Megan....let's take a vote here. I think even thou your weight can't count with the weigh ins....but I would like you be very much a part of the team. I think we should allow your workouts to count. What does everyone else think?

I'll try to make it more often to post exercise mins. I'm consistent with exercise as long as it is a workday - probably because I exercise during the middle of the workday for a nice break. Hoping for some good results in weeks to come!!! |

More facts about Hawaii
Here are Hawaian facts. Sorry I didn't get any yesterday. Was a busy busy day.
1.) The Hawaiian Islands are the Earth's most isolated parcels of land lying in the middle of the North Pacific Ocean some 2400 miles from both the nearest continental land mass, North America, and other islands of Polynesia in the South Pacific Ocean. 2.) Owing to their isolation, the Hawaiian Islands are biologically unique. They were colonized initially only by the relatively few species of plants and animals that were suitably adapted for the long journey over 2400+ miles of open ocean. Hawaii has no native land reptiles or amphibians and only two native mammals, the horay bat and monk seal. Even in the surrounding ocean the number of coral species are limited and nearly 25% of inshore fishes are endemic (i.e., found only in Hawaiian waters). Over 4300 species of plants and animals exist only in the eight high islands. The 1000 native plants evolved from as few as 280 original plant colonists and 100 endemic bird species developed from as few as 15 original aviators. 3.) The Islands of Hawaii were one of the last places on Earth discovered and occupied by humans. There is little or no evidence of human contact of any kind before about 100 AD. The first significant colonies, made by ocean voyaging Polynesians, were not established until around 400-600 AD. Modern contact was not made until only 220 years ago when Captain James Cook first encountered Kauai on January 19, 1778. |

I'm back! I'm posting my total from my trip (180 min) and from today (90 minutes --I got my husband to take a 3.5 mi walk with the girls earlier, plus I took them for a short walk later. Oh - and yoga, 10...make it 100 minutes).
So: 791 - 280 = 511 Yay! I'm so glad to be back with you all !!! |
Welcome back, Choose. Missed you.

We are flying around the world. We are taking the route M. Garratt took several years back. We are flying in a Mooney aircraft. Once we finish the leg to Hawaii we will be off to Am Samoa. 2257 nautical miles. If you are like me....you have no idea where that is or what it is. I will be posting some info once we start that leg.
We are almost to HA. YAY. |

I have a new pedometer that differentiates between activity steps and aerobic steps. I've worn a pedometer for almost 7 years now...for the first 6 I wore one from walkerswarehouse.com/prevention (it was a shared brand - I probably wore out one a year or so), then this year I tried one from weight watchers...I loved that one but the clip broke within a month...and now this one from Omron. What an eye opener. All steps are not created equal, and this has me looking for aerobic exercise rather than just counting my 10-15K. I also like the clip and leash it has better than the others, less likely to break (that's the part that usually goes for me). I wear it everyday, so that's important to me. OH! This one claims it can be carried in your bag and still count the steps, rather than just clipped to your hip. OK, enough about that. Move it! |
oops....forgot to post last night. It was a busy day. So...for yesterday :
241-30=211 |
211 - 30 = ummmm...181?
cat between me and the calculator and you know I'm bad at math. Hugs! |
I did two 30-minute step classes this week.
161-60 = 101! |
61-40 (20 today and yesterday)=21
Who is going to get us into Hawaii? FYI next leg is from Hawaii to Am Samoa 2257 nautical miles. |
2257-30=2227 I will try tomorrow to find some facts about Am Samoa. I have no idea where it is.

Facts about Am Somoa
American Samoa became a U.S. Territory in 1900, and is the only U.S. Territory south of the equator. It is geographically and culturally part of the Samoan Islands, most of which are part of the independent country of Samoa, formerly known as Western Samoa. The natural history of Samoa is fascinating, and provides many opportunities for original research. For example, corals are far more diverse in the Samoan Islands than in the Hawaiian Islands, yet much less research is done there than in Hawai'i. Thus American Samoa provides a logical location for coral scientists and students, especially those based in Hawai'i, to conduct research projects. Furthermore, the American Samoa Coral Reef Advisory Group encourages and facilitates coral-related research. |
It sounds so pretty.
