Well done Nixmom on losing this week! i really admire you slugging it out in bootcamp :drill:

Congratulations Diva! :celebrate: i can feel your excitement through your post :)

Diva, a stay at home is a full time job 24/7 i think its harder, than having a 9-5 at least when you get home you can say, okay im tired i had a long day at the office. but with stay at home mums, it never ends. i have so much admiration for stay at home mums, they work so hard but usually arent given any credit for it.

WELL DONE on your pound loss Diva!! :cheer:

Thanks Mercy for making the week 9 chat and for the challenge this week! its great i love it!! :) i'm gonna throw in some smilies for whenever i meet a challenge, cause i love me some smilies lol.

I'm happy to report a 2.2lb loss this week! especially since the last few weeks, i had a combo of gain, freebie and no loss.

dream710 11-09-2009 11:24 AM

Diva-:congrat: How exciting so many things changing at once, I bet your head is spinning. Good luck on the job hunting! Way to go on the one pound.

Nixmom-getting married Thursday!! WOOHOO! Good luck on the big day. Keep rockin it at bootcamp.

Echo-Great job on the 2.2lb loss.

Mercy-thanks for the new challenge! I look forward to taking part this time around.

Well girls, looks like I'll have more time to be on the computer. Last week was a bit of a rough week for me. I found out they (work) cut my pay by 10% plus they changed my hours I now will work 12:30-8:30pm. Not exactly the ideal hours for a mother of two small children one of which is in school and whose husband works overnights(goes to work at 7:30). I told work I would try it and see how it goes, but I may have to look for another job. I'm trying to find the positive in it. I get to spend more time with Jaxon we had fun this morning. Got dishes done, two loads of laundry, and the toilets scrubbed. Not to mention more time to exercise and more computer time!! I guess I've give it a month or two and see how it goes. I didn't get much exercise in last week, I managed to have a stiff neck all week plus had a lil touch of the flu...but I'm finally feeling better and was pleasantly surprised to have a 1/2lb loss this morning (was praying I didn't gain).

Anyways I'm off to do some more housework.

Everyone have a great day!

Nella 11-09-2009 11:39 AM

Diva - That's awesome!! Congrats!!! On the house and the pound :)

Dream - That is a rough schedule. I hope you guys can make it work.

Not a lot of time this morning, but just wanted to say hello. Check back in later!

Yeah, that's why I want to talk to a tax person. We aren't going through a Bank or mortgage company for this house. It's rent to own thing from this really nice, wealthy old lady that I guess just likes us, saw something in us, and is giving us a break. It needs all this work, and she is letting us move in the first month free. She's going to a lawyer this week so it's all legal, and is going to charge a little less than the going interest rate and our first payment isn't due until Jan 1st and all she wants is $2000 down payment in Feb when our taxes get here. She's selling it to us for $120,000. I want to know if we will qualify for that tax credit doing it this way??? This is unbelievable to me. It's a newer, really nice house. It's small, but it's big enuff for us and the yard is huge! Brand new paint, Jess is putting down new carpet and floors, it has an extra room (office) and 1/2 bath recently added and brand new heating /Air unit put in. The outside looks great. it has a brand new covered front porch, so I can have a swing. I just can't believe this. I looked at the going rate around there and heck, just land alone is going for $189k. So I feel so lucky and so blessed.

Okay, I've got to get back into the game

Narnia99 11-09-2009 02:03 PM

 everyone!

Well, I didn't lose this week, but I am happy to have just maintained as I wasn't truly on plan until later in the week.

Nixmom - Hope you have a beautiful wedding day! Congratulations!

Diva - :congrat: That is very exciting news. Sounds like a wonderful house and a great deal.

Echo - 2.2 lbs is great! Way to go!

Dream- Sorry about the changes with your job. I hope it works out for you.

Mercy - Thanks for starting the challenge this week. It looks great!

Have a wonderful day everyone!

Diva, if I were you I would go see a Real Estate attorney. Most attorney's don't charge for the 1st time consultation, if they do, it's minimal. The charges are for the paperwork and legal docs that must be drawn up if you hire them.

maryshady 11-09-2009 04:13 PM

Hi to all. Had a great weekend. Thanks for the well wishes. Ate too much and didn't want to get on the scale this morning so I took a freebie. I am waiting a couple of days to weigh so I don't get discouraged.

