RED TEAM Week 10 Chat

Sorry I didn't get the chat thread started sooner. I've been having a lot of difficulty getting on the site. I've brought over the last couple of posts from last week's thread.

I must say sorry to the red team I have only lost 2 pounds this entire challenge. I am not complaining because I have not gained but the weight seems to just be holding on for dear life. I did rake the yard Saturday and Sunday and my arms are so sore so I hope maybe with hard work and exercise this week I can jump start a loss.

I went to my 2nd of 4 kids birthday parties and I did not eat any cake. I ate a little bit of chex mix but other than that no snacks. So I am doing great in the resisting temptation area. I have also been finding so recipies for thanksgiving that I think I can alter a little to make lower in calories.

This week I am concentrating on getting in my water everyday and getting some form of exercise whether it is yard work, a DVD or jogging.

Congratulations to everyone who lost week!!!

I am down a little bit this week, which I'm happy about; it could have been a lot worse, it was a rough week foodwise. I'm so ready to get back on plan, and today is definitly my day.

ArmyWife02 11-16-2009 10:35 AM

well i'm taking a break from putting the quilt together to have some breakfast....speaking of which - my bagel popped up a while ago. lol better go heat it back up and eat, so i can get back upstairs working on hubby's quilt. i've put a deadline on it for tomorrow - so i can get it in the mail asap. ;)
every have a great OP day ;)

Ms Perception 11-16-2009 02:51 PM

I thought the site troubles were over, but this morning for a bit I couldn't get on to any pages. I'm glad it's okay again.
I'm doing well today with plenty of water and all the good stuff. I found a lost pound and plan to rid myself of it ASAP with a friend or 2! :D I think I've established a maintenance range I can live with, so once I reach my 135 goal, I'll reset my ticker to reflect my new goal (middle of the range for cushion LOL). I'm so excited to do that. It means being a maintainer is in sight for me! I doubt I'll be there before this challenge is over, so I'll still be trying to be a Biggest Loser for RED. :) GO TEAM!

KimL1214 11-16-2009 03:20 PM

I'M BACK...

Finally...

So other then some permanent hearing loss and still a bit of wooziness, I feel a million times better! It definitely did not waste any time taking over my body and I would not wish any of it on anyone. If you haven't got your swine flu vaccination, get it. Some people do get off lucky and are only sick for a few days and then others end up like me, sick for 2 weeks, with some crappy permanent down-siders ... English teacher making up words... I wish I had enough time to do personals, but I'm 2 weeks behind on paper work and super short on time, so I will be checking in tomorrow! Thank you everyone for the well wishes!

sweetandspicy 11-16-2009 03:24 PM

Mandey- Good Luck on your quilt.

Monte-I was so happy I was finally able to get on the site today that I did not realize that I posted on last weeks thread so sorry and thank you for moving it.

Hope everyone is doing well. I am assuming everyone is having trouble loggining on. I am at work where it is easier to do anything on the computer. WhenI am home on the weekends it is hard to navigate my PC I get frustrated and I just assumed it was my computer not the site.

Not doing well on the weight loss front it is like my body is in matinence and it does not need to be. I have already drank my water for today which is great for me because I have been slacking in that department. I also ate veggies and fruit for lunch so that is a good start for the week. Hope it continues.

Aclai4067 11-16-2009 03:38 PM

NSV- So a few weeks back I bought a pair of size 20 jeans and figured it was a fluke (must run big) since I was still quite firmly a 22 in dress pants. But today I got curious, since I expected to be fitting into a size 20 sometime in the 240s and I'm now at 248.2. So I pulled the old size 20s out of the SpaceBags in the storage closet and they all fit! Found some shirts that fit too (a lot of them aren't cute anymore and are going to Goodwill but I've got a few keepers).
I was a size 20 for a really long time before (and had a wicked employee discount at Lane Bryant then) so I have a lot of clothes in that size. I never really wanted to accept my new sizes as I got bigger so I would only buy a few pairs of pants. As a result, for about 3 years I'd only have 1-3 pairs of pants that fit me at a time. So this is like Christmas come early for me, I have 9 pairs of jeans! So exciting

JasonsLea 11-16-2009 04:36 PM

 girls!

