eating.. I had breakfast and a small snack.. so I am back on the "mend" as far as getting in my meals. Mary, I really enjoy the Turbo Jam videos as well.. She really gets you moving! I wish I had a heart rate monitor to track my burned calories ~... I have a (i think i still do anyway...) pedometer that used to track my calories burned.. might have to find a battery for it... IF I can find it..lol Echo, Turbo jam is like a dancy-ish kickboxing/marshal arts.. it is really effective and really fun and upbeat ..here is a link to the site for it, down near the bottom there is a lil video you can watch, and you can look it up on you tube as well. http://www.beachbody.com/product/fit...mum_results.do Isabella..you rawk! I agree.. I am taking on that mentality as well.. reading what you wrote about your cookie baking really helped reinforced my motivation! thank you! Alright ladies.. I will be back this evening.. I hope everyone is having a great day! |
Hi everyone!! I'm 210.0. Down from 229 in Sept. Still can't taste food from having this tonsil surgery. I looked online and lots of ppl still can't taste normally and sweets taste awful. Told my husband too bad this couldn't be a weight loss surgery. I have no desire to eat junk at all. Only fruits, veggies, milk, etc. It's so weird. So lost about 20 lbs since end of Sept. Yay! But I'm a little depressed because I can't enjoy food. Haven't since Sept. 23. I just think about getting it into my stomach so it'll stop growling and that's it. Once it stops and I feel better, I stop eating. No matter what food it is. It really has made me see how people who don't crave sweets, etc. must live daily. They eat what they think their body needs. I also heard that some ppl are Super Tasters? Dr Oz or someone said some of us taste food more strongly? Now I must be the opposite. It's like thinking you r drinking Coke but then it's really half water and half generic cola. Just no taste and a hint of yuk taste. Wish me luck that my taste comes back enough to enjoy a meal but not enough that I'm a Super Taster again! LOL!!!
Otherwise, I guess I'm glad this happened. I'll grieve for my tastebuds and then move on. At least I'll end up pretty thin. If it stays this way because I can't hardly smell either since they took out my adenoids too. So when other ppl eat it doesn't bother me like when I'm normal and dieting. I just hate I can't taste because when I cook for my family I can't make sure it tastes right. So that is not good. But I am stuck with this for now anyway. Some ppl said it took 2 yrs to get their taste back but then another guy said, What if they just got used to it!... We may never get it back!! Scary thought. Talk to you all soon, when I get some time!! I miss you guys!! Oh and I posted my weight just for fun. Started at 229 and I'm 210 now. So down 67 total from my heaviest. And I had no idea this surgery could even affect tasting much less take it away. Isn't that crazy?? All I was hoping really was to lose down to 202 or so by March next year! LOL. So guess I'll make it. :) Bye for now!! Hugs, Selina  |
Selina-I remember when my sis had her stomach stapled. She was really angry for the first 4 months or so cause she couldn't eat the things she used to love. She could still taste them but they would make her so sick. She was over 300 lbs when she had it done and now some 8 years later her weight holds at about 160. When she started to lose the weight and get her life back she eventually missed those foods less and less. So I guess she just got used to not being able to eat those foods and since she was so happy with her new health and body it didn't matter anymore. kwim?
I know its not exactly the same but count it as a blessing for now and pray for some taste back. My son had his tonsils out at 19 was very sick for about 3 weeks but it didn't effect his taste buds at all. I never even knew it could. Will be praying for you and your taste buds! |
Quote:
and hey no need to apolagise! Sorry to hear that Selina about your taste buds. you poor thing. i remember when i had my tonsils out. i cant remember whether i could taste things or not. but i do remember i wasnt able to talk for quite awhile and then my family would force me to try to start talking and using my throat. i was just 8 at the time. im sure your taste buds will come back soon enough when everything is settled down. i also didnt know they can be affected. great job on the weight loss though! i've also heard about super tasters. someone once told me thats why she doesnt like vegetables cause she's a super taster! -- |
Hey ladies..I hope everyone had a great day! My day felt very long.. Got a little more Christmas shopping done this evening though... almost done. So that's something productive..lol and I did buy myself a little Christmas present as well.. I bought a pedometer that will also track calories burned .. I hope it works well! I figure maybe it will push me to move and exercise more.. does anyone else use one? i am curious about how it will work..lol
So I have a plan.. to get my house back in order and cleaned and organized top to bottom this weekend, then starting back to exercising on a regular basis(no less then 30min 3xs a week... that will be my minimum ) Monday .. hold m e to it girls! :dizzy: Alright it is time to drag my sorry butt to bed.. night night! :) |
Angela - congrats on buying yourself a pedometer!
i wear it all day to track my movements. its fun to see how many calories i have burned throughout the day. have fun with it! |
@ Echo,
Thought you would appreciate this: http://www.nbc.com/the-biggest-loser...s-liz/1180917/ Btw, you have a beautiful face chica, I think what Cape Breton Chick said was right on the money. __________________ |
G'mornin' Ladies! It's Friday.. lol Just had to add that.. this week has been a long one at work, so I am so looking forward to these two days off!
