I have been in the garden since a little after 9:00 am, over about 5 hours with periods of rest (and water and more water and some coffee). Now a fresh peach with some organic yogurt for my second meal.
I dug up some plants that were burried under the overgrown burning bush. DH cut it back by 1/2 or more several weeks ago. Today I went into the fence and pulled on weeds, cut back perrenials, dug up beautiful red Peony then transplanted some hostas into that area so my neighbor will have pretty view.
In the hole from the Hostas, I put in the red Peony with good soil, gypsum on top to cause clay soil to allow water and oxygen to penetrate, watered all good, then mulched the area. I had more than 2 buckets, 5 gallon size, full of weeds. All is watered very well before I mulched and looks so neat and good. That Peony will get plenty of sunshine now and we'll enjoy it from Dining room window and patio, too.
Lots and lots of hard digging because we have very heavy clay. I added peat moss and broke up the clods, then with the gypsum on top to soften the clay, those plants and their neighboring Daylily and Geraniums will all do better next year.
So sore!!!! Will take Alieve, then a good shower and I"m finished for the day. The second Peony ( beautiful single white) will have to wait till later in the week before I dig it up and put it in the newer part of garden. When I cut it back ttoday I realize I actually have 3 separate plants now. Will have to dig much larger area up before I can get it in.
Once I'm outside, I forget aches or hunger or even how I'll feel later this day. Love this cooler fall weather and cloudy, cool day

Mary, most of the computers being sold now are still 8.1, but many ads say they will update it to Win 10 free. The computer I ordered has 10 already installed, but the same computer is also advertised with 8.1. I had to make sure I clicked on the correct one when I placed my order. At least I hope I did. LOL
Sandy, sounds like you were really busy in the garden.
Karrine, my recipe file is in Microsoft Word. I wouldn't have the first clue as to how to send it to you.
My tenant's computer needed a fix so we hauled it into Best Buy's Geek Squad. He took one look at it and realized all she needed was an update to the browser she was using. He was very nice; didn't charge us a cent and told me to take the side of my own computer off and dust the fan as that might be the cause of my computer overheating. Either that or I might need a new fan. I looked on the internet for PC's at Best Buy and they only showed one computer loaded with Windows 10 but when we got to the store they had a ton of them.
Mary - my Dell computer is only 2-1/2 years old so I should still have at least another 2 years of usage from it. I haven't received the message for a free update to Windows 10 but think I will stay with Windows 7 for now. I understand that Microsoft will continue updates for this version until 2020. I don't think I am good enough on the computer to update to version 10 on my own so if I want it I think I'll just go to Best Buy and have them load it on as the man told us lots of people have trouble doing it by themselves.
Sandy - too bad we can't post pictures in here as I would love to see your gardens.
Carol - I think you can just send a Word Document as an attachment. I have done this a few times but it was just for a single document and not a "full file" so not sure how to do that. But thank you anyway for thinking about it.
I just found out that my dd and hubby "might" come to visit me this weekend so am excited about that and will have to give the house a little extra cleaning if her plans don't change lol.

My new computer should be coming today. Sandy, I saved my documents and pictures to the external hard drive like yoo said, and I hope it worked. Most of them are already saved on my flash drive, so I just put the more recent ones on the external hard drive.
Karrine, even if your DD's plans change, at least your house will be clean. My GS is coming for a sleep over on the 3rd so I have to get his room cleaned out. I tend to use that room as a storage room when he's not here, then I have to clean it all out when he's coming. It's funny, but I don't worry about cleaning when my step-daughter is coming, but I do when my step-son is coming if he's bringing his wife. I don't want her thinking I'm a slob. LOL My step-daughter would never care. One time she came over after DH had been in the hospital. She looked around and said "Do you want me to scrub your kitchen floor?" LOL It was terrible, and I had been running back and forth to the hospital. I should have let her do it, but I just told her I'd get to it.
Saw new doctor this morning. We went over results of blood tests & she advised some new vitamins & herbs. I asked her about getting off pain meds & sleeping pills, but she thinks I need to get my system in better balance (based on blood test results) before I try to eliminate these. She would REALLY like me to get off aspirin (taking with Plavix bc of stents) and cholesterol meds. I will be seeing my cardiologist next month & will talk with her about this then.
Tomorrow the guys will come to begin tearing down wallpaper in my condo. NOT looking forward to this.
Lost another pound – just 5 more to go to get to my goal.
Have a GREAT Tuesday,
Lynn

Hi Karrine,
I have all of my genealogy stored on Ancestry. I download into Family Tree Maker when I want to print a particular report or search by place. What do you use? Where are your ancestors from?

