No Cerise you are not :)

Toxic people are people who always make demands on you and wanting your help but never returning the favor. You are always there for them but they are never there for you. They also have nothing positive to say about anything and usually are complaining about everything under the sun and constantly ***ching about everthing. They seem to suck up all of your time and energy and then you start feeling dragged down.

When it is not enjoyable to be around them, they drain you emotionally and mentally and you start avoiding their phone calls it is time to let go.

sflake 09-18-2003 12:04 PM

Cerise asking questions or asking for advice does not make you a toxic person. My "toxic" friend never has anything to say to anyone about anything other than herself. For example if I tell her I'm lost 16 pounds, there is no comment whatsoever, no good for you, nothing. She will say something like Well I did this or I did that. If you call her upset about something, she has no words of comfort its always about her. I think a toxic person is someone who has forgotten that friendship is a 2way street. I don't mind being there for her when she needs support but damn it I want some to! So no sweetie I would not call you toxic :D

sflake 09-18-2003 12:07 PM

Well put mauvais, I tended to ramble on :)

Cerise 09-18-2003 12:54 PM

Sflake, you weren't rambling! You and Mauvais cleared it up perfectly for me. Thank you both!

Goddess Jessica 09-18-2003 04:43 PM

Speaking of toxic people....

I know you guys have heard me complain about this before but the office manager that is always watching what *I* eat is at it again. Today, I was back in my office, eating Lean Cuisine Mac & Cheese.

Her: Oooooo... what are you eating?
Me: (Rolling my eyes) Mac & Cheese.
Her: Mac & Cheese?
Me: Uh huh... it's good.
Long Pause as she eyeballs me and the mac & cheese.
Her: Is it dietetic?

Now, tell me how this is any of her business?!??!! She drives me so freaking crazy. I know I shouldn't let it get to me and I know I should respond with, "WHy do you ask?" But I'm always baffled when it happens so I'm always caught with my mouth hanging open and answer her questions. I'm rude and blunt 99% of the time, how come when the little old office manager is unbelievably nosy, I can't tell her to bug off???

Jennifer - I grandmother used to tell me if you found the egg shells in the egg salad that you got a wish. :) I don't know how she learned to be so good with kids but instead of getting grossed out by eggshells we were envious of other kids who found them!

dentrassi 09-18-2003 04:47 PM

Cerise-Sflake and Mauvais are right sweetie. My toxic friend rambled on about minor flaws in her wedding plans right after I had found the courage to tell her I had been thinking about suicide. (Thankd GOODNESS I had other people I could talk to!!!) She also used to put me on hold and forget I was there, but get angry if I hung up. She thought she should even come before my DH and kids!!! (Now mind you, if any of my friends are having a crisis I drop everything for them, but I'm talking on a day to day basis!!!)

2Dog-WOW! You have to work with yours?!? How difficult!!

Suzanne and Jennifer-Funny story about the dinner! A friend of mine worked for Kentucky Fried Chicken as a teen and lost MOST of her nails (stick on) in the batter one day!!! ANOTHER reason not to eat fried foods!!! A few drinks and who cares what is in it anyway!! I love seeing you two talk about your childhood! I don't get to see my sis too often, and miss that between visits!!

Wildfire-My sister's girlfriend lives in North Carolina, but not close enough to the coast to evacuate. We're hoping things aren't too bad there, because she is still pretty close.

Jessica-The party sounds GREAT!!!! I ONLY like gin martinis though!!! Ended up having some Single Malt instead.....YEEHAW!!! My Dad was asking us (sis and me) how we wanted it. When we both said "neat" and "straight up" he looked at my Mom and said, "We raised them right sweetie!"

Ellis-You should SEE him!! THEN you'd understand!!! Today he stood on my tummy, held my hands and bounced repeatedly while giggling!!!! (MAN, he is strong. Very small and COMPACT. My arms were sore afterwards!!!) The kids were great with him. DS13 got down on the floor and played with him. Even my 16 year old (who is VERY concerned with his sense of dignity right now) put on a small silly hat, and let his cousin take it off, and then PUT IT BACK ON REPEATEDLY when the little guy indicated he should!!!

Sflake-We put Sergeant Pepper on today, raising the next generation right!!!

flower 09-18-2003 04:47 PM

Gosh you chicks are chatty this week! I got dh to put together my gym! I mean it has only been sitting in a pile on the garage floor for 9 monthes! We just need to attach the cables and I will join you for reals! He put a rubber garage mat underneath too. We set up an area for Grif to color and play with playdoh while we are occupied too. Progress, no matter how slow, is always a good thing!

dentrassi 09-18-2003 04:51 PM

Jessica-We were posting at the same time! Your Grandmother sounds GREAT!! That is a wonderful way to handle it!!! Your office manager, on the other hand, sounds COMPLETELY inappropriate. I know what you mean about feeling shocked. it is always easier to think of things to say LATER. I know that is one of your favorites, and she probably messed it up for you today. What a B!TCH (and i DON'T mean that in the nice way.)

dentrassi 09-18-2003 04:52 PM

Flower-and YOU posted while I was posting the 2nd post!! Sounds like you are getting a lot of good things done! How was Grif's birthday? (It was recently, right?)

squeaker 09-18-2003 08:33 PM

First off Jennifer & Suzanne - you two are a riot!!!

