Uk. Argh. Ohhhhhhh. I feel so exhausted and achy, and it isn't like I exerted myself much today. Went grocery shopping, watched the twinnies for a bit (Well, I suppose THAT's a tad strenuous, come to think of it), went to target with dh (seems like that's the best place to get the twinnies diapers, and we buy them a big box every week; these guys are definitely high maintenance!) and bought a few tidbits that were on sale, came home, ate some black bean burgers on pita bread with mashed avocado, shredded lettuce, tomato, shredded Mexican cheese, and some lite Miracle Whip (They froze - and thawed, and reheated GREAT, PT...absolutely delish) and then watched a movie. Dh has gone to bed. He's more tired than I am. Maybe our day WAS on the strenuous side, I suppose. When we're with the twins, we're down on the floor with them, running around and dancing with them...I dunno. Just feel soooo tired. Bed soon. Horribly cold out there tonight, too - just looked at the weather channel, and it's 4 degrees out there. Don't suppose that sounds too bad to you, Rosey, but I've gotta tell you, it's WAY colder than I'd care to have it. Tea, I am so horrified for your poor friend. And the rest of the family...the child's mother. Unfortunately, when I worked as a social worker, which I did for seven years right from college, these things weren't so terribly uncommon. I can't fathom the kind of mentality one must have to do such a thing. It surely seems that they must be insane. How could a sane person DO such a thing? Your poor, poor friend. The baby, of course, is safe now, and that is surely a blessing. Mary, your trip sounds so lovely. I'm looking forward to doing some traveling with dh once I am well and truly retired.
Sounds like a magnificent supper, Lynn...I'm sure it was enjoyed by all! Bobbi, I've been counting calories. Most of the time. Sometimes, I just haven't felt like it, and I'm sure that on those days, I went way over. I don't think it's about plateauing, I think it's just eating more than I should too often. Ah, well. Feb. 1st will be here soon, and I can start fresh. Nancy, what particular sausage seasoning are you talking about? I'm sure I'd like to use it, if you can point me in the right direction. As for now, I season mine depending on what I'm using it for - for a Mexican dish, I use chili powder or just use packaged taco or chili seasoning when I'm browning the meat. For meatloaf, I use cumin, salt, pepper, garlic, and a good couple of squirts of ketchup. I haven't used any kind of red meat for a long time. I think I reached my saturation point when I spent nearly 10 years on the Atkins plan - stayed nice and slim, too, but all that meat gets to you after a while. I can't stomach it now. Congrats on the two pounds, girl....you're doing great!
Well, Karen31 and Lyn, if you two are getting those kind of results from exercise, it would seem that I'd better get motivated and be doing some. (Ack). Gayle, they ARE paying you for those things you're making for the hospital, right? Karen3 - NOW!!!! I need it NOW! Please get that bundle of sunshine in the mail immediately! I'm close to frozen solid!
My gosh, Bunti, that's pretty amazing...the difficulty in getting supplies in and yourselves out, I mean. I had no idea that those conditions still existed anywhere in the civilized world. It certainly is astonishing. Interesting, too. Freda, hope all's well with you and the family. I'm thinking maybe you're working this weekend?
Well, enough from me for now. I think I'll find myself something to watch on TV for an hour or so, and then get myself off to bed. Z
Just about ready to go to bed...... but I found a blurb on sausage seasoning.... NCNancy, does this sound right?????
SAUSAGE SEASONING
3 tbsp. rosemary, ground
10 tbsp. sage, ground
7 tbsp. salt
3 tbsp. plus 1 tsp. marjoram
3 tbsp. plus 1 tsp. basil, powdered
3 tbsp. plus 1 tsp. garlic powder or salt
3 tbsp. plus 1 tsp. cayenne, if desired
Mix all ingredients. Store in a glass jar. Shake well before using. Makes about 1 cup of seasoning.

"I wanted to prepare about two pounds of sausage. This recipe was obviously too much for two pounds of pork so I proceeded by trial and error! I found that three tablespoons of the seasoning per pound of pork was perfect for my taste. I really liked the flavor!!"
NCNancy, let us know before I go out and get the ingredients, please!! It seems to make a LOT!
Just popping in to say hi ~ almost time to go to work. Hope you all are having a good weekend.
Donna ~ I didn't have time to look and didn't want to forget to ask ~ could you share the recipe for your cabbage with onions, turkey kielbasa and dill weed if you haven't posted it already?