Hi Mary,
Just after my knee surgery, the bike was VERY difficult. I use the seated elliptical every morning at the gym for about 20 min. Then, I move over to the elliptical (up to 6 minutes – started at 2 minutes after the stents), then over to the treadmill for 20-30 minutes. I find the elliptical VERY difficult. My heartrate goes up over 140 bpm.

Hi Sandy,
I ABSOLUTELY agree. Windows open, soft breeze, cool air! Yeah Fall!

Hi Karrine,
We can post photos. See photo of my kitty. Go to Advanced & click on Manage Attachments. Then find your photo & upload.
Just got home from choosing our new entry door. We really liked our salesman...we knew him already as we also bought our windows from him and the installers did a good job. Now we have the door picked out...wood stain (fiberglass door), decorative glass at top of the door (not above it) and in the new side light, and the hardware. The hardest were the wood stain and the glass...I had a really hard time choosing the glass...they were all so pretty. We are replacing the original door and everything connected to it and hopefully this will be our last entry door so it was a big deal to us. I chose a walnut stain and the glass will have a single flower with gold caming. I think we will be happy with it.
This afternoon we are going to see the movie, Everest. I thought it would be good to see on the big screen. Not sure where we will have dinner. My weight is high the last couple days because I've been getting too much sodium.
Lynn - Congrats on another pound lost, you are doing so well! Yes the eliptical is difficult! I have used it at the gym (the standing one), and I can only do a few minutes and my HR goes up fast too. Probably be worse now because we haven't been going to the gym. I want to get one for home so I can trade off from the bike and I can take my time and work up on the minutes. There is also a machine called tread climber and it is a shorter machine and is sort of a combination of a treadmill and the eliptical...but you just walk on it. In case you haven't seen it, here it is: http://deals.fitnessblowout.com/bowf...ad=64694970058
I'd like to have it too but don't have room for three machines! If I were getting just one now, I think I'd go for the tread climber. The reason I chose the bike first is because that's what I was used to using at the gym.
Lynn/Karrine - I would like to my genealogy...a lot of it has been done by my nephew but still I can't seem to find time. I joined Ancestry.com (free acct) but still haven't done much. I find it interesting that they can tell your ethnicity by your DNA! I would think they could tell race but that's not the same as ethnicity from what I understand. I think ethnicity is more to do with the location or culture you are from. Dh would not want me to spend money on it but I do find that interesting.
Karrine - Well updating to Win 10 is very easy, not sure why he said that ...it does it all for you, but no need to change if you are happy with Win 7. I did think 7 was a good system. I think after a certain date they will start charging for Win 10 though, unless of course you get a new computer, then it will probably come with it or you'll be offered as a free update as Carol Sue mentioned. To use Carol Sue's Word files you will need to have Word on your computer to open them.
Carol Sue - Happy for you getting a new computer! That's always an exciting time for me! It's a lot of work though getting everything like I want it but I'm kinda techy and like that sort of thing. I usually get nothing else done as I concentrate on it.
Sandy - Your flowers sound lovely...you should post a picture sometime of your yard/flowers. It's nice you enjoy it so much and such great exercise too.

Well, there sure is a lot to learn with Win 10. Like I said before, all I care about is getting online to post in my forums, do some emailing, and google for information. I could do that for hours. DH does not like change. He is getting very frustrated with Win 10 because he is not finding things he usually looks for, and he doesn't like that we have to enter a pin to log into the computer. I can't seem to be able to figure out how to eliminate that step. Maybe next time I'm in Best Buy I'll ask someone from the Geek Squad. He already told me that this computer is very basic and not as fast as our old one. It's good enough for me! I might look into getting a bigger monitor one of these days.
Lynn, good for you on losing another pound and getting a good report from the doctor.

