Am2, I’d never heard the runner lapping couch potatoes saying. I like it. When I broke my wrist in multiple places 3 years ago after rollerblading, I told the casting tech that exercise was just play dangerous. He pointed out that he rarely casted a couch potato. I’d like that. I wasn’t/aren’t a couch potato.
:carrot: :carrot: :carrot: on reaching your 20K exercise minutes. Am2, Iove all your streaks. You play head games with yourself just like I do. We’ve got to do what we can to make the journey right. Gayle, walking the mall is walking. Good for you. Friday’s calories were 1327, Saturday 1344 and 744 so far for today so I’ll be at the most in that range. I doggie hiked all three days by myself (as DH is out of town), rode my bike Friday and ellipticalled yesterday. I swear being an  is so much easier when I’m by myself. Then again, I’d rather be fat with DH so I won’t trade him in. I did loads and loads of chores this weekend while he was gone. Outdoor and indoor. I just crossed the last item off the list and I have about another 6 hours of my weekend left. Sort of feel I wasted it but I have a clean house, pretty flowers, cleaned yard, etc. Pretty nice. I’m going to go swimming in my clean pool once Monsier Soliel moves behind the ponderosa pines. No sunburn for me. And back to work tomorrow. :( Marie |
Hello all,
Week 1 :flow1::flow1::flow1::flow1::flow1::flow1::flow1: Week 2 :flow1::flow1::flow1::1/2::flow1::1/2::( Week 3 (:dizzy:/:():flow1::flow1::flow1::1/2::dunno::mad: Week 4  :( :flow1::flow1: :dunno: :( :( Week 1 (exercise) :swim::D :D :) 0 0 This post for Saturday and Sunday ~ I didn't do so well with the eating or the exercise. Tomorrow is a new day. Marie ~ way to go on all the chores you got done. Am2 ~ I am in awe of your streaks ~ awesome Mary ~ you did well ~ glad you had a nice day Deelee ~ glad you are getting back on track Hello Tabby/Annie and Red |
Well, I didn't do too well the last few days. Got sick for the first time in a LONG time plus lifted TOO much with my trainer so my biceps were killing me. Long story short - didn't write down what I ate so I really slipped. Tomorrow, sick or not I will write it down.
Glynne, love how you do your list. Mind if I borrow the idea? |
Marie, I love your doctor's saying lol. When I broke wrist/arm two years ago, I had a totally different reaction from the surgeon, he saw me as frail and wasn't interested in my concerns about future continuation of weight lifting, doing pushups and downward dog, etc., etc., lol. I wish he had been more supportive of my fitness.
Anyhow, lol, everyone is doing great and I include self. DID lose .6 of a pound, which is at least in the right direction and hoping for more next week. Calories today 1595, exercise was a fun aerobics/walk/jog thing outside with the company of Leslie Sansone Christmas walking music that she introduced with a 15 min guided audio of the warmup using her steps. I used to use Leslie DVDs and before that her VHS stuff and was pleased to find the workouts on iTunes for my iPhone. I don't like sticking around in front of a TV set anymore to do DVDs, although once in a while I do. Red, feel better!!! Glynne, love the way you are going after those flowers! Woot! Hi to Tabbie/Annie! Had active day that was fun but car smoke and lost A/C when on highway in 111 heat in the desert. Need to get fixed before I go back to work on Wednesday. Lol, always something, however, didn't stress eat and am very focused this week. Woot! Onward! |
Gayle, today is a new day and I hope it goes well for you.
Red, I hope you feel better. One would hope when one's arms hurt, it would be too hard to lift the good to our mouths. But, my arms were sore from gardening lifting and I had no problem getting my hands to my mouth. ;) Am2, I think I found the problem in the doctor difference. My orthopedist hated that I'd rollerblade. Was actually quite rude about it. It was the med tech doing the casting that was supportive and made the joke. Doctors are sourpusses when it comes to fun stuff. No way could I take LS and Christmas music. Especially in the summer. :) I ended the day yesterday at 1300 cals. Today I'm doing well but it was so much easier this weekend when I was GO GO GO to do outdoor and indoor work. Sitting at my desk has my munchies on overdrive. But I refuse to give in. I've only had healthy stuff so far today. I believe my database utility is done processing, so back to the grindstone I go. At least until the next lengthy one. Marie |
Lol, Marie, I love the LS Christmas tape, planning it for morning. :) Thanks for sharing re the sourpuss orthopedist as the way mine was during that time has always bothered me. It is interesting to know the experiences of others in similar situations.
