Cool Alternachicks at the movies

Recently saw Starsky & Hutch - cute, funny, no-brainer but 2 hours of Owen Wilson

Saw Secret Window this weekend. It was okay-Johnny Depp was great but some of it was predictable- no big surprises. I would save this one for a cheapie matinee.

We are planning to go see the remake of Dawn of the Dead next weekend I liked the original so I hope this one is good.

Then we have to see VanHelsing with Hugh Jackman, The Punisher & Hellboy - thank goodness the movie prices went down

I guess you saw Titanic one of those times for me, blugirrl. I think I am the only person on the planet who hasn't seen it!

Somebody told me that the boat sinks, so I guess that ruined the plot.

My point exactly.

All kidding aside, I am actually a Titanic buff and find myself glued to every documentary I see on TV about the ship. The last thing I wanted to see was a long fictional account.

I don't usually watch those antique programmes - you know loads of smug people showing off thier antiques and others who impatiently sit where obviously thinking "Shut up! How much is it?!" Well they had a copy of the last menu from the Titanic. NOt a very exciting menu - standard old British fare I think if I can remember but I expect it was considered classy at the time. The funny thing was they had used it to back a picture they had framed! Buggered if I can remeber how much it was going for though.

I too am a Titanic buff and have read books and watched many documentaries. So......you may be the only person who didn't see the movie and I'm one of the many/few who didn't like it. I can't see why they bothered weaving a fictional story into an already tragic and worthy true story. Really bugged me and I only watched it because I was at a friends. Suffice to say that you didn't miss much (in my humble opinion).

Saw Secret Window and, yep, Johnny was great. The story itself wasn't too bad but a little predictable. I'm realling looking forward to Van Helsing with Hugh Jackman. I love anything to do with vampires, etc. and think Bram Stoker's writings are great.

I saw Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Very very good. I'm a huge fan of Kate Winslet and this is just a great storyline. Go see it!

Thumbs up

I went to see "Dawn of the Dead" this weekend - excellent! Very creepy/scary Excellent update of a horror classsic

Peacock- are you asking about the remake of Texas Chainsaw Massacre? If so the new one is actually very scary and not funny (except for a few moments) - I really enjoyed it. This was another remake that I was worried about seeing but turned out to be very good.

I went to see Passion Of The Christ last week....and I went to see Dawn Of The Dead Friday night...both were excellent and well done films...in entirely different ways.

Mauvais...dh is a collector of "cult horror classics" and was thrilled that they were remaking one of his classic favorites. I thought they did a really good job with it, didn't you? In the theatre you were in...was did you experience one part where the entire audience "jumped?" We sure did. We were in the near back...so it was hilarious to see!