Nix-Congrats on the wedding. Looking forward to hearing all about it.

Echo-Way too go on the weight loss!

Need to get moving I will be back later.

Mercy03 11-09-2009 04:55 PM

You know, I have been very disappointed in myself this last week, but after Echo responded to one of my posts, it just hit me. Dieting is all about curves and ups and downs. That's what Echo said. So, I had a down week, but I have still lost 15 pounds this year.

So instead of sitting on the pity pot and continuing on a downward spiral, today is a new day and week.:) I feel much better and I'm gonna kick it up a notch and lose that elusive 5 pounds.

Rant over!

p.s. I lurve you Echo and Diva:hug::hug:, and Ms. Retire, you will forever be my inspiration and role model:hug:

suzie42 11-09-2009 05:47 PM

Hi guys! I hope everyone is doing well. I didn't do this well this week, but I'm going to give myself one more week to get back to it before I drop out of the challenge.

Have a great night everyone!

Well, I'm gone for a day and Blue Team has erupted into full-blown euphoria. I didn't know what all the congrats were about and had to go back and read the end of week 8, haha.

Nixmom, may I also extend my best wishes on your upcoming nuptials. I'm sure your day will be perfect in every way.

Diva
!!! A new house for you and you're first. I'd be excited too. And I'm sure you'll do well in the work place. Don't underestimate your abilities.

Echo, you finally broke out of the 160's. YEAH! Sometimes it's a waiting game.

Mercy, thank you. I will try and live up to your expectations.

Suzie, don't drop out. Use your bad week as a learning experience and don't repeat what went wrong. We're here to lose weight not win $250,000. Everyone has a bad week or two.

Dream
, hope your new hours work out well for you. Sorry about the pay cut but maybe it won't last long.

 Nella and Happening and Narnia and Mary. Hope you all have a successful week.

I ate so little today I had to go downstairs and get more food. I was feeling really hungry and tired and when I put everything into fitday I had barely 900 calories for the day. I'm feeling a bit more full now. :) My son keeps telling me I'm starving myself and today he was right. But I'm still tired. Taking care of little Baby is tiring work for Nanny.

I lost a pound this week so I'm another pound-a-week person. That's what I usually lose and I'm happy with that. That would be 200 pounds in a 4 year period if you want to put a bit of perspective to a pound a week.

Catch you all later, people.

Nella 11-09-2009 09:31 PM

Mary - This week is a new week. No worries. It happens to the best of us.

Mercy - I like your thinking. Sometimes it's up and sometimes it's down. But in the end we'll all get there if we keep trying.

Suzie - It's a challenge, not a life or death thing. You've lost 11 pounds! That's great!!! Honestly, my first 10 came off really slow, and then the next 10 went quick. And you are thisclose to being in onederland!!!! Don't give up! We are here for you!

Retire - Glad you are still having fun with the little one! But don't forget to eat!!! And a pound a week is great! Like you said, it builds up over time. Slow and stead wins the race.

Well, i'm off to go work out for my 30 minutes. I would have done it earlier, but I drank a lot of water to combat the the salt I ate today and I feel sloshy. Stupid pre-TOM cravings!

Nella 11-10-2009 08:12 AM

Good morning ladies!!!!

It's been too dark at night to go walking when I get home from work, so I made myself get up at 6 and do it this morning. It feels so good to know it's over and done with and I don't have to think about exercise for the rest of the day! It was a little rough getting up an hour early, but after a few days, I'm sure I'll get used to it.

I'm still retaining a little water from my 3 day salt binge, even though I tried my best to flush myself out with water yesterday. Oh well, TOM will be here and gone before I know it and everything will be back to normal.

Have a great day everyone!!!!!!

I was going to edit my post but............. I freaking lost 2.5 pounds since yesterday. I was 142 yesterday morning and 139.5 today:carrot::carrot: So maybe my binge eating kick started my metabolism:D

I have also been working my arse off, due to out of town company coming in for my mothers 82nd b-day on Thursday. Whatever it is, I will take it:D

Nella 11-10-2009 10:07 AM

Mercy that is awesome!!!!!

