Hi Everybody, Since being on this journey, I have a new way of thinking about food. But every week I stop in the City to get my favorite treat, a Vanilla Cooler from Caribou Coffee. It is 5.5 points for a 16oz glass. AND WORTH EVERY POINT!!! Would like to hear from you, what you treats are.
My favorite treat is a chocolate graham cracker snapped in half with FF cool whip in the center...freeze and OHHHH...it's better than a ice cream sandwich!
My absolute favorite is Skinny Cow Ice Cream Sandwiches. 2 points for a vanilla, 3 for the new Peanut Butter/Chocolate. Can't beat them. Although, Wolfangel, I'm willing to put the chocolate graham cracker/ff Cool Whip to the test.
Wolfangel, how many pts for your chocolate graham cracker treat?
I like to mix 1/2c plain lofat yogurt with 1c frozen berries, and add a little sweetner and vanilla- it is filling and tastes almost like ice cream- way better than those tiny 2 pt yogurts you buy. (But still 2pts)
Also, those Bakers Cookies that Christine posted are EXCELLENT and filling!
My favorite treat is a Double Chocalate Chunk Rice Krispie Treat for 2 points!
I also make the angel food cake mixed with cherry pie filling @ least once a week. Sometimes I top it with a small scoop of ice cream and drizzle choc. on it. Good Eatin!!!
I love the graham cracker and cool whip treats too! I tried the angel food cake mixed with pineapple once, but when I cut it, it was mushy inside! What did I do wrong??
Jlea,
I have two guesses on the mushy pineapple angelfood cake.
!. Did you happen to add the pineapple AND the water
the cake mix calls for? (If you add canned crushed pineapple, that's all you add)
2. Did you happen to cook it for less time than the cakebox suggests?
Other than that, I don't know what might have gone wrong.
No, I didn't add any water, just the crushed pineapple. I cooked it for 30 minutes at 350 degrees. I thought when I took it from the oven it looked undercooked in the middle, but I had never cooked angel food cake so I just wasn't sure.
I will try it again sometime and cook it a little longer. I ate some anyway, around the edges. It was good.
My best chocoholic fix is a No-Pudge Brownie, taken from the freezer, nuked for 10 seconds and topped with Cool Whip Lite. 2 very dense, dark-chocolatey points.
I loooooooooove home-made potato chips - peel shavings off a baking potato, lay them in 1 layer on a plate (for the microwave) or a baking sheet (for the oven), sprinkle with salt/ paprika/garlic salt (whatever tickles your taste buds) and nuke 'em.
Microwave is quicker, oven makes 'em crispier. You have to experiment with timings, etc for perfect crispiness but it is SO worth it!
Points = the same as for plain potato. You get one heck of a lot of chips out of 1 potato, so you could either eat the whole lot for about 2.5, or a 'normal' portion for .5/1.
Lolly, I am definitely going to try your home made potato chips idea. How long do you cook them in the oven for? Not long I guess if they are thin. Yummy.
Chocolate Graham Crackers filled with Cool Whip
Free to which I have added 1 small pkg SF Jello.
Sometimes it is Cherry, Strawberry, Raspberry or
Mixed Fruit. Wrapped in plastic wrap and frozen they are wonderful for dessert or night time snack.
I'm a confirmed chocolate addict, but not just any will do! 3 Dove chocolate squares is 2 points. I break them into quarters and savor them slowly. I can always find room for 2 points!
