Hi purplies!

I am late to join this thread, haven't been too talkative lately.
I guess I should introduce myself then. I am 34, married, no kids yet. One of my motivations to lose the weight is to be able to have a healthy pregnancy sometime in the not so far future, the other is just to be healthy and to actually not be overweight for the first time in my life.

I am using Nutrisytem this time around and it's working great for me, although I do have to say I miss cooking sometimes LOL. My biggest issue is the exercise, I have never enjoyed it, I have tolerated it at best. I have been able to motivate myself to do it regularly in the past, but then I get derailed and again I am having a very hard time to get back into it.

Anyway, I look forward to getting to know all of you and chatting some more.

Hey Dixied- I read that you are a moderator now. Is there any way you could clean up our Red weigh-in thread?

Done.

It makes me sad to delete folks. As I'm deleting I'm reading their signature lines, and some had great inspiring quotes, and I find myself wondering why some of us stick with it and ssome drop out. Well, not the two that were expecting, I can kinda figure that out on my own.

So, QOTD (multi-part, graded on a curve ):

1. What the one thing (or things) that has made you sucessfully complete 13 weeks of this challenge?

2. What are you going to do differently next challenge?

3. What advice would you give to someone looking to join the challenge for the first time, next season?

1. What the one thing (or things) that has made you successfully complete 13 weeks of this challenge? I've actually been losing weight for this one. I think this is the 4th challenge I've participated in and the only one in which I lost weight.

2. What are you going to do differently next challenge? Hopefully I will participate more in the exercise threads. I haven't done any exercise this challenge.

3. What advice would you give to someone looking to join the challenge for the first time, next season?
Hang in there. Keep participating. Talk to us. Some of our ladies are very, very wise.
I'm sorta glad the challenge got extended again. It gives me more incentive to get off a few more pounds.

Happy Friday Everyone!! I'm so glad we are continuing the challenge!!!

I took a Boot Camp class Weds night and it was the hardest I have ever worked out in my life!!!! About 5 mins into the class (as we were running flights of stairs) the instructor came up and asked if I was ok. I thought possibly I looked bad but he said no, he was just cautious as last week a new student threw up and passed out in the bathroom!! I'm happy to say I made it through the class with neither of those complications!

mtiger HIIT is high intensity interval training

1. What the one thing (or things) that has made you sucessfully complete 13 weeks of this challenge? I have stuck with the challenge because of all the activity and support on the message boards. Its been great getting to know everyone and having accountability each week.

2. What are you going to do differently next challenge? do more of the exercise challenges

3. What advice would you give to someone looking to join the challenge for the first time, next season? be active on the boards, its the best way to feel involved. Weighing in with people who are following your progress helps keep you motivated

Dixie- Thank You. It is really sad that so many good people dropped out. I love your questions of the day. Maybe those of us who stuck around can inspire others to do the same.

Le tme spout my good news of the day. 1. I was 190.2 on the scale today. Almost to that new, lovely decade. I hope to see it tomorrow. 2. I ran 2.2 miles straight yesterday, no walking. And my time was 26 min. Not bad.

1. What the one thing (or things) that has made you sucessfully complete 13 weeks of this challenge? I just never quit. My mind is set on this and I see myself as the energizer bunny.

2. What are you going to do differently next challenge? Probably nothing. There isn't much more I can do or change at this point. I eat 1300-1400 calories a day and workout everyday. I miss ocassionally, but not often.

3. What advice would you give to someone looking to join the challenge for the first time, next season? Come with your mindset right. You have to be ready to commit to this 100%. Doesn't mean we don't slip up, but give it your all, all the time.

So, QOTD (multi-part, graded on a curve ):

1. What the one thing (or things) that has made you sucessfully complete 13 weeks of this challenge? i think finding a eating plan i can live with made all the difference in the world for me and not being hard on myself if i went off plan for a short time, that way i'm able to get right back on without the guilt.

2. What are you going to do differently next challenge? this challenge i concentrated mostly on the eating part, next time i want to focus on the working out and specifically the toning up

3. What advice would you give to someone looking to join the challenge for the first time, next season? i think you need to set goals that are doable and come to the challenge expecting to acheive them

1. What has made you successfully complete 13 weeks of this challenge?

The bottom line was I was ready for a life style change. Daily posting here, weekly pictures, and monthly measurements have all been useful tools.

2. What are you going to do differently next challenge?

Nothing

3. What advice would you give to someone looking to join the challenge for the first time, next season?

Don't go on a "diet" make the decision to change your life.

Good morning, Purple People.

I thorougly enjoyed the jewelry party last evening. I hadn't seen some of my friends for the last couple of months and it was fun to catch up. Plus, I bought a couple of necklaces that will look lovely with some new smaller outfits for our upcoming trip in June.

