I pray that God blesses each of your days with a smile and something to be proud of yourself about... :grouphug:

Oh a week before TOM and until the progesterone is released in my body to shead the lining of my uterus I am a puffy girl indeed. I was having water retention big time this month, and any salt I ate just made it worse, but once the progesterone part of my cycle is released, I shred all the excess water and the Dandelion Tea does help as well. You are doing great .6 lbs is wonderful! :woohoo:

Yeah I read that in the news yesterday that Jillian Michaels has some new show, it looks an awful like the British version of You Are What You Eat with Gillian McKeith. I would much rather have her radio show back which I loved, so sad she stopped it. I highy doubt I will tune in to her new tv show.

sweetandspicy 10-22-2009 04:06 PM

The show title I think is getting fit with Jillian Michaels, she moves in with your family and teaches health/fittness ect. from my understanding. They are casting right now.

Cape Breton Chick 10-22-2009 05:59 PM

LOl Shea... no worries.. I get on the scale every day! I found out something odd to me today.. lol I am at my lowest (actual weight) mid day rather then in the morning, like I have been thinking was the right way all along. I guess it just goes to show that everyone is different.. this is the third day in a row that I am .5pounds lighter at noonish.. so am thinking it is safe to say this is "my time" to weigh in.

shan84 10-22-2009 07:45 PM

Just dropping in on this loving morning here in South Korea. It has been a stressful week for me. Most of you know I am far away from family and friends here. Well, my grandmother (mom's mom) has been in the hospital the past two days. It's been really hard and stressful knowing I am so far away and there is nothing I can do to help. Plus, the 16 hour time difference hasn't been helping at all. I'm lacking on sleep because I talk on the phone to everyone in my family trying to find out up to date information on what is going on. Anyways, if your into praying, she would definitely use your prayers. She is very fragile and they don't know exactly what's wrong with her. They did 3 different tests today along with a small colonoscopy. They did 3 biopsy's on something they pulled from her stomach. Her stomach was also full of yellow bile, so the doctor suctioned all of it out for now. Hoping it doesn't reaccure. She's supposed to be in the hospital another day or two. Then she has to recover at home and wait for biopsy results next week.

Hope everyone has a good end to the week and a great weekend. Nothing much planned here for this weekend except getting in some much needed rest.

Cape Breton Chick 10-22-2009 08:09 PM

 shan! I will definately be praying for your grandmother, for you and your family!

IgetfitNStrongforme 10-22-2009 08:26 PM

Shan, I will be praying for you, your family and your Grandma. That sounds like a good plan, get some sleep Hun. We will be here if you need to talk.

Friday Discussion Question

What weight loss tip has helped you the most?

sweetandspicy 10-23-2009 08:34 AM

What weight loss tip has helped you the most? Eating smaller meals thoughout the day. In the past as I have dieted most of my life I always thought snacks were my down fall. I would eat 3 meals and suffer/starve the rest of the day and of course not loose any weight. Once I realized that as long as I make good snack choices( or actually eat 5 small meals) I am not hungry all the time, eat less, stay within my calories and seem to stick to my plan better.

I am anxious to hear everyones response as I always need constant motivation to stay on plan. Today is my best work friends birthday and I will not will not will not eat cake!!! We also have a going away party this afternoon and I may just not go to resist food temptations.

Everything is going well this week, I have exercised 3 days so far which is really great for me and I have eaten ok for the most part. I am looking forward to a productive weekend.

shan84 10-23-2009 08:53 AM

The greatest weight loss tip that I try to remember everyday is: "It's not going to happen overnight".

Even though its hard sometimes to view things optimistically, I just feel like every time I step on the scale for a weigh in I have high expectations. I know someday I'm going to stop pulling the numbers I have been recently. But, I know I will just have to remember its one day at a time. I'm truly living my life that way. That's why having this challenge and this forum is so vital to my own progress. I can't lose 200lbs overnight. But, I can have daily accountability for my food intake and exercise. I also know I have people I can turn to who understand what I am going through and can relate.

