RED TEAM Week 6 Chat
Here is the new chat thread. Let see how high we can rack up the post count this week!
|
Monday Discussion Question - What exercise makes you feel the best about yourself, and why do you think that is? |
Since it's Monday night here in SK, I'll jump right in and get us going. I had a great day today food wise and exercise wise. The week 6 exercise challenge is perfect for me and I hope I can put in the work and beat TOM this week.
Monday discussion question- I really, really, really love working out to my Richard Simmons Sweatin to the Oldies 1-4. It makes me feel the best about myself because the people in the video not only encompass the overweight person I am now, but the healthy new me that I am striving to achieve. I love the way the music makes me feel, and even though a lot of people put down Richard Simmons, he really knows how to be compassionate and really lifts my spirits. Hope everyone else gets off to a good start for Week 6! GO RED TEAM!! |

MonteCristo-Thanks for starting us out with a fresh thread. I really fell behind here and completely lost track of the Red Team threads last week. I am back and ready to be a supportive Red team member.
Shan-I agree it's easy to tease Richard Simmons, but I always enjoyed his videos because you could just feel how much he wanted to help people get healthy! Igetfitandstrong-Thanks for the :kickbutt: I know I haven't been on here like I should. Time to refresh my commitment to RED;) The exercise that makes me feel best about myself is probably running, followed closely by weight lifting. Both are things I really enjoyed as a teen but didn't pursue as much when I gained weight. Now I feel fit and healthy as I do those things. I can see the muscle firming slowly and my endurance and speed are slowly improving while running. That feeling of youthful strength is fantastic! Unfortunately, recently I've been experiencing some pain in my right foot which is making me slow down on my runs and evaluate whether to completely stop running until the pain leaves or just baby it between runs and see how that goes. So far, I've been doing the second thing. I REALLY don't want to stop running and honestly my foot feels no better or worse after running, so I figure, why not run? The other down side is that I experience the pain (not major) during any exercise that involves me being on my feet. I'm not sure about the best course of action here. I've finally gotten to a good exercise routine and now to stop would make me feel like crap! P.S. The above is the reason I've not joined the exercise challenge. I'd love to but not sure I can. :( |
Good morning/ good evening to you all. I can not post a loss for this week. I weighed this past Wednesday and I had actually gained so I lost that pound and 4 oz and am back where I started. I need to get back on track I did so well this past summer. This cold weather is doing me in.
What exercise makes you feel the best about yourself, and why do you think that is? I did exercise last night but not as much as I need too. I need to get back in the habit. When I exercise consistantly I feel better about myself because I feel like I have accomplished something for myself. Something just for me. I have more energy and confidence when I exercise and I have done so well and seen some great results since I began my weightloss journey. With all that said. Some nights I still can not motivate myself to exercise. I did the 30day shred DVD by Jillian Michaels and I felt great!!! Monte Cristo- way to get our week started. Thank you for your leadership. Shan- remember when the Sweatin tapes first came out and my mom bought them. I will have to see if she still has them. Great job on the exercise. Ms Perception- I hope your foot feels better, but way to go on exercising through the pain. |

As far as exercise, I would say anything that gets my heart rate up and feeling sore afterward (legs and arms, not my heart :p). I love walking briskly. I love jogging too. I feel like a "runner" you know those super fit chix who always jog past in sports bra and shorts with their iPods and they're barely breaking a sweat and they're super toned? I always keep that image in my head while I'm jogging. It keeps me going. :) |

Hi team! I haven't been here a lot either, it's our busiest time of the year right now and by the time I finally get home half the time all I want to do is crash. So what's new with me....was diagnosed with a vitamin D deficiency and am now on high dose supplements and OMG it's amazing how much better I feel. This past weekend I actually had an overabudance of energy and it was really, really nice because I got a lot done. I posted a 2.8 lb loss this morning....I'm down a total of 13.6 lbs for this challenge, and down 26 lbs overall. Go me! lol I'm very happy with my progress.