Exercise today was just 15 minute pilates to keep the streakity alive. Calories too high at 2215. I do not feel well and wasn't up to going and picking up my car. The heat is bothering me or something, or rather the price of the repairs they are doing on my vehicle lol. Woot! Good night, all! |
Hello all,
Week 1 :flow1::flow1::flow1::flow1::flow1::flow1::flow1: Week 2 :flow1::flow1::flow1::1/2::flow1::1/2::( Week 3 (:dizzy:/:():flow1::flow1::flow1::1/2::dunno::mad: Week 4  :( :flow1::flow1: :dunno: :( :( Week 5 :flow1: Week 1 (exercise) :swim::D :D :) 0 0 :D I did better today. Got to give myself a flower for the eating. And walked 15 minutes on the treadmill. I wish that I liked and looked forward to the exercise. I wonder if I ever will. I have to make myself do it. I also started to write down what I eat and keep track of it again. Following weight watchers on my own. I was eating ok, but wasn't measuring or writing it down. Hopefully, I will start to make some progress. I was giving myself a talk today and thinking that I can't just sit around and whine because my health is getting worse and worse. I have the power in me to make it better and if I just sit around and don't try, I have no one to blame but myself. Red ~ of course you can borrow how I do my list. What ever helps you along this journey :) |
Am2, I hope you feel way better today. Eeks on vehicle repairs. I might eat myself under the table if I had to pay for them. So far, DH does them all and just the parts are so spendy.
Gayle, perhaps on the treadmill walking, you could read. I use my ipad to read but a book should work. It might help transport you from the treadmill doldrums. I finished yesterday at 1372 cals and a great elliptical workout. OK great might not be the right word be a very good one. I didn't make my minimum distance, but I'm doing the hard interval workout that I stopped doing about October when the pain I was incurring was irritated by hard resistance elliptical workout. That I was 0.05 miles short of my minimum distance was ok with me since I was sweating and feeling great. DH and I chatted about my bipolar, logging my calories and recording financial transactions into Quicken. How you might wonder is it all related??? Well I came to a realization this weekend. I am bipolar (not a realization as I was diagnosed ages ago). My mania cycling tends to have me spending and spending and spending. It's a bad thing. There's other manias but that's a devestating one. Anyway, DH knows this and I gave him all my tricks years ago so I couldn't get away with it. So, the last few weeks, I wasn't logging transactions in Quicken as soon as they happened. We'd go shopping on the weekend (when I tended not to log my food) and then I wouldn't enter them. Then I couldn't enter the week's transactions as I hadn't don the weekend and I'd put it off until about Fridays. Then I'd do that cycle again. This weekend I realized that when I wasn't logging my food, I stopped logging my finances and was letting the mania win. I'd never realized the food logging was related to the mania like the financial logging. It was quite eye opening. And I told DH about it yesterday. I've made my resolution to log my finances as soon as they happen and voila, the foods are totally in control again. Still a bit manic but if I control the two areas (now two instead of only the money one), then when the manic subsides, my life won't imitate my tomato topsy-turvies. So that is a cool realization. BTW, every transaction has been logged up to the minute as well as every morsel. I actually feel in control during this manic cycle. Very awesome. Marie |
Hi Chickies - I am happy to say that this 2 (or more) up and down thing has me now down 5 lbs from when I scared the **** out of myself in March. I went above the magic number that I said I was NEVER going to get above again. I still have 6 lbs to lose to get to where I was Jan. 1. I did get to the gym today and yesterday. I'm trying to remember to write down that too.
Marie - sounds like you have a good plan to combine recording the spending with the calories. Gayle - there is nothing wrong with walking for 15 minutes. I think it's great. I have a lower back thing (small protruding disk) that I have to be careful of. The recumbent bike does not aggravate mine - but the regular bike does. Plus, I can read on it. I read "brain candy" mostly thrillers and there are t.v. s hooked up but they don't get all the channels. My current brain candy is not sweet enough. Made today's workout seem mind numbingly slow. I have to get a better book. Amar - you are awesome. I remember when I used to jog. Two miles was my max. Mary - Have you always been counting carbs? I have found that I have to do both, carbs and fat/calories. Sounds like it's working for you. Keep up the good work everyone. |
Deelee, I read romances mostly, but I listen to spy thrillers. Lots and lots of spy thrillers. I've learned so much about Jihad and Islam the last 5 months, I'm learning some of the words. I'm an audiobook freak. If I'm not actually reading, computing or spending time with DH, I have my earbuds in and I'm listening to books. I've been a member of Audible for 11 years and at last count I have about 800 books in my library. When I multiply out the cost, I shudder. But I figure $11 for a book is hours and hours of entertainment whereas a $9 movie lasts only 2 hours and they're never as good. I think since March I've listened to 16 spy novels. Each at least about 10 hours. As I said I'm freaky about them. And yes, I do exercise listening to them when I'm nearing the end of a book. Otherwise I read whatever I'm reading on my iPad and have fast music going. Amazing how well that works. :)
Ending the day at 1472 cals. Not bad. Marie |
Hello all,
Week 1 :flow1::flow1::flow1::flow1::flow1::flow1::flow1: Week 2 :flow1::flow1::flow1::1/2::flow1::1/2::( Week 3 (:dizzy:/:():flow1::flow1::flow1::1/2::dunno::mad: Week 4  :( :flow1::flow1: :dunno: :( :( Week 5 :flow1::flow1: Week 1 (exercise) :swim::D :D :) 0 0 :D Week 2 :D Kind of achy and head achy tonight ~ thank goodness for choices. If walking was my only choice, I would have ended up doing nothing. But, I wanted so badly to do something so I could build on my habit of exercising ~ I decided I could tolerate riding my bike for 15 minutes. I was enjoying it so much (because it wasn't as horribly hot tonight as it is sometimes) that I kept going and did 1/2 hour. |
Huzzah, all!
