Maryea - I am sorry to hear of all the problems you are having with your back and neck, but at least now that you're going to PT there is a good chance that you caught it in time and will be able to correct it. It sounds like the therapist really knows what she is doing. It will probably take some time, but you sound determined to follow up on her instructions.

Masterptr - Did you really eat 3800 calories? Was that your eat day? I don't think I ever ate that many calories in one day. If it is part of your plan and it's working for you, go for it!

Dee - You are really going through a lot with your parents. Bless your heart for being such a good, caring daughter. They are lucky to have you. Do take breaks now and then. You have to take care of yourself in order to be able to take care of them, and you need to allow time for your family, too.

Cajun - I could go for some of that smoked sausage, too!

Chewysmom - I'm so sorry to hear that your brother had a stroke. It's good that you made the trip to see him. It probably helped lift his spirits to have you there.
I agree with you about counting the points. I have not been tracking my food for the past several days and that's what gets you in trouble. Yesterday, I was in a position that I ate a Philly Turkey Cheese sandwich. We were rushed and I had to hurry up and order something. It looked good in the picture and I blurted it out! When it came, I decided not to eat the bun because it was a big hoagie bun. It looked really good, but would have really blown my eating for the day, so I used a fork and ate the turkey, cheese, onions and peppers and left the bun. It wasn't very filling, but I had a side of cottage cheese with it so that helped. Also, my grandson had asked for broccoli from the salad bar and he didn't realize it wasn't cooked so he wouldn't eat it, so grandma ate it. All in all I had enough to eat, but didn't count my points for the day so I don't know if I went over. If I did, I just start over today. Don't fret about it.

My husband just mopped the floors and ran the vacuum. He must want me to go somewhere and is trying to butter me up. So I guess I'll go see what he wants! LOL

Good morning goldies,
Last night dh and I seasoned and stuffed 60 lbs of pork sausage. We are going to the camp this afternoon. We will smoke it tomorrow. It's supposed to be a cool 66 degrees. Perfect weather. Ds texted me this morning. They got more snow last night. Everything is froze and iced up. He said his fingers were numb. I told him it was time for him to head south for the winter. He laughed and said we are going to migrate with the ducks and geese. They leave for Louisiana (home) Wednesday!!!!!!!!! I'm excited to see him. Not to mention worrying about him in that unsafe refinery. It will feel so good to get that worry off my shoulders.

Mary~ I hope your exercises help your pain.

Karenfl~ still getting feeder bands of rain. That storm is huge looking at it on the map. Good thing the cold front were coming thru and not in the middle of august.

Angela~ I agree dieting is full time. Gets tiring sometimes.

Dee~ hope you can get your parents situation straigtened out soon.

Carol sue~ stay safe. Rare storm huh.

Hello to all I missed. Gotta go pack for the camping trip.

Hugs
Cajun

I have to get something done around here. I have really been neglecting my house lately and it shows. We are both sneezing a lot, probably from dust. I'm still hurting but I can do things. Activity doesn't make it worse, it's just that with the pain I tend to not want to do anything. But now that I'm doing the exercising I have to accept that there will be pain for a while longer. Got started back to the gym today and I did ok. I'm just so thankful to know what to do now about my back and that hopefully I did catch it in time.

The only thing I am sad about is that I can't go back and see my brother and sister now for a while longer. It's been about seven years since I've seen them and they are getting old and are not well. But it's in God's hands as is my life and will happen if it's suppose to. Once my 3 weeks with PT is over, perhaps I can take some time and go if the weather is not too bad back in the midwest. Dh can't handle really cold weather but sometimes the cold weather back there is easier to take than our more moderately cold weather here since it is drier there so will see. I prefer to go in the fall but hestitate to wait another year.

Cajun - So glad your ds is coming home soon! I know you worry about him and miss him terribly. For some reasons sons are extra special to their mamas and vice versa. My dh would love the sausage! I don't often buy it (we certainly don't make it but I bet it's tastier if you do) but recently he's been buying the uncooked kind at New Season's meat counter, grilling it and having it with his rice for lunch. Once in a while I buy the pre-cooked kind and slice it up and stir-fry it with onions, and red & green peppers and serve with rice. We both like it. I'd like it with beans too but not dh.

