  • The colonoscopy went well as far as I know. He did find one polyp and sent it for biopsy, so should know in a few days about that. The prep was nasty as usual but in some ways the process was different and easier this time and i'm thankful for that. It all went very quickly and I felt like I got a good sleep. One thing that was different was that I didn't get to talk to the doctor. The nurse gave me his report. I do hope I get to talk with him at some point.
Only side effect was a slight woosiness for a little while afterwards but I was hungry and we stopped for pizza on the way home. I ate 2 1/2 slices and then took a long nap, only getting up because I want to still be able to sleep tonight. The men let me off...didn't have to cook dinner tonight. A good thing...my shoulder wasn't harmed, the nurse gave me pain med for it before the procedure and I had no problem with it that I remember however since I sedated, I wouldn't, but it feels ok, maybe even better right now.
  • Back to usual routine today. Only side effect I notice from yesterday is that I am stiff and sore...feel like I had a good workout! Kinda all over but esp around ribs...when I cough it hurts. And my right arm (the "good" one) was very stiff and hurt when I first woke up. LOL, my left arm which is usually the one that hurts (from shoulder) felt better! Don't remember feeling like this after previous procedures. I lost 3.5# during the process, but I'm sure that will be regained quickly now that I'm back to my usual eating. Yesterday all I ate was the pizza and a couple popsicles though. Just wasn't hungry.
  • Mary so glad that is over for you! Strange that the OTHER arm hurt . . . sometimes our bodies are confusing.

I threw up when I sat up after a bit of orange juice. Couldn't eat much rest of day. But as you say the bowels do fill up and scale registers that. I'm amazed you could eat like you were able to do.

I have an appointment in 1-1/2 hours and DH is still not back with the car. I just called to get another to take my place. Luckily she is well enough to do so.

DH's doctor left the horrible outfit he worked for and is going to a different one not too far away. Most of our family goes to them so we were really concerned, especially our youngest daughter who needs her migraine meds refilled and is in real pain as she tries to work, dog sit a friend's large dog at the friend's home, Oh my. Of course this late in the day, no doctor is open.

Our very cool weather has changed to normal September weather finally. I actually turned on the airconditioning for the first time in over a week.

  • The doctor just called me. He said the polyp he found was very very tiny..he said it was a miracle he found it. He said because of the polyp it is recommended I have another colonoscopy in 5 years. I asked him if it was precancerous...and he said depends what you mean by precancerous... in about 25 years it MIGHT be cancer. Sheesh I'll be 97 then, so don't think I'm too concerned. So I'm going to see how I feel about it in five years.
  • Mary So glad you asked him about the "Precancerous" 25 years it MIGHT be cancer. . . Come on! If I were 25, I'd feel concerned, but I feel as you do.
I also was told to have another colonoscopy in 5 years, but NO polyps were found. In 25 years I'll be 102 - and don't want to live that long, but do want to enjoy the years I do have.

After two days of light action and lots of good reading, Journaling my thoughts and emotions, I have energy in abundance. I'm even more sure that it is necessary to listen to our bodies regarding our actions.

I did stand hours watering the individual plants in our gardens. Don't believe we've had over an inch of rain since July and the ground is developing deep cracks as it shrinks in areas I don't water.

Today is ironing day as we watch football. I'll be in back of house and as I finish ironing a shirt, I carry it thru the house back to Master Bedroom or to Ted's extra closet. Lots of steps that way and I am not constantly standing.
I began ironing when I was 8 because Mom's arthritis in her knees and hands were so bad. I actually find it satisfactory to see the improvement the iron makes in our clothing.

Did you know they are making jackets out of polypropylene? I bought one that is very wind resistant, yet looks and feels like an expensive leather. It can't be ironed, but I stuffed the arms with towels when it was warm from the hot car, and the wrinkles disappeared. We get some wisdom as we grow older.

May each of you enjoy this day. Sandy
  • Good morning ladies

    - Mary and Carol - I'm glad your procedure is overwith now and you are feeling back to normal. It sounds like both of you have a better doctor than I do for the colonoscopy. I had mine 6 months ago and the nurse showed me afterward on the Doctor's diagram that he found 5 polyp's yet when I went for my results the doctor just said everything fine, just found a few polyp's. He didn't mention anything about pre-cancerous and that was the end of my appointment. I imagine I will have to have another in 2 years time.....he didn't say.

I'm making a stuffed roast chicken today with veggies and cranberry sauce. I make my own stuffing which I just love and doing a small load of laundry.

    Have a good day everyone,
    Karrine
  • Good morning ladies. Well, I did it. I ordered a new computer. It is an HP. It has Windows 10 and it is the tower and keyboard only. I think I can use the monitor I have but if not I can buy a new one. Also, we just bought a new printer, so it should be compatible. It seems that they are selling more and more laptops and I wanted to get a new desktop before this one breaks completely. I hope I like this, and even more, I hope DH likes it. I don't care much about features, but only that I can get online with it. He is more picky about it than I am. We paid way too much for the one we have. It should be here Friday.