QOTD - What pushes/motivates you to lose weight? (old pictures, clothing, children, health concerns.. etc) Have a great Day!!! :D |
QOTD - What pushes/motivates you to lose weight?
I am motivated to lose weight, really by alot of differant factors.. 1.health concerns.. I want first and foremost to be healthy, heart disease and diabetes are common in m y family.. I do not want them 2. I want to be the "me" I used to be in the pictures from 10 years ago 3. I want to be the woman God created me to be, and until I am healthy and respect the body He gave me, I feel I can not fully accomplish this 4. Someday I want to be a mom, and before I get pregnant I want to be in shape so as to increase my chances of a healthy pregnancy for both me and the baby, also to be in the habit of healthy eating and exercise for the same reason. Those are my top 4.. lol |
QOTD - What pushes/motivates you to lose weight?
1. Morbid obesity runs in my family..my mom was well over 300 lbs., sis was until wls, brother who is close to 500 lbs., and my grandmother was over 300 lbs. Both my grandmother and mother died in their early 60's. Very worried my brother won't live much longer. Lord willing I would like to be around for quite a while more. 2. I want to look good and feel sexy for myself but also for my dh. I feel like I didn't keep up my end of the bargain. I have been overweight since I had my girls. He never says a thing about it but I still know that he would rather my body look like it used to when we were younger than how it does now. 3. Clothes shopping. I hate clothes shopping. I have a big pooch and nothing looks right. Can't wait to be able to fit and look good it tight fitting shirts. (might need a tummy tuck for this but I still want to be near goal if that is what I chose to do) Had a great day yesterday. Didn't get much housecleaning done but oh well that's what the weekend is for. Meeting an old coworker for lunch today. Having a chix salad sans the garlic bread and bringing my own salad dressing. Already took out chix for dinner too so can't order out tonite. And it is a really big pack of chix so I will make something chix tomorrow night too. No eating out this weekend. Angela-wtg on purchasing the pedometer. I spent tons on a sensewear (bodybugg type thingy) and don't really use it. It was cool at first but got bored with it. Am thinking of charging it up and trying again during vacation. I have 10 days until vacation and 4.4 lbs to lose to meet goal. Wish me perseverance. Have a great Friday!!! |

But, seriously, I don't want to take a cereal bowlful of drugs every morning as I get older. My mom lived to be 92 and was diabetes, hypertension, heart disease FREE. She had no life-style diseases that often plague elderly people. So I try to exercise and eat healthy and lose weight. Looking good in clothing is a real perk. So today I'm not walking. My legs feel like rubber and my arms ache (not that I walk on my arms). I'm going to hit the bike and DIL has the car today so we're going to do a bit of shopping, but nothing major. Next week she plans on hitting the city and do a big Christmas shopping spree. I, on the other hand, have just about all my shopping done locally and have the gifts wrapped. (insert smug smile here :smug:) I weigh in tomorrow but don't know if I'll show much of a loss as I had a big 2.5 loss last week. But where's there's life, there's hope. Hahahaha. Glad you all like the cookie philosophy statement. :D Don't forget to substitute any beloved food for the cookie in that phrase. Must go pay a few bills. Catch you all later tomorrow with the damages from the scale. |
Good morning lovely ladies!! TGIF!!!!