Masterptr- Wow, I admire your exercise! Sounds like you more than made up for your high calorie day. I agree about dieting being a full-time job...esp with my being diabetic, I feel like I have to think about food, carbs , fat, sodium ALL the time as well as calories..get sick of it but that's the way it goes. And I know that even reaching my goal weight will not be the end of it.
But I am determined to do it for the best health.

Deelee - Must be difficult having to deal with elderly parents issues, but I'm also thankful you are there to help them. In my case my mom died young so neither of us had to deal with these things but my sister had to take care of our dad's issues as he was in a nursing home. I know it was not easy for her but she was the only one in the area. I really appreciate what she did.

Slm11 - Wow from 90 degrees to snow? How could you be ready for it?!! So far no talk of snow here but it is on the mountains.

Chewy - I can't find the post now but I remember you posted about Calorie King. I had the independent software and LOVED it! Used it for years. My issue recently with it was that there was no phone app and now I use My Fitness Pal. I really like it too. I almost never have to enter a food and seems like about everything is in it. But if CK had a phone app I'd have stayed with it because I had so much in it. They do have an app but it isn't the same. I want one like the program.

Changed my picture but it is now blurry. It was an 8x10 that I resized 25% ..is that why? What is the best size. It says 110 X 150 pixals but when I tried 100 , it was still blurry. Am I suppose to multiply 110X150 to get the correct number (like with square feet)? Or is it because this pic started out so large? All of your pics looks so nice and clear.

Maryea - What a nice picture! It doesn't look blurry to me. I like it seeing both of you.

My doctor cancelled my appointment for Wednesday. I had a feeling that was going to happen. When I was there 6 months ago they made this appointment, and it seems that when they make them in advance they end up cancelling them. They rescheduled me for Friday at 3 PM. I don't like going at 3 PM because by the end of the day they're backed up and it will be more like 4 PM when they get me in. Then they will be in a hurry to get out of there on a Friday afternoon and my appointment will be rushed. I have so many things I want to discuss with him, I'm going to write up a list. LOL

In a way I'm glad they cancelled because the storm is supposed to come in late Monday or early Tuesday and be here for a couple days. I am expecting rain, not snow, according to what they say the temps will be. Highs in the mid 40's. It should be out of here by Friday. They are also calling for high winds. I hope we don't have power outages. I guess I will just have to wait and see.

Rie/Maryea - I'm having trouble now ordering my testing strips from Liberty. When I ordered, they said they were going to send me 300 for a 90 d/s. When they came, I only got 100, so I thought they were sending a 30 d/s. Yesterday I called to reorder and they told me my doctor only wrote for once a day testing. Originally, he had told me to test twice a day, but when I ordered from them I told them I test 3 times a day, to try to get more strips. They are going to fax the doctor to see if he will approve 3 times a day testing. Also, they want me to track my testing 3 times a day for 30 days and send it to them. I don't know why that is, but I will do it. I might go back to my Wavesense strips I was buying at Target. This is such a hassle. They said it is required by Medicare. I will have to make a choice of either paying for Wavesense strips at Target, or paying more for my Medicare so insurance will cover the cost of the One Touch strips. Either way, it's going to cost me more.

It is chilly here today. Only 45 degrees but the sun is out. Don't have a lot planned for this weekend which is kind of nice.

My Mom never went to the Dr. without a list of questions.. She said it is always better to write down everything you are thinking of before you get there otherwise you always forget something because Dr.s seem to always want to hurry! So I have always done that. I keep a running list, kind of like a grocery list, when I think of something I want to ask, I write it down. I think it is a very good idea!

They got our foundation all fixed and gosh do I feel better having that done. Poorer but better!!! I had them take the "hedge bushes" out from around the front of the house. I didn't like them at all and they had to remove a group from the middle so just asked them to take them all out. Now I need to think of what I want to put out there to replace them. I don't know what they were but they were sure stinky! I'd like to get something that will add some color besides green!!

Well, guess I should get busy and get ready for a trip to Walmart! Need to pick up a few things and also Halloween candy. New neighborhood so don't know what to expect this year.

