Yeah I agree about the model thing as well. The other thing that twist my twinkie is the style of cloths. You can go tot the jr or misses dept and there are nice looking cloths you walk into the plus and there isn't too many choices and things look so bad the nobody would wear it to a mud fight.

The malls in our area are divided into 3 categories. The first floor of the mall is usually the food court, drugstore 2 cheapie clothing stores for size 2's only, newsagents etc. The second floor is the cheap stores for teen's and the shoe stores. The third floor is all high priced stores featuring mostly suits/business attire, sportwear and gowns that you really have no place to wear unless you are part of the ladies who lunch/cocktail party soiree crowd.

There seems to be no in between! I am 36 years old, modern thinking, my DH is in a techno rock band, I still go out clubbing and I not ready for Talbots!!!! I also can't shop on the 2nd floor unless I want to look like I am trying to pretend I am 21! Looking youthful is one thing, looking like you are trying to desperately hold on to your youth is another! I don't want look frumpy but I don't want to look like some cougar either!

I don't know.... Now if I was smaller, I would still dress like I was 19...because that is how old I feel, but me at 19 I didn't dress like they dress now... I was still a Levi's and T-shirt kinda chickie and I would be that way now but not Quite as reserved as I was then. I like to show belly when it doesn't look like jelly. When I got back down around 140... I was back into the junior department everything but the hipsters and wellllll I have a butt at any weight and hipsters just don't do me justice Now that I am thru with college and I can focus on me again I think I will get my act back together.

It doesn't matter what age, to me jeans and a t is the wat to go. The other things are far and few between in my closet.

I find that shopping vintage..(ie used) is the only way I can save my sanity in the clothing world. Of course I am no fashion plate by any means, but I can find some pretty cool items and I love the hunt. Just this week I was at the good will and found a fab silk Indian Sari (i think, the long tunic with pants) that is sooooooo alternative and soooooooo me...$6. and I always will wear a mans tux coat with some slight alterations and plenty of funky jewelry. I do tend to wear a lot of mens clothes, especially T's as they come in sizes. I also find a lot of jackets that are wonderful. I have a couple of really funky cowboy shirts complete with pearl buttons and fancy stitching that look cool with jeans. Anyway, I usually shop second hand, that way if there is nothing in my size, its no one's fault...and as I always say:
better second hand than second rate

Ginya ~ sounds like you are a child of the 80's too... I wear more guys clothes than I do girls under most circumstances. I love a man's white button down tied at the waist with a tank-top underneath and a pair of jeans and I didn't own a womens coat until I was well into my 20's... I had a black suit coat with the cuff's upturned that I wore everywhere.

I like to shop in the thrift stores and consinment shops when I have time to really dig, I recently got 2 pairs of pants and like 5 or 6 shirts for $17 bux. I just haven't had time to really shop and living in the great south, you don't find what you would in a cool shop say in NY or a big city.

I like to dress sexy but classy. Most of the clothes in the shops here are too tight, too revealing and make most girls/women look like hoochie mamas Finding something sexy but nice that fits well and makes me feel good is what I like.

I look very alternative -mostly black clothing, leather boots, jacket etc. and I love vintage clothes. My DH says that we were Matrix before the movie was ever dreamed up! Which I agree with since most of the "alternative" and "Goth" people have been dressing that way since the 80's, we have always had a penchant for leather and PVC, metal and all things futuristic looking. I just don't do black lipstick/nailpolish or face piercings-and funky hair color is out because of my job.

I think my employer's would freak if they saw me on the weekends