Glynne: Great work on the bike ride. Your little flower line-up is lookin' so good! Woot! Deelee: Congratulations on being five pounds down! Woot! That is great! I do that two up/two down thingie, too. It is frustrating, but I do find it gets it off eventually and your experience is proof. You'll ace that six pounds! Marie: Congrats on the realization about logging finances. I do feel better, thank you. Spending that sum on A/C DID make me eat eat eat but I am over it lol. My cals yesterday were slightly less than the day before but nothing to write home 'bout. Ended eating day very late at 2105. Did a second session of exercise also to get my weight lifting in because it was Tuesday. Very excited about my pending career change (ok, not really a change right now but going to take classes and an important exam that will help me make the change. Going to be very busy for several months as also just keeping the one client I now have and that takes a lot of time. Not wanting to discuss this further, not sure why I am even sayin' anything but have been talking about career to everyone lately lol. REALLY going to hocus pocus focus focus on the calories for the rest of the week, but first going back to bed as working tonight and slept NOT AT ALL last night. Have a great day, all! |
Gayle, way to go on enjoying the bike enough to double your exercise. That is such a great step forward.
Am2, I’m now quite curious about the career change but as I don’t know what your current career is… Today was a day of driving over the mountain for the semi-annual breast ultrasound. It is a beautiful day and that made the drive pleasant. The appointment was quick and that was great. I went to Costco and didn’t try any sample. I didn’t bring a lunch and was starving. I was trying to think of a place for lunch that wouldn’t burn through my calories since I wanted SBUX after the appointment. Then I saw the string cheese. I bought a package and had 3 of those for 240 calories and a few of the amazingly delicious dark cherries that were in my cart. How about that for a healthy lunch. Then the appt was so quick that I realized I could get home and make my own mocha early enough in the afternoon. Way cheaper $$$ wise as well as calorie wise. So when I got home, I ellipticalled and am now enjoying my iced mocha. I will finish the day at 1387 calories. Woots! Marie |
Hello all,
Week 1 :flow1::flow1::flow1::flow1::flow1::flow1::flow1: Week 2 :flow1::flow1::flow1::1/2::flow1::1/2::( Week 3 (:dizzy:/:():flow1::flow1::flow1::1/2::dunno::mad: Week 4  :( :flow1::flow1: :dunno: :( :( Week 5 :flow1::flow1::flow1: Week 1 (exercise) :swim::D :D :) 0 0 :D Week 2 :D :D I didn't want to exercise tonight, but I made myself. Walked 15 minutes on the treadmill. I have never felt before that the exercise helped much, but lately, I do feel less achy the next morning and maybe not quite as stiff ~ I'll take it. For now ~ that is what is keeping me going. |
Sorry I've been missing recently...just got too busy, didn't keep the main thing the main thing and got off track. My weight quickly jumped up to 170 again of course, in fact one day it was 171!! But yesterday I did a little better and it was 170 today. But it really isn't that much of a differnce as I routinely flucuate a lot. I'll have to lose at least 10# before I'll feel a little safer with the flucuations and I know that really I will always have to stay on plan even if/when I reach my goal. That's just the way it is. I have to stick to my plan and not let anything get in the way.
I have been OP today....1319 and 12 carb serv. Usual workout. It was a beautiful day!! Tonight after church they surprised us with root beer floats and they had sugar free as well as the regular so I was able to indulge!! Yea! :D Marie - Great decisions at Costco!! No samples...hard to imagine me doing that, but I'll consider it. LOL I am out of my mocha mix and have been trying to get along without it until I need more than that from Costco. I think it's good for me to know I don't HAVE to have it...;) Good for you on the recent insight. I agree with you about reading while walking on the treadmill. Not sure I could stick to even 15 min a day if it weren't for my little Kindle!! I get so focused on my book that sometimes when dh tells me the time is up I don't want to stop! :D Esp since the next part is the weight machines and I can't read then. :^: Deelee - I try to focus on carbs but sometimes I get distracted if I have lots of calories left and get to thinking I can still eat. Trying to focus on the carbs as that way usually I eat less calories plus keep my bs good. I don't really count fats (in my head) but they are part of the nutrients I track in MFP and I try to keep an eye on them. It is so easy to go over on fats and for a diabetic they are not good for sure. Today I was under on my fats by 2 but that is often not the case. Congrats on your weight loss...since I do that 2 up and 2 down thing I hope it leads me back down again too! Glynne - You're on the right path, just keep it up. I'm glad you are beginning to see some positive results from the exercise. From my stretching classes I used to really notice more flexibility. I don't notice much difference from the cardio and strength workouts but I know they are good for my body in general so I'm doing them for that reason. I tell myself it is my gift to my body to make up for all the abuse I've given it by overeating and not exercising in the past. You're all doing great...keep up the good work. Don't be like me...and I'll try and copy you.. |
