Good Morning,
Linda, Hope the tooth is feeling better. Bummer!!
Counting, I say celebrate any loss!! A pound is one step closer to goal and health. I am going to look for that video "Yoga for inflexable people" I used to be so flexavle before I injured my back. Could I possible ever be aain? Think I'll see.
I went in for my annual check up yesterday and got very good news. The Dr. hadn't seen me since I lost the weight and he shook my hand and congratulated me. My BP was normal and my cholesterol was 180. So no meds for me. We've been on the verge of doing both meds and I BEGGED him to let me try to bring them down. And I had just attened a seminar that says don't wait, most people don't lose and you end up with 6 more months of high BP and Cholesterol and Diabetes or what ever, putting yourself at risk.

Hey!
What great numbers, the slim me! You must be so pleased!
Have you been exercising? What kind of activities do you do?
Never believe a seminar that tells you you can't change something unless you take a medication... you'll probably find that there is a drug company behind it somewhere. (Yes, I'm pretty cynical! )

I stayed up way too late last night and it was hard to get out of bed this am! Funny thing though, I woke up at just the right time (7:30) to get ready for my first class at the gym and one of the songs they play as we exercise was going through my head! Figured that was a sign I definitely had better go so I did! Felt good even though I was tired. Definitely will go to bed earlier tonight.
GFY, The Slim Me...I'd love to have my doctor congratulate me that way.. all I ever get from him is that I am stable or occasionally that I need to lose weight. I'm on medication for high cholesterol and would love to get away from it. So you're an inspiration!
Congrats on the loss, Counting Down! Impresses me since I've got a ways to go before I'll be within a normal BMI range for me. And I'm not muscular either.
Meowee, so sorry about your tooth! Glad you're able to look on the positive side. Hope you didn't have to wait too long to see your dentist. I'm trying to save up enough $$$ to get our teeth checked and cleaned right now.

Just a flyby to say hello. Another good day - the weather was glorious and my eating was POP. I even got in my afternoon workout - and I REALLY didn't feel like exercising
I'm noticing that my spring wardrobe is very sparse. Lots of winter stuff, but not so much lightweight clothing for work. And black and navy are still my predominant colors. I'm feeling a shopping trip coming in the near future

Hello everyone. I just finished the 8th and final healthy cooking demo at my church's health seminar. Tonight I made an almost sugar free chocolate snowball recipe. It's pretty low-fat also but does have coconut. I used splenda instead of the sugar in the original recipe. The only refined sugar is in the graham cracker crumbs but only 9 grams of refined sugar in the entire recipe. The people with diabetes were delighted. I enjoyed doing the demonstrations but I'm glad I don't have to pack up all the cooking equipment again every Thursday.

Good Morning,
Jay, I worked really hard to get here!! ha!! I can't do arobics any more (bad back) but I do walk for exercise and I lift weights. I am not on any terribly restricting diet this time, I just changed the way I eat. I try to eat high fiber, low fat, but I eat what I want within reason. I have some chocolate every day, just one piece, with my afternoon tea. I have been on so many "diets" that just didn't work. Or would work for awhile and then I would revert back to the old way of eating. Just crazy. Waht the seminar was refering to was the fact that most people would say they would lose weight and change their diet and then they didn't. And they would go for another 6 months with the problem, doing damage. Most people don't controle problems with diet and exercise. I'm a nurse and I do a lot of teaching. And I have a weight problem and I know how hard it is. So i can understand both sides.
Mary, Thought you were going to get out of exercising huh? That old subconcious got through to you!! ha!!
Counting, Congratulations on getting out there and exercising even when you didn't feel like it. I find that once I start it's o k, it's just getting started. And the weather here is so lovely now, just perfect to get outside and do something. It's going to be fun to go clothes shopping for some bright new spring things in a SMALLER size.
Isabella, I didn't know you taught low fat cooking. Have you posted any really good recipes?
Everyone, make it a good day, Freda

I've posted some of my recipes here on the 50+ recipe thread. You'll be the judge whether they are good or not. Unfortunately, I don't have the nutritional information posted yet, but I will when I get a chance to punch in the ingredients at nutritiondata.com.

Hi gang . . .
Yesterday, the dentist just sort of squeezed me in between other patients. All he did was yank off the broken half of the tooth; stick on some 'silly putty' and send me on my way, saying that should hold me until my appointment to finish the RC at the end of the month -- at least it felt a lot better but it definitely hampered my ability to eat the good, healthy (translation - crunchy vegetables and fruits) stuff. So . . . what happens last night as I'm eating yogurt for dinner . . . that's right, the 'silly putty patch' falls out. Just did my usual early morning emergency call to the dentist and got a recording telling me they are closed until Monday. Hey, the tooth looks and feels a little strange, but no pain. But I will no doubt worry all weekend.
Yesterday continued to be a dreadful day -- after I got back from the dentist, I picked LouLou up for our normal lunch and mall-crawl -- my lunch was a bowl of brothy soup and half of a mushy bread (sans crusts) sandwich. We get home to her place and discover that her biggest Chihuahua has beaten up her smalles Yorkie. Blood all over the place. After a quick visual assessment, we rush the Yorkie to the vet. She's in pretty bad shape, but hopefully will pull through. These two have never liked each other, but never got this serious before. Guess they will have to be separated from now on whenever their 'mom' is out. The Chi has a few cuts and scrapes too, mostly around the ears, but not nearly as bad as the Yorkie.
Enough of my whining (actually more than enough) . . . hope everybody else has a great day and a great weekend shaping up.