Have a Great weekend!

slmn11-Yes I did eat that much. and it was not the eat day.
when I'm PMSsing, everyday is a eat day
at least my TOM started 4 days sooner which shortened my PMS sentence by 4 days. that was a good thing.

Hi everyone, finally had a moment. its been busy for me this weekend. had my grdd over night to help me with some chores and we carved pumpkins. im getting ready for thanksgiving.yup all ready becuz my legs are paralized it takes me longer and alittle help from others to get stuff done. my grdd helped me declutter. if a do a little every day then i'll be ready by then we will have 32 for dinner. i love big gatherings, and every one brings part of the dinner. we have never lacked for food. becuz my oldest grss is going into the airforce we wanted to ahve all family and friends over as he leaves in dec for basic. we also have a family friend who takes professional photos so we are going to have family pictures the next day. hailey my grdd and i and grandpa steve had fun with the pumpkins. her mom just picked her up and grpa napping. he had his 1 week check up and the dr told him he was doing to much(hmm i tried to tell him that) so hes not healing like he should. his appetite is puny too so i tried to think of what he'd like. i made chinese noodles. he loves them and ive never made them befor. i am sure he will let me know how i did. hope you all had agreat weekend,i did but now im pooped too. sry im rambling ttfn rosey

Happy to say I'm down another pound. I guess if you don't eat you lose...novel concept. But I can't say it's easy. Well, I'm consistent with my back exercises and look forward to PT on Monday so see what they do (or maybe they will just check on how I'm doing?). If they hurt me I may not look forward to the next visit! I am SO tired of pain! Lying on the floor seems to be getting a little easier for me at least, but my back still hurts all day. I keep thinking if it weren't for these exercises, my back might be over the pain episode by now (as it always goes away so far) but I know I have to work through this to prevent further pain and damage. Our dd and kids will be here soon. Not sure about sil. She wants to hear about my back and also they are going to a party here in town.

We ate at Panda Express after church and then stopped in AT&T and asked about the offer you got. They said we can get $40 for our phone right now but it changes all the time and we have to go back in Nov (due to our contract), even Nov 1st is fine so don't know what we'll get then. At least it is something. Thanks for telling me about it, Karen. I ate very little at the Panda...about 1/2 the orange chicken, 1/4 c rice and a few of dh's veggies (green beans) and one veggie spring roll ..that's it..but I did stop at Starbucks for a light mocha frappe (tall...which ironically is the smallest). I ask them to make it with NF milk and no sugar mocha mix. So it should be less than the usual 110 cal and 23 carbs in the regular one.

Rosey - Hope that man of yours takes it easier so he heals well. My man also has trouble with resting. He likes to be busy. Also hope he likes the noodles...sounds good. My dh loves them.

Slmn11 - Oh glad the pic isn't blurry for you...it sure is to me. But if any of you haven't seen it already you can see it on my Facebook page in my name, Mary Agloro. I hope you get the strips you need. Medicare can be difficult. I don't know if I will be able to get strips from Medicare AND Expresscripts. It would be nice to get enough for 4 a day since I often do test more than 3x/day. Through Expresscripts I get them 300 strips for 3 months...so about 3 strips a day. Unless a person't bs is very good and not much of a problem, one really needs to be able to test more often, so it is a legitimate request.

Karen31 - I don't always have a list for my doctor but agree it's a good idea and do sometimes. However we go in every 4 months for our diabetes check and our doctor says everything we ask has to be about diabetes now. It can be like chest pain or something that could be linked to diabetes for instance but not anything else or he will just say come back for a different visit. He didn't used to be like this and often would even ask about other things himself but not anymore. Perhaps because they are putting everything on the computer now and he is kinda slow with that, he feels the pressure of time more now but that is not my fault. I understand I can't bring in a long list of unrelated things due to time constraints but I think if something is a real concern I should be able to mention it. Also his dictating that it has to be something related to diabetes puts the responsibility on the patient to know whether it is or not and it should be HIS responsibility! I stay with him simply because he has been so good about being into preventative medical care.

Hope you are all having a good Sunday!