Twodog - How do you deal with your toxic person?? I work with mine too. Oh and - poof - You are 28 again! :wizard:

Ellis - Yup, I really was 21 for my first kiss. But being that age, I had my first kiss, my first tounge kiss, and general make out session all in one night. :D I have only ever kissed 2 guys (and they are friends). And I like your advice about the toxic friend too. Did the vitamin go ok this time? ;)

Sflake - I love your description of a toxic person. I should print it out and tape it to the person's desk. And Mauvais's description too. Is that over doing it? ;)

Wildfire - Love the ideas for Mauvais's zen pond. Hope you get some sleep!

Den - Promises, Promises (re:spanking  ) Glad the visit is going so well.

Ruth - Glad you are having a better day! And nope, no icky sweet, just a bunch of smartasses.

Jessica - While I normally don't advocate violence, I would smack that woman silly next time. Your party sounds wonderful!!

Cerise - visions of Carrie popped in my head with the "dirty pillows" comment.

Ok this is really late but - Hi Annex!

Hi Flower! :) Congrats on the gym.

Gotta go get a few things done...
:mouse:

Jennifer 3FC 09-18-2003 09:44 PM

Suzanne and I actually didn't get along growing up. Well, not until I was a teenager and became 'cool' instead of the irritating little sister. She tortured me up until then. Really!

Suzanne 3FC 09-18-2003 10:40 PM

Jennifer didn't need me growing up. She was too busy playing with her invisible friend MICHAEL JACKSON

You were cool?

dentrassi 09-18-2003 10:55 PM

HAHAHAHA!!! My sister and I were a lot like you two!! (Actually we fought A LOT!!!) Now she IS pretty cool though.....for a younger sister!!!!

HI SQUEAK!!!!!

Jennifer 3FC 09-19-2003 12:28 AM

GASP!!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe you told about Mikey. I don't even remember that! I think you made it up. Hmmm - have you seen the commercial for The Fighting Temptations with Beyonce and Cuba Gooding? He thinks back, and remembers her telling him when they were about 6 that she was breaking up with him because she was going to marry Michael Jackson, then they show her 20 years later, and she is BEYONCE singing in an evening gown. So, remember that when you make fun of me! Just forget the part that I can't sing, and I look more like Divine in an evening gown instead of Beyonce.

Thanks for not telling them about my love letter to Mac Davis in the 2nd grade. I owe you one. :s:

   OMG, you don't know HOW many times I wanted to mention the resemblance!!! Thanks for lifting that off my chest

twodogmom 09-19-2003 07:30 AM

Den and Squeak, how do I deal with working with my toxic person? Not very well lately, I have to admit. Sometimes I can let things roll off my back, and sometimes I can't. This person loves to stir things up and cause trouble and discontent between people....is a pathological liar and always wants to be the center of attention. She loves to try to get people upset with each other, and gets people to confide in her and then runs to the next person and tells what was said, with a lot of embellishments. She is the most TOXIC person I know, and I was good friends with her until I saw what she was like....she is so good at sucking you in that you don't see right away her true colors. More people are starting to see now, but many are still sucked in by her. She LOVES to play the martyr and victim, making everyone else out to be the villian.

OK, there was originally a lot more to this post, but I just deleted three long paragraphs before submitting this. I just needed to vent I guess, and get it all out, to help me feel a little better. This has been a week from ****.........

On Wednesday we had a thunderstorm, and a person who works here (I don't know her personally) was struck by lightening in our parking lot as she was walking out to her car!!! She's alive, but how scary is that? Especially considering that I left work at about the same time she did....except I was in the back parking lot and she was in the front one, so I didn't see it happen. But it could have been me!!

Have to get to work, have a nice Friday all!

mauvaisroux 09-19-2003 07:38 AM

Sounds like you are having a bad week at work twodog :grouphug:

That is so scary about your co-worker getting struck by lightning!
How awful!

dentrassi 09-19-2003 07:46 AM

GEEZ 2DOG!! how scary is that!!! Hope your poor injured co-worker is okay. Hope the other one slips on a banana peel!!!:cb: :cb: :cb:
I HATE it when people do that!!!!