I went to bed early as I was very sleepy while watching TV but couldn't sleep once I got to bed. So up again. Carol Sue, I sent you a PM that should help you with the pin# issue. With computers you can almost always change things to your liking.
Good morning ladies,
Today I am going to cut back my perrenials and rake up all the pine needles I have on the ground. Then start cleaning just in case my dd comes this weekend. I also need to mail my GS Birthday card. He lives in Calgary.
Lynn - Way to go with another lb. and closer to your goal. I have about half of my genealogy on Ancestry and I have researched four branches of my family. My grandmother came from Switzerland and my grandfather came from Germany. I got back to the 1400's on my Grandmother's side. Your kitty photo is so cute and thank you for letting me know you can post pictures.
Mary - Your new front entrance sounds great and I'm sure you will enjoy it. Once you really get into genealogy it becomes like an "incurable disease" lol. I do have Microsoft Word and use it quite often. I love it but am not good at all the different things it can do.
Its a beautiful morning here but dh isn't feeling well. I'm keeping an eye on him but think he needs to be checked. So far can't persuade him. At first I thought it might be his heart but now I'm wondering about his lung(s) or even possibly both as in heart failure. Or it may just be a cold. I will check his lungs soon. I always feel like I could so easily wait too long but he is stubborn and doesn't want to go in to be checked. I had planned to go out for groceries but I'm staying home with him now.
Last night we went to see the movie Everest. It was ok but was a little slow, it was hard to distinguish the characters at times due to the weather conditions on the mountain (snow, wind, darkness, heavy clothing etc) and it was very sad esp knowing it was based on a true experience.
Well it now appears that dh just has a cold. It started so strangely but he doesn't even have congestion or tightness of his chest, he's now just coughing.
So I went grocery shopping afterall. When I got home I realized I'd left my phone at Riteaid (the first store I'd stopped at), called and sure enough it was there. So glad. Now I'm worn out and dinner still to cook...but it's just steak, baked potatoes, toppings incl guacamole salsa and chips and salad.
I ordered a Ninja chopper ...its the professional 3 pc set, chopper, processor and blender. They sent me two in one box, don't want to return it (would have to re-package) so will keep one for a gift. Christmas will be here before I know it!

