    We are the Golden Girls...

    There is Value in us
    There is Power in us
    There is Wisdom in us
    And Laughter....
We are a rainbow of unique wonders,
    There is love in us.
    (poem by Dorothy Holmes)

Tell us a little about your life, family and goals. What keeps you motivated? What is the best thing that's happened to you since you passed the 50 mark? What's the best thing that happened since you passed the 60 mark?
Friends laugh, cry and stand by each other, we'll be that to you!
  • Good Morning, All......
New month, new picture..... I love beginnings!

Hope you're all having a lovely holiday. Isabella, how are you doing with this experiment? Are you going to be able to continue it for another 14 months? Hard work..........!!!

Lynn, I hope you're having a lovely time, and I do still want to hear all about your evening with the "real" Irish!

PT/Zoe, Bobbi, Rosey, Karens, Freda...everyone... have a good one and be safe!
  • Hi Everyone,

Happy June. OK - gained 5 lbs in 1 week in Ireland. Back on program today!

Starting a June Challenge - I NEED it.

New Avatar is me with my Irish "cousin." Pic below is some of the folks with whom I was researching ancestors in Ireland. I am second from right.

Had a good time, learned lots of new stuff, glad to be home.

    Will check back later,

    Lynn

  • Good Morning!
Glad to have you back safely Lynn...must have been interesting to meet your relatives. Did you find anything in common other than blood? I'll bet you found a new favorite food to make now that you're back in the states!
Jess...I like your new avatar, Karen's new avatar in the pool, Lynn's new avatar. Geeeeez, since I'm the camera buff I never get in the pictures.
I had to dig up some old pictures of #1 GS when he was small, Tiffany wants to display them all on a board for Damian's graduation party. He has to work his butt off this summer so college in the fall, there goes his summer!
Hi everyone who hasn't posted yet on the June Thread, I better go close the May.
    Have a good one!
  • Hi Everyone,

Come join in the 4th of July Challenge - begins today.

    Lynn
  • Good Morning GG's,

Hope everyone had a good memorial day. Ours was good. BBQ, but then it started raining. We had planned a day of volley ball and badmitten but that didnt' work out. We did have a bike ride later in the evening. And Yes, I ate too much. Not terribly, but a little more than I should. Steak and spaghetti salad, potato salad and baked beans. No dessert. At least i drew the line there! But not I have to watch out a little closer. So, you will be seeing me on the challenge.

Glad you enjoyed your trip Lynn. Good to see you back, waiting for all the interesting stories and pictures.

Taxigirl, Did you give your name. I could have missed it. and it you're not ready to share that's ok too. Welcome! Good to have you here.

Isabella, where did you spend the Holiday. Can't keep up with you. I hope your DDL appreciates the scarafice you're making. But, that is what we do for our kids, isn't it? I would do the same, in a moment!

Karen, You look like you are having a great time in the pool. And such great exercise.

Karen31, So glad to see you back. And you know that we all have problems, gain weight, and we're always there for each other. We've all done it. Come join the challenge with me. It works! I do well under pressure!

Z I know you had fun with those babies!

Barb, hope you had a good holiday. Where are you? We miss the people that don't post. We're like a family, everyone else can be here but we miss the ones that aren't.

Jess, do anything special for the holiday. I really like the say you are always changing your picture.
  • Good Morning, All....
Freda, I change the pictures because I'm always HOPING that the weight loss will show!! But it's hard to point a camera at my face without looking startled or totally foolish... oh, well, I try! Photos are not what will be remembered about me! I hope....

Glad you all had a good holiday. Lynn, I'm so glad you're back safely and that you had a good time! Where next???????

June 1st... can you believe it? I saw those damn sugar ants coming in the front door last night.... ugh!!!! Time for better living through chemicals. I hate them!! They're a scourge since we had all that rain last year, can't seem to get rid of the queen. UGH!!

Everyone, have a good day.... be safe!!
  • I hope this comes through..... carb friendly!

  • Good Morning everyone! I hope everyone had a Safe and Happy Weekend! I enjoyed having the family around. We grilled brats and chicken and had homemade sugar free ice cream. I am going to try and experiment and find sugar free/low calorie homemade ice cream! That is a challenge!!

The picture is my nephew in the pool with his daughter.. thought this was a great shot!!! She is 2 years old.

Ok-- need to get busy and get something done today----yesterday was busy but really didn't get much housework done!

    Take care.

  • Hi, Jess! I'm new...still unsure of myself on the site. I've posted in the Daily Chat (50+). I've only made one bundt cake in my life--actually with my DH...for my soon to be DSon-IL's birthday (a lower calorie Carrot Cake)--it was a success and am ready to try again! LOL Your recipe looks great!

Are you aware of Hi-Maize Natural Fiber for lowering the carbohydrates--I guess, the net carbs? You can substitute up to 1/3 of the cake flour in your recipe. If you're interested, check out the product (and explanation of why this works) at the King Arthur Flour website. Or at the Honeyville Foods website. :-)
  • Lynn...When you were gone and Isabella hadn't posted for a week I thought everyone abandoned me so I deleted my exercising across the country posts. I do know where I left off but won't have the time to keep up this summer. If you and Isabella want to continue, that's up to you. I practically live outside in the summer and won't get on the stepper until cold weather. Between all my flower gardens, vegetable garden, painting the outside of the house, blah, blah, blah, I won't have time. I did join the July 4th challenge because I have those pesty 6.5 pounds to get rid of. Thanks for starting it!

    Hi Bobbi,
My “cousin” and I are both politically liberal, both love chocolate, and both genealogy junkies.

    Hi Freda,
Glad to see you are joining the Challenge. Not many stories or pictures. Did VERY little except stare at microfilm rolls.

    Hi Donna,
No new trips planned for now – maybe somewhere interesting for Christmas time.

    Hi Gittel,
I also have a low-cal/carb carrot cake that’s pretty good. I generally use whole wheat flour instead of white flour – ups the fiber a little.
