Unhappy Newbie 54 and looking for help

Hey everyone,
This is my first post and the beginning of a successful mission I hope. I'm undecided about which diet to start with. I have a lot of fat around my middle. My clothes which before I moved were 12's are now 14's if I'm lucky and the weight is just weird too much body fat for sure. I hurt my knee in Nov. and was laid up for about 3-4 wks and that helped me reach my 180. Before that I was 171 and eating healthy not now though! I feel like a stuffed sausage actually none of my clothes fit and I really don't like the mirror! My choices for diets are either Crack the Fat Loss Code or Sonoma Diet. Actually they are kinda similar. You get to eat good and all food. I really need to jump start my body loss since I've eaten out of boredom and been so bad to my body. I go back to the Dr's for my knee on Jan. 7th and believe it or not its still a little swollen and I still where a short brace when I go to work. I'm on my feet. Thats just the beginning of my story but I need to here yours, I need encouragement. My husband works in retail and of course is thin. He eats alot more than me too and not the good stuff so I need to get off his diet and onto my own. It doesn't look good on me! I'm starting to eat healthier but I"m planning to start on Friday January 2nd, 2009 and make this a great healthy weight losing year for me and you with your help of course....Any suggestions.... Just talking to someone in the same boat will help alot.
thanks and nice to meet you all

Hi, I am new to the over 50 threads. I have spent the last seven years denying that I am over 50. I don't post very often, just kind of hang around. Wishing you good luck on whichever program you choose.

Ocean lover, I wouldn't wait until Friday. I would start immediately. If you have the motivation, do it now! Too many things could happen between now and then to derail your planned effort. Just do it! There is support for you here and answers here too.

Welcome Girls, this is a great site! People over 50 seems to understand what we go through as far as exercising and losing weight. It just doesn't come off as fast and our bodies don't work as well as they used to. The accountability is a good thread to subscribe to, just checking in daily helps keep me on track. The Golden Girls thread has all really nice and helpful people on it. You'll have to make up your own mind about which program to follow. We all do different programs but support each other. We post recipes that are tried and true (good), it's fun when someone post a picture of themselves, family or pets. If you have something really personal you want to talk about, you can send personal messages to any of us. The best thing to do is get nosey, the 3 fc site is huge and it takes some time to find your way around. Glad you found us!

Default 52 and new too.

Hello and nice to meet you. I too am just starting and would love to take this journey with you. I have 60 pounds to lose and think that I am going to go the Weight Watcher route as I have all the gadgets and know how it works.
I know that WW has changed over the years since I was a member but I think I will go the old Flex method.
We can do this!!
Namaste...

I wanted to try WW too but it seems like with WW I eat too many fake foods and don't take the time to eat the good foods that I should. Another words I take the quickest easiest way out. Welcome will look for your posts perhaps we can do this together!!!

I actually find the new WW program very helpful for me as they have the healthful guidelines to follow. I am guilty of not enough fruits and veggies but if I keep my checklist I do lose weight and feel better. I remember reading Suzanne's post one time that it doesn't matter which program you decide on as long as you work the plan.

I think you can check out the new program for free at the WW site, but not for sure.

50 and a new member just joining a couple of days ago. I would love to get to know everyone on this 50+ forum. Well.....maybe not everyone, I think that would take way too long, but some buddies along the way would be great. I am doing the Think and Lose program and feeling very good about it. I am going out today to buy a PS2 interactive dance program that I can use to get some exercise. My sons can set it up for me and it sounds like a fun way to get moving. I'm sure I'll be a complete clutz at first, but that's okay. Anyone else tried this for exercise or just to get moving?

Oceanlover: I belong online, for one it is cheaper, like $16.95 per month, for two you can get a ton of support right here on 3FC. They also have a WW thread. Good luck with whatever you choose though.

Sisu: It does take a while to get know people for sure. I am pretty new to the 50+ threads.

Looking forward to a day of computer and a quiet evening ALL to myself. I think I will watch a chic flick. Get myself back on track after a really bad eating day yesterday.

HI, Welcome. I look forward to getting to know all of you. i post on a couple of the +50 threads. You really do get a lot of good information here. If you have a question, someone will have an answer, or tell you where to find one. Lots of good support. Like Bobbi said, we all do different diets, but most diets work. You just have to find the one that YOU can stick with. I count calories. Not too much different from WW. But in addition I make it a point to eat healthy and exercise too. It takes a combination for me. I keep a journal, I make a menu for a week. Hey, what ever it takes.

Looking forward to getting to know all of you,

freda

Good Evening to all you 50 year olds! Went and bought the PS2 Dance, Dance Revolution today. My son set it up for me and showed me how to use it and then I proceeded to entertain them and give them some good laughs. But it was pretty fun and I think I'm going to really like it, and if I can keep myself upright it should be some good exercise. Not as good as working out at some gym but it does at least get the heart pumping. Dance, Dance, Dance!

Hello everyone! I think the dance Revolution would be lots of fun! Right now we have our house for sale and I really don't want to buy more to move but do plan to get it once we get settled again! I thought that I would extend an invitation to you all to join us on the Golden Girls thread. Lots of support and tips there. Looking forward to getting to know you.