Teagranny ~ I'm so sorry to hear about you're friends loss of her great grandchild. Thoughts and prayers for you and her and the baby's mama.
Got back from the gym & decided to have a cooking day today. Just baked a breakfast pie (eggs, soy sausage, veggies & cheese in a pie shell); chopped up a bunch of veggies (stuck them in the food processor & used the "pulse" setting); and am planning to make some baked apples.
Weighed in on the Red Challenge thread - lost another pound this week. I am now 3 pounds from my present goal. I want to get to 145 and hold it for at least 6 months. At that point, I will think about what my next goal should be.
Lynn

Good Morning, All...
Quick check in..... Glynne, there really isn't a recipe. I just chop up the cabbage head into large chunks, chop up an onion into large chunks, put that into a large pan with a bit of water and a bit of red vinegar (maybe 1/4 cup water and a capful of vinegar), salt and pepper, and about 1/4 tsp of dill weed. I let that simmer for 10-15 minutes until the cabbage is tender. That's enough for several meals! The turkey kielbasa is sliced and added to the mix. Nothing to it. If you feel adventurous, you can add some diced Granny Smith apple for a bit of a different flavor, too. It's good with mashed potatoes, if you're eating potatoes... enjoy!
Lynn, CONGRATS!!! You and KarenMO are my new heroes!!!
No time for chit chat... off to see the Wizard! Have a happy Sunday, everyone! Be safe......
Just a laxy day. It's still too cold to get out much but we did venture out to the grocery store yesterday. Sometimes you just have no choice. Have to run out today to do a few chores too, but I'm back in as soon as possible. Even my little dog doesn't stay out any longer than necessary. He runs out and runs back in and heads for the heat registar. I made a turkey breast for dinner yesterday so there are plenty of leftovers, so no cooking today, jusr reheating.
Tea, What a horrible thing to happen to your friend. I can't understand how a person could do that. They have to be crazy. I cannot even imagine what your friend is going through, and I know you wish you were there to comfort her. Just keep in touch and let her know you care. so many people shy away becausthey don't know what to say. Not realizing that you really don't have to say anything, just be there for them.
Lynn, Yeah for you!!! You are doing so well. Doing anything different?
Z, thanks for the review on the burgers. I'm for sure making them and passing the recipe on. It sounds like one of those things that you can tweak to fit almost any taste. It gets harder to run with the little ones, doesn't it? But it's so much fun I know I won't stop untill I simple cannot any more. And keeping fit, eating right, and exercising, I hope, will make that a long time from now.
Donna, I love cabbage and it's another one of those healthy things thats just easy. This sounds like a perfect thing for the slow cooker. And another one of those things that you can mess around with and add what ever.
Hey Bobbi, I hope you are feeling better. And a blessed Sunday to you too.
NCNancy, I use coupons too and am a bargain shopper. They have great deals at the drug stores around here. We have 3. CVS, Rite Aid, and Wallgreens. They all have "free stuff" all the time. And they take coupons too.
Rosie, Did the Dr. already OK exercise? that will make you stronger and also help keep you firm while you're losing. Keep warm. How cold is it there today? It's 7 degreese here.
Gayle, I know you're working this weekend, but I hope your days goes well. And don't be so hard on yourself for being tired and taking it kind of easy on Monday. You put in a lot of hours. Be kind to yourself!
Freda

Tea, so sorry to hear about your friends loss. That has got to be a terrible thing to deal with. I will definitely add them to my prayers.
Rosey-- 20 degrees is so cold to me. Of course we are sitting at 30 right now and expecting freezing rain and snow later. I would love to have some of Mary's 70 degree weather!
NCNancy-- Congrats on the 2 pounds gone this week. That really makes you feel good doesn't it? I know it does me. If I can keep losing I think I can stay motivated..I have my fingers crossed anyway!!
Zoe-- are you getting more snow now? You have sure had your share and then some this year. I know when we lived back there I sure didn't like all the snow!
That sausage seaoning sounds good-- I am definetly going to print that out and give it a try as soon as I can. I would like to use more turkey for things.
And Donna your Cabbage sounds good too. I really like cabbage and just never think to get it.. Better go and write it down on a list right now!
Lynn, Conrats on your 3 pounds gone. I get so excited when I see the pounds disappear! Of course, I think I have figured out that it is going to take some work to get it accomplished.
Freda, you are getting that cold weather too. Sometimes you want to exercise just to get warm!! LOL! I know I do.
