No. I'm dead. Your suggestion came too late. (bread. Ha! You just want me to be FAT! )
|
Listen freshy, I never said it had to be white bread.;)
|
Hi girls!
I haven't posted much (I know, you've missed me) because of school. I've been swamped with projects and this damn job gets in the way of doing my homework. :) Ellis - Where exactly did you lodge this "vitamin?" Squeak - I'd like to be older than 11. I don't think I had a clue about sex at 11. Or at least I didn't want anything to do with it. I'm getting ready for a kick-*** party this weekend. My Cute Boyfriend turn 30! We're throwing a "Swank Lounge Party" with lots of lounge music, martinis flowing freely and some fattening appetizers (so far, crossiants stuffed with Brie and Cuban Shrimp and potato puffs are on the menu). I'm trying to figure out what to wear. I'm so excited! The last party, I was too busy playing hostess to get properly smashed. I'm determined to do it differently this time. :hat: |
Did I hear right? Do you gals have a book club going?
Eliz |
Well sort of! It's not an officially organized club we just chat about what books we have read, enjoyed and recommend. I will bump up the thread for you :)
|
Thanks so much mauvais:)
Eliz |
You're welcome. We have a movie thread too if you are interested :)

Jennifer-I am sorry!! I mean your Aunt and Uncle!!! Ellis is right. I had only had a half a cup of coffee. I am PATHETIC in the morning. (and some days that lasts until noon or later!!!)
Ellis-SO WHY AREN'T YOU HERE MAKING IT FOR ME?!?! You know how I am.....if I do it myself I may grind my hand along with the coffee..... Sflake-This will be the second time I have seen him (went to visit in May when Sis got him) so I am EXCITED!!! he is a real cutie pie!!! I agree about medical emergencies by the way. Some nice French bread and butter would SURELY get that vitamin pill out of there!!! Mauvais-Has anything improved at work or is it basically the same? Jessica-I can't tell you where that pill is lodged because Mauvais would have to censor it. Have fun at the party!!! |
Den, what have you got... one of those "hand grinders"? Or do you grind your beans in a meat grinder.
And no... the vitamin was NOT stuck there! It was in my esophagus, you rude girls. Hey, have fun with your sis and nephew!! :hat: Jessica, what a cool idea for a party! :smoking: Sflake, what a bunch of whingers! Want me to come over and "heal them"? :D Mauvais, is someone new in the book section? How exciting... I'll be right over... |
You know what I love? Pomegranates.
|
Work is about the same. I am trying to have a positive attitude and not let things get to me :)
I have a lovely mini calming pond that a friend gave me :D at my desk now to help me zen out when things get rough  |
Jessica, I didn't know about sex at 11 either...not really. I DID have my first 'real kiss' the summer before I turned 12. ( I hope my parents don't surf this site, they'll both have heart attacks) I thought I knew allllllll about what to do. The boy and I (he was a much worldlier 15) both were nervous, and he brought a roll of wintergreen certs. We ate them ALL. We'd almost kiss and then go back for another cert. My tongue and lips were numb by the time he kissed me. Whew, whenever I taste wintergreen, Scottie comes to mind!
Mauv, what did I miss about work? Is your boss still mad at you for standing up for yourself? I must have missed the day after... My branch just got sold. The one boss I still work for, but all of our other bosses will no longer be our masters in a couple of months. I'm more worried about insurance coverage, and losing 6 weeks of vacation a year, though! That pomegranate...when I first saw it, I said Ewww, why did somebody post a pic of an ovary! |
I didn't know about sex at 11 either. I didn't have my first REAL kiss until I was 21. :o
As for how I got to be 11 again. One of the women in my office picked how old she wanted to be. She then decides how old the rest of us are in comparison. If you are in your 40s, you get to be 28. Younger then that - teens or younger. Works for me :) And I am the youngest because I can still pass for a kid sometimes. Glad work is a little better Mauvais. :) The pond sounds nice. Jesssica - The party sounds like a lot of fun! Den - Tell us where the pill is anyway. SFlake is right, you girls are full of something. Advice is just one of the things. ;) Ellis - thanks for the yoga advice. I called our Y and I think I am going to go in tomorrow to check it out and sign up. As for my dilemma, it is a long story - but the short version is dealing with someone who drains people. The person is trying to make things better, but the gestures are also self serving. The last one was very nice, and I am having a hard time being upset, even though I should be. Gotta hop in the shower, and go to bed. Hi to the rest of the chicks! |
Oh geez, Squeak. A drainer. Those are the WORST!! Paint a large "NO!" on your forehead. Or if that's too subtle, how about "EFF OFF!"