I do believe that there is some merit to the calorie cycling thing. If you always keep your body guessing how many calories it needs to burn, it will burn at a higher rate because it will think it's getting 1800 calories, and then you only give it 1400. That's why I don't count calories on Sundays usually. I don't overindulge, but I also don't freak if I eat a little more on that day.

dream710 11-10-2009 10:16 AM

Mercy-woohoo on the 2.5lb loss thats great!

Nella-I prefer to exercise in the morning too! It does feel good to have it out of the way. I think it also energizes me for the day.

Suzie-Weightloss is a long hard road, so please don't quit. These challenges are meant to help inspire, encourage, and give support to all of us who are trying to lose weight. You maybe struggling but we are here to try and help you thru that tough time.

Retire-make sure you eat, we don't want you getting sick!

Well I survived my first day of the new hours. I was a lil crabby...the other lady that works there was doing my work and trying to get the boss to teach her more of it. She keeps it up, her and I are going to have words!! After work kind of sucked, I got the kids picked up and by the time I got them to bed and got to eat it was almost 10:00. Anyways we'll see how day 2 goes.

On a positive note: 1 managed to stay op yesterday.

maryshady 11-10-2009 05:17 PM

Will do the numbers in the morning. Unfortunately I don't have excel on my home computer only on the business one. So I need to do taxes in the morning so I will do the numbers than.

Did great today but probably won't get a workout in. Back to writing everything down. So mad at myself for doing so great last week and then blowing it all weekend. This is such a pattern for me I need to break free from it.

Suzie-Don't quit. Come here more often make a plan and stick to it. Believe me I know easier said than done but I know eventually we will all succeed if we keep trying! (((hugs)))

Nella-I love to workout in the morning too. I have gotten out of the habit but I think it is time to start that up again.

I am going to give your not counting calories on Sunday. a try. I know I probably inadvertently did some good by cheating, but I would like to do it in a healthier way lol.

:cb: Woooooohoooooo! You go girl! I can't wait to weigh that! I won't be over-weight at all anymore!!!!! :cp::bravo::dancer: You totally rock!!!

Thank you for the pm. I miss you too and Echo and Isabella and everyone! We've been going to the new house a lot and packing some things. No exercise but I am watching the calories and I am sore from all these moving activities. LOL! We are just cleaning, LOTS OF RAKING, fixing and moving some things slowly up until the big move that will be Thanksgiving weekend. So many things ya have to do and we are trying to fix it to where Matt can stay in this school here rather than having to transfer to a new school his last 2 yrs. But he HAS got to start working, saving for a car and driving this summer so he can drive himself. Both Jess and I will be working in the opposite direction, so if he wants to continue in this school, he has to make it happen. I don't think that's too much to ask of a kid that will be 17 this coming summer. Do you?

Yeah!! Your back:carrot: I not sure you have to exercise with all of the work you are doing lol, moving is WORK!

As for your son, I grew up in a middle class household in Evanston Il and even though my parents had the money, they made me and my sister get a job and buy our own cars when we were 16.

I should thank them for that, as earning what you have is one of the best lessons a parent can teach their child.

That's what Jess says too. He was working at 15 and saved for his first car that he bought on his 16th Bday. I was spoiled rotten and everything was just given to me and when I turned 18 and was suddenly cut off, it was a HARD lesson to learn. We've spoiled Matthew. He's my baby...and I really think this child needs to learn the value of a dollar, so if he wants to continue in this school, he's gonna have to work for it. otherwise he can catch the bus to a new High School. PERIOD.

Hehe, sounds like I am in a mood, but really I am not. I am happy as can be and feel truly blessed, I am just sore and a bit sleep deprived right now. LOL!

Nella 11-11-2009 09:18 AM

Mercy - WAHOO!!!! That's awesome!!! Congrats!!!

