Good Morning, it's gorgeous out this morning. All the hoar frost on the trees, I can't stop marveling.
Thanks for the article Karenmo.

Sharm...I sure had a wake up call on the high calories in nuts. I took the time to weigh them on my food scale after I cracked them open, you can be sure I'll be more careful with them. I love throwing nuts on a cookie sheet and baking them, the flavor is wonderful. Oh stop, now I'll be thinking of them all day.

Deedee, gosh we have a DeeLee here too! My hubby has a size 34 waist too, has all his life. Men have bodies so different from ours, if only they could eat like we do for a few months and have their bodies react like ours. Maybe they'd be more supportive. My hubby know better to say anything when I get my food scale out. One time he plated everything up for me when he had steaks/veggies on the grill. I had to take everything off, weight it first. He just shook his head.:dizzy:As to the chia seeds, look up the benefits of them. I will post just one:

Mary...I had leg cramps again last night and I floated in water all day. Guess the water didn't help
.
Deelee...my MIL will be 93 in July and has always walked all by herself without a cane or walker. Now she falls down a couple times a week according to the nursing home. I can't figure out why she doesn't break a bone but she spent so much money on Shaklee vitamins her whole life. Those are very expensive, maybe that's what keeping her bones strong. I laughed when you thought about where you're going to live after you got a divorce. Sorry about your mom, BUSTER made the right choice.

K3...hope DD is doing okay today.

Here's my menu from yesterday:

Good Morning all....DD just called. They have her walking and she admitted that the body brace does help(gesh why is it hard to admit mom was right!). Her pain level is still a 9 and had Nurse Ratchet last night. Thank you again for your prayers. k3

Good Morning, All...

KarenFL - good news on your daughter... good thoughts abound!

Bobbi - I woke up with a toe cramp last night (you know, where the big toe curls under? O.M.G.!!)... I was hobbling toward the refrig for a swig of pickle juice but instead had a couple small glasses of water, went back to bed, and went to sleep. I still like the pickle juice best.

I always used to put my chia seeds in water to make a gel, but I've noticed lately that they go bad quickly, so now I just swallow the seeds with a glass of water. I've been doing chia for years, too, and I'm convinced that's why my blood work comes back as if I were a 20 year old. I'm a thing of amazement to the doc!

What news, real estate??

Dee - hang in there.

Rosey - yo! Enjoy that gson!

Has anyone else had trouble getting into 3FC with the search option? For two or three days now (all browsers, all computers), it says there aren't any threads. I have to go in through user CP and find the thread... most annoying!!!

Better get to work! Have a lovely, ladies![COLOR]

I'm having trouble with my account. It won't keep me logged in.
Cajun help!!!

Bobbolink 03-08-2013 08:31 AM

Cajun...I've had trouble with my account too, I can log in but the page keeps jumping around, weird.

Donna...I often get cramps in my toes too, pickle juice? Seems like I remember someone mentioning that before. Remind me what it was about the pickle juice.

K3...goodie, up and walking is great!

Since I didn't put the ingredients into the double meat loaf I made, I didn't record yesterdays menu either. I used leftover meatloaf into my burritos and not a clue to the calories.

This was on the Hungry Girl email this morning. I don't usually do Hungry Girl recipes but this one sounds good.

Red Hot Apple Pie in a Mug

PER SERVING (entire recipe): 140 calories,
0.5g fat, 44mg sodium, 47g carbs, 3.5g fiber,
24.5g sugars, 0.5g protein

Ingredients:

1 medium Fuji apple,
cored and cut into 1/2 inch cubes

12-15 pieces Red Hots Cinnamon Flavored Candy

1/2 sheet (2 crackers) low-fat cinnamon graham crackers

2 tbsp. Fat Free Reddi-wip (or more!)

Dash cinnamon

Directions:

Put apple cubes in a microwavable cup or mug. Top with Red Hots
--the more you use, the hotter your pie in a mug will be! Cover and microwave for 2 minutes. Stir well. Re-cover and microwave for an additional 1-2 minutes, until apple cubes are soft.

Meanwhile, place graham crackers in a plastic bag and
thoroughly crush through the bag; set aside.

Once cup or mug is cool enough to handle, mix contents well. Allow to cool for about 10 minutes.

Top with most of the crushed graham crackers followed by the whipped topping. (Use a
double serving, if you like!)

Sprinkle with cinnamon and remaining crushed grahams. Voila!

MAKES 1 SERVING

I have the hungry girl cook book. She actually has quite a few good recipes - a large portion seem to be "in a cup". What's funny is over 30 years ago I made omelettes in a cup since I was single and didn't want anything big and the microwave was just so easy in the morning during the work week. Who knew it would be one of the great weight loss tips. Make and eat everything in a cup!

jess1 03-08-2013 09:25 AM

Quick Good Morning, All...

Yvonne - welcome!

Bobbi - I've been a big proponent of pickle juice for years. A swig of pickle juice will take care of my leg and/or foot cramps almost immediately. It doesn't matter if it's sweet, dill, or bread and butter. There's something in there... but vinegar doesn't have the same result for me, go figure. There's study to back it up.

Glad it's Friday. I changed the bedroom clock to DST this morning, and I'm hoping that I won't be walking into the walls next week, trying to adjust to the time screwup. I've lately been going to bed when I'm tired, instead of waiting until the clock says I should, and maybe that will help the adjustment, too.

The hip is fab lately. I revel in being pain free and mobile. I don't know how long it'll last or what's going on, but I'm so much enjoying this!

