Donna....:hug::hug::hug::hug::hug::hug:
I think it worked, the lady loves, loves, loves the house. The realtor said we should be hearing from her early next week.

Newbie Me

I am new, just joined tonight. I read about this in a magazine. I'm just kinda searching, browsing, trying to figure it all out. I am 58 so this looks like I am in the right place.

I am new and reading comments, trying to get to know people and my way around......It's past my bedtime, I tend to rise early and go to bed early, but its Saturday night, hahah, but I can't figure out what "dm" stands for......I assume that is your mother? I work with elderly, so I know what that means when they need 24 hr. care, believe me, everything will be easier for everybody when she is getting the extended care she needs and you can visit her often and still have some time to yourself. Are "dh" and "DS" initials for someone?........

At hospital with dm. She is getting transfusion in addition to hydration. She's getting 2 bags - 6 hours. Mentally she had been sharper than she had for years. Until yesterday. I knew she needed transfusion-,her counts were so low and she's weak. But she had been refusing her Aricept - I just found out - and so she has been weak, wobbly & wacky. She's going to go into nursing care for a little while- I hope it's just a little while. I was so upset earlier. I couldnt stop crying. The nurses & aids were sweet. I had found someone to come in at night but her mental delusions and weakness require 24 hr care. Sunday dh and I head down to Houston for his testing. From 8 am til 6:30. So it will be best for her to be in nursing care. My DS - seems to have forgotten me. My friend told dh that he needed to set him straight. My dh is not good about confronting people - he argues with me but otherwise he just ignores people to death and lives without them. Well, I was having a nervous break down so after my girl friend gave him a little prod, he made an attempt. Told son he changed and was treating us like crap. DS denied it. So Son did call later to serif we wanted to have dinner. He just doesn't get it. So I guess we're just supposed to act like nothing happened. I'm so hurt now that it will be difficult.

I'm sorry about your "wicked" pain Mary Gee. That is Boston! Or at least Massachusetts, new Hampshire. My dh is from Boston area and all his relatives say it - half of them have places in new Hampshire. I love it. Some of my favorite people!
Enjoyed reading posts. I'll get back when I can. Miss you girls. Hugs to you all!

Bobbbi......WOW! That sounds wonderful k3

Karen31 03-16-2013 11:40 PM

Sounds wonderful Bobbi! I hope you get the offer on your house that you can live with. Our realtor in colorado always said, "Well, you've been invited to the dance, now you have to wait to be asked to dance!" Pretty much sums it up. Good Luck and will be anxious to hear.

ChatKat-- Welcome and if you are interested you can check out the acronyms here: http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/anno...-acronyms.html But you are right DM is Darling Mom or Dear Mom.. Glad that you found us an look forward to getting to know you.

Good evening GG's,

Late getting my GG fix this evening. Stopped in to say hi.

Mary ~ sorry you are not feeling well. Hope you get to feeling better soon.

Bobbi ~ hope this (prospective buyer) is finally the one. Hopefully Donna's magic fingers, toes and anything else she crossed did the trick.

Chatkat ~ welcome. There is a section above the threads ~ one of the "stickys" that tells what a lot of those a lot of the abbreviations (acronyms) are. You were right DM stands for dear mother. DS is dear son, DH ~ dear husband (or darned if he is not being dear ~ LOL).

Ok, I'd rather stay up and play, but every time I do that ~ I am kicking myself in the morning when that alarm goes off.

Hope you all are having a nice weekend.

Take care

Hi everyone!

Family tension -- don't you love it ---
Trying to deal with "I'm always right and everyone else is wrong" people is a strain. Can't please everyone - feel like I'm always stuck in the middle and hearing it from both sides. Wish everyone would just grow up and used common sense. Geesh....

Got to see my darling precious GD last night - what a joy. She is such a happy little girl -- greeted me with "Hi Grammy" and a huge smile and a hug and a kiss -- she just melts my heart. :D She'll be 3 in July - what a wonderful age.

Unfortunately I had to go down the street to my friend's house to see her because my SO and DD are on the outs :( But I'm not going to let them rain on my parade. Things will work out... I'm just trying to figure out how to make the changes I need to make with the least amount of stress. People will say "I don't want to cause you stress" (due to my heart condition) but then they feel the need to get on their high horse because...... well, they're always right! :dizzy: One day they'll be riding their high horse out of town!! :p

Anyway, I hope all of you are doing well -- all of you have issues too. My prayers go out to you who are dealing with health issues (your own and your loved ones) -- those are the most difficult because certain things we just don't have any control over.

No matter what, I try to keep a positive attitude and not be a wet blanket. Why be miserable. :carrot: There's so much to be thankful for -- like having you ladies -- I always feel inspired by all of you -- Thanks for being "good eggs"!!

Hola, Lovelies!

Gayle - because my legs were crossed for Bobbi, I lost my balance when you made me laugh... and nearly fell off the chair! I think you might just get my "favorite GG" rating today!!

Bobbi - I don't want to jinx anything, so I'll just say GOOD THOUGHTS! Oh, I do hope this works. As they say: if it's meant to be....

ChatKat - welcome!

MaryGee - yo!

KarenFL - how's your ticker these days?

CK - fun things on the agenda today?

It's pretty here today. It's a little overcast, because we already (already!) have wild fires, and the smoke has drifted down to us. It's way too early for spring and way too early for fires... more snow! more snow!! more snow!!!