EDIT: When I found the computer online it said it would be delivered on Tuesday, 9/22, but as I place the order a pop up told me that the delivery date was changed to Friday. Didn't matter to me. It was free shipping. Now I received a confirmation that it has been shipped and the tracking information states a delivery date of Tues, 9/22. It's just coming from Ohio, so Tuesday sounds reasonable.

Mary, I'm glad to hear that your colonoscopy went well and that the polyp wasn't cancerous.

Sandy, I rarely iron anymore. I do it "as needed" when we want to wear something and it's wrinkled. Most of the time clothes get creases from hanging the closet so I don't iron before I put things away. My MIL criticized me for keeping my ironing board up all the time, but it is in the laundry room. Her sister used to keep hers up all the time but it was in the dining room. Big difference!

I also have a faux leather jacket. It was very wrinkled when I bought it but by the time I wore it the wrinkles had hung out of it. I had to put new sheers up in the living room because Rusty tore the old ones. I wanted to wash them before hanging them but DH insisted that the wrinkles from packaging would hang out. Two weeks later the wrinkles are still there, so now we have to take them back down to be washed. Actually, I am just going to wet them and run them in the drying enough so I can hang them back up. They should dry in a matter of minutes.

How is everyone else? Gayle, Lynn, Ms Hatcher, Karrine?
  • Less sore today...just a little when I cough. We went to our gs's martial art class. First class situation for him. They were all very cute, and the instructor introduced him to the class and made a big deal of him joining. I thought it was neat that they taught them about stranger danger and told them what to do. Then each one practiced it with an instructor. It was the best I've seen on that subject. Went for ice cream (dh and I shared a root beer float as he wasn't hungry and I was more thirsty than hungry) with them afterwards. Then we went shopping. Dh bought a coupon book from our gd who was selling them for school and we were able to use a $5 coupon off our groceries.

Carol Sue - Congrats on the new computer! I have an HP too. I love getting a new one. I hope you like Win 10 as much as I do. If you go to komando.com you can find lots of tips, things you can change for privacy issues etc. Or just go to settings and you may be able to figure it out on your own, get it set up like you and your dh want.

Carol Sue/Sandy - The few times a year I iron are so few that really I think I can say I never iron! I'm not sure I even iron once a year it is so seldom! Dh irons his own clothes as needed and he needs it much more often than I.

Karrine - I am a great questioner...I question most everything! So I question my doctors a lot and learn a lot that way that they probably wouldn't volunteer. Your dinner sounds good.

Sandy - You sound like you are in pretty good shape to stand so long. I agree it is important to listen to your body...I believe in that and picking my doctors brain, but then making my own decision and it seems Carol Sue is the same. Once a doctor said to me..."you don't always do what we say, do you?" I said no because when you are done with me, I still have to live in this body. He told me he wished more of his patients were like me. As a former nurse, I've seen too much.

How you doing Lynn, Ms Hatcher?
  • Good morning ladies,

Carol - good for you in purchasing a new computer with Windows 10. I am impressed that you and Mary are using this version of Windows. I am still using Windows 7 and afraid to upgrade as I know this version so well. I might be forced to purchase a new computer as mine is always shutting down by itself which I think is a problem of overheating but it is getting plenty of air space. I'll hold off as long as possible lol. but back up my files on a external flash drive.

Just church this morning and I don't know what I will do yet for the rest of today. I have lots of leftovers from my chicken dinner yesterday so that will be good for my diet for this coming week.

    Karrine
    Have a good Sunday everyone
  • Our weather is going to be perfect for the next few days. Temps in the low 70s and no rain. We had a good rain yesterday. 70s are my kind of weather. You don't need either the air conditioner or the furnace. Saves $$$$ LOL We have such a nice breeze going through from the front door to the back.

    Karrine
, I currently have Win 7 and would not upgrade to 8.1. I also was hesitant to take the free Win 10 upgrade for this computer. I don't know how old this computer is but I've had it for several years. It crashed once and we lost everything except the pictures I had backed up on a flash drive, and my recipe file that I had saved on a different flash drive. That recipe file is important! LOL I have been saving recipes from friends on the internet and from websites for 15 years. Even though we got this computer all fixed up for $99, I still have problems occasionally, and I'm not sure if it's from the computer or the monitor. If I still have the same problem after we get the new computer I will know it's the monitor, and they are not expensive.

Most of the computers on the market still have 8.1 and they are advertising a free upgrade to Win 10, since not too many people are happy with 8.1. I will get used to 10 I suppose. DH might be another story. He hates change. This one said NEW beside it and already has Win 10. That's why I chose this one. DH will keep this old computer since it still works, in case we need it.

