My dad was called for dury duty a couple of years ago but during the selection interview the defence counsel said no once they found out that he had worked in security situations with the police and RCMP.
I don't think I would like to be on a jury for something major like a violent crime or murder. I get all into it when I watch those true crime shows like American Justice and think "that murdering b!" - I would make a lousy juror - I would probably convict someone just because they smirked during the trial!
That is so typical. 
What a dreadful thing.
