Flamanette...I read somewhere that olive oil leeches some of the nutrients out of the tuna so when you drain the liquid the tuna is less nutritious than if you bought it packed in water. I'd keep buying it in water if I were you.

You can easily replace the fat in your diet with mayonnaise, butter, and olive oil on your veggies/salads etc.

Good luck to you!
Evry1smom....its so nice to see someone about the same as me here! For some reason makes it a little easier to relate. And thanks for the props, honestly if I can get around 150 I will be happy, I know those last 10-15 lbs are not going to be easy.
Lets see, right now this is what my diet consists of:
Breakfast: egg omelette with turkey, small amt of cheese and peppers, onions
Coffee, with whole cream.
Lunch: Ground turkey with homemade salsa.
Snack: pepperoni slices or canned tuna w/parm cheese
Dinner: Roasted Chicken or Top Sirloin with zucchini, spinach, mushrooms and peppers sauteed in a pat of butter.

That is a basic day. I also found low carb, high fiber, high protein wraps and occasionally I will have my dinner made into a burrito, that seems to take away any carby type cravings that I get. I have also been drinking nothing but water throughout the day and average between 64-90 ounces.

Any help with my diet would be much appreciated! I haven't been "treating" myself much that I can think of, if I get into a bind I will eat one of the atkins bars for one of my snacks but try not to do that very often either.

Hi-yo. I'm trying to do an Atkins, or a very low-carb paleo. Today was my first perfect "induction" day because I've been struggling with a bit of hypoglycemia. I went from a high-sugar diet on Saturday, so that is understandable. (I don't have diabetes.)

I'm really excited to be here!

Cool

Hi everyone! I started induction on Jan17th and plan to stick around in it for a little while as I'm trying to (eventually) lose about 70lbs. After Wk1 I'm down 5.4lbs!! Not too shabby.

I've found that it's easier for me to get to 11-15g of NC in veggies if I actually plan my meals around the vegetable rather than the meat, etc. Since I started doing that I haven't had much issue hitting 13-14NC in veg by treating them as the main course and my meat as the side item.

Oh and I can laugh about it now, but I really didn't believe I was gonna fall victim to the Flu like I've heard others talk about...till couple days ago. I figured I was getting enough sodium (I'm tracking more than the RDA) but sure enough I started feeling the symptoms pretty bad. I upped my water another 16.9oz and ran out and bought REAL salt (I normally used Salt Sense) and a big bottle of regular soy sauce. Feelin' MUCH better today after a Tbsp of soy sauce over my turkey breast

Glad I found this group. U guys rock!

Hey Everyone! Wanted to let you all know that I am still kickin'; been experiencing some personal difficulties and not been able to come here much in the last few days. I am very much on plan however, and earned my second bead as of this morning

Glad to see our little group is picking up members still!

I wish everyone a great weekend, and good grief, it's almost time to start the February thread -- Holy Wo!

Hi I started Induction this morning and so far so good. I notice slight carb withdrawal but not too severe right now.

RoLo, that's really interesting about now feeling well and added salt. I'm so happy that made you feel better. It's really amazing sometimes about how something that you are told is so "bad" is actually necessary.

I actually have had low sodium 6 mos. ago as part of some adrenal fatigue, and even now it's in the low-normal range. I have to use quite a bit of salt to keep in range. I think salt might possibly be one of those things that is falsely vilified like saturated fat and cholesterol, but I'm not as up on it.

Good morning all! Last night I had a dream that I inhaled a bunch of cookies. I was so mad at myself. What a relief to wake up and realize it wasn't true.

(My BF said he had similar dreams about smoking for years after he quit)

Have a wonderful weekend!

Hey, everyone. Just checkin' in. Today is Day 1 (take 2) for me. So far so good, and none of the hypoglycemia issues I had when I tried this yesterday. I do have a raging headache though from lack of caffeine. Oh well. I've kicked caffeine before and felt better for it, so I can do it again.

Shay, also try drinking a cup of broth (not low sodium). Replacing the sodium seems to help a lot of people out.

Evening Everyone.

I had a pretty good day. I learned about 1 minute mug muffins and experimented in all sorts of ways with them. I've done my exercise for the day. Glad to get it out of the way. Cant wait for at least 20lbs (about 10kg) to come off so my knee joints get some relief. My body is not meant to carry this much weight. So today I ate:

B-2 Eggs, 1 One Minute Mug Muffin, 1.5 Carbs
L-6 oz Fish, Sole, pan fried with butter, 0 Carbs
S- McDonald's Double Cheeseburger, no bun, no pickles, no ketchup (dang that thing was salty though *sad face), 2 Carbs for 2 slices of cheese
D-1 One Minute Mug Muffin, with 2 TBSP Sweetened Cream Cheese, 5 Carbs
S- 1 One Minute Mug Muffin, 1 oz Fish, Sole, 1TBSP Homemade Mayonaise 1.5 Carbs

Total: 10 Carbs

3 Mile Walk (48 minutes)

So I made it through my first day with only one mistake. I was thinking spinach was on the "salad vegetables" list, and I ate 2 cups of spinach yesterday before I realized my mistake. But I'm not stressing over that.

Do you all count carbs while you're on induction? It seems to me that if I follow the rules layed out in the book to the letter, there should be no need. But I would like some advice on this point from you guys that are experienced with this.