I also haven't posted here a lot because a thread I posted about the diet I'm currently on was closed with the comment that 3FC doesn't support that diet. I felt like whoever closed it didn't bother to read that I'm not on a severe starvation form of the diet, and wasn't willing to consider that maybe it's possible to take some of the good things about a diet and use them without going to extremes? So I was very disappointed with that and needed some time to sort out my feelings. Bottom line...I don't feel like I can post about the diet I'm on here, but I think everyone can tell from my post in the weigh-in thread that I'm losing a couple pounds a week which is a safe rate of weight loss. And all of my doctors, not just my diet doctor, are very happy with my weight loss and are very supportive. So it's all good whether others agree with my choices or not :) Monday Discussion Question - What exercise makes you feel the best about yourself, and why do you think that is? I really like any exercise that is fun and doesn't FEEL like exercise. Water aerobics is a favorite because it just feels like splashing around and goofing off in the pool. I also like Turbo Jam....it's a little more like exercise, but it's fast-paced and bouncy and some of the routines just make me laugh sometimes! |
Sunnigummi-That's a great mental picture to keep while running. Thanks for sharing that. I want to be that toned, fit chick running down the road! It would ROCK if I was at that point next summer and could run around in running shorts and a tight running top without worrying about what's jiggling! LOL
Luckybustert-Sorry to hear your diet thread was closed, but as long as your doing something healthy that you can sustain as a lifestyle long-term, then keep it up. I always just ask myself if I can do this (eat this way, do this exercise) the rest of my life and if I can't answer yes, then I don't even begin that thing. Take care and thanks for coming on here! Mommyofsix-It is definitely a tough time of year. Don't worry about maintaining. You were able to get off the excess and now you can make progress from there. This colder weather here has certainly dampened my enthusiasm for running outside, but I have made some changes to make it better. I'm in charge here, not the temperature! LOL BTW, I love your avatar. You have such a sweet, beautiful smile! Thanks for sharing it with us!! |
Good morning ladies! (And good evening to you Shan!)
As for the question of the day, I would put running as the one that feels the best to me. I love doing my exercise outside and as a life-time asthmatic, running is not something that is easy for me at all. I mostly only do it in intervals (kinda a modified C25K); I don't know if I will ever be able to run a full mile in one stretch. It kicks my butt, but I always feel so invigorated and empowered afterwards. Love that "high". I'm on another high this morning. After my 1 lb gain last week, I logged a 4 lb loss this morning. It's the second day in a row that number appeared on the scale, so I'm feeling pretty darn good about it. I think my muscles may have been retaining water last week after all the stair climbing I'd done at Great Wolf last weekend. I also took my measurements this morning, but I can't seem to find the paper where I had written down the original numbers. Wah. I use WW online, and I can see where the measurements are listed, but I cannot for the life of me figure out where to actually enter them in. Anyone know? Hope everyone has a great week 6!! |
tinabinab-Go into Weight Tracker and at the bottom of the page you should be able to enter your new measurements. Hope it works!
|
Thanks!! I could see the stats page, but I couldn't figure out where to click to add updates. (Apparently I'd entered some numbers in back when I first did WW online.) So I finally figured out if I pulled up each measurement chart and clicked on the circle for today that I could put a new number in there. Awesome - thanks!

Greetings Ladies!
I totally apologize for not being a supportive teammate. My life has just been very emotionally draining lately and I find that sometimes by the end of the day I just don't have anything left to offer. I am still fully committed to the REDS though! What exercise makes you feel the best about yourself, and why do you think that is? I agree with the multiple posters above who said RUNNING! I love running!!! I completed my first half marathon last year and am going for my second in Nov. Mind you I'm not fast and don't look like one of those "running chicks," but I just love the way it makes me feel. A close second...Zumba! A class they have at the Y that's latin dance based aerobics. A great workout and a ton of fun. |
Good Day Ladies!!!!
Im glad to see so many posts this morning!! and glad to see im one of them lol. great job for all the losses this week! i totally agree it has been a busy start i hope to be able to make more time to come and check in more then my weigh ins but sometimes its impossible ugh! but ill figure it out. SimpleRythm i totally want to try out zumba we have it at the gym out here but im scared of taking a class, dont want them to kick my butt... but it sounds great, i think ill look into it =) for mondays discussion question i agree totally with sunnigummi! i love anything that makes you sore or keeps your heartrate up, i know i had a good workout if my legs are sore and im sweating! anything that makes me sweat eww huh! its great!!!!! |
:carrot: Go Red!!