Angela - congrats on the pedometer! I've been wanting a tracker type thing for a while and found that Costco has BodyBugg for $179.99 ($40 off), so hopefully I can get one next paycheck. Retired - Sometimes we all just need a day (or few weeks in my case) off to recoup. Enjoy the shopping! And I'm almost done with gifts, and halfway done with wrapping :) Mercy - How's the exercise treating you! Glad to see you here still! Mary - Good plan on the chicken! I found that planning meals for a few days at a time really helped me keep on track. * perseverance* to you! QOTD - What pushes/motivates you to lose weight? 1. The camera/ mirror. Having to look at myself and see someone I didn't like/ like being began this whole journey for me. 2. Wanting to be healthy so I can have a baby. 3. Fitting in to my old clothes, which for the most part, I do now. DH has promised he'll buy me anything I want when I make goal. 4. My 10 year HS reunion next fall. I want to show up looking great, and not be "that girl" who got fat. So, I've been off the wagon for a few weeks. I think I needed a mental break where I didn't have to think about anything. I've maintained, so that's good. I am back on track for the weekend though. I'm hoping the break will do wonders for me, like a shock to the system. I had hit a bit of a plateau for November, and I think that led to me giving up a little. But I have a renewed sense of wanting to lose the weight. So here I am, in for the long haul. |
Quote:
Awww Mercy! you totally just made my day, thank you so much, you put a big smile on my face! hehehe :D thanks for the link just watching it ! bahahahahhahahahahahahahahhahahaha LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D thanks for that! LOL @ no this is a slasher movie and her reaction to the spider web was PRICELESS LOL!!! haha thanks for the laugh. -- hope everyone has a great friday! my best friend is coming over tonight for dinner and then we're gonna have a gossip girl marathon!! i've already worked out what i'm going to eat so i dont have to be OCD infront of her measuring things out and calculating my calories haha. and have already worked out how many of the "treat foods" i can have for dessert also. preperation is key! :) she's also spending the night, so it will be fun watching gossip girl all night hehe. --- Quote:
Hey Angela. thats a great question. what motivates me to lose weight, is to look good and feel comfortable in my old clothes, that i havent been able to wear for years and years. at the moment i cant afford to buy new clothes. so back in august i decided, if i cant afford to buy clothes, why dont i lose the weight so i can wear my old clothes and look good in whatever i wear, and losing weight is free!! so yeh my motivation is to be able to wear clothes that i like. :) Loved your answers Angela, Mary, Isabella and Nella! those are great motivators. good luck on your goal Mary !! and i totally hear ya on the clothes shopping frustrations! isabella, good call on taking a rest day. jillian talks about how if your legs feel like lead than its a sign of over training and you should take a rest day. thats great Nella that you've maintained and now you're in it till the end! -- well i better get moving, i am going to do the jillian michaels, boost metabolism dvd. want to get my workout done and showered and ready and tidy up before my friend arrives. |
Hi guys not that anyone is keeping tabs, but I got back later from vacation then planned hence my missing the cut off (Couldn't get to the computer until Tuesday Morning). Probably a good thing since I was slightly up it didn't count for you guys! I'm still going to weigh in though, and I'm still here reading if not just a bit quiet.
Hope everyone had a good holiday. Anyone put up a tree yet? |
Idealmuse - How was your vacation?!? Glad you are back!
I put our tree up last weekend, the cats are throughly enjoying it, especially the kitten. They've knocked off half the ornaments already, so I've had to do all plastic ones this year, lol. Echo - I hope you have a fantabulous Girl's Night tonight!!! Diva - How's the moving going? *hugs* |
Good afternoon girls. Sorry I've been MIA just been busy getting packed, and getting the utilities cut on and everything, it's hard getting stuff done with just one car. but I am all caught up now..I think. The move is tomorrow so I'll be offline until Monday unless there's a problem w/Charter and that is VERY possible considering they are idiots.
ANYHOO. ECHO, FOR THE RECORD GF, I THINK YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL AND HAVE NOTHING AT ALL TO WORRY ABOUT. Only 20 more days??? ohmy.gif I've bought ZILCH...Wait...I bought a house, does that count??? Got everything on yesterday after I froze my BUTT off waiting for heat. We move tomorrow and Hopefully Charter will have me back online Monday but I won't hold my breath. They are idiots. When I went and paid the bill the day before Thanksgiving, I went ahead and scheduled the disconnect & reconnect for Dec 7th...so why in the **** they thought it would be okay to cut it all (cable, Phone, internet) off on Monday is beyond me....So when I call and I am on hold after going through their robot, I whispered idiots under my breath, well, some CS chick had already picked up and said she heard that and that I am directing my anger in the wrong place, and I said Um...nope I don't think so...I think It's aimed at the exact IDIOTS who got the Disconnect date wrong and after paying them over $200 a month for I don't know how long, I'd appreciate if they could get it right the FIRST time, have friendlier, more helpful customer service and get my services turned back on because I am not moving for another week. Thank you very much. She ended up transferring me to another rep because I was too hostile for her dumb ***. I reported her too BTW. Stupid twit......Yeah...I'm a Diva...Anyhooo....this has been so dang stressful. I've had several days with blood sugar above 300. When it happened today I called Jess at work crying....OMG! I NEVER do that...much less cry in front of or to people. WTH?! Anyways, sorry to be on my soapbox but I needed to vent. LOL! :dizzy: So, we are moving tomorrow THANK GOD! They are calling for snow but I don't care, screw it. I am just so ready to have this done. We are also getting our tree this wekend too...I think.... Y'all have a great weekend and I'll be checking as soon as I can and I am posting this weeks WI now just in case I am not back on by Monday. |
Hahaha don't you HATE dumbass people in the workplace! I see all my friends and family out of work, and they are amazing hard working people, and then I go to a store or call customer service and deal with the rudest, idiotic, most ungrateful for a job peeps ever!