I should go be productive. Later, lovelies! Bobbi - my body parts continue to be contorted on your behalf.

Karen3 03-17-2013 03:02 PM

Howdy all....doing boneless ribs in the oven and dash is moaning a doggie tune. Man that dog just doesn't do oven good. He loves his canned dog food that is called Backyard BQ!

Bobbi...I have everything crossed, too. Which makes it hard to type with crossed eyes and fingers.

Donna...my ticker is ticking steady and slow as my grandfather's clock which stood ninety years on the floor... it was taller by half then the old man himself but weighed not a penny weight more.....how's that for an ear worm to drive you wee bit crazy!!:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Gayle...just keep yourself positive and happy. Getting a good night sleep helps.

I have one more disk/dvd of Hart of Dixie...will finish it just because I started it....phew it has so many cliques that you start predicting the next one. Acting isn't much better....sighhhhh spoiled by Dayton Abbey!

Any new good books? I need a reload in my Kindle....k3

jess1 03-17-2013 04:51 PM

Ah, KarenFL, I was afraid you'd get your hopes up about Hart of Dixie... the acting is pretty much non-existent! It does have the attraction of being so bad that you HAVE to watch! What I never understood was why "they" make Zoe run around that very conservative Southern town in those short, short skirts? Did you get to the Catherine Cookson series yet?

Did some domestic drudgery (very little), finished a KindlePC book, made a MX casserole... I think I've been productive enough! I have a Netflix movie (don't remember what) and might watch that. Lazy, lazy day!

Welcome chatcat...got a name? :welcome:
Thanks for all the crossed eyes, fingers and legs on the sale of our home. I will not think about it or wait for a phone call. I know better than getting all excited until I have the money in my hot little hands. Now Bruce is a different story, geeeeeeeeeeeeez...he's breaking out in red spots around his collar. He's such a worry wart. He worries that we'll sell our house and not have a house he likes to move into. (We have over 500 homes for sale in our area, duh!)

We're in the middle of a March snowstorm, all the schools are closed and the snow is coming down sideways.

Donna & K3...I have a bunch of books downloaded on my kindle but haven't run across one that's been good enough to brag about. I'm too cheap to purchase them, just download freebies. Do you two actually buy them?

I have to bake something sweet for Bruce today, he's such a mess. It'll have to be something I can't eat like chocolate. Yesterday at the nursing home I had coffee and dessert with MIL. (I don't count calories on Sundays) A retired fireman was in the church group that brought desserts and he told me he baked his dessert himself. It was a moist yellow cake with pecans, coconut and whipped cream topping and it was to die for. I was still smacking my lips on the way home. Why does desserts have to have so many calories and taste sooooo good.

I'm off to start my day, gotta take my turns on scrabble (online Facebook) and get in the shower.

Take care everyone.

P.S. I'm at goal so I'm only going to weigh myself once a week instead of daily. But keep counting the calories or I'll be right back up there again.:?:

jess1 03-18-2013 12:00 PM

Good Morning, All....

Doing laundry... have to run to the grocery store for SamCat food... nothing too exciting on the agenda!

Bobbi - NO, I don't buy 99% of my books. I download the freebies to my KindlePC or use the library. I think Granny and I are the reason the library stays in business! She goes through 3-4 books a week; she's so lucky that her eyes still work.

Since I'm going to start training the new hire on the morrow, I'm trying to put together an intelligent and coherent flow-plan so that all the bases are covered. I hope she works out well.

Have a good Monday!

Bobbi - I'm still contorted! :)

maryea 03-18-2013 01:38 PM

Got all ready to go to the gym this morning but started coughing which causes other issues and keeps me running to the bathroom, so decided not to go. I can handle it better (at least more privately!) at home. I don't feel quite so tired so think I am better though, I just have this tickle in my throat. My arm hurt (ached) more again last night and woke up with it feeling very heavy and sore. I go to the doctor this afternoon so will see what he thinks about that and my bp which remains a bit high. I suspect that my A1C will be higher this time too....not sure whether he will check that today or not. I hate that I have gained weight....he told me to lose and instead I gained! So mad at myself!:( I keep thinking I'll get my priorities straightened out and get back on track but so far I haven't done that.

Speaking of being mad...I was mad at dh last night. He went to the Easter play at church alone as I didn't want to go with this cough. Hasn't decreased my hunger any though and I went looking for something to eat. Found this 1/2 gal of ice cream in the garage fridge!! It was almost gone so know he's been eating it a little at a time without telling me! He KNOWS that I don't want him to have any large containers of anything. I asked him to please just buy a one or two serving container of whatever goodies he likes that might tempt me. We went over that again just recently. Well I don't know when he bought this, but there it was. So I ate the rest of it!:o and I didn't mention it to him. I know I shouldn't have eaten it but maybe he'll think more about me next time. It's like bringing in cocaine when your spouse is an addict. At the same time I know that I should be able to stick to my diet even if he does bring these things into the house. He has a right to the food he wants. And he just can't understand how hard it is for me as he is just naturally very disciplined. I'm the stupid one for eating it and harming not only my diet efforts but also my health!

Donna - It IS good that your mom can still see to read. I love to read too. Good luck with the training.

Bobbi - Hope the house deal goes through. Poor Bruce, but at least he gets dessert! :D

Chatkat - Welcome to our group! I hope you will check in often and let us get to know you.