Week 6: I also want to say thank you to Igetfitandstrong for sending me a kick too, I needed it; I have a tendency to read and not post, especially if I'm feeling in a slump, and thats where I've been for the past few weeks, a pretty strong slump. Lots of reasons, but it all just adds up to me having to take charge of several areas of my life. It's a slow path, but I already feel 100% better today than I have recently. (Not enough to get on the scale this week, I'm afraid to be honest because of the past two weeks being so yucky feeling and miserable) I'll just take what it gives me next week, and go from there. What exercise makes you feel the best about yourself, and why do you think that is? This has been and always will be swimming. I was never very graceful on my feet, and never much liked running, but was always pretty good in the water. It really brings you to a peaceful place, too, because the pool and water mute almost all sounds but swimming, so you can really focus. I enjoy it immensely, and need to get back to my Master's team practices this week. Keep up the good work everyone!! |
QOTD: Lately no exercise has been making me feel good but usually running does the trick. I am forcing myself this week to run at least three times to get myself back into the swing of things. I'm in a big funk right now!
|
Monday Discussion Question - What exercise makes you feel the best about yourself, and why do you think that is? Well for me any aerobic exercise makes me feel good, I get a high about 20 minutes in that is addictive. It just feels, so good to be moving and I love that my body is getting stronger each time.
MonteCristo: First of all I hope you are feelling better. Also I just wanted to say you are a great leader and you are making this so much fun! Thank you for taking us on! Shan84: I love Richard Simmons, I agree he is very positive and you can tell he really cares. Ms Perception: Thank you so much for the kind words in the PM and here. Oh foot pain that is hard, I had that for a while it was Plantar fasciosis, that’s why I bought a stationary bike but losing the weight is what really helped me. If you can, please go to a sports medicine doctor, I am sure they can help, they helped me. Mommyofsix: It’s probably water retention I can just look a salt and I blow up. Don’t beat yourself up, I am in the same boat, TOM is here for me. Sunni: You are not alone, everynight I become a lump in front of my TV! :D LOL Nicki54: I see you are from the UK, where abouts? Luckybustert: I have heard about the vitamin D deficiency it makes it very hard to lose weight. I am so glad they discover what was ailing you and congrats on your weight loss! Tinabinab: Congrats on your 4lbs loss! You must be on top of the world! SimpleRythm: Zumba I have been wanting to try that ever since I saw it on Dr. Oz. MrsVegan: Okay I am now going to have to try Zumba, two people is a sign. Are any speical things needed to take the class, shoes etc.? Shea5: Oh thank you for the sweet PM and what you said here. We are each here to pull each other out of slumps. Cakes: And we are here to help each other through the funk! KimL1214: I know you are ill but when you log in I wanted you to know someone was thinking about you. Get well soon. |
Good question!
I think weight training makes me feel the best about myself, cause i'm good at it, and it makes me feel strong!! Big  to all! |
Hey all, back again. I finished my walk a couple of hours ago. It was GREAT! Really, I felt awesome. I came back and I was sore so I'm guessing I'm going to see another jump in weight tomorrow (this morning I weighed 158, a lb up from yesterday). Sigh. I know my commitment matters more than motivation but I can't help but get irritated when I see a jump in weight only because I know I've been staying on plan.
Today's cals were 12 over my range (1600 - 1800) but that's alright. Tomorrow's another day. I still have a deficit of 100-ish calories, which makes me happy. Better than being 100 over right? :) Here's a  and a good luck to all for this week!! Let's kick some blue butt!! :carrot: |

Long day, super tired. Just checking in real quick.