Jennifer-Personally I LOVE Divine's look!!! (I'd look more like a cross between an apple and an oompah loompah myself!!!)

sflake 09-19-2003 08:10 AM

I am sooo not having a good day, MIL had to put her dog down, cancer. So sad. he was such a good freind. I just fell at work and dumped coffee all over myself and to top it off I went to the atm this morning and it gave me no money but deducted it from my account. Now I have to wait until they balance the machine to see if they are out of balance by $400.00. Its a good thing I don't own a gun! Oh yeah and I think I'm getting the flu.

ellis 09-19-2003 08:31 AM

Oh my gosh... we're all a MESS!
Twodog, you're just gonna have to take out a contract on that woman. Either that or see an exorcist. You vent anytime, hon. And you don't have to keep it short, either. :grouphug:

Jennifer and Suzanne, we're just going to have to get you two your own thread. You're hilarious!

Den, how's the baby boy? :)
Does it make you want to have another?

Sflake, what are you doing to yourself, sweetie! We're DEFINITELY going to have a call in an exorcist for YOU! You've been possessed! Hugs... :grouphug:

love to all...
xoxo

Ruthxxx 09-19-2003 08:39 AM

This is the nuttiest group on the Net! I LMAO when I read in here. And not a damn bit of sweetness and light and daily inspiration! I love it!

squeaker 09-19-2003 08:40 AM

Sorry you are having such a bad day Sflake. :grouphug:

Twodog - Are you sure you don't work in my office??? hope your other co-worker is ok.

sflake 09-19-2003 09:21 AM

Thanks kids,

2dog :yikes: that lightening thing must have you freaked out! Stay safe and vent anytime (((Hugs)))As for your &^&$^#$#$ co-worker try this www.pinstruck.com hehehe

ellis 09-19-2003 11:35 AM

Oh, boy! Voodoo curses! It doesn't go with my Christian religion, but what the ****. Hold me back!!

Jennifer 3FC 09-19-2003 04:49 PM

Re: Divine

Den: Thanks, Pal!! ;)

Suzanne: :blah:

twodogmom 09-21-2003 07:32 AM

Thanks for the hugs ladies, I needed them more than you know. :(

Den, you are way to nice! A banana peel?? That's not enough!

sflake, I'm sorry you had such a rough day. :grouphug: I hope you managed to avoid that nasty flu! I loved the website, I'm seriously thinking I need to try that!!!

Ellis, do you have the name of a good hit man? If you do, send it my way.

Squeak, there's another toxic one out there like mine? :yikes: Now that's scary!! Do you want to borrow my hit man when I'm done with him?

Hi Mauvais and Ruth and everyone else. I hope you are having a nice weekend.

A positive side to my really bad week.....I haven't had much appetite so haven't eaten a whole lot this past week.....and I'm hoping that will be reflected on the scale when I step on it tomorrow. This is actually a breakthrough for me, as I'm an emotional eater, and in my previous life I would immediately turn to comfort food when stressed or upset or angry or hurt or......

A girl that works in the same place I do is Miss ND, and was in the Miss America pageant last night. I normally hate that pageant stuff and don't watch it, but of course had to tune in last night. She didn't make it into the first cut of 15, so I turned it off after that. I'm thinking that must make me a little hypocritical, not liking beauty pageants but then thinking it would be cool if Miss America came not only from my town but from my workplace! Hmmmmmmmm

ellis 09-21-2003 09:35 AM

Twodog, that sounds pretty hypocritical to me. I can relate, though. To my disgust, I've watched the Oscars for the last two years. JUST to see the outfits! :yikes:
Listen, hon, I don't have the name of a good hit man, but I DO have the name of a good hit WOMAN! :D
Glad to hear you haven't been eating emotionally. I hope this week is much better for you. :grouphug:

Sflake, are you okay? I hope you didn't catch the flu. :(

So? Where the heck is everyone!?

I was up at 5 to pee, said prayers for all of you, then fell back to sleep until 9. Yikes!
DH is taking the children to church, and I am going to have a delightful time to myself. So please... no phone calls. And don't be knockin' on my door, either, huh? Unless you want to see my true colours.

squeaker 09-21-2003 10:47 AM

I'll take the hit man after you are done Twodog. ;) She lies to your face, is always the victim, nothing is ever her fault, will back stab anyone if it gets her ahead, and manages to make you feel bad for being legitimately angry with her.

I am here Ellis. At work actually. :p Was suppose to come in for a few minutes to run a test, but everything is backed up so I am trying to get a few other things done.

Love the site Sflake.

Hello to the rest of the chicks!

squeaker 09-22-2003 01:30 PM

Ok, so I am replying to myself. :)

Hi everyone! How is everyone?