Good luck on the move! |
Hi everyone! I hope everyone had a great Friday... i know I did just because it was in fact Friday.. haha I am exhausted.. and i went to get my H1N1 shot before supper, my arm is slightly achy and I am so sleepy.. It is going to be a cuddle up with movies/book kind of night I think..
Diva.. I can completely empathize and sympathize about the whole moving nightmare ordeal.. I have moved so many times I could not even begin to count them anymore.. ahhhh Good Luck sweety!! Echo .. have fun tonight.. I am a Gossip Girl watcher too.. lol that and One Tree Hill make up my Monday evenings. Nella.. I hear you on the "mental break" thing... I have been there too. I had some medical issues arise at the beginning of the month (November), and due to stomach discomfort I kind of fell into old habits... well that is ending now. i won't allow myself to beat myself up over it though because I have remained aware and am getting back to looking after me within a month.. not 6 or 8 months after the fact.. right? So good for you!! We will get back into this together! Retiredone.. Way to go on the Christmas shopping.. I am about 97% finished as well but not even close with the wrapping.. I bought the wrapping paper, thats about how far I have gotten there.. lol Have you all been having as mild of weather across the pond, as we have been having over here? For all of you who may not know Canadian geography, where Isabella lives is a province across the water (the "pond" being the Atlantic ocean..haha) from me.. roughly 12ish hours.. lol Well.. I just heard from my niece, who is like my very own daughter.. she is 16 and plays senior high school volleyball. They are playing away this weekend in the Provincial Championships...she just text me and said they have won their first two games... i am so bummed I couldn't be there this weekend... :) but thankful and blessed with regular updates..lol okay.. g'night ladies! :grouphug: |
Hi Angela. I'm on the Avalon Peninsula right now and it's been fairly mild but terribly windy. But I'm from central NL and they've had snow this week. We're promised snow here on Sunday. So this side of the "pond" is starting to look and feel like winter. Don't know if the snow will last for Christmas, though.
Diva, hope your moving gets less frustrating. I don't really know what it's like to move. We've been living in the same house for over 31 years and when I was a kid we lived in the house my father was born in and my sister still lives there. I don't think I'd know where to start if I was moving. Good luck to you. Idealmuse, sorry you missed the weigh in deadline but you made it almost to the end. I haven't got up my tree yet. I usually do it about a week or week and a half before Christmas and keep it up til after New Year's. As I'm not at home right now and won't be until the 13th of December I'll have to start getting it up as soon as I get home. Echo, have a great "sleep-over" with your friend. Not much sleep happens. :D  A big wave to everyone. Hope you have a great weekend. |
@ Echo
LOL @ no this is a slasher movie and her reaction to the spider web was PRICELESS LOL!!! haha thanks for the laugh. The above was FUNNY, but the "it's not birds, they're insects" line had me peeing in my pants lol. Thank gawd, she does have a soft side:D |
Thanks Nella for the mention, exercising has been good, but the diet, not so much. I need structure so I am finding out, so I might have to do another challenge and just not place too much emphasis on how much I lose this time.
|
Mercy... lol That clip had me in stitches! too funny! I love it! haha
|
Morning Everyone.. we are almost to the end of this challenge!.. I find that so hard to believe..I find it went by so fast. I wanted to share with everyone the remaining competitor list for the final weeks... Girls we are lower in team members so lets reallly jack up the workouts and the POP days!

Diva - we have Charter here too, it's our only option and they SUCK!!! Our internet goes out all the time for no reason, and they are impossible to deal with for customer service. Glad to hear the move is almost over!!
Quick check in to say that the scale is moving again for me! Down a bit this morning. Hoping for a good weigh in on Monday! |
Ah, we are a brave little blue army left to fight the red side. :D I guess we'd all better do our best this coming week as there will be no redemption weeks left for us. I lost another 2 pounds when I weighed in this morning. I was really happy when I stepped on the scales. This is my lowest weight in years and years--maybe since I before I was married. Can't wait til my new dress pants fit well enough to wear.
