  • Quote: HI everyone! I've done so well today. DH is leaving tonight for 3 days to go hunting so it's just me and the 2 girls for the weekend. I've already gotten in1 mile on the treadmill today and hope to sneak in a WATP 1 mile walk tonight too..maybe I'll indulge in a 2 mile one.

Can anyone recommend some low-calorie..good tasting filling snacks?

Also....what exercise videos would you recommend for someone out of shape, very uncoordinated and getting back into the swing of things?

Im a fan of luna bars. There decently low cal for what your getting. Its very filling for a snack. And has protein!!!
Have you tryed Turbo Jam??? When I first started using videos I used Turbo Jam, Sure I looked pretty stupid doing it. But once you get the hang of it, its pretty fun. I contribute Turbo Jam for all those inches I lost because I sure wasnt eaating correctly and inches not pounds came off. Some times inches can be better exciting!!!

  • So, I ended up going to the kickboxing and yoga/pilates class this evening, on top of the step/cardio class I went to this morning. There was a sub for the kickboxing class and I swear, though the instructor was friendly and enthusiastic, she could have given Jillian a run for her money as far as working me out. But it was really fun, even if I think a gallon of sweat must have come from my forehead alone, and I feel so accomplished now. Plus I'm going to give myself props for sticking around and doing the yoga/pilates class after the work-out-like-a-spaz-kickboxing class.
  • Quote: Well, Walk Away The Pounds is perfect! I started at 1 mile, and I can now do 4 miles if I'm feeling energetic.
Other than that, I have heard good things about Debbie Rockers walking DVDs. I am also uncoordinated, but I enjoy Tae BO...but it's something that you have to work up to, lol...they can be rough. Good workout though.
As far as snacks go, I'm not very good in that area..I end up eating a 100 calorie pack of whatever chocolate I want, lol. Not filling, but GOOD.
I tried Tae Bo once and hurt myself! LOL so I sold them on ebay! I'm thinking of checking to see if the library has turbo jam. I just ordered TBL 2 workout from my library exchange so hopefully I can pick it up this week.

I've got some of those 100 cal packs in the cupboard..and I agree...defintaly yummy...not filling at all :-(
  • YIPPPEEEEEEEEE! I am on the Black team! Thanks Stacie, I really appreciate it! Is it too pathetic that I have more motivation to lose the weight for a team & not for myself? (shakes head) At this point, whatever it takes to get me motivated I am all for it! Go BLACK Team!!! WOOOOHOOOO
  • Quote: Baileysmomma, I have the Biggest Loser workout DVD, the first one (not number 2), and I like the Strength and Sculpt section on it. The cardio kinda killed me last time I did it. Ha!

Sorry I haven't been on much! I spent hours last night on homework, and then today I was out grocery shopping. I stopped at Burger King on my way home for a salad..and wow, it was good. High fat, but I've worked it into my calories and fat allowance for the day.

I also bought a new Tae Bo Celebrity Sculpt DVD and a new scale. I don't know why I bought a new scale....I think I'm scale obsessed. My old one works just fine. Blah!

    Hope you all are well!
Cassie, yeah I did the cardio. Im so sore today. It kicked my butt

I SO want to take classes at the gym here...but I'm a bit shy. That sounds awesome though, and I'm sure you burned a ton of calories today!

Eek! Actually, the Tae Bo that I did was Tae Bo Cardio...today I went and bought another Tae Bo DVD, and it looks a lot harder...I'm nervous to try it, lol.
I have Turbo Jam, and I love it, but it takes some time to get the moves down...and I'll have to build more endurance before I can do the 45 minute cardio party, because MAN!

I was reading today on Collagevideo that a lot of people hurt their knees doing TBL workout from all the lunges/squats.
  • Name: Jennifer

    Location: BC Canada

What is your weight loss and exercise plan: I'm on Herbal Magic which is a weight loss and nutrition center

What are your goals during this process: To lose about 20lbs. More would be nice!

What are you looking forward to the most: Like everyone else, new clothes! But after that 20lbs I'll still have 60 more to go!!
  • I am really excited for this! It sounds like we are off to a good start!!

I have been exercising every night for at least 30 minutes and have been carefully counting my calories. I didn't quit drinking pop, but I did scale WAY back! I have been drinking mostly water at work. I quit drinking coffee during the weekdays at work.

I am still waiting for my turbo jam to arrive in the mail. Once I get that, I'll probably start working out in the morning instead as this working out at night has really cut into my sleep schedule cause I have to wind down afterwords. I don't think I could handle the squats and lunges on TBL after having knee surgery a couple of years ago... I'm hoping it will be okay with TJ.

That is awesome!!! I gotta admit, I am jealous!!! But jealous in a good way

I was/am so shy, and I'd taken a total of three different classes before I found one that I wanted to take. The other classes were probably fine, physically, but the instructors would make me feel uncomfortable and hover over me the entire class. I know that they were just helping me because I was a beginner, but I was the biggest person in the class and the last thing I wanted was someone shining a spotlight on my inability to work out well. But then one year I had a really stressful semester at college, and it seemed like either school or work or something else was taking up every spare second of my time, and I just needed to do something that a. that made me not so stressed out, and b. was just something for me. I'd heard good things about yoga in those aspects, so I decided to try out the yoga/pilates class that my Y offered at six in the mornings once a week. The teacher I had for that class recognized that the last thing I wanted was for someone to be hovering and unless I was doing something that would cause damage, she pretty much let me be. She kept cajoling me into taking other classes and finally she succeeded, mainly because it was her, and another girl in our PiYo class who taught the other classes. What's even more awesome is that I'm willing to bet that the woman who subbed for the kickboxing class last night would have been a hoverer but because I'm not really out of shape any more (do you know how cool it is to realize that?!) except for my weight, and because I'd done kickboxing already, I was able to keep up and do most things correctly to the point where the instructor came to me after the class and told me how impressed she was.

So I say that if you really want to do the classes, just keep trying them out until you find a class/an instructor that you like, because it really does pay off.

Lol, thanks Andi and Bailysmomma, I gotta admit, I'm way proud of myself. But I was way tired last night after all, and I pretty much crashed on the couch and didn't want to move after my shower. But it was a good tired.
  • Jillian is in Chicago today. I just saw her on NBC morning news. She was showing how to work out with a partner and was promoting her book. Anyway, if you live in Chicago, you never know, you could run into her today.

I'm going to attempt to go rollerblading today, but we set a record low in Chicago today!!!!! It HAS to warm up before I go.

I'm also doing Pilates this morning. I love Pilates.

Also, I got my fitflops in the mail last night. I wore them to my salon and back (3 blocks away) and yes, I do feel it in my calves a little bit already!