Squeak, me too with the kiss! 21!! Geepers! I thought I was the only one! It was damned good, too. Worth waiting for. :) Jennifer, that is absolutely disgusting. (pomegranate) ;) |
My first real kiss ( not the icky embarrassing quickie kiss while playing spin the bottle) was when I was 14.
Jen- you are a dirty girl :nono: I thought the pomegranate was just a pomegranate - how naive of me  |
Squeak, I love your age thing! I'm 28 again.... now wave your magic wand and make it true! ;)
Ellis, have you dislodged your vitamin yet? Don't ya know you're supposed to swallow them with water? sflake, I hope you're staying safe and dry! Have the sickies recovered yet? I hope you don't get what they have. Jessica, your swank lounge party sounds fabulous!! What a fun idea! Den, have you had your coffee yet this morning? Have a great time with your nephew! Mauvais, your calming pool at your desk sounds wonderful. I have a little fountain in my office, and the sound of running water can be so soothing (unless of course I have to pee, which happens often lately because of all the water I've been drinking)! Jennifer, your comment about the pomegranate cracked me up! I looked again at the picture, but just don't see what you're seeing!! My first kiss was when I was about 12 or 13 so, I can't remember exactly, but I do remember it was disgusting!! It was with an older boy, and I was expecting a chaste closed-mouth little peck type of thing and he came at me with his wet gaping open mouth!! Ewwww! :p I'm surprised I ever kissed anyone again! |
First real kiss, I was 13.
Squeak Toxic people are the worst, be strong. I am distancing myself from one now. Its hard because actually we have been friends since kindergarten, but its always about her. She brings nothing to the table for anyone else but herself. When I need a friend it somehow gets turned around to be all about her. It took me many years to come to terms with it. |
 Today is a much better day than yesterday. Let's hope it's a trend.
I love reading this Forum. No icky sweet stuff - just straight (?) alternachickchat! I don't have time to comment on everychick but I sure do read and get a major giggle. :grouphug: |
Jennifer, my first kiss was in the 7th grade. I let Billy Somebody kiss me after school and he used his tongue, much to my suprise. I broke up with him right there and went home and brushed my teeth for about an hour.
 |
morning all :)
|
Hmmm. That reminds me. I was kissed by a boy in grade 3. In the school yard. I punched him in the face, and threw him to the ground. My Mother; who was my teacher that year (damnit!), gave me a detention.
What's the matter, Ruth? You don't want any sugar with your coffee? :D |
LMAO at Ellis and her undercurrents. Nope. Gimme Scotch!
|
Good morning, Annex!
|
Quote:
got the coffee ready? :) |
I just got back from the Y, Annex. I'm going to grind my beans right now! Come on over. And bring NY with you. :D
|
Quote:
you know that if I bring NY I'm gonna have to bring Isabel (weather news) with me lol |
Ellis-SURE! YOU'LL GRIND BEANS WITH ANNEX, but with ME you're all like, "Go ahead, grind up your hand, see if I care!!!" Seriously though.....No, we have a safety grinder that only works with the top on, but I'm so out of it in the morning I figured I'd probably find a way to shred my hand SOMEHOW!!! (I once grated my finger along with some cheese.....)
