I got on the scale today and gained back 5 lbs that i lost. F that. I made eggs and a piece of toast and packed all my food for today. I have to remember why i am doing this. 1200 cals is not enough for me. I just need to figure out what a good number is for me. somewhere between 1500-2000 cals. I work out 5 days a week. i have a goal and im sticking to it.!!!!!!! if anyone has suggestions, anything helps.

Oh no Forget that 5 lbs. You'll lose it again. 1500-2000 sounds a like a good range to stick to. I tend to keep around the 1600-2300 range and it's working for me, but then again I'm a bit heavier than you. I've found that if I exercise before bed, not only do I sleep better but I tend to lose weight better.

Just keep at it and you'll get there. We know you can do it.

Plan all your days...everyday. I started somewhere near where you started probably heavier and with the workouts you need way more than 1200 calories. If your workouts are intense I would do around 1500-1700 calories, no more than 1800. I try not to give myself too wide a range because I forget to stop thinking I have more.

1200 is way too low. I use this formula:

weight x 10 x .75 (75% of my daily calories to maintain) = how much calories to lose weight.

At 270 you can eat 2000 calories a day and lose weight.

I re-evaluate my formula every 10 lbs or so.

Obviously this formula isn't good for someone who weighs 130 lbs and wants to lose weight because you should never go under 1200 calories- but when I started I was 235 and this formula still works.

I'm struggling right now too. However, I refuse for this to be like all the other times...I'm gonna control my wayward mind, and get down to business again!! Let's do it together.

just curious, where did you get that formula from? doing it I get 1462 which seems about right.

1200 cals is way to low if you are working out 5x per week. The best calorie calculator I have found and one that helped me loose 38lbs pounds is

http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie_calculator.htm

I would think between 1800-2000 cals per day and you will still loose. You might be surprised to see that if you even more you will loose more

I often have the same problem... finding the right balance of calories and activity to lose, but not so little that I stall. Unfortunately I have a really hard time eating more than 1400-1500 calories a day at this point, and according to my calculations I should be aiming for 1800-2100. In the rare event that I eat 2100 I tend to feel overfull and uncomfortable. It's frustrating to be always searching for the right balance, but I've gotta find some good calorie-dense but healthy foods to keep incorporating. Hang in there, let us know how it goes upping your calories!
