Just checked out Anna Karenina from the library. It's a whole lot of book but I'm determined to read at least 5 classics before the end of the year. So far it's pretty good.

Just a quickie this am, need to get to work early! I had a good weigh-in this week - 3lbs woot woot. I am however reevaluating if I'm going to make my overall goal for TBL challenge. I'd have to lose 3lbs a week for the next 4 weeks and I really don't see it happening. Oh well I've lost quite a bit and that's what matters.

Have a good OP day all!

I've haven't been doing as much reading as I once did, but I did just finish Dracula by Bram Stoker. I really enjoyed this book, and although it is a "horror" story, it wasn't "that" kind of horror. I mean it wouldn't give you nightmares or make you jump at every bump in the dark. Just sort of suspenseful and a little bit gruesome (its about vampires, for pete's sake). Of course, I listened to it on my iPod (most of my reading time is now being took up by exercise :carrot: ). I don't get my next audiobook until the 14th, so I'm relistening to Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

I'm in Journal Entry week here at work, plus we're having a mini-revival at church, so this week has been a bit exhausting so far. I finally made it to two miles of running on Monday, so Tuesday I just walked. Today I'm going to start the 100 pushup challenge. 100 pushups sounds impossible, but I'm going to give it a go.

I don't have time to do personals right now, but I want all you ladies to now how proud I am of our team. We did awesome last week, and I know that we can do it again! Keep up the good work!! :carrot: :cheer: :broc:

Good Morning all!! Sorry no time this morning I'm getting my girls ready to leave and I gotta get to work. But I'll be back!! Just wanted to wish you all a fantastic OP day!! Get your exercise in!! You can do it!!

What I'm reading....Florida Roadkill by Tim Dorsey...its the first of a series about a serial killer named Serge. Its very vulgar, not my kind of read but it came very highly recommended so I'm hoping maybe the last part of it really gets better..doest look likely though.

jelynn 07-09-2008 10:35 AM

Hey everyone! Thanks for the kick in the pants (ie. support, lol) I had a great workout yesterday! Food could have been better...but hey, it's a start. Just gearing up for the treadmill before the day starts getting away from me.

I just started reading The Host by Stephanie Meyer (author of the Twilight series)-- it's science fiction and totally not my genre, but it's really good! I'm also trying to get through Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follet-- it's soooo long and daunting so I take breaks with other books :)

I'm committed to get this bloat off this week- if I eat clean I'm sure I can be down in the 220 range by next weigh-in. Then to work off new weight again.

Have a great day!

CONGRATS RENNIE ON BEING THE BIGGEST LOSER!!! :bravo:

ThisTimeIsDifferent 07-09-2008 11:05 AM

Good Morning :)

WOW! We did AWESOME on the weigh in last week! Great job Red Team :cheer:

What are you reading right now? Would you recommend it?

I just finished a book called The Doctor's Wife. It's written by Elizabeth Brundage. This is the first book that I actually finished in years! I love reading but I'm known to but a book and read the first couple of chapters then put it down because it's boring...LOL! I never give a book a chance. I bought The Doctor's Wife and I set a goal to finish it and I did. It was a really great book. I bought the book called A Wrinkle In Time and I'm trying to read it. It's a book that I read when I was younger and I remember it being really good. I'm looking for a really good book but can't seem to find any. Any suggestions? Last year I started to read Wicked. It's about the witch from the Wizard Of Oz and her life before the yellow brick road. I'm about 10 chapters in and it's kinda boring. Maybe I'll start reading it again from the begining though. There's a whole series on the witch and I want to get them but I have to read this one first.I think I'll get it out later.

Anyway, have a great OP day!

Danielle~ You are doing so good! Keep up the great work :D

Tina~ I love reading! I read when the baby takes a nap and when I'm ready to go to bed I'll lay there and read a few chapters. The problem is I can't find any really great books. I'm into anything as long as it's good. I don't like scarey books, I'm already afraid of the dark...LOL! What book are you reading? Is it any good?

Roni~ I really don't have any GF's over here either. I do have my mom and sister's though and old friends from back in the day but that's it. When I go out it's with the kids...LOL! Maybe I'll move by you :D. We seem to have the same attitude, I think we'd have a blast :)

Melissa~ I know what you can do when everyone's gone.....:comp::book2::write::bike::beach::woops:: ebike::yoga::swim:...LOL!

Andi~ OUCH!!! How did you manage that?? I hope you feel better

Fat Chick B Gone~ Great job on the 3lb loss!!!! :carrot::bravo::cp::cb:

Army
Thanks. Here is my secret. Start scrubbing ceilings in the morning. Don't stop cleaning until around midnight. Don't have anytime to eat because there is always some kind of cleaner on your hands lol. I really found if you keep cleaners on your hands, you have no time to snack at all. Chocolate chip cookies really don't taste all that good with 409 all over them hehehe.

Thistime
Thank you. I happen to like mystery kind of crime kind of comedy books lol. I have a couple of authors that I really like. I can read their books over and over.

