Default Exercise Challenge for both teams... Need Your Input!

Ok ladies! I'm tearing myself away from Idol to work on this challenge so I can get it out this week or weekend.

Melissa (or Hun.e.b) suggested that we do a mileage challenge like the Blue Team did last challenge but do it to popular vacation spots!

The obvious places like disney world and the grand canyon will be included, but I'm looking for some other ideas and even some off the map ones.

Just need the vacation spot and the city and state it's located in.

Thanks!

Okay, my husband was picking on me today because I've never been to the Statue of Liberty (NY, NY) and I've lived in NY State most of my life -- I'd like to go there!! How far do we want to go? Could we make it to another country or just sticking to our own? Niagara Falls, Canada maybe?

A cross country challenge that we all added to would be cool. Or to go the whole length of Route 66, something like that. I noticed a team challenge to travel around the world on another thread ... that might be fun ...

Shelby - Niagara Falls ON is about an hour from me by car (and my mom is from there) so it wouldn't be too ambitious for me personally. (Unless I actually tried to walk there ) But depending where we started it might make a great challenge goal!

Oh Route 66 is a very cool idea!!

Some other vacation spots off the top of my head are Mt. Rushmore, Yellowstone Park, any of the 6 Flags spots, Mall of America, The Alamo.

I know there are tons more!

Venice Beach in Venice, Ca.

Head north along Pacific Coast Highway and stop at Big Sur.

Once we get around the Grand Canyon - make a some stops in Prescott and Sedona.

maybe im just having an off day but.... im going to need some explaining

is this challenge geared towards how many miles we walk or run to get to said destination? I noticed "mileage" in the challenge.

Because I am doing a lot more working out and cardio rather than hitting the pavement and tracking my walks....I have had TERRIBLE luck with pedometers and just dont use them anymore Ive tried the cheap ones and ive tried the expensive ones and for whatever reason they just end up frustrating me more than motivating me. So I would like to suggest *assuming it is only a mileage challenge* that we stick with maybe minutes distance rather than mileage. I noticed the red team last challenge or so did the driving distance from NYC to LA and tried to get to how many minutes of driving time it took as their challenge. I feel like tracking minutes would work for EVERYONES exercise needs rather than just those who walk or run.

Is this making sense? or am I reading it wrong?

Someone shed some light!!! lol

Hey still love cartoons! last time we did this challenge, we had something set up where X minutes of exercise equaled Y amount of miles. And I believe we also had other things that translated to miles as well : So much water drank equaled so many miles. I'm sure Chellez has more details than I do

I'm going to Puerto Vallarta in Mexico for my vacation this year let's go there

Generally what we do is for example say....15 minutes of cardio = 1 mile. That way everyone gets included. If someone tracks miles run they count the miles and if someone tracks minutes they do the conversion.

Thanks ladies

Well that makes sense.... and I had a feeling it would work out where everyone would benefit... Im assuming then when the challenge is announced officially we'll have the list of conversions and such so.......

IM IN!!!! bring it on

I'm glad y'all answered her question too, cuz I was also confused but I thought maybe it was just me, LOL! I do a lot of cardio and weight lifting, bike riding (when it get's fixed) and swimming (laps), so I guess I will be able to convert those activities from minutes done to Y-amount of miles too...right?

Yeah, last time I think we did 20 minutes = 1 mile. So, you could either use your mileage, or convert based on minutes if you did other exercises. I am sure chellez will do something similar this time, though I am not sure what the conversion will be. I am sure she will announce it once the challenge is set to begin.

It sounds like fun, I can't wait! We should hit Vegas while we are out!

It will be 20 mins = 1 mile again

We are going to Nashville for our honeymoon (since we can't afford 1000 tickets to fly to vegas ) so I know thats one vacation spot

I'm also putting the bahamas on there.

You can include out of country stuff too... Just remember the farther away it is the harder you have to work to get there

Are we doing this as a team like we all start at point A and and everyone keeps subtracting until we get to point B then we choose a new place or do we choose our own?