So, on that note: THANK YOU RED TEAM!!

FYI- I was just able to watch BL from this past week. Everything that Daniel said during his epiphany really hit home for me. I think that I have thought those same things about my own mother. Why can't she just accept me for me? Well, again, just another reason I love this show because they help real people at the ranch and people at home like me watching on tv.

Ms Perception 10-23-2009 09:30 AM

What weight loss tip has helped you the most?
I think the tip that has helped the most recently is to pre-plan all my meals, writing it all down with cals and all, so I don't make food decisions while I'm hungry or in a hurry. I just eat what I've planned and then I know I'm OP with cals. Plus when I plan, I take the time to work in the fruits and veggies, protein, etc. So I meet my nutritional needs.
The loophole is eating out, which I did last night. I know I was within my cals, since I pre-chose my food before I went, but I forgot to factor in the sodium content of my food. I am up over a pound today due to TOM coming yesterday and not drinking enough to counteract the salt I ate last night. I expect it to be gone tomorrow, but it was an eye-opener today, let me tell ya!

Tips

Good Morning everyone I hope you all have had a great week so far, I am just kicking back doing nothing on my day off.

Being a full time NERD, I love tips and I try to use all of the ones below, because I believe in a cumulative effect. Here are just twelve I try to follow, though I have few more. LOL! Knowledge is power and the more I read about health and weight loss the more empowered I have become to take control of my health and life.

1. Don’t eat past 6:00 PM.

2. Drink 5 cups of green tea (studies show it can shrink your waist by 5% in 3 months.)

3. Automate your meals, less decision means you’re less likely to cheat.

4. I take one aspirin and drink a cup of Organic coffee before I workout it’s suppose to up fat burn according to Jillian Michaels.

5. Walk at least 30 minutes everyday or for me I ride my stationary bike.

6. I eat a very clean diet all Organic (nothing processed), again another Jillian Michaels tip, and she talks about this in her book Master Your Metabolism.

7. Eat 2 tsp of Safflower oil. (Studies show it can reduce belly fat by up 6% in 16 weeks and will continue to reduce belly fat as long as you eat it.)

8. Get 8 hours a sleep a night. (Studies show people who do weigh less.)

9. Always carry snacks with you, so in case you get hungry you have a healthy snack to eat.

10. I drink 2 cups of ice cold water twice a day. (Studies show it boasts your metabolism by 30% for 90 minutes after drinking.)

11. This rule I live by and because I have I believe it's the reason I have no sagging skin. I want to only lose no more then 2 lbs a week. I have lost over a hundred pounds and I have no sagging skin. I had read a study that was done about this and it worked for me. So although I really would like to lose like on TBL I realize it's better for my body.

12. Eat ¼-1 tsp of cinnamon a day.

Cinnamon Benefits Include Lowering Cholesterol Naturally

Posted by JE Jones on Jul-26-2009

The health benefits of cinnamon include lowering cholesterol naturally, helping to regulate blood sugar and boosting metabolism! Recent studies show that adding as little as ¼ tsp of cinnamon per day to your diet will lower cholesterol naturally. It can also help enhance the effectiveness of insulin in people with Type II diabetes, reducing blood sugar levels.

In this recent study, LDL (the bad) cholesterol was lowered by 7 to 27 percent. People, who took more cinnamon daily, up to 1 and 3/4 teaspoons daily for 6 weeks, reduced their triglyceride levels up to 30% the triglycerides are the fats in our blood.

Here are a few other benefits of cinnamon:

•Cinnamon benefits the immune system with the antioxidants it contains. Cinnamon also contains manganese, fiber and calcium.

•Cinnamon is an anti-blood clotting and anti-inflammatory food. Inflammation is one of the causes of disease such as arthritis and heart disease.