Mary, on your Iphone you can write down a lot of questions in your "notes" and then you will have them with you because you will have your phone with you. And I would tell him whatever concerns you have and it is "job" to find out why or what and you are the one paying his salary! Is he a specialist or a GP or what? I wouldn't like that at all and I would tell him so.. I know sometimes my mouth opens and the words jump out before I can catch them but I don't think that is right!

Glad to hear you are down another pound. Every little bit helps. I get so frustraated with this whole weight loss deal! And now with the holidays just around the corner I need to get up and move more for sure! I guess with the weather turning colder I may just get out my WATP's dvds to get started again. I think that may be the best place to start then move on back into the Wii..

Rosey, you are looking so good! And the pumpkiins look really neat! Sounds like you have been busy and going to get busier! 32 for dinner!! WOW! That sounds like a lot but I'm sure it will be Wonderful! You should set up a video camera and just let it run through the day!! I'll bet that would be one to treasure forever!!

I am looking forward to going to see Guy Penrod this Friday! He is going to be at the church that is just down the street from us. I've heard him many times but never seen him in person.. Should be a fun night!

Hello to all--- Have a great evening!

Good evening GG’s,

Sorry I haven’t been posting as much. I check in and read, but then run out of time.

I have been doing a little different with my schedule and time and not spending as much time on the computer.

I was setting my alarm and trying to get up a little earlier every morning to go out and walk before work. But if I got out of work late and to bed late or didn’t sleep well ~ I would feel too tired to get up. I also would give up sleep so I could have a little bit of extra time in the mornings to fool around on the computer (Facebook and 3FC) while I ate breakfast. I decided that I was gonna try to make do with less computer time and I stopped kidding myself that I was gonna go out and walk. Now, I am getting up about an hour later than I was. I had convinced myself before that I couldn’t possibly get ready for work unless I got up at the earlier time. Then one day, I either forgot to set my alarm the night before or shut it off and rolled back over and slept a little longer and woke up later than usual, but still was able to get ready in time. And I made do with less computer time and the earth didn’t come crashing in ~ LOL.

I think I am feeling better emotionally because I have stopped doing battle with myself over this exercise thing ~ or my expectations for myself about the exercise. I have kind of accepted that for right now in my life, I will do what I can and then somewhere down the road when I have more time (hopefully that will come with retirement) I will do more. Rie suggested that I put on my pedometer ~ that she had read that all activity counts.

So, I am giving myself credit for my steps. I counted how many steps I could go in a minute, then divided my steps at the end of the day and found that I was making the equivalent of around an hours worth of steps (sometimes a little more ~ sometimes a little less). Then when I can ~ I have been walking in the evening a little bit or riding my bike.

I think that by converting those steps into minutes ~ it kind of gave me a new view and like I was actually doing something and was not just a big slug. And because I felt like those steps counted for something ~ I didn't feel like because I couldn't do the walking or biking as much as I hoped ~ that things were hopeless. I'm not in the league of some of the rest of you exercisers, but it is better than just sitting in the chair.

Also, that frustration at work with the lady rearranging our nurses station and making everything hard for us has finally almost worked itself out. The lady needed to move the copy/fax machine into the nurses station for HIPPA reasons. I asked my boss ~ when the lady achieved her goal ~ shouldn’t we be able to arrange the rest of the stuff how it worked best for those of us using the space ~ and she said yes. I had some frustration ~ ideas that I thought of as to how to arrange things ~ the maintenance people couldn’t do. My brain would freeze up with frustration and I could not think beyond the idea I had come up with. But my coworkers thought of things and my “wheels” began to turn again.

Sometimes when things don't go as you want them to ~ the way it turns out is even better. And that is what happened. The things I wanted to do and was told could not be done ~ led to doing things differently and it turned out even better. For the first time in weeks ~ I feel better about things there. There are just a couple more little things that need to be done and as long as that lady doesn’t come back and try to be a control freak and change the things we have done ~ it is arranged in a workable way now.

I think I feel better emotionally, and it is making the rest of me feel better too.

Sorry this has gotten so long. Hope you all don’t kick me out for being so long winded. Thank you for letting me share and for listening/reading. Hope to get personals done on my next day off.

Hope you all rest well. Take care