Good Morning, It's another lovely day here. It's supposed to be in the upper 70's. I shaved my legs and pulled out the capri's, a sure sign that spring has officially arrived.
Isn't it just so much easier to drink all your water when it gets warmer? I have to force myself in the winter time and now I go with a water bottle all the time. I do count ice tea and crystal light as fluid. how about you?
Isabella, I checked the recipes out. I copied the one for curried vegetables. That is one I can't wait to try. I've been looking for a recipe for curry. It's supposed to be really healthy, and besides that, I just like it. We have several Indian ladies at work and i've aquired a taste.
Hope everyone is having a great day, Freda

Hi all, just a quick fly in while taking a break from the gardening. WHY I have so many gardens is a mystery to me right now - oh, right - DH hates to mow and the more gardens we have, the less grass - silly me.
Freda - I am wearing my very first pair of capris right now. MI has such lovely weather this weekend! I marvel at your 115 lbs. I can't imagine being that small! You are an inspiration to the rest of us still in progress
Linda - hopefully the dentist can put a crown on your tooth. I have a couple of root canal teeth that didn't have much left of them after all of the filling material was removed.
Isabella - thanks for posting your recipes I'm always looking for new ones and they look fantastic
Well, if my back will take it, I think I need to get back to raking and trimming.
Have a GREAT weekend all!

Good evening everyone. The sun is shining through the west facing window in the dining room. It was overcast all day and now that evening is upon us the sun shines. Ha, ha, at least it's nice to see from my seat. I'm not very active today because I'm sleepy. I have such trouble getting to bed at a decent hour and then I pay for it next day.
The snow is all gone from the front and back lawns but it is really wet out there; too early for raking. I might go trim the rose bushes tomorrow. Last year I was out doing a bit of gardening and bent over to pick up a twig and just like that I couldn't stand up. I was two weeks getting over that little incident and then the flower gardens went to weed and that's all I grew last summer along with the perennials.
Glad you liked the recipes. I'm going to try and get the nutritional data up for the curry sometime this week.

Well, here it is Sunday, and I just spent a couple hours up on the roof, getting the oak leaves etc. cleared off. I have more to do tomorrow on one side, but the sun was getting too high to continue.
Later today I'll rake up the stuff I tossed off the roof and pulled out of the gutters--give it a chance to dry out so it will be easier to handle.
You'll notice I've taken down my tickers and put up a chickie avatar. As of today, I'm not trying to lose anymore the way I have been. Evidently my body is really comfortable at this weight, and I'm tired of fighting.
Of course, I'll still be watching what I eat and getting my exercise.
Have a good day!
Jay
P.S. Where's Spinymouse gotten to, I wonder?

Hi all, just checking in.
Jay - Congrats on moving to maintenance I have really enjoyed reading the threads over there - particularly "whether they chose their goal or it chose them". From the answers I saw, I think you are very wise.
I took the next steps in energy conservation this week. First I signed up for the renewable energy only option. with Consumers Energy. This assures that my energy (actually my share of the energy they produce) comes from renewable sources.
Second - I bought an electric bicycle (scooter with pedals). While I live close enough to work to walk, I often need to be in multiple school buildings each day. And sometimes, quickly. Thus, it is impossible to be without transportation until school is out of session. Which leaves me with only about 2 months that I can walk to work. I have tried a traditional bicycle, but I'm just not a biking fan. We live at the top of the tallest hill in town and the thought of pedaling up it at the end of a work day, UGH!
For me, the best exercise is something that is productive. While I realize I DO need to "work out", it definitely is not my passion. If I can move more in my daily activities, and supplement with exercise, I think I will be more successful sticking with this long-term. Thus - the electric bike. More exercise and "green" transportation all rolled into one.
Hope you are all having a great weekend! I hope to get more of the gardens cleaned out and uncover more of those precious crocuses that are sleeping under the leaves

I know what you mean about living on the top of a hill. No matter which way I go I have to go down hill to leave and up hill to get home. And I hate climbing hills. Gorgeous day here. I hung out a full line of clothes this morning and they are just about dry. It isn't real warm but so sunny and a great breeze for drying clothes. I was going to do a little rose bush trimming today but instead I'm going to take my mother for a little trip to the store and a short run around town. The bushes will have to wait until tomorrow.