Better get rolling and get ready for work. Everyone, have a good today!

Cajunlady165 03-08-2013 09:28 AM

Good morning,
Today is weigh in and I'm up 1/2 lb. Not much worried due to female issues. It'll go away next week.
When I log on and it says remember password checked it goes away. When I leave this page I have to log in again. Don't know what's going on.
Some of you were wondering about pickle juice for cramps. When my sons played high school football and they would start cramping on the field they would give them pickle juice. I'm assuming it is the high content of salt the you immediately put back into your body. They always saved the juice from the concession stand at school.
Bobbi your recipe sounds delicious but entirely too many carbs for me.
Rosey it sounds like you have wonderful grandkids. Glad you are enjoying your time with gs before he leaves.
Karenfl I'm glad to hear your dd is doing well. Hopefully her pain will subside soon.
Hello to all. I have to call post office for ds. This house business is a lot of headache. Maybe I should do nothing and my ds will have to stay with us. Lol. I hate that he is moving out. I don't like the empty nest syndrome.

Hugs
Cajun

This is such a "FEEL GOOD" video I wanted to share it with all of you!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6yL270uTYMw

forreal 03-08-2013 12:12 PM

Karen31 -- thanks so much for the video -- I really needed that! I was sitting here feeling so blue and I feel better now. I woke up in such a funk this morning. No reason to feel blue about anything - but it was like a black cloud was hovering over me. Why is it some days we feel great and feel like we can conquer the world -- and the next day we can feel like we're in a bottomless pit. Geez, I hate getting the blues. I should learn to put on some music when I feel bad, because music can really brighten the mood. Just watching that video lifted my spirits and I've got a smile on my face now. So thanks again for posting it. I'm going to dig out my Four Seasons CD - it always makes me feel good.

Went from :cry: to :carrot::carrot::carrot:

Hi Golden Girls -

Well, my mother is still in the hospital. They’re not going to give her the chemo today as scheduled. There are 3 doctors involved - Cardiologist, Oncologist and Primary Care. They are running every test in the book. They moved her into ICU late last night. Her EKG (or something) was showing a little blip they weren’t comfortable with. The cardiologist saw her early this a.m. and said she was okay and they’re going to move her back to regular room but the PCP has to sign off. We have to be careful with our visits because she always wants to leave with us. And this is the first time that she actually stayed in without someone (she preferred my dad) stayed with her. I guess she feels bad enough to stay. I think they’re going to keep her another night. Not sure if doc is doing that so Medicare will pay for nursing care afterwards or because she really needs it. Sigh…I’m so exhausted.

Coconut water really works for cramps. Not the milk - the water. After my husband’s chemo in 2004 he had excruciating cramps. The lessened over time but he still got them after sweating heavily. I read about a young tennis pro who found that coconut water was the only thing that worked for him. He uses VitaCoco pure coconut water. It’s 60 calories for about an 8 oz serving. Steve started by drinking about 4 oz before he played hockey and 4 oz after. It worked. Immediately. I think it’s the potassium. He tried eating lots of bananas but found he was gaining weight. The coconut water has the potassium of like 10 banana or something. Carton says 460 mg of potassium for 8 oz. He buys it for himself now. You can buy in small cartons with screw cap. I think he drinks less now. And he doesn’t take any supplements or vitamins at all. After opened needs to be refrigerated and it tastes better cold. It’s not yummy but not awful. I know you hate to use the calories but it’s only 30 calories for 4 oz.

Hugs to you all.

Good afternoon GG’s,

Having a rare moment (lately anyway) of no one around and it is quiet. So, thought I would try to get some personals done.

New avatar pic ~ compliments of Maddie :)

It has been terrible stressful almost horrible here due to DD’s process of divorce. SIL is acting just horrible and now has his mom involved. They are selfish awful people right now ~ all about themselves ~ with no thought at all of how what they are doing and how they are acting is affecting the kids. That grandma and dad should lose their titles and privileges ~ just awful horrible. I sit here enjoying the quiet, yet on edge ~ wondering what shenanigans that jerk is going to put us all through tonight. These stupid awful people seem to think that they don’t have to follow the rules and that acting horribly is perfectly acceptable.

Anyway ~ I am not alone, as I read here of some of the things the rest of you are going through and I am sorry that you are having to go through these difficult things.

Deelee ~ I am sorry for the troubles with your mom and your son and how exhausted you are.

MaryGee ~ sorry you are feeling blue ~ glad Karen31’s video helped you feel better.

Thank you CK for sharing the feel good video. How are Tim and the divas doing?

Donna and Cajun ~ interesting about the pickle juice thing.

Donna ~ how is the new schedule working out ~ did you make it through the week ok?

Cajun ~ you’ll get rid of that ½ pound in no time ~ you’re doing great

Welcome Yvonne, DeeDee and Shar ~ glad you’ve joined us ~ looking forward to getting to know you all.

Bobbi ~ the apple pie in a mug recipe sounds yummy ~ thank you for sharing.

Rosey ~ glad you are having such a nice time with your grandson. Also glad that you are getting so much enjoyment out of going to the pool.

K3 ~ so glad to hear that things went well for your daughter.

Mary ~ how is your arm? How is DH doing ~ hope all is ok. Thank you for the information about the aspirin and heart attach. I went and got some of the children’s chewable ones ~ hopefully I will never need them, but better to be prepared.

I have probably left someone out ~ sorry ~ not intentional.

I’d better get this posted before the chaos begins again.

Take care ~ hope you all have a good weekend.