Today is a good day. I kind of helped a friend get a much needed job. All I did was tell her about the place and she swears I'm her hero. :o I'm looking to do a transfer. More money and more training. If things keep going this way, all my Texas friends will be working in the same call center as me. Things are looking up, I am hopeful.....:halffull:

maryshady 11-16-2009 08:24 PM

Hi Red Team!!

Does anyone have the ability to delete other people's posts? It would be nice to clean up the weigh in thread and delete those members who have dropped out. I may try pming dix to see if she could do it if no one else has that ability.

ArmyWife02 11-17-2009 12:04 AM

finished sewing the back strips together so it's all one solid piece now...just have to layer them and start sewing everything together. been online most of today talking with hubby - about christmas presents. tomorrow night will be very exciting ;) me and the kids are going to the movie theater to see wizard of oz on the BIG screen....it's my all time FAV movie and bought the tickets online a couple weeks ago to ensure that i didnt miss out again. we missed the Sept viewing and refused to miss it again.

Congrats (again!!) Jessicado and runner ups Shan, Ms Perceptions, and Aclai!!

Looks like we had a much better week than last! Good job all!

Kim - Welcome back! I hope you're continuing to recover and feel better! That is so scary that you have permanent loss from it. Uhg. :(

ArmyWife - can't wait to see the finished quilt. I've made ONE quilt in my life so I can kinda relate, although it didn't look nearly as good as yours does so far! The bad thing is that I raffled it off and while it made a nice chunk of change, in hindsight I am sad that I will never see it again! They are so much work!

I was soooo close to 215 this morning - I cannot wait to hit that first milestone! The next one will be reaching 10% (213) and then its on to onederland!

Can't believe how close we are the finishing the season. Will there be a spring BL challenge? I want it, I NEED it. :)

I for one hope so. We usually have 3 a year; fall, spring and summer. It appears that we have lost all of our previous organizers, so we may have to work it out on our own. I am perfectly willing to continue with Red Team.

MonteCristo 11-17-2009 09:00 AM

I am having some serious problems with my scale. It is refusing to budge. I don't understand what the problem is. It seems like it doesn't matter what I do it stays right there around 165-167. This week I weighed in at exactly the same thing as last week, 166.2. According to my wii I lost 3.5lbs this week, but on my official scale, nothing!

The math just isn't working. I've been shooting for a 750 deficit, which should give me a 1.5lbs loss each week. NOTHING!!!!! I'm not fudging any numbers, I log every bite I take, and I count my calories off my HRM. I've been working extra hard to get in vegetables and not eat many sweets, but it doesn't seem to matter.

I'm starting to get really discouraged.......I really thought I'd be down to my goal weight by now, but I still have 25lbs to go! I just don't know what the problem is. I was having this same problem before I went to Scotland, and I thought it would help to relax for a couple of weeks and just eat "normally", but I ended up gaining 10lbs, and I'm still having trouble dropping weight.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Ms Perception 11-17-2009 09:58 AM

MonteCristo-That Stinks! I wish I knew what the problem was so I could help you. I'm still trying to figure out my body. I think they all handle things a little differently. I don't know what plan you follow, but it's always a good idea to re-evaluate every once in a while. Maybe sodium is a problem, maybe your thyroid or something is messed up, are you getting plenty of fiber/water/protein/etc.? Hope something changes for you soon so you can see the numbers you've earned!!

Thanks, Monte and tinabinab! I try for a 1-2% loss every week and most of the time I get it. I am holding onto the stubborn pound I picked up Sunday. I REALLY want it gone today!! I better see some good scale progress tomorrow or I will be very FRUSTRATED!

sweetandspicy 11-17-2009 10:44 AM

Congratulations to all the loosers!!!! If I said that statment anywhere else it would be so offensive

I think I'm going to have to do something I really dislike..........strength training. I hate having to think about exercise, so I stick with cardio, you know, stuff I can do in front of the TV. But I've been hovering at this weight for like 6 months, and it is about time to do something drastic. So I'm going to sign back up to Jillian's website (had great results last time) and start doing her workouts again........we'll see what comes of that.