We bought an external hard drive at the suggestion of the guy who fixed our computer, but I'm not sure how to work it. I want to transfer as much as I can to it before I start using the new computer. I'll figure it out. It's probably similar to saving to the flash drive.

I usually make my own stuffing when I cook a turkey, but I have a couple fat chicken breasts that I want to stuff and I bought a box of Stove-Top for that since it will only be a small amount.

I think it might be because you are in Canada that you did not get more details from your doctor. Maybe you should have asked if the polyps were biopsied, just to be sure. I don't know if Canadian doctors are receptive to patients questioning them.

Mary, we always seem to buy HP and like them.

That Kim Komando is on the radio locally and gives a lot of information and also has a column in the Sunday paper. I will also check out the website.
  • Carol I use the external hard drive just like I would a thumb drive, just put it in the UBS port and Computer recognizes it and I copy and save. I back up Quicken to it each time I update. Church stuff and photo's also.

My printer is great HP and is 5 years old and doing well. Computer is over 5 and loaded with Windows 7 professional. Hopefully when I absolutely MUST get new computer I'll get one with Windows 10 loaded, too. I do dread learning how to operate a new system so am putting it off. Hopefully this one will last till next summer.

I never heard of Komando.com but appreciate the info.

We went to the earliest Mass today because I am Reader. We have 2 Sunday Masses and one Saturday night Mass. This means there are some who are in our Parish that I never see because we always go on Sunday.

Finally got a bit of rain overnight, it at least got the sidewalks wet but the grass doesn't stand a chance, yet.

I've been craving Chocolate and picked up a bit when I went to get my RX. Didn't taste as good as I hoped it would. Sometimes I'm better off to just ignore a craving.

  • Hi Everyone, Back from trip to MA. Bought new earrings & a new pocketbook. Stuck to my diet, went to a GREAT arts & crafts show in Deerfield, and saw a GREAT movie - Phoenix.

Looking forward to a VERY busy week. See new doctor on Tuesday; they begin tearing down wallpaper on Wednesday; and Mah Jongg & Tai Chi on Thursday.

    Lynn
  • All we've done today is go to church and eat out. I ordered a meatloaf entree...not sure why as I usually only like my own meatloaf and not always that if I try a new recipe. It was ok, but I ate very little of it, brought the rest home for my son's lunch. I have gained my 3# I lost with the procedure so back where I was.

Karrine - Win 10 is more like Win 7...they gave us back the start menu, only difference is it is laid out more like Win 8. Other than that, the settings link is in the start menu and the layout is a little different but you can still make changes there. I recommend any new users to change the privacy options as they want them. I rarely use the start menu, I have a bookmark toolbar set up in my browser for all my most used sites so I just load my browser and off I go. I usually only go to the Start menu to change my settings if I feel a need to. If you want you can speak to Cortana and it will do a search for you. I am not interested in that, so just search the usual way. Win 10 also provides a new version of Internet Explorer and you can write on it or highlite text. I continue to use Chrome. That's all the things that are different about Win 10 that I can think of. If you just explore from your browser, it's pretty much the same as 7...I really like it.
  • Good morning Ladies,

Carol - thank you for all the information on Windows. I too have heard that Windows 8 has numerous problems especially lacking the start button. That recipe file you have built up over 15 years sounds awesome...care to share lol.

Sandy - I use Quicken too and back it up each time I use it. I also constantly back up my genealogy files which I started 30 years ago.

Lynn - Good for you sticking to your diet while away to MA. Hope you enjoyed it.

Mary - Thank you for more information on Windows 10. I am happy to know that it is similar to Windows 7 but with some changes. Looks like I would be best to purchase a preloaded version of Windows 10 when my computer dies.

I didn't get some yard work done yesterday so will do that today. We are having more "fall" temperatures here now and I'm thinking about cutting back some of my perennials in preparation for winter.

    Have a good day everyone,
    Karrine
  • My dh and I had a miscommunication this morning which caused us not to go to the gym. He is going fishing this afternoon but I thought he was going this morning, so slept in (or tried to)...and when I got up (9) he thought that was too late, so we didn't go. I think I will use the walking tape my son gave me at Christmas after he goes fishing. I haven't been using my bike as much recently because it makes my left knee hurt. It's not a bad hurt but is irritating. Hope to get the eliptical before long as I hear it's easier on the knees. I am making Caldereta, a Filipino dish, kind of a stew with beef, potatoes, red pepper (only I have to use yellow this time cause that's what I have on hand), olives and of course serving it with rice.

Karrine - I don't know the age or condition of your computer but right now you can get Win 10 free. If you are set up for Win updates, you may have an invite from Win to reserve your upgrade or even download it already in the lower right corner (system tray). If you buy a new computer I think most will come with Win 10 soon if not already.

Need to get to work...have a good day everyone!