I had to include a picture of Ginger and Sissy in their "fur coats" They were going to go outside until they decided that they might get a few more bites from Dad before they did!!
OOOOOH darn....had a long note written and it disappeared. Ended up back on homepage....We are having intermittent internet blinks. Think I'll pay them with intermittent checks. Lets see what I remember....
Donna....Have got to try dill with cabbage. Do carrots with sugar butter and dill. Love the smell when you lift the cover!
Freda....7! gesh....my cleaning girl's dh has been transferred to Ky, He has never been out of Fl and it was 9 there yesterday and snow due tomorrow. I laugh thinking how shocked that poor kid is gonna be.
Teagranny...There is just nothing you can say to some one that has had that kind of loss. I've told the GG before, but it was such a blessing when it happened. We lost our DGD and a month afterwards a friend of mine called me saying "okay karen I know you have been the pillar/support for everyone tell me how do you feel...vent now to me" It was the kindest thing anyone has ever done for me. I try to do it as pay back.
Lynn...Wow Lynn you are close to goal. That's wonderful...even with your traveling. Good show ole bean!
Zoe...well you got the twinee hugs. I tried to mail the sunshine and it didn't pass HL security. Can't mail oranges or sunshine wihout an inspection and they opened the box and it escaped.
Rosie...You have come so far in the past year. You are so strong and make us all proud to have you as a friend.
DD reports that the babies are doing well. Nursing from a bottle every 6 hrs. Kinda a pain since it takes them 3 seconds to empty the bottle. Are in a box stall with a heat lamp and playing happily.
I need a wedge cushion for my desk chair. Try to explain to Dh that this cushion is too high and I have to jump up to sit down. sighhhh coming back in next life tall! Off to Kmart....karen3
Height: 5'2" (really 5'1 1/4" ( but I refuse to accept that - I don't care what the doctor says!)
Hi Everyone - After many many tries, I'm finally back on 3chicks, etc. Computer dummy for sure! lol lol. I love the 50+ site. I'm finding that one day at a time seems to be best for me; even one meal at a time at times. I'm doing WW program & the fruit is the "saving grace" for me. I've been battling weight all my life (& I'm 72 now). I know the support I get from here is the best! And I love the Mark Twain quote!
Thank you so much for sharing all of your inspiration and ideas with me. As a 61 year old woman, I enjoy sharing with others in the same situation. Thanks for being there.
Um. MINUS 16 degrees in Worcester tonight. 32 degrees COLDER than Anchorage, AK. What is going on, people? This is downright gruesome, is what it is.
I had to eat to keep warm.
That's a lie.
I ate because I felt like it. I'm beginning to feel very stuck at 162. I was looking at some pictures of when the twins were born (March, 2009) and I looked thinner and younger. Feeling pretty blah.
Don't want to go outside.
Snow Tuesday & Wednesday. Again.
I'm thinking I'd better get myself to a tanning center before this SAD REALLY kicks my butt.
Thanks for trying, Karen3. Danged homeland security people!
G'nite all,
Z
Quick check in. Praying for your friend and her family Teagranny, I cannot imagine the pain.
Zoe it is really cold where you are, we are up in the 30's now. I hope you're feeling better.. this cold and dark of winter gets to me too. Vitamin D, happy movies, tanning beds, and keepin' on keepin' on, helps me cope.
Looks like it's been a busy week for everyone. And lots of good progress.
Jack LaLanne is one of my first childhood memories. He was on TV in the early morning in the San Francisco bay area. (Late 1950's- Channel 2- we only got 2, 4 and 5- I think later he was syndicated. He used to say, "Okay kids, go get mom and dad out of bed to start the day in a healthy way." I think I did that ONCE, lol.) He also advertised whole grains way back then (Roman Meal bread) There is a reason he lived to a healthy and fit 96 years.
Dinner tonight is Hearty Black Bean, Ham and Vegie Soup, Salad and for the boys, Corn Bread. Yummy cold weather meal. (and only 3 points for a 1.5 cup serving) Raspberries for dessert.
Welcome back laffalot, and glad you posted Shrinkfs. This is a nice place.
Just popping in to say hi, then off to bed. I got let out of work early ~ quiet evening and no admissions. Was set to arrive home, put up my feet and have a little internet fix and unwind before going to bed. I arrive home to a dark house ~ no electricity ~ no internet
It came back on about 1/2 hour after I was home. Yippee ~ so I got my 3FC and FB fix
Welcome shrinkmfs. And glad you found your way back laffalot.