Annex-Take Isabel with you, Ellis LOVES surprise guests!!! Ruth-Today we need to talk about tolerance.....RRRIIIPPPPP........(sound of needle being pulled off record.) MARTINIS!!!! Haven't had any in YEARS and my sis loves 'em, so guess what I'll be having sometime while she is here!!!! Squeak-Ellis' pill was stuck in her THROAT you naughty girl.....You need a spanking!!! I didn't get my coffee until I got to my parents' house. it is a miracle i got there alive. When we got to the airport we IMMEDIATELY got more. Nephew is bigger than last time I saw him (DUH!!) and still a sweet little guy. Can't wait for my boys to meet him tonight!!! Sflake-I had to make the same decision about a good (ex) friend of mine. When the relationship is damaging it needs to stop. Doesn't make it easy though!!!! |
ooooo la la! I've never had a martini! (didn't even taste WINE until I was about 24) I've been looking for martini glasses (preferably for about a buck each) so I can have a cocktail party.
All the women there must be fat. And they'll wear wigs. And false eyelashes. And psychedelic polyester dresses. And the men will wear suits with cuff links. And dark rimmed glasses. And Brill Cream. Den, I did that once with a grater. Oh, and I made beans once in the crock pot, and cut a piece off my finger which accidentally went into the pot with the beans. They were incredibly tasty. I figure it was a substitute for the pork fat that I'd deliberately left out of the recipe. Stop socializing with your darned sister and nephew and come and visit us up HERE! :D Hey... the boys must be SO excited seeing their cousin for the first time! Annex, are you battened down? It always surprises me that we haven't figured out how to control the weather yet. Well, we have, but I'm not talking global warming and other stupid destructiveness on our part. Speaking of green, this is a free advertisement for the Green Party of Canada. I am voting Green, and I fully expect all of you other Canadians to follow suit. Your vote DOES count! Stop being wishy washy!! Stop compromising yourself!! This is not an invitation to start a political debate. I am ORDERING you to VOTE GREEN!! |
By the way, I've just taken my vitamin. I'll let you all know if someone needs to come over and perform the heimlich.
|
Ellis I will come to Canada and vote green. I simply can not believe that the leaders of my country recently voted to allow big companies to continue to ruin our planet because it would cost them too much $ to fix their freakin smoke stacks. Ok I'm done now :soap:
|
Tongue - yummy.
My first kiss was age 12 with Jonathan Wilson - found out MUCH later he was just dating me to be able to fondle my dirty pillows.
I hated frenching, but the thing to do back then (boarding school) was sneak out with your friends at night (forbidden in the strictest terms), meet your boyfriends and snog on the dorm porch (and pray to God that the night watchman is on the other side of campus). He kept coming at me - yes, with the gaping mouth, 2dog, and would run his tongue all the way around his lips just before....**shudder** Once I told my dorm mother I couldn't keep anything down and she tried to get me to take nausea medicine in suppository form. Like ****. I was 16! Is THAT where your pill was stuck, Ellis? Hmmm? :^: :o **my face after inserting suppository** |
Well, for the Swank Lounge Party, we bought the Cute Boyfriend a purple brocade smoking jacket and a leopard print fez. So damn cute I can hardly stand it.
We decided to go with plastic martini glasses because I'm quite attached to my own martini glasses and drunk people tend to drop things... a lot. So far my drink menu consists of a pitcher of "real" martinis (gin martinis, which I can't stand), a pitcher of cosmopolitans (my fav), a pitcher of Mojitos (cuban mint martini), a pitcher of Flaming Keikos (We haven't decided what is in this drink, we just thought the dog should have a drink named after him). One of my pregnant friends is coming so, I'm also making a non-alcoholic punch (made out of Hawaiian punch, 7-up and rainbow sherbet, if you've heard of this one, you might be from the south). |
Sounds like fun Jessica! My DH is dying to get a fez!
|
Looks like we're in for some stormy weather on Friday here in the Toronto area. Geez, everyone at work is freaking out that their house might blow away....I guess living out on the east coast we caught a lot of hurricane tails, so I'm used to it. Now if I could arrange for a house to blow away and drop itself on the wicked witch I have to tolerate at work....actually, that's an insult to witches everywhere....she's more of a wicked *****....but I digress...