WTG, Nella. Our starting weight and goal weight are almost the same. You are doing really well since August. 25 pounds is tremendous. Must go watch a movie with the kids. Catch you later. |

-- update from me! i finally got around to do some of the POP challenges (revisited) it was good to see that i was able to beat my own record for some of them ! :) i'm keeping the pop challenge OPEN (no deadline) until our last weigh in for this challenge. so you still have time- if you want to see if you can beat your own score. http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/bigg...ml#post3035616 |
Thanks Mary and Echo, I'm hoping to get some taste back soon. If I don't though, I'm trying to be thankful I'm healing well from it and that I'll probably never have to go into the hospital again with tonsilliitis! As far as not being able to taste sweets and most other foods, sour pickles are the closest thing to normal as I can find, I'm trying to accept that I may never be able to taste normally again. It's weird, really weird to try to get used to that when I have always thought of my holidays, etc in a sense of what food will be there. I'm such a dork! LOL! :sumo:
I find myself not feeling afraid of losing all this weight now though. Now that's strange because I know I told you all how I panic when I get right under 200? Like fear of succeeding, fear of getting so much attention because I do get it and it's uncomfortable, esp if it's someone who is pushing boundries, fear of what my life may hold when I'm at normal weight, etc. Just alot of unknowns when you've never ever been a normal weight. So here goes and I sure hope you all can help keep me motivated to keep losing during this next challenge. Wouldn't it be neat if I hit a final goal weight in the year 2010? I've been overweight since 1978 when I was 5. I turn 36 next week. That's a long time. I think my final goal weight is 155. When I hit that, I will have lost 122 lbs. So almost half of me. I know that'll feel good!! I feel so much better than I did at 277. I can't imagine being 155. We'll just hafta see how it goes. I love that I have this place to come to though. You guys are great!!! Gotta go to bed now, hugs to you all, Selina  |
All the best Selina! you can do it!! we can all do it together with each other support :)
you're so brave and calm about the whole taste bud issue, i know if it was me, i would be constantly stressing and worried. but hopefully it will come back  i know what you mean about being afraid. i feel like that sometimes, being afraid of the unknown. we're gonna be here for you Selina! for every step of the way, for every pound. you can do it!!! :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: |
Hey Ladies! I hope everyone had a great weekend! Mine was a little hectic. My niece and her high school volleyball team won the Provincial title yesterday and my sister agrees to allow her to host the Provincial Party. So of course I was there to help chaperone.. lol Got home after 3am .. lol it was fun but over 45 teenagers is alot to handle lol haha but it is okay.. as long as my niece was happy it was worth it. Mind you her thoughts after the fact last night were .. I like going to the party better then hosting one! LOL
So today i have spent doing some work here on 3FC Biggest Loser Challenges to hopefully make things a little easier for our newer members joining for the winter challenge. i can not wait to get into it full swing! I am going to think about a new challenge to rev us up for the last stretch here of this fall challenge and I will post it tomorrow. I think that is what i will do for the upcoming winter challenge as well.. will run the side challenges Sunday to Sunday.. so as to give our bodies a little rest before the wewigh in...so that our muscles could adjust and release some of the excess water weight they may hold after working out hard...what do you all think? Let me know! |
that sounds like a great idea Angela! i CANNOT wait to hear what you have in store for us!!!!
i'm also looking forward to the bridge the gap challenge and the winter challenge in jan!! :) woohoo for the bridge the gap challenge. will you be announcing the first weigh in date, after the fall challenge is done ? and details of where we sign up for the bridge the gap challenge |
Hi Echo, the Bridging the Gap Purple Team challenge will be an optional challenge.. no sign ups. We will post a chat thread and a weigh in thread and anyone who wants to join will just post and participate. It is not going to be as strict as the reg. season challenges, it is just there for those of us who need the accountability to utilize. And I will post those Thread the day this challenge ends! So that we can just keep on keeping on! lol i will of course keep track of everyones weight and announce the winner of that mini challenge the day that i announce the new teams for the winter challenge, and at that time we will then go to our individual team threads for a week of getting to know one another on our teams. Sound okay? Any ideas are welcome and I will discuss them with MonteCristo!!
|
Thanks Angela!! that sounds great! :)
|
InStitches - I loved your idea for adding a POP to this weeks challenge, so I swiped it and added it to the basic layout! lol haha thanks!!! :D
|
G'morning Ladies.. I am in a rush this morning but wanted to pop in to wish you all a great day an a great week!!!! :D
|
Morning Blue Team. Had a great weekend very busy lots of work and fun. Kept eating in check and the scale showed it yesterday morning!! I now need to lose 5 lbs this week to make my goal of 169 by vacation. I will post my weight on Sat 'cause we leave early Sunday morning. I plan to eat a cycle this week. 1200cals/1500/1200 etc. Hope it works.
Hope everyone had a great weekend. Happy Monday! |