Diva - Moving is more of a workout than you think!! All that lifting and carrying and back and forth. You'll be surprised at how much activity you are getting. And I have to agree with Mercy, at 15 I pretty much got cut off from the parents buying me everything. I worked 2-3 jobs at a time and babysat too to make money. I had to pay for my car insurance (my mom and I shared a car) and any clothes, haircuts, lunches out, activities the money had to come out of my pocket. Mom and Dad had money and I grew up in an upper middle class family, but they made me work for it like they had to and I am thankful to them every day for it. I have a friend my age (27) that still has daddy's credit card and are still in school because they have had no sense of responsibility in their life. So, I say go for it. He's your baby, but he's (I'm sure) and able bodied, healthy boy who can work 15-20 hours a week. He'll appreciate it later.

Ok, so on my end not a whole lot has changed. The scale is still being my foe, but the pre-TOM cramps have kicked in so I know I'm retaining water. I'm trying not to be down about it, but I know there should be movement on the scale and there isn't. Maybe next week I'll have a whoosh and drop to 164 :) Until then I'm stuck at 169.

I ended up eating only 1050 cals yesterday. It was a rough day as I attended a funeral for a friend of my SD. She fell ill last week and died within 24 hours of being at the hospital. Very sad and unexpected as she was healthy teenage girl otherwise.

Diva 11-11-2009 09:50 AM

Oh my goodness Nella. That is horrible. I am so sorry for y'alls loss. I'm also sorry about the cramps. *sigh* What we must go through as women...

Thanks for the encouraging words about my boy. He is already hating it and giving us some tudage' but I also think one day he will be grateful of this little shove into the world we are giving him. If he really wants to go to that school, which I hate BTW, then HE has to make it happen. I do feel bad about him having to change schools if it comes down to it because he's gone to school here his entire school career...well since the 3rd grade. All his friends are here, but we are only going to be 1 county over, and 20 minutes away, so it's really no biggy in my book. Jess refuses to pay for a car, gas, or insurance for him so what can ya do? I see how he turned out, Mr. Responsibility, never misses a day of work, and I believe this is the right thing. Seriously I was spoiled rotten. Y'all just don't know and I struggled a lot because of it. I expected everything handed to me for the longest and it was a HARD lesson learned and I'd rather have Matt learn now and not in his late 20's like I did. :D She cut me off at 18, but not completely and anytime I asked for anything, she still handed it to me, her and Daddy, until one day it was just over...and boy was I pi$$ed. LOL!

dream710 11-11-2009 11:16 AM

Congrats Mercy, what an accomplishment!

Nella-I'm sorry to hear about your loss. Its hard when someone so young passes away. How is your SD doing?

Diva- Congrats again on the new home. Sounds like theres so much to do before the big weekend. I think its important for kids to learn the value of a dollar. Matt maybe upset now but eventually he will thank you for it.

Nella 11-11-2009 11:38 AM

Thank you ladies for the kind words. SD is doing ok. I don't think she fully grasps it yet. We are taking her to a counselor though just in case.

And Diva, it's a hard lesson to learn, but like you said, better now than later!

retiredone 11-11-2009 12:27 PM

Good afternoon Blue People. Lot's going on in our lives, isn't it?

Baby is sleeping now while his mother is giving a piano lesson. DS is on the mend but still laid up but so much better than even yesterday.

I had a little iddy, biddy, teeny, weeny bag of chips with my lunch today. 90 calories so that's not too bad.

Nella
, so sorry about the young girl and your SD. It's always so hard to lose someone young like that. Children are resilient though and usually accept the explanations from adults if they are given honestly. Death is so normal but so tragic.

Diva
, sounds like you've got your hands full with all the moving. Your DS will come around to getting a job and eventually love having his own money.

Mercy, Way to Go, Girl! You are now where I was last spring before I started stuffing myself like a Christmas turkey. I can't wait to break out of the 140s (again).

Mary, we'll wait for the results. We're a pretty patient group here in the Blue team. :)

 Hi to Dream, hope your day is going well.

Must go surf some food sites and eat vicariously. :D

Also thanks everyone for the encouragement. It takes a village to raise these kids...in this case, an online one, lol!

Hi everyone!

Thanks so much for the encouraging words. :)
I'm here for a mid-week check in. Hope everyone is doing well. Biggest Loser was crazy last night! I also watched Jay Leno afterward, and the 2 that went home are looking good! (I won't say who they are in case you still haven't watched it. :))
Have a great evening everyone!

