Going out for lunch today...I must make good choices!

Corinna T 02-27-2013 05:49 AM

Renee - How did lunch work out for you? Did you make good choices?

Renee3 02-27-2013 06:22 AM

I did ok...just had a small hamburger,ff and a bottle of water. Could have been a lot worse :) I'm really trying to make this lifestyle change work! Thanks for asking.....

Good morning all,

I've been neglecting my healthy eating plan as I've been working on a large kitchen project for the last two weeks. I tore out my countertops and had new granite ones installed. Then I put up a tumbled marble backsplash by myself. Whew, what a dirty job, and the kitchen was torn up the whole time.

I have not weighed myself lately, but fear the worst...I was living on cheese and crackers and other foods I didn't have to actually prepare in the oven and I'm sure the pounds have crept back on. I'm starting back today and plan to fix healthy salads and maybe some fish for dinner.

What's the best way to deal with this sort of set-back??

Hi Andi Just try to eat more healthy and smaller portions...you will get back on track!

Corinna T 02-28-2013 03:35 AM

Hi Andi, I agree with Renee. Don't look back, just look forward and start again from today. Start eating healthy meals once again. You got rid of your old kitchen counter tops with bad habits and practices, now start with the new kitchen counter tops making healthy new choices for meals. Out with the old, and in with the new. Sounds like you have a lovely kitchen area now to help you reach your goal. Think of your thin body leaning against the counter slicing up zuchinni, mushrooms, onions, peppers, and other good healthy food choices for your salad or fajitas or you name it. That is where you will be one day soon. And it all starts today with you making the right choices and staying positive with that end goal picture in mind.....

Great post Corinna! Always look ahead :)

WebWoman 02-28-2013 09:08 AM

Thanks for your replies. Corinna, I love the idea of making healthy new choices for meals on the new countertops! Now whenever I go into the kitchen I'll think of how much I enjoy cooking healthy dishes!

Last night I picked up some chicken breasts on sale and made a simple lemon chicken dish. Cut the chicken in portions and browned it in EVOO - then baked it with a light lemon/butter sauce with herbs. Made some asparagus which went well with the sauce - delicious!

I was down a pound this morning, but it's probably just water weight. Tonight I'm making spaghetti with my DBF, but I'll make a huge salad and mostly eat that.

Great job Andi! Many pleasant memories are created in the kitchen. You have many more years ahead of you to make them. Yum Asparagus!!

Andi, that chicken sounds yummy...I'll be surprised if the scale likes me tomorrow :( Had a bit of a downfall this week...but today is a new day so I'll start over.

I was down another pound so I think I'm getting back on that healthy horse :-). One other thing I have to watch is drinking wine in the evening, which has up to 120 calories per glass and up to 1.5 g of sugar... they add up fast!

Renee, we all slip up at times and I'm sure if you watch your portions and exercise a bit you'll be right back in losing mode. Sometimes it's two steps forward, one step back!

Andi, I love my wine too and yes it does have a lot of empty calories. Glad to see you lost another lb. You go girl!

Renee3 03-02-2013 06:47 AM

Well, my weigh-in wasn't as bad as I thought. I have to get back on track for this week......and I will!

Hi everyone...

I like my wine at night as well! Well, after a great January, but a really slow February, it looks like that I'm back on track gain. I was fluctuating between 215 and 217 (sometimes 218), but I am down to 214. I was expecting the linear predictability that I had in January, but it's not to be. I have to be patient - and positive - for the duration. No snow this weekend, so that's a plus!

Getting back on track with everyone

Well I just finished reading everyone's posts...funny I think the common thread was "February" and let's just chalk it up to that...lol. Febuary is "Phat Month" and March is "Makeover Month" and we can do it!!!!
I started out with a bang in Feb and I swear all those winter storms just led me to eat all the carbs I could get my hands on.
Now March is here and I have booked myself a spring vacation to FL where I used to live for 4 years...(can't wait to get back) and now I have the motivation.....let alone my wardrobe is getting to a fewer select pieces at this time.
I just finished working nights and days (Nursing) the past 2 with only 4 hours sleep a day.....money was good but I am exhausted. Tomorrow I plan on going to the school....they have an outdoor track and get started on my exercise.