So I'm running on three 14 hour work days in a row, just got back from picking up hubby at the airport, and have slept a total of 12 hours since Sunday...I'm a little wired... :hyper: Imagine if I'd taken MY vitamin today? I forgot. Shouldn't have had that coffee at the airport. First kiss.......I was 14 and my BF was much taller than me...which was rare at that age because I was already 5'8"....anyway, he overestimated his lean factor and smacked his teeth off mine. :D Hey Annex...when did you sneak in here? Nice to meet you! Ruth, :hat: cheers to a good day, and may there be many more. ellis, the next time you get a pill stuck, try a little lubricant... Like um....olive oil? ;) WD-40? Yeah, you wouldn't have to taste it...those cans come with that straw do-dad you could get a shot down your throat...fix you right up... I think it's so cool that Sister Jennifer posts with us. Hi Jennifer! mauvais, do you throw pennies in your pond and wish the boss away? Or is it large enough to dunk his head in and hold him under? :s: Oh my....maybe I shouldn't give you any ideas. *drat* I still have to do laundry tonight...better scram. Hi Den, Squeak, Sooz, Jessica, Cerise, Sflake, 2DogMom, and everyone else! |
Oh my gosh, nobody here liked French kisses when we were young? I loved it! I didn't like the wintergreen, but oh my kissing was great. I LOVED my first kiss though. I used to watch him every day. He lived next door to my sister Amy for a while. I stayed with her for 2 weeks when my parents went on vacation. This would put me at about 11 and Amy about 19. I would put in Amy's 8-Track of Leo Sayer singing " I Love You More Than I can Say" and watch him walk to school.....Sigh...Ooohhhhh whooooa, whooooa, oh-oh- I love you more than I can sayyyyyyyy, I'll love you twice as much tomorrow....etc. Nuff mushy stuff.
Den, speaking of grinding stuff up - I remember Suzanne used to have these LONG nails. She had cooked up a pot of something - chilli, witches brew, or something good like that, and after we started eating, she realized she had chopped off her fingernail. We were hungry so we kept on eating, and just looked closely. I don't think we found the nail. We probably washed it down with Pina Coladas, so my mind is fuzzy!. |
LOL, that was chicken and dumplings! I rolled the dough out and cut it into small squares. Sliced that nail right off! But those were sure good dumplings!!
Hmmm, you were 11, Amy was 19, he was your first kiss, Mom and Dad were out of town, so Amy LET you make out with her next door neighbor!!! I've got Leverage!!! :smoking: |
No, it didn't happen then! That was when I stalked him, months before I got to kiss him! I told Mom I was going on a walk. Which I did, to the woods behind school. You used to go there too, eh Suzanne?
|
Not with guys! In front of the neighbors???
That makes as much sense as two sisters partying all week long while thier parents were out of town, stuffing the trash cans with beer bottles, and not realizing that the parents might notice them when they got home. We were so bright, and our parents were so proud :p |
Squeak and sflake, I can totally relate about the toxic person thing. It's a really hard thing to do, but sometimes you have to make that decision....is this person a positive or negative in my life. I too have had to remove myself from a friendship with a toxic person, and it took a long time for me to move past that friendship....I actually still struggle now with it, since I work with that person and have to maintain a healthy working relationship while pulling away from the friendship.....but my life is definitely happier without her constant negativity all day at work and then every evening after work she'd call and continue to ***** and complain and bring me down to her level.
Ellis, your cocktail party sounds divine!!! Ruth, I'm glad you had a better day, I hope they continue. Wildfire, I hope you can get some sleep!! I wouldn't be functioning if I were running on 12 hours of sleep in 3 days! Jennifer and Suzanne, you two are a riot!! It sounds like it was a lot of fun growing up in your house!! Hi Mauvais, Jessica, Annex, Den, Cerise, and anyone else that I may have missed. Oh.....and I've never ground any of my body parts into any food!! |
I always worry that I'm a toxic person - I like to talk to people and I always seem to be asking advice. But I'm rarely negative, and try not too complain much...is that what makes a person toxic? I just worry about being too needy - I have a lot of questions about life and fitness and stuff.
I had never had a toxic friend, until this couple we were hanging out with started complaining about EACH OTHER behind each others' backs. We got out fast, but I was always guilt-ridden, and then I'd wonder if I were toxic, too. I always do that - what if the thing I'm criticizing that person for is the very problem I have and just don't know it? And so on. Makes for some interesting internal discussions. |