•Cinnamon benefits Candida yeast overgrowth with its anti-microbial effects which stop the growth of fungi and bacteria

MonteCristo 10-23-2009 03:08 PM

Wow, that is a lot of tips! No wonder you are doing so well. :D

My two favorite are (1) drink lots of water and (2) this won't happen over night. If somebody had told me when I started losing weight that after 2 years I'd still have 25lbs to lose I would probably never started at all. But slow and steady is really working for me, and I can't even begin to describe how happy I am with my progress so far.

Aclai4067 10-23-2009 05:56 PM

Weight Loss Tip that's Helped the Most- "It's about persistence not perfection" I used to be the queen of the "oh well I messed up so I might as well eat whatever I want now and I'll start over tomorrow/monday/next semester/next decade." Now when I mess up, I start over immediately. No sense in compounding a mistake.

Losing4another 10-23-2009 09:16 PM

I would say writing everything down as well. If you go over in calories you know it right away. There is less question as to why your not losing/gaining. I also like to go back and read my progress...or lack of

Bette k 10-24-2009 12:19 AM

Hi Red Team,
Hope everyone has had a great week. I've had a little one with the flu this past week, she's lots better now, but still has a bit of cough and a mountain of homework to get through. Right now I would love to just run away and hide for a day where no one can find me, but it isn't going to happen.

What weight loss tip has helped you the most?
I think the thing that helps me the most is the knowledge that while losing 100 lbs is really hard, I can lose 10 lbs pretty easy and I can do that 10 times.

IgetfitNStrongforme 10-24-2009 02:12 AM

HI RED TEAM! SATURDAY IS HERE, SO I JUST WANTED TO REMIND EVERYONE TO POST YOUR WEIGHT ON TIME, BECAUSE IF YOU DON'T AND HAVE USED ALL YOUR FREEBIE'S YOU WILL BE ELIMANATED. ALSO IF YOU ARE THE SAME WEIGHT AS THE PREVIOUS WEEK, NO NEED TO WASTE A FREEBIE, YOU MIGHT NEED IT LATER.

shan84 10-24-2009 02:38 AM

Hope everyone has a good weekend. It's Saturday afternoon here in SK. I have had myself a nice lazy day off at home. I really needed it with all the stress and emotions from this past week. My grandmother is now home from the hospital and resting at home. My mom is taking care of her tomorrow. Thank you for the prayers. We don't find out the results from the autopsy until next week sometime.

My weigh in is tomorrow morning. Not sure what kind of number to be looking for. It's been TOM this week and usually I can still lose during that week. But, I fell off plan a little today with eating some chocolate I shouldn't have indulged in. I'm going to get a last chance workout in this afternoon and spend a quiet night at home. I'll drop in tomorrow morning with my weigh in for the week.

Cape Breton Chick 10-24-2009 06:34 AM

Hey ladies... it's the weekend yay.. lol now I get to work at cleaning my house... lol
The weight-loss tip that has helped me the most...? Well I would have to say that since learning for myself that not everything works for everyone.. you have to take control and find what works .. truly works for you. Drinking water for me is key. I track my calories... keeping track of everything I eat makes it easy for me to stay accountable. Also I get on the scale daily..that keeps me really accountable and motivated.

Hope everyone has a nice weekend!!

Cape Breton Chick 10-24-2009 09:17 AM

:welcome3: ArmyWife.. Jump right in where and whenever you like! Glad to have you join us as an "unoffical" team member.. :yay:
but just want to say that anyone who is "unoffical" is only that as far as weight in counting towards percentages.. and really that is just a side bar here.. we are all in this together!!! And being a support for one another to do what ever it is we each need to get done, is the most important reason we are all here...

CanadaMel 10-24-2009 12:11 PM

Hello ladies-
I've been MIA & not a good teammate
after our thanksgiving trip to CA which was wonderful we were exhausted (4d of driving for a 3d visit). Add computer issues on top of that & that is the end of my excuses!

Weight loss is holding steady- might be posting a gain this week. Used a freebie last week due to holiday gain & TOM
Still hitting 12-15,000 steps a day on my pedometer but my running has dropped off once again, so I need to get my butt back in gear (note to self!)

it's snowing like a banshee here so I think it's an indoor chore day
haves great Saturday everyone!