Mary, I'm glad that DH just has a cold. DH never wants to be checked until he's so bad he needs the ER. On the other hand, I go and get checked for "every little thing" as he says. It was a good thing I did that when I had the abdominal pain, though.
I think the Treadclimber is a good machine to replace both the treadmill and elliptical, but I think I've become too old and out of shape for it. I will not let go of my treadmill because I feel that as I age, I should always be able to walk on the level setting.
There was a study done that they were talking about on TV and it said that people who walk slowly (less than 2mph) have a much higher mortality rate than those who walk briskly. That would be me, but my thinking is that slow walking is better than no walking. Most of the time, when I go shopping I am in a store where I have a cart. I can walk briskly when I have the cart, like a walker. I rarely go to the mall, and when I do I just park outside of Bon Ton and that's the only store I go to. We went yesterday because I wanted to go to Kitchen Collections. After that I wanted to walk down to Sears. I was surprised at how hard it was for me to walk the whole length of the mall and back. I think I'd better get on my treadmill more often and increase my speed.
I wonder if you accidentally got in on one of those offers, "But wait! Call now and we'll double the offer!" LOL DH always laughs at them and says "Just send me one at half the price!" Hope you like your Ninja.
Well...hold on...LOL, yes, dh has a cold with a cough but this morning his lungs didn't sound so good so I called both his pulmonary doc and his primary care. He was also having chest, back and left arm pain early in am. He took one nitro but it didn't help. I didn't encourage a second as by then I was pretty sure it was his lung not his heart. Pulmonary hasn't gotten back to me yet but we got in with primary care doc. By the time we'd got there his lungs had apparently cleared a bit cause the dr said they didn't sound too badly but he did order an xray and it shows fluid accumulating again same place as in Dec....the left pleura sac. Not good news but no pneumonia and if it's early days in the fluid accumulating in the sac, I'm hoping we can get it gone by more natural ways. He did not order antibiotics since no signs of pneumonia and has no fever. He said to connect with pulmonary doctor and come back if needed. He also ordered him an inhaler to use for more comfort as needed. If it's not one thing its another...guess part of getting old but sure hate to see it...even reading the xray report makes me feel a little sick as it brings home his aging. Mine doesn't bother me near as much as his.
So another day with nothing done here at home...I think I'm supposed to hire a housekeeper...since I can't seem to get it done. LOL I have to go out again soon to return some meds that were sent to wrong pharmacy (and will cost more). When I'm home it seems I spend a lot of time online doing financial stuff, or making phone calls (appts usually).
Carol Sue - LOL no, I didn't get a bogo...wish I had. It will make a nice gift though. I tried it yesterday to make my mocha frappe and it did very well altho it's more bother and mess than with my old blender. I bought it more for the chopper which I haven't had reason to try yet, but it can also be a backup blender and food processor. Really don't need the three pitcher sizes usually though and hard to find space in my small kitchen...all I needed was one small container/pitcher really but thought they might come in handy some day. Probably just another case of overbuying but will see.
Yes, you'd better get on that treadmill...its hard but if you don't use it you lose it. I'm feeling very flabby these days...I'm actually a brisk walker for my age although I do notice some slowing down. Can't hardly jog now. But right now I feel a little more energetic than I did when I was hurting so much. I'm getting lots of cramps again..they go in cycles like the leg pain..but otherwise feel pretty good. I noticed I was able to go much more quickly up the stairs at the clinic today. Poor dh, it was hard for him. I told him I'd mow the lawn for him but he wants me to have our son do it this weekend.
Well need to get that med back to the pharmacy and also forgot to pick up some ground beef yesterday so will get that too. Dh is resting and I won't be long. I make sure he has his phone near him.
Mary - I sincerely hope your DH will be ok and that his lungs improve.
It's for sure....my DD and hubby are coming to visit me tomorrow. We are planning to go to our famous farmers market as soon as they get here and from there my daughter wants to go to a very popular country restaurant for their rolled ribs which are quite popular in my area. Then, back to my place for a long visit before they head back home or they might stay overnight at her ex-sister-law's place until Sunday so they have a chance to visit with them too while they are here. My daughter has lived here most of her life and only moved away 10 years ago so she knows "home" (here) very well.
Other than being excited about tomorrow, I have most of my cleaning done LOL.
Have a good day everyone,
Karrine

Well, Mary, it sounds like DH is worse off than I thought. I didn't mean to trivialize his illness. I think any time someone his age is sick it's a serious matter. I hope his lungs clear up for him.
I bought a generic Bullet-type mixer several years ago when I thought I was going to start making Protein Shakes. I did that a few times but realized that I was not satisfied with them and still wanted the feel of eating real food so I stopped that. I was just adding more daily calories. Then I tried making Bullet Proof Coffee in it and it leaked all over the counter. I found out that hot liquids don't work well in it. Then we got another personal blender as a premium at a casino. I intended to try the Bullet Proof Coffee in that, but then lost interest. So I have these 2 blenders that are just taking up space, but I don't want to get rid of them. DH has a milkshake mixer, like the old fashioned ones with the metal cup and he makes milkshakes with that, so that's one more appliance, along with my full size blended that I only use for potato pancakes. I could have a big yard sale with all my small appliances but I want them there for when I need them, even if it's not often. I told DH that I am winding down toward the end of my life and I'm not buying anything else. LOL I don't think he believes me.
Lynn, I never used a full size elliptical like they have in the gym. Mine is a home model and might not be as strenuous as the ones they have in the gyms. I don't have a problem doing it, getting up to 30 min per day, but I don't go fast. I don't do anything fast. LOL But I think moving is better than not moving.
Karrine my grandson is coming for a sleepover next weekend so I have to get his room cleaned out. It is actually a room I use mostly for storage but we have a small bed in there for him. He says it's his room, but Grandma uses it too. LOL It tends to get cluttered in between his visits and when he comes it all gets sorted out.