Retire, you will forever be my inspiration and role model:hug:

awww lurve you too Mercy!! thats so good to know that i helped in some small way! :) well done for you for dusting yourself off!

I lost a pound this week so I'm another pound-a-week person. That's what I usually lose and I'm happy with that. That would be 200 pounds in a 4 year period if you want to put a bit of perspective to a pound a week.

Thanks Isabella!!! so sweet of you!

well done on losing that pound! think about it. thats 3500 calories!! which is alot. and you did it :)

nicely said Isabella, I agree - suzie, stay ! i've had a couple of down weeks, but stick with us . you will get there, we're all allowed to have off weeks from time to time. i know i have plenty of them myself!

Do you?

aww miss you too Diva!

all that you described IS exercising, its FUNCTIONAL training ;) using your whole body! good job ! :cheer:

Nella, congratulations on getting into the 160s! i saw you join the 160s thread! way to go!! :celebrate:

and on a sad note, sorry to hear about the funeral :( that is so tragic and heartbreaking

Mary, we'll wait for the results. We're a pretty patient group here in the Blue team. :)

Must go surf some food sites and eat vicariously. :D

Sorry I didn't get the results done today. I couldn't figure out the spreadsheet but I heard back from Monte Cristo on how to do it. I will have the results by tomorrow night.

It was a rough day as I attended a funeral for a friend of my SD. She fell ill last week and died within 24 hours of being at the hospital. Very sad and unexpected as she was healthy teenage girl otherwise.

My condolences to you and the girls family.

Good morning Blue Team. I'm back from my walk a bit early today as DIL, Baby and I are going shopping in town today. I'm supposed to be in the shower right now but here I am, hahaha. Baby isn't ready and neither is DIL so I'm safe.

Today I'm going to try on a pair of Earth Shoes at Walmart. Actually, they're ankle boots and look so comfortable to wear with jeans when shopping, etc. DIL wants a pair, too so we'll be headed in the same direction. I'd also like to find a pair of sneakers/walking shoes that are winter proof. Most of the shoes have mesh tops which not only let in the wet but the cold wind goes through them as well. I've been looking for a while now but my search has been in vain so far. If I find a pair that looks suitable they're too narrow and if I find a pair that are wide enough there's something digging in. You know the story. Wish me luck today. :)

Echo, I do obsess over food but it's safer when it's only pictures and not the real thing. :D

It's a cold but sunny day here. Hope everyone has a good day whether on plan or off.

Good Morning Teamies!!!

OMG! I can barely contain my excitement for life right now! I was up singing & Dancing in the living room @ 6:30 a.m just thinking about my 1st Christmas in my new HOUSE!!!!! That counts as exercise right? :D hehe!!!! Loving life right now!!!!

Echo 11-12-2009 04:13 PM

Isabella - you have more restraint than i do, i would start to crave foods hehe

Diva, aww bless, so happy for you!!! you deserve it! its such a lovely thought! i love your positive spirit. life is good! :celebrate: *does the brocoli dance with Diva* :broc: :broc: boogey on down sista!!

well blue team, i am super excited today! my heart rate monitor arrived today, and I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!! didnt take me long to set it up and its totally comfortable to wear!! and really motivated me and inspired me during my workout.

i did jillian michales 30 day shred levels 1 2 and 3.

i love my polar f7f! it tells me how many calories i'm burning, and what percentage of my HR i am at, its awesome, its my new shiny toy hehehe. i love it!

my stats from my workout is as follows:

jillian michaels 30 day shred level 1 2 3
total time = 1 hour 25 mins

total calories burned = 703 (45%fat)

time spent in light zone 30 minutes
time spent in moderate zone = 32 mins
time spent in hard zone 22 minutes

time spent in the zone: 151-169 bpm= 22 minutes.

max HR achieved = 88%
average HR = 72%

i know jillian says that we should workout at 85% of our maximum heart rate, that is tough! most of the time i was at around 75% but yah i could feel it when i was at 85% i'm so happy that it arrived today!

i was actually looking forward to working out so i could test it out hehe :)