Before leaving for the party, I got on the treadmill for the first time in over 2 months and did day 1 of my modified 25K program and I ate a healthy dinner. At the party, I sipped on some ice water and bypassed all of the yummy snacks and treats. This was a huge success for me! Today, I'll be back on the treadmill for an hour of walking.

I've weighed in each week and not dropped out of the challege, but I've not participated much either. I've been going through a huge mental struggle over the last few months and it's taken me a while to find my groove again.

2. What are you going to do differently next challenge? Be committed. Be encouraging to my teammates. Post daily.

3. What advice would you give to someone looking to join the challenge for the first time, next season? The challenges are only as good as the challengers make them. You get out what you put in. Be committed. Be encouraging. Post daily.

Greetings Everyone!
I'm at work right now and bored out of my mind! Only 5 hours left to go...1.

1.What is the one thing (or things) that has made you sucessfully complete 13 weeks of this challenge?
I think probably not giving up even though I was loser slower than I expected. In the past I have set ambitious goals and failed to achieve them and just quit altogether.

2. What are you going to do differently next challenge?
I am planning more for each day, and also being forgiving with myself if things don't go as planned.

3. What advice would you give to someone looking to join the challenge for the first time, next season?
Aim for consistency, that is the best way to build long-term habits and it also makes it seem easier to stick to plan.

You all get A+ on your QOTD!

QOTD (multi-part, graded on a curve ):

1. What the one thing (or things) that has made you sucessfully complete 13 weeks of this challenge?
I haven't lost as much as some of you, but I've lost enough to keep myself motivated. I've been consistent with exercise, even when my eating wasn't perfect.

2. What are you going to do differently next challenge? Try and pull it all together, eating, exercising, journaling, etc.

3. What advice would you give to someone looking to join the challenge for the first time, next season? Post often. About anything. Get to know your teammates on a first name basis if you can. But don't stress about doing personal responses to absolutely everyone. Don't worry that it's your first challenge and you feel like the rest of the team has known each other for years. We're friendly, and most of us don't bite.

Today's QOTD:

If you've ever listened to Jillian's radio show, she often taks about metal/internal breakthrus that accompany getting into shape, particularlly when the person has been overweight for a long period of time. Have you had your "breakthru" moment yet?

QOTD:

1. What is the one thing (or things) that has made you sucessfully complete 13 weeks of this challenge? I'm very stubborn! Things might not always go my way or happen as quickly as I like but then I pick myself up, dust myself off and get back to it. I am not a quitter.

2. What are you going to do differently next challenge? Keep my strategies manageable and consistent throughout. I started off the Challenge very strong and determined, completely over-did it with exercise the first couple of weeks to the point that I suffered illness and injury which set me back. I am also going to stop comparing my weight loss with others and finding myself failing - we are all at different stages in our weight loss journey and with over 75 pounds gone already, my weight is not going to come off as quickly as it did when I was just starting out.

3. What advice would you give to someone looking to join the challenge for the first time, next season? Keep posting and contributing support to the team. We did some getting to know you questions which helped us learn what interesting people we all were and that we had lives beyond our weight loss journeys. It came to feel like we really were a team and I didn't want to let my team-mates down - a pretty strong reason to keep going!

1. What is the one thing (or things) that has made you successfully complete 13 weeks of this challenge?

I remember how I looked last summer. I remember how I felt that I could buy a size 12 anywhere and they fit great to a bit big. I am going to get there again. Meads may put it on but I can take it off.

2. What are you going to do differently next challenge?

I am going to make sure I join the monthly thread where we keep track of our exercise. I am not always doing as much as I should each day even if I am only cheating myself out of a few min here and there. Dedication got me to where I was and it will get me to where I want to be.

3. What advice would you give to someone looking to join the challenge for the first time, next season?

Keep posting. We get to know each other and in turn help each other along the way. Being part of a team really helps me keep on track. I don't want to let myself down and I sure don't want to let anyone on the team down. Make friends. It can be great to have a few friends here to have private conversations with. None of us are alone.

My breakthru came back in November after a visit with my grandson. I knew that if I didn't change my life style there was a good chance I wouldn't be around to watch him grow up and that scared me. My father died when he was 46 and my mother when she was 58; the cycle stops with ME.

My breakthrough came when I almost hit 250 on the scale. I thought, no way am I going to see that number. I have got to do something. So I did. I later bought a new scale and realized I actually was over 250. WOW!!! Never again people, never again.

I was up a little today for some reason. However, I worked my tail off today outside in my yard. Then I took my dog for a 1.8 mile walk. That scale better go down tomorrow.