I don't follow any offical plan. Basically I eat around 1500 calories, and I burn about 750 in exercise. What I eat and how I burn doesn't matter......I track all my food at Livestrong's The Daily Plate, and I use my HRM to track my calories burned. I drink at least 80 ounces of water a day, take my vitamins, etc.......I probably eat too much sodium, but I've already cut that back drastically so at the moment I don't want to cut back any more. I guess there is nothing left but strength training. :(

KimL1214 11-17-2009 03:08 PM

Mommyofsix~ How are you doing with your water intake today?

Aclai4067~ SWEETNESS on having so many jeans to choose from!!!

JasonsLea~

ArmyWife02~ I LOVE the Wizard of Oz!

jessicado22
~ CONGRATULATIONS!

tinabinab~ Awesome job getting so close! You'll be there in no time and soon be celebrating Onederland as well!!!

Ms Perception~ No worries, it will disappear in no time!!!

MonteCristo~ I would check to see what your fiber intake is as being low on that can throw a serious kink in your weight loss.

I'm slowly getting back into things which has been super annoying and rough as I am used to just charging into things full force. I have not returned to the gym yet as I am still struggling to catch my breath just walking up a flight of stairs, so I don't think my body is ready for an elliptical or treadmill quite yet and I want to make sure that I don't relapse. I really need a nap right now...

Ms Perception 11-17-2009 06:50 PM

Monte-Sounds like a good plan! I'm a big fan of strength training. I think it's key, but I know lots of people don't care for it. I hope it does the trick for you!

jessicado22 11-17-2009 08:19 PM

Woohoo! Thanks everyone! It is so nice when my scale agrees with me, lol. (I don't think it is going to be nice tomorrow as I ate bagels with cream cheese at our staff party today.......bad me!) Anyways, I actually just reached the 80 pound loss mark if anyone wants to check out my progress pics:
http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/mini...ml#post3016231

Well, hope everyone else is doing good. I just finally read the last part of week 9 chat and saw that Shan has a new relationship--woohoo! Those are always so much fun....I want one! You have to fill us in on all the details so I can live vicariously through you, lol.

shan84 11-18-2009 01:50 AM

Congrats to Jessica for once again being our Biggest Loser. You are doing so great and you are truly an inspiration to me. 80lbs....WOOHOO!

The new relationship is going really really well. I've not had very good past relationships. Having had self esteem issues for years its been so easy to let men walk all over me. My father left when I was 2 years old, so I definitely have trust issues with men in general.

But, I met Conner and he lives and works in Okpo a small city about 5 minutes from me. He treats me amazing, like no man ever has before. He appreciates me as the woman I am now, and the healthier me I am trying to become. Sometimes he comes with me to the gym just so we can spend extra time together. This past Sunday we hiked a huge, HUGE mountain. I'm definitely enjoying the beginning stages of our relationship. I'll keep you posted. So far, so AMAZING! Haha.

Ms Perception 11-18-2009 10:03 AM

Jessica-Holy cow on those progress pics! You look incredible. Congrats on the progress and best wishes on continued progress and improved health!

Shan-How exciting! You deserve to be treated right. I'm so glad you found a nice guy. No matter what happens with it, it lets you know how beautiful you are inside and out to us and to people in the real world. Keep up with the good work! Your losses have been wonderful!

I'm back within a pound of goal. I really hope and expect to get there tomorrow or Friday. It will be a tremendous feeling of accomplishment to reach that goal that I had set up in my head all these years as "THE weight" to be. It was my high school weight. It doesn't quite look as good now, after 3 babies and years of obesity, but I still think I look pretty darn hot for a 33 y/o mother of 3! :D Now it's time to finish toning it up. Once the body fat is in the "fitness" range, I'll officially be at maintenance. Can I get a WOOT WOOT?! LOL

MonteCristo 11-18-2009 10:37 AM

Just a woot-woot? I don't think so! You deserve so much more!!!!!

Kim- I got all my water in yesterday but today I have some catching up to do. But I can do it!! Thank you for the support.