Aclai4067 10-24-2009 02:02 PM

Hey ladies. Well I started the week strong, then caught the lazy bug and it shows. Only lost 0.8 lbs this week. Any loss is moving in the right direction but I REALLY wanted to get under 250 this week and I was 0.1 lb shy! So I need to get back to work. I'll be there next week for sure.

This means I have reached my Halloween goal one week before Halloween!:carrot::carrot:

WTG Shan84!! That's awesome ;)
Thanks for the welcome ;) I was Red team last fall - during my first TBL challenge on this forum and was the first season of the show I ever watched...and I'm hooked. I love that I'm watching my 3rd season :) It's so motivational.
I enjoy the support and giving support to others, plus being accountable to a team of ppl (even unofficially) is a great help to me.
I hope this is just what I needed to get my butt back into gear and lose the weight that I regained after hubby deployed. I've been so busy and too tired to workout, but i'm not letting that be an excuse anymore! I have roughly 3 months till hubby gets home, and want him to come home to wife he left in Feb - not the person I am now. I know if i stick to watching my calories and get my daily workouts in every day - i can do this :)

Ms Perception 10-24-2009 10:30 PM

Just wanted to post a quick "hello". I've had a nice relaxing weekend which has involved no time online. Glad to have ya with us, ArmyWife. Hope you and all our RED ladies are having a terrific weekend! Don't forget to post weight!

Congrats IGetFit! So proud of you! Way to go!!

IgetfitNStrongforme 10-25-2009 01:56 AM

Thanks Shan & ArmyWife, it feels good after last week of going up 4 lbs, then losing that after my tea mixture kicked in and now my true weight loss from last week and this week shows. I am making a vow to myself to never abuse my body again by not exercising and eating crap. I had bought a bag of chips today but throw them down the drain when I realized I was self sabotaging. I'm going to concentrate on making myself happy, whatever that means. Sometimes it’s harder to walk away but it’s the best thing in the end.

In case you wanted to know, Christmas is coming so I felt like a more festive avaitar. :D

shan84 10-25-2009 05:19 AM

I love the new picture IGetFit. Christmas is my favorite time of the year, and its a little sad thinking of how different it's going to be this year. I've been away from my family on Christmas before, but never away from the states, away from church, away from all things festive that make Christmas, well Christmas.

So I have come up with an idea for anyone interested in participating please just send me a pm. I know that I might be slightly depressed come the Christmas season so I want to stop it before it starts by doing a Christmas card exchange with all of you from around the states and world. So how does it work? Simple. PM me for my mailing address and send me yours. I'll send you a Christmas card all the way from South Korea and you can send me one.

What do you think? Anyone interested??

Also, on a side note many of you know our challenge ends on December 14th. That also happens to be the week of my vacation for this year and since I'm doing so well on the challenge I have decided to treat myself with a huge reward this year. I will be traveling from here in South Korea to Japan for my holiday!! So excited!

Cape Breton Chick 10-25-2009 07:17 AM

Shan! that is an incredible idea!!! and woo hoo on Japan...am excited for you!

IgetfitNStrongforme 10-25-2009 01:11 PM

That's a great idea Shan, I hope you have a wonderful time. I myself am on vacation for the next 3 weeks, so I won't be around to post. So don't worry I won't be using all my freebies. I hope everyone stays the course and see you in a few weeks. :D

MonteCristo 10-25-2009 03:47 PM

I've just posted the exercise challenge for week 7, so you guys need to head on over and get signed up! We had pretty good participation last week, but I know we can do even better. I woudl really (really, really) like to see 100% participation. Please don't disappoint me! ;)

Ladybug2680 10-25-2009 04:59 PM

Congrats to everyone who has lost. It's been quite hectic around here. I'm in my last class for my Masters degree and all my work has to be turned in by Wednesday. I'm a little overwhelmed to say the least and when that happens I tend to self sabotage. Hoping to stay the course and in the long run make the right choices. Weigh in day is tomorrow.