QOTD: Running makes me feel best because it's something I was unable to do for sooooo long. Sure I can't run that far yet, but I am running and I'm not in pain! |
My, my, aren't we chatty. :D It is good to see everyone coming together to encourage and support each other. :woohoo:
And I guess I should answer our discussion question.............My favorite exercise is what I call "freestyle aerobics". I strap on a heart rate monitor, turn on some good music or an upbeat tv show, and just do whatever to keep my average heart rate up to about 120 for 45 minutes or so. It is completely unstructured, so I can do lunges or jumping jacks, or even throw in latin dance moves. It makes it seem more like playing than exercise. |

Awesome to see everyone jumpin in again!! :yay:
QOTD - My favorite type of exercise is running because it makes me feel empowered.. and is a big goal of mine (again) to be able to run again.. slowly working up to it with C25K, and I would have to say strength training as well gives me that same empowered feeling. Have a great day ladies! |
I'm pulling together the weigh-in number right now, and should have it ready to post in 15 minutes or so.
Keep your fingers crossed! :D |

Getting ready to go to sleep here in SK on Tuesday night here. Just wanted to say congrats to Jessica for once again being our biggest loser! Woohoo! Your doing amazing.
Also congrats to our runner ups!! Hope everyone has a great Tuesday. I'm so ready for tomorrow morning. It means I'm halfway through week 6 here!! |
I walked/jogged last night which makes me feel better about that tiny piece of Birthday cake I ate. I usually do not indulge but I fell to the peer pressure. There are so many Birthdays around here and with the holidays coming up I am going to have to watch myself. The weather is warming back up a little bit and that helps get me motivated to exercise. My sister also gave me a great stroller for running so now I have no excuse not to walk/jog because I can take my youngest with me. We also have a really steep driveway and while Drew was playing yesterday evening I did lunges up and down and today I am really feeling it!!!
Monte Cristo- great job on getting the results done so promptly. I know the red team really appreciates it. Aclai- you will be running far in no time. I am sure your endurance is building everytime you run. Kepp up the good work!!! Igetfit- Thank you for the reminders. It seems like everyweek each team looses some members. It happened that way last challenge too. Sunnigummi- I find that not weighing everyday helps me. Weight fluctuates so much it can really drive you crazy, well it certainly drive sme crazy that is. |
Okay, just for comparison I ran through Blue Team's numbers and came up with 0.15% loss for the week, which is very good (Congrats Blue Team!), but it just isn't good enought to beat Red Team, as we had a smokin' 0.38!! Way to go!! :cheer2:
|
Yay! Go Red Team!! Another weigh-in victory in the bag.
MonteCristo-Thanks SO much for the quick results. I know I'm basically thrilled with my progress and I LOVE seeing my teammates do well also! jessicado-AWESOME job being biggest loser again!! I'm not too far behind, but that just means I'm eating your dust! LOL Keep up the awesome job. Mommyofsix-Ahh, lunges. They are quite the workout. It's amazing how something so simple can really make your body work (and give you a nice butt!). I keep telling myself once I get to goal I will add more lunges and squats to get my hiney in shape, but I really like my routine now, so I'm not changing it until goal. Also, have fun with the stroller! I'd considered getting one, but with the snow fall we're bound to have it's not like I could run with it half the days during winter. I guess it's still getting up before the family to run here. Well, the foot feels a touch better today, even after my run and strength training. I'm not doing anything extra like I normally would to increase my workout minutes, but for now I'm taking it "easy". The REALLY great news is...I am HEALTHY!!! That's right, I hit 141.0 on the nose today which puts me in the "healthy" category on my BMI chart (though apparently I need .2 more on my ticker one:()! Yay! I'm waiting to make sure it continues to drop tomorrow, but it really should since I'm OP and exercising. I guess my new plan of pre-planning all my meals to make sure I eat all my cals is working. It's time consuming, but totally worth it if it works!! |

Greetings Ladies!