Things here are quiet but good. The diet has been shot for today, but thats ok. My stomach was growling so loud in my last meeting, that my co-worker across the table heard!

ellis 09-22-2003 01:37 PM

Oh, dear... here I am, Squeak! You should put a little something into that growly tummy. :D

I've done really well dieting and exercising today, but now I'm getting tired, and all I want to do is lie down with a book, a bag of chips, and a bag of bridge mixture. If only it were bedtime. Really, the day is MUCH too long.

Ruthxxx 09-22-2003 01:45 PM

Hi there, Squeak. Better stop talking to yourself!
Ellis, no chips or B. mix! If I can do a day without jujubes, you can do a day without chips or B mix! Have a nap, honey.
Hey, can I borrow your hit-person? There is someone I need to have taken down a notch or two!

dentrassi 09-22-2003 06:30 PM

HI!!!
I had a GREAT visit with my nephew and sister. Sad AND glad to see them go as I REALLY need to work more. Got 4 hours in today even though DS13 came home sick. I NEED TO GET BACK ON TRACK!!!!

Goddess Jessica 09-22-2003 07:00 PM

Hi ladies!

The party was grand! I can't wait to show you the pics but we've misplaced the digital camera somewhere. We had about 30 people show up (which was way more than I expected). And the cake didn't last long. Woo hoo!

The day after my party, the owner of the vintage clothing shop in front of our house was attacked by a crazy man. He stabbed her in the head (3 staples) and she blocked with her arm (2 staples), so obviously he wasn't particularly good at attacking people but needless to say, we were all pretty shook up. I live down an alley so we're kinda out of the way and open to stuff like this but my house is hidden so I usually don't worry about it. Now, I'm a bit more nervous going from my car to the gate.

Also, my boyfriend, his friend and I went swimming and they wouldn't listen to me when we got caught in a riptide. So, while I was swimming safely to shore, the Baywatch Girls were rescuing them. It scares me that my self-preservation instinct is that strong that I didn't go back for them.

I gained 5 fraking pounds over the weekend. It must have been the martinis.

Jennifer 3FC 09-22-2003 08:26 PM

Wow Jessica, what a weekend! I hope your neighbor is ok. Is there a lot of crime in your town? Glad your men are ok - they'll learn to listen to you one of these days! Looking forward to the pictures. :D

squeaker 09-23-2003 08:25 AM

Unfortunately I shut my stomach up with french fries & a steak wrap. :o Today will be a better day.

And the day is way too long Ellis.

Who are you trying to knock of Ruth? Hope things are going ok.

Very glad the visit went well Den! Now get to work :drill: ;)

Jessica - Glad the party went well. Is your neighbor doing ok? How scary. Glad the boys are ok, though you need to give them a kick in the butt. ;)

ellis 09-23-2003 08:54 AM

Oh, Ruth... I screwed up! Chips and chocolate rosettes. Damn. I'm glad YOU had a good day, Miss Gin and Tonic. ;)

Den, is little DS okay? Glad you had a good visit, hon. Now get back on track!! :drill:

Jessica, what a stressful time you've had! :grouphug:

Squeak, let's make it a 12 hour day. Please. :D

Hey Jen!
Hey everyone. :grouphug:

dentrassi 09-23-2003 05:17 PM

Got a bead order in which is always "Do it double time, do it perfect and have it done the day before yesterday." Once I'm done here it'll be back to work (brought some home with me.) Went to Wendy's drive thru with the kids after I picked them up from school. Got a salad and a diet coke. DS went back to school and came out saying he felt great. SO.....I'm back to work with a vengeance!!!

Hope you are all hanging in there, and Jessica.....PICS!! WE WANT PICS!!!
(Guys can be morons sometimes, huh?!)

Jennifer 3FC 09-23-2003 11:08 PM

Jessica, I have criminal acts right near me too....seems the old lady next door was moved into a nursing home. Last night somebody stole her car. I think they might have broken into her house, also. The police rang my bell at 2:30 this morning wanting to know what I knew about my neighbor. At the time I thought she had died (sad, I know - I don't know my neighbors) but wasn't sure. Her car was found abandoned in the middle of the road, out of gas. Seems her door was unlocked at home, too. CREEPY! I look over into her DARK back yard every night. Her house is just about 20 feet from mine, and was broken into . Just makes me feel 'violated'.

squeaker 09-24-2003 08:26 AM

Checking in for this morning. :)

Working from home for a bit, then off to the dentist. :p
Who ever is out side mowing the lawn, just sounded like he hit the building. :o

Got to actually go to the office after the dentist. I think I like being home better. This why when I yell "you idiot" after reading an email, no one can hear me. There is one woman I deal with who at first, made me feel like a complete idiot, and incompetent, which I am not. Now she is just p:censored:ing me off.

Good morning alternachicks!

ellis 09-24-2003 08:35 AM

Geez. I thought I lived in a bad neighbourhood! :yikes:

Hey, Squeak.
We'll put her on our "hit list". :D