I always do well on Wednesdays because I watch TBL on Tuesdays and it gets me so motivated to keep working hard. I am sad about REbecca but she looked fantastic when she was running that marathon!!!

Hope everyone is doing well. We are having our Thanksgiving work party today so I will have to resist temptation but I can do it!!!!

tinabinab 11-18-2009 02:42 PM

Kim - Keep at it - hopefully you'll be 100% again soon.

Jessica - :cheer::congrat::cheer: You are doing fabulous and your pictures are amazing! Thanks for sharing them with us - they give me so much inspiration!!!!

MsPerception - :carrot: You said it best in a previous post about persistence being key. You're a fine example and I'm so glad we're on the red team together. I'm looking forward to celebrating your "goal" with you! Will you be posting your before / after picts??

MonteCristo - Hehe, woot much?! :) Thanks for the smile!

Shan - Sounds like a great guy! I have a feeling this we'll be hearing more about him. :)

Mommyof6 - Good job on the water and with resisting today!

We had a pre-Thanksgiving celebration at work too - they did a pancake breakfast. My contribution? Fresh Fruit. Except for the one small sausage, I did pretty well. I balanced it out with lots of fruit, a plain egg and a bunch of water.

Hi Antonia,

Well first I would drop my calories by 100-200 calories a day, plus I would calorie cycle to trick my metabolism. I was having the same problem and this worked for me. I think because both you and I are both so close to our normal weight range our bodies are saying slow the bus down. Jillian Michaels said on her radio show that our bodies want to hang on to extra fat for times of famine, so it will get harder for us as we get closer to our normal weight range, but it can be done.

Sunnigummi 11-19-2009 07:32 AM

Hi everyone!!

It's comforting to see others bouncing between 2-3 lbs as I'm having the same problem!! I was jumping between 155 and 156, now it's 154 and 155. I know I'm the problem since I haven't been calorie counting, just estimating. I used to be strict and measure out cups and spoons of everything but have been lazy lately.

On the other hand, my exercise has been great! I do either a 4.6-4.8 mile walk or I jog a mile and walk a mile. I'm getting into strength training as well and I'm not a fan either, Monte.

Good luck for this week, girls!!

Jessica - congrats on your 80lb loss!! Woohoo!! Your pics look great!! Also congrats on winning this week's BL! :)

MsPerception - wow, 1 lb from goal? That's amazing!! I still have more than 10 lbs but reading your post has inspired me to keep chugging. :)

Shan - wonderful to hear about your new relationship. He sounds like a keeper. :)

shan84 11-19-2009 07:51 AM

Hi everyone. Just checking in on this wonderful Thursday evening here in SK. Went to the gym for an hour workout tonight. Felt great! I'm really hoping to reach my New Year's Eve goal of getting under 300lbs and into the 200s for the new year. Thanks for all the encouragement in this new relationship I'm in. I'm falling fast and its a scary thing. Haha. Anyways, hope you are all doing well and have a good end to the week. Tomorrow night I'm cooking dinner for the bf, then Saturday night we are having date night. Thinking about hiking that mountain again on Sunday. I really, really hated it when we did it last Sunday, but I also lost 6lbs last week because of it. So, I'm thinking I should consider trying it again. What are your thoughts?

ArmyWife02 11-19-2009 09:12 AM

well got down to 149.2 this morning...havent been eating too many calories cuz i havent been working out. hope to get back to my workouts soon. have to get hubby's quilt done - he's had me online for several hours this week talking about christmas presents - so that means i havent been upstairs working on his quilt. Alex has his tumbling class today, so gonna have breakfast and see if i can get some work done on it before we leave. then come home and work on it till we go to get Abigail from school. fun stuff ;) there's just not enough hours in the day ;) lol

sweetandspicy 11-19-2009 10:14 AM

Im not gaining but I am also not loosing. I think Im going to go back to eating cerain food combo/calorie combos at each meal. Get in all my water and get back to cardio. That worked for me this summer so it should work now. I have been taking a B complex vitatmin and it has made me feel better. Tom is here today which is of course early but better this week than next because I have huge chocolate cravings and on Thanksgiving Day the last think I need is cravings...