Working like crazy here and settling into autumn. Today is my first real day off in a while and it is cold and foggy...but I'll find something to do with it. I'm really trying to focus and re-evaluate my goals today, something I've been wanting to do for a while but just haven't had the time. I am such a stink'n perfectionist I always set-up goals and if I get off track I self-destruct. Nonetheless, I am going to give it a try today and see if I can't find some kind of plan that will help me to balance both my need to push myself and the inevitable reality that I will be off track at some point. I've done this before right? Ms. Vegan- Zumba (at least in my experience) is an extreamly low-pressure class and would be a great sayway into group exercise. Besides...it really is a lot of fun! |
hi everybody hope u are all hale n hearty ...........well last couple of weeks i couldnt get any exercise but now im back on track ..........have to take my daughter to preschool which is about 25 mins walk from our house so i get 50 mins of walk roundway..............hopefully ill see some good loss by the end of this week good luck everyone
|
Igetfitandstrong - Thanks for keeping us all on track! Life gets in the way of 3FC sometimes, but I appreciate the little nudges to bring us all back to the team. :D
MommyofSix - Great job on those lunges. I've been avoiding them like the H1N1, but I know I need to work them in at some point. :) ...and don't feel bad about the cake. Life includes cake at one point or another and it sounds like you did a great job at having just enough to satisfy the urge and moved on. Bravo! Jessicado - Congrats on another great week!!! You're doing so awesome! Ms Perception - Congrats on reaching healthy!!! That is such a huge milestone! SimpleRhythm - I struggle with the perfectionist "all or nothing" mindset too. I've learned that when I stumble I have to FORGIVE MYSELF and move on. Yes, I could self-destruct and quit, but that only takes me further away from what I want. You can do it, you've already come so far! MonteCristo - Wow, you are fast! Thanks for posting results already! You rock! Rosetta - 50 minutes of walking a day is a great way to get back in the swing of things! Good job! |
Ms Perception~ I would just keep going, but definitely get it checked out. Maybe your doctor can suggest some stretches or PT you could do to improve how it feels. Congratulations on your BMI!!! That is a HUGE milestone!!!
Mommyofsix~ I know how you feel with the cold throwing you off! I need to get back on top of exercising as well! I tried running with my friend once, and I remember being exhausted after I ran only a mile pushing her daughter’s stroller, that is super tough, Way to Go! Sunnigummi~ That is an awesome image to keep! shan84, dcapulet, Nicki54~ Luckybustert~ 13.6lbs. for this challenge alone is AWESOME! I agree with Ms Perception, as long as it is something you can do forever and not hurt your body in the process, then keep going! tinabinab~ Congrats on 4 lbs.!!! SimpleRhythm~ I’m planning on trying Zumba next week! MrsVegan00~ I’m also a big fan of anything that makes me sweat! shea5~ Keep your chin up! cakses~ What’s going on? Everything okay? IgetfitNStrongforme~ Thank you for the positive vibes! MonteCristo~ QOTDs are awesome conversation starters, thank you for posting them! Also, thank you for posting the results on the chat thread so we could see them before the end of the week! rosetta~ How was your walk this today? Congratulations to our Biggest Loser jessicado22! Also congrats to our runner-ups: tinabinab, Aclai4067, Luckybustert! Great job EVERYONE, 30.6 lbs. lost is AMAZING!!! Sorry to hear about all those that were eliminated :( Monday Discussion Question~ I would have to say that running makes me feel the best about myself because I know what a challenge it is for me to do as well as how great a running high feels afterwards. Unfortunately I may not make it back on this week as we have a short school week and I have still yet to get a computer. I was thinking about going and looking more for one tonight, but my cold has graduated to a sinus infection which is accompanied by an inner ear infection… so I’m thinking a nap would be better. I have to work both jobs tomorrow and won’t have enough time between school and the restaurant to get on here. SO… Everyone have a wonderful OP week and I will do my best to try and get to a computer at some point later in the week. Congratulations to everyone as WE ROCK!!! |
I have definitely not been participating like I should. I'm struggling a little, but realize I need to get back on the wagon and be part of the "team". Even though I've had a bad day I won't let it ruin my week. I'll be back on track tomorrow morning and I plan on adding exercise in. Gotta do something or I'm gonna be in trouble.
|
I am thrilled with all the participation in the discussion question. I think that a question each day might be a bit too much, because we don't want people to feel like they've fallen behind if they can't log in every day, but I do want to make it a regular feature. I was thinking of having them either MWF, or MTh. What do you think?