Fat chick
:) thanks. Nice going on the loss. I have really slowed down on my loss. I don't lose any for awhile and then I drop a couple of pounds.

jelynn
For all of us it is one day at a time. That is all anyone can do. You will get where you want to be.

Hun
I am going to check out that series. I might like it who knows. I love mystery kind of stuff so I might find it interesting.

Monte
The Mummy by Ann Rice is a great book. You might like it.

Good Afternoon! :sunny:

I am a sleepyhead today. For the life of me I cannot wake up! I got home from work about 5:30am this morning and went right to sleep, and now I have a serious case of the drowzy's.

Lonnie, thanks for the pat on the back it means alot. I am really proud of all I have accomplished in such a short time and how good I am starting to feel. This has become something so important to me, so thank you for sharing in my excitement!

Right now I'm reading "Compulsion" by Jonathan Kellerman. It's a character series which is something I like, but right now I'm in the first 4 or 5 chapters and its a bit slow. I do love this author though so hoping it picks up. I have a couple James Pattersons waiting in the wings as well as the last Jason Bourne book to finish off the trilogy--those I would reccomend in a heartbeat if you love adventure/government drama typa stuff---as I'm sure you've all seen the movies, right?? ;)

Ok, headed off to the gym again! :workout::exercise:

Have a great day everyone!! :flow1:

I'm on the Black Team but I just finished "The Other Boleyn Girl" and I really loved it. It was written by Philippa Gregory.

Diva 07-09-2008 04:17 PM

Okay for a bit of silly fun. Why don't we take The Sex and The City Quiz.

I thought I'd be most like Samantha, lol!

Here's my results:

You scored 60% Carrie

Your answers peg you as a Carrie-type, much influenced by the Air Sign qualities associated with Gemini, Libra and Aquarius. Like confident Carrie, a sex columnist, you're curious and perceptive, always seeking answers and never satisfied with the superficial. An Air Sign influence can lead to indecision and an avoidance of tough issues, like with Carrie and her on-again, off-again attachment to Mr. Big. Forward-thinking, incredibly intelligent and witty, you just exude quirky charm. You'd be utterly bored by someone who's just a pretty face or hot body -- though you don't mind looking and flirting! You're more turned on by an equally smart and funny mate, someone who challenges your mind and makes you laugh. You love to talk, so you need a good listener who's open to playful and eccentric ideas about love and lovemaking.

You scored 30% Miranda
You chose many of the same answers that Earth Sign-like Miranda, the cynical but pragmatic lawyer, might have chosen. Just like Miranda's had a tough time deciding whether to give in to the affections of Steve the Bartender, you don't give your heart up to just anyone. Miranda shies away from a relationship with Steve because he's 'just' a bartender, not something more conventionally ambitious or stable. Those with powerful Earth Sign qualities -- characteristics associated with Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn -- are cautious in love and seek stability and status over nearly anything else. Earth Signs provide a steady, realistic attitude and they can bring order out of chaos. A little-known Earth Sign fact: Incredibly sensual, you seethe beneath that smart, expensive business suit of yours, yearning for intimacy but hesitant to give up your material needs, your career ambitions or your responsibilities for a passionate moment that might not turn out the way you'd hope.

You scored 10% Samantha
You identify with Samantha's bold and liberated Fire Sign qualities, characteristics associated with the Signs of Aries, Leo and Sagittarius. You're strong, audacious and larger than life -- and you take what you want! Sometimes you can even be thoughtless and selfish, as you get so caught up in craving immediate gratification and excitement that you overlook someone's feelings. Your personal style likely reflects your desires: sleek, low-cut, revealing just a bit more than might be considered acceptable. Watch that you're not coming on too strong, though. You could scare potential suitors off with all your drama. If you seek so much attention, the more basic qualities of the Fire Signs could be burned right out of the picture. Show less skin or cleavage and more of your creativity, your vibrant leadership skills and courageous generosity!

You scored 0% Charlotte
A romantic at heart, you chose the answers that demure Charlotte may have chosen. Strongly influenced by the intuitive, profound and sometimes naïve Water Signs -- Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces -- you're like a mother, a mystery and a poet all in one. Though on the surface you may seem innocent and all about seeking the good in people, beneath the surface, you hide secret yearnings for intimacy, for attachment and ideal love. You're seeking a knight in shining armor, a soul mate, someone who will complete you and tether you to the earth when you get carried away with your fantasies. You're super-sensitive, soaking up the moods of others; you emote freely, crying at commercials and sappy movies. You also provide a shoulder to cry on and open arms for hugs. Be careful that you're not so wide-eyed and trusting that you get taken in by some cunning wolf in sheep's clothing.

ggmugsy 07-09-2008 04:33 PM

Lol!! Miss you, Diva!!!

I'm 40% Charlotte, 30% Miranda, and 30% Carrie. 0% Samantha, which kind of makes me growl!!!

Fun test!!!

kellybones 07-09-2008 04:37 PM

Neat quiz Diva!

I'm 80% Carrie, 10% Miranda, 10% Charlotte and 0% Samantha.

ArmyWife02 07-09-2008 05:44 PM