Hope everyone is doing well.

tinabinab 11-19-2009 02:13 PM

Wahoo! Weighed in this am at 215.2! I am so excited about reaching my BL goal early. One of the reason I made it my goal was my scale. :) I have a weight tracking scale that I have had since Jan 2006. You record an initial weigh-in and then everytime you weigh in after that, it tells you how much over or under you are to your initial weight. Well, my initial weigh-in on that scale was 215.6. For the first time in YEARS, the scale showed me a negative number instead of a positive!

(I notice too that I joined 3FC in Jan 2006, so I'm back at my original joining weight too!) Only going down from here! Did I mention WAHOO!?

Congrats tinabinab! That's awesome

Ms Perception 11-19-2009 09:28 PM

Super exciting day today as tons of progress was made on the building of our new house! I was POP, but I am also suffering from chocolate or FOOD cravings, in general. So far so good, though.

MonteCristo 11-19-2009 09:35 PM

Let's see if I can get this to post..... been having problems all day.

I have made some changes to my plan. I've renewed my membership to Jillian's site, so I'll have my workouts all planned out for me. Part of what I hate about strength training is all the thinking you have to do; what exercises, how many reps, how many sets, how much weight, how long..........ack! Makes me just want to jump on a treadmill and run off. ;)

I'm going to continue to eat 1500 calories per day, though I may do a bit of calorie cycling, just keeping my average at 1500. If I eat less than that for more than a couple of days in a row I start to get ravenous, and part of my weight loss philosophy is never to starve myself. I'm going to start taking one rest day per week, probably on Wednesdays. The days I exercise I am going to shoot for 800 calories burned. As Jillian's program calls for 4 days of strength training per week my week is going to look something like this......

Thursday - strength training
Friday - strength training
Saturday - cardio
Sunday - strength training
Monday - strength training
Tuesday - cardio
Wednesday - Rest Day

I'm going to try this out for the rest of the year and see where it gets me. If I lose 7lbs I will dance for joy!! :D

Aclai4067 11-19-2009 09:57 PM

So I got under 250 at Weight Watchers at weigh-in last Saturday. But I weigh more on the balance beam scale at the gym, so when I weighed on Tuesday I still had to keep the big bottom weight at 250, ugh. But today I finally got to move it! I like to set the scale at my start weight before I get on so I'm moving the weights to the left (seeing the weight go down) instead of moving them to the right (weight going up). It was so fun moving that big bottom weight to the left! It looks like I'm going to have another good weigh-in on Saturday. Can't wait!

Oh, and I found a pretty cool website today www.bodyrock.tv This chick's a bada$$! She posts a new workout every day (so you don't get bored). I haven't tried them yet, I know I can't do them all at this point. But I'm going to try some of them when I'm up at my parents' house and away from the gym on Thanksgiving. If you dig through, there are a few beginner workouts.

ArmyWife02 11-20-2009 12:37 AM

nice website....i want her abs ;) lol I've got a lot of work to get that far in 2 months. lol ;) i need to start doing my strength training again soon, i miss it - helps burn more calories ;)

Ms Perception 11-20-2009 09:59 AM

Aclai-Yay! It's so fun to see that progress...especially passing a half-century mark! Congrats and keep up the good work!

Monte-Looks like a nice solid schedule. I am also gonna start calorie cylcing soon. I'm hoping it will give the sense that I can eat a little more some days and still see good scale progress and also to coordinate with the days I'm doing more (or less) exercise.

I'm back down to my low weight and REALLY hope to see a loss tomorrow so I can move on from this crazy week+ of fluctuating around the same pound! I'm staying POP and have managed the pre-TOM cravings well so far! Yay!

KimL1214 11-20-2009 02:48 PM

Have a great OP weekend everyone!!!

MonteCristo 11-20-2009 10:23 PM

Well I've done two days of strength training and I am SO sore! I am so happy that tomorrow is a straight cardio day! ;) But I feel fantastic, and I've already lost 1 pound, so it looks like things are working out so far. :D I hope everyone has a great on plan weekend!

P.S. - I am still open to suggestions for an exercise challenge. If I don't get any ideas soon we may be stuck with a do-it-yourself week............:D
